Hotel Tamarindo Diría Beach and Golf Resort Review

Amazingly beautiful hotel, great service, great buffet.. Perfect all the way around.

No no bad service at the restaurant bar. Every other place along the strip has been great honest and as is! Went to meet a friend there for drinks happy hour and we were told didn t start until 4:30 instead of 4. Okay we said we would wait and told the waitress to come back at 4:30 so she shows up order 2 glasses of wine . Then another friend shows up and orders a beer , she says ok Happy Hour just started and we weren t on it! We complained to her she didn t care, brought the beer. Ordered another glass of wine brings the wrong one!
Disappears and we don t see her again , look to pay and no where. We get up to find her and she chases us thinking we are leaving but in fact we are trying to find her!
Lousy service made you feel like your a thief and too many other choices !

It is one of the oldest hotels in the area.
Located in the center of the town of Playa. Tamarind.
The rooms are clean and comfortable.
There is a bar and a la carte restaurant.
The hotel is surrounded by multiple shops, bars, supermarkets, restaurants and amenities.

Fabio Grandjean and Samantha Aoki holidays at the Hotel Tamarindo Diria was very tasty, with excellent reception and rooms, very well located in Tamarindo, large rooms, nice pool, close to large trade, facing the beach, a little far from San Jose but we love it and recommend it!

Nice hotel area but unfortunately a lot of construction noise

Beautiful place and good food. Even the vendors at the beach are friendly and helpful. Close to all the local good eats and hangouts

They kept me waiting until 3 p.m. sharp even though the room was ready. At 2 p.m. I even spoke to room service who confirmed that my room number had been taken care of. Still, they didn't want to let us into the room. I've never seen anything like this in any of my travels.
I was seen rude at the front desk when I reported it. We didn't get a welcome drink either.
But it is very important to block $ 200 on the credit card. At the other hotels it just had to be deposited.
The rooms are small and old.
Granted, the view is very nice and the location is good.
I think that the location no longer makes it necessary to have good service.
Too bad.

A nice establishment but far too expensive for the service offered! We paid $ 380 for one night. The tv did not work. Minibar, empty. No service from the staff who is not very responsive.

Our family (Mom, Dad, two college kids) had a wonderful stay at Tamarindo Diria. We stayed in one of the buildings next to the beach with amazing ocean/sunset views. The property was beautiful and well maintained and the service was excellent. The location, in the heart of the city, was ideal for walking to great shops and restaurants. Pura Vida!

This hotel is THE VERY BEST. The staff and service is that of upmost luxury. Carlos at the desk, Randell & David the BellHop, Alex at the tour desk HSK Priscilla is a gem. They hosted a wedding for my family and left such an amazing impression on us. The beach is a rocks throw and both pools are awesome. LOVE LOVE LOVE DIRIA

Terrible customer service by ALICIA on the beach. She was outright RUDE and extremely unapologetic. In fact when we asked to speak to the manager (we did speak to him, I think his name was Jairo or something like that), she had an attitude of arrogance towards us.

Food was great, but customer service was worse than terrible.

Ocean view room. Thenroom quality was pretty good but I didn't feel it was on par with the rest if the resort. Beach and surrounding area were great. Breakfast was a bit boring.

While travelling through Costa Rica sent 3 days at this resort. We had a lovely ocean view room. Easy access to the beautiful beach and resort amenities. Unfortunately we were very close to the restaurant and bar and nightly entertainment. So when booking, ask for an ocean view room on the other side. Equally as nice.

Huge breakfast buffet served daily. Great selection. Unfortunately only opened for breakfast. There s a restaurant and bar you can order from during the day.

The resort is located right on the main strip so lots of shops lots of restaurants.

One main pool, rarely crowded and a kids pool.

Staff are very friendly.

You gotta stay in the "Beachnest" Diria Condo Penthouse...google and see it on-line. You will not be dissappointed!

A beautiful place where to spend a good holiday in family relax ....

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! The hotel staff are very friendly.. The location of the resort is perfect and it is very clean. The negatives are : the beachsidre pools are closed and under construction so there is a lot of noise and toxic dust from concrete saws! Just need to make sure you are not down wind of the dust. Their beach chairs are on the lawn not the beach so if you want a beach chair and umbrella you must pay for it. This is off season time so the room rates are reduced which is great given some of the less than desirable things described above. The food is not great!
We do recommend this hotel as they go out of their way to accommodate their guests and the location is perfect to walk to restaraunts and shopping.

It is a very good hotel, since you get off the car somebody is taking care of you. It is a luxury hotel with an access and a nice view to the ocean. The hotel offers massages, tours and different activities and a parking... In the morning, breakfast is included.

This mega-galactic structure, if on the outside it can give the idea of the perfect, it is not at all in terms of organization and maintenance
We have changed 3 rooms. We had booked through agency 2 nights plus one the week after. We were given a standard room the first night when we had booked a 2 Queen bed beach Front area. In the room 2.5 m. for 3 there was no room even for suitcases. There was a very small wardrobe in the bathroom and above all to have water in the bathroom we had to wait more than 1 hour. Wake up in the morning at 5.45 am due to the noise of the workers who clean the restaurant bar area adjacent to the room itself .. The second day we were given the room we had booked double bed terrace with sea view .. but also here problems .. We decided to take a shower ... we still have the faucet in hand.
The week after the third day of stay instead of delivering the requested room to those who have reserved a room in the structure beyond the road .. the structure is beautiful but the sea could not be seen .. Again problems in the bathroom. The sink plug was stuck and therefore the water did not come down ... once again we were forced to call the reception to have the problem eliminated ..
If for some this is a great resort it means that bad luck has haunted us ...

Very large hotel, nice staff. The room is a very simple standard. The safe is not attached to the wall, the stream is in a weak shower, the beef is excellent, the refrigerator is noisy,

+Great breakfast, clean rooms with good AC, fantastic view over the ocean from the balcony (choose the ocean view), really close access to the beach from the hotel, they had a gym

-hard beds, the gym could be better, no real barbells for squatting etc, horrible services at some of their restaurants like gallo fino, you had to be pushy to get the service you where needed when something was wrong.

Very good facilities and the food is excellent! I think about going back!

Great resort but lacking in many ways

Pools are just pools nothing exciting about that.

Staff barely know English.

First night our room was full of bugs and we got moved to a different room but with an extra $45 a night added cost...

It was a bit pricy - $450 a night but it was a busy week. Nice place!

This place is beautiful!! It's worth every penny you paid for it. The hotel is big and there are many restaurants that belongs to the hotel. We have lunch at the hotel's restaurant and it was delicious. I also like the fact that they know it hot, so the bathroom at the main area have aircodition in it .The room are nice and clean. I don't have anything to complain about this hotel at all. I like the fact that you can walk around for shopping or food.

The Location is fabulous [ very touristy area ] your in the middle of everything shops, restaurants,Surf shops,a Brewery,Casino-small but close by. Staff was great I just wonder how they put up with occasional traveler all day long it's beyond my patience.Facilities on the Ocean side is the best though the only snag was our room was small { room 111} great location Ocean level we had a TB room { Tsunami Bate } you have to think about that with all the active Volcanoes in the area.
Of all the Hotels,B&B,Motels that we have been to all over the World this one is the absolutely the best included breakfast ever hands down{Oceanside part of the Hotel} we stayed 4 nights that's about all we could handle being in a small room still highly recommended by a Old Salty Dog.

Large hotel complex, many different pools, good restaurants and close to the beach.

Definitely recommended! Try the snapper plate, while sipping your drink, enjoy the scenery. Prices are reasonable and the food is worth it.

A beautiful hotel very close to the beach with a very nice pool area separated from adults only and the other part more familiar, the rooms very comfortable and clean of the best.

This is an awesome hotel with direct beach access. Rooms are clean, staff are friendly, and the food is good! I will definitely be back!

We loved the open air restaurants on the beach and the friendly little town.

I just wanted to thank the staff at the Diria. I was not a guest, but I was in a car accident on the road in front of their hotel Easter night and the staff was very helpful. They checked on my well being, contacted police and stayed with me the entire time helping with translation etc. The security guard also was able to get the license plate number for the motorcycle that sped off. Thanks again for all your help. Pura Vida!

Check in was smooth but did not receive most friendliest of reception for a Wednesday thru Saturday stay during Spring Break. Return visits to front desk were okay.

Don't stay in room 624 or nearby on southeast exterior of Lagoonside bldg if you want peace and quiet as there is El Mercadito de Tamarindo across the street that is extremely loud with live music until at least 10pm. Room is small for a family of four compared to Arenal hotels and in need of an update and deep cleaning; found hair on walls and shower in bathroom along with previous guests shower products - DISGUSTING! Box spring on one queen bed was sagging on one side and other bed leaned toward middle. Spoke to front desk and damaged box spring mattress replaced. Lagoon pool was good for families and plenty of iguanas to keep you entertained.

Hotel is in heart of Tamarindo so close to tons of restaurants. Back of property by beach is nice with several pools, well maintained landscaping, and awesome sunset views. Breakfast buffet was adequate with good waffle station. Tamarindo is a beach town so prices are expected to be higher, only true disappointment was with quality of room.

This hotel is NOT a 4-star hotel.

They make you wear wristbands like a cheap All-Inclusive Resort and this is not an all-inclusive resort.

Check-in was very slow. They couldn t find our reservation. The room isn t very nice. The walls are paper-thin. We could hear everything from our neighbours and from outside as well. The cleaning isn t done very well. The maid forgot to give us new towels. We ran out of toilet paper numerous times. The bed doesn t have an actual comforter. It s basically a thin sheet and you can use a throw on top on the sheet. It took them a very long time to bring us the throw.

The shower never has hot water and only gets to lukewarm.

The gym is awful. It s tiny and the equipment is super old and makes sounds.

On multiple occasions, the phone will ring once, and as soon as I try to pick up, no one is there. Such a disturbance.

The breakfast is hit or miss. It depends what options they serve in their buffet. Our first day was great, and the next was not.

The only good thing is that it is the only hotel on Tamarindo Beach and it is close to everything in Tamarindo.

Excellent place, there are rooms on the other side of the road a bit uncomfortable to go to the sand to take the sunset, clean and very empty pools, very good service, excellent room cleanliness, rich food and side as well as all tamarind, machines ice dispensers well located and operating at 100%. I would definitely like to go back.

An amazing place on the beach is really not cheap and get paid for the money

Cocktails were too expensive for the quality. otherwise everything is great!

Wonderful pool facilities, beautiful landscaping and views. Shower wasn't the most enjoyable, but overall our favorite thing about staying in Tamarindo, staying at the resort. No hot tubs to speak of though, there were small pools with jets, but it was pool temp water.

Can't go wrong staying at the Diria. Has it all. Super clean, modern, great place.

Beautiful location and great service. Would be a 5 star rating had it not been for the lack of hot water on our last day there.

Spent our honey moon in an ocean front room - couldn't have been more beautiful. Great service and food, the pools were great and massages. Definitely recommend!!!
