Do not book here. Here s the bad news. The photos and description of this golf resort are wildly misleading. What you ll see in the pictures are modern, elegant, new looking, updated rooms. What you actually get are dowdy, outdated furnishings and rooms that haven t experienced a designer s expertise for YEARS. And don t think I was in the one outlier room. No, no. I changed rooms three different times. The first right when I checked in. The second because it was a double and not the King I had reserved. The third to be on the ground floor. Each was exactly like the last. Some even had those wall unit AC units. The art was drab. The carpet is old. Everything really needs to be thrown out.
For what you get, you are grossly overcharged. At best, this is barely a three star place. There are so many other properties in OC that for the same price you ll get a much higher caliber experience. The new AC Hotel by Marriot for example is a far superior experience for a smaller sum.
Here s the other bad news. They will hold 75.00 PER DAY for incidentals. That would be fine if what you re receiving through room service was worthwhile, but that is not the case. The food, which they really try to present as having healthier options, is so lacking basic quality that I had to send several items back. But here s the real kicker. In addition to having a taste challenged kitchen, they will up charge you 28% just to deliver it.
I would most definitely not recommend the Hyatt of Newport Beach. It is the worst experience in a hotel I have ever had. Not a four star experience by any stretch of the imagination. Accurately, this is 2.5. An Embassy Suites is arguably better. The management should tear the whole thing down and start over. Such a great location. And that s basically the only thing you re getting.
