We had an excellent experience in this wonderful hotel for 4 days (12/24-27). The landscape is one of earth s paradise. Amenities and staff are wonderful. For almost every evening we enjoyed dinner by the pool. Although the hotel is not in front of the beach there is a very short walking path that takes you to playa langosta.

Stunning villas, private pools, spacious bathrooms, beautiful bedrooms, full kitchens with separate dining room, private parking with rod iron gate, this is the best hotel in Tamarindo! There is beach access, though be forewarned the beach is rather rocky. Nevertheless, you will enjoy a quiet beach with natural ponds in cratered rock formations. Lots of fish and curious crabs to see in crystal clear waters during low tide. Beautiful Tamarindo beach is very close if your craving a traditional beach with decent surf. Hotel staff is phenomenally courteous and always willing to go the extra mile for you. Free breakfast is amazing with personal chef to prepare your eggs just how you like em! Pura Vida!

Oh, Cala Luna! A magical place where dreams come true. I couldn't ask for a better trip. They helped us set up all our adventures and we had the most amazing Spa and massage experiences! Yes, I say multiple because they were so good, we couldn't have just one! The ladies that did our massages were so amazing. Not enough words to describe how amazing our time at Cala Luna was. The town of Tamarindo is so fun and beautiful! You will love it all!

Perfect location. Easy access to the town, but private. Rooms are beautiful and well maintained. Complimentary breakfast is excellent and the staff super friendly and knowledgeable. The fitness classes are intense and yoga is relaxing yet challenging. The pool and bar/restaurant area are romantic and provide different moods of your choice. That beach though! AMAZING!! Spent most our time there for every reason you see in the pictures.

Very small and cozy hotel. Rooms are scattered in a dense vegetation that provides privacy and houses all the interesting wildlife such as the howling monkeys. The hotel staff are extremely nice but not very proactive with their work. On the other hand, the reaction to the complaints are swift and well executed. The pool is kid friendly and is occupied by kids all day long. This leaves the beach rather empty and private, possibly the best part of the hotel. Highly recommended.

While this is a very nice hotel facility, they employ housekeepers that steal! We had over $500 stolen that was hidden in our belongings while we were at this hotel and management has refused to do anything about it.

Beautiful hotel with all the facilities. Delicious food. Very friendly staff. A quiet and not very busy beach is a 5 minute walk. The hotel operates with a conscious and ecological system of water recycling and they also have an orchard where they grow several products that are used in their menus.

Our family had a great time when we stayed at Cala Luna. The wild monkeys and iguanas were a thrill, and the sunsets on the beach were fantastic. Carlos and Enrique and the rest of the staff were excellent, and Ernest with trip reservations set us up with a good ATV/zipline trip at late notice.

I simply cannot say enough great things about this hotel. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. They have the highest integrity out of any hotels I ve ever been to. They would never advertise or recommend an activity or restaurant that is not socially and environmentally responsible. They are a family business and support other family businesses for the food of all people. The food is clean, delicious and simply outstanding. The yoga classes are included in your stay as well as other great activities. Please do yourself a favor and experience their spa. It is unlike anything you ve ever experienced before. It is not commercially based, but rather sensual and truly holistic. The dinner at La Senda was also out of this world, both the food and the full experience itself. Thank you so much and we re already looking forward to staying with you again!

I was conscientious cleaned my room for three days only asking for towels. Today my sheets were change no longer crisp cotton only yellowish polyester like sheet.
Friday I borrowed the iron and ironing board ( spoke to Mark at the front desk) the ironing board was sent with the tie to hold the cover in place tied to the release.
Had to kill worms and ants in the room. A friend of mine was fending of crabs.

Not an adult only hotel... We decided to stay there cause we saw on their website it stated it was an adult only hotel but it wasn't.
Unfortunately we couldn't cancel our reservation and we were there already. The staff was very attentive and they apologized for the inconvenient even offer us to upgrade us to a villa with private pool but we were happy to keep the suite we reserved and there's no much privacy at the Villa anyway so if you're looking to have some quite time and relaxed by the pool this not the places is more family oriented.
Also breakfasts ends at 930am so if you're on vacation looking to sleep late and rest keep that in mind...
I give them 3 starts because the staff is so kind and attentive and the place is very well kept and tastefully decorated...
The food if quite delightful as well specially at dinner time...
The messages are incredible but they don't do your feet or the front is mostly a back massage with little arms and legs...

We arrived for breakfast and was told that breakfast was not being served and that at 1100 lunch would start being served. So we decided to have coffee and wait for lunch which was about 30 minutes later. So we waited and then at 1100 am a waiter came to our table (the very first time we saw any waiters. I had to go to another eating area to ask for coffee). The waiter told us that lunch will not be served until 11:20. We were decided to just wait and asked if we could have some bread or something as we had kids with us and everyone was starving at this point. At 11:20 the waiter brought us bread and gave us menus. Then we ordered lunch a little later. There were 6 people in our party. About an hour later everyone's lunch arrived except for mine. They said it would be a few minutes more. About ANOTHER hour later we were told it would only be a few mins more for mine but everyone had long finished their lunch. I asked that my lunch be canceled as we had plans we were already late to. We just wanted the bill, to pay and then to GO. But, by some miracle, my lunch arrived and I decided to eat it as fast as I could. Then the waiter asked how everything was. We responded IN SPANISH that it was very slow. I asked if my lunch be removed from the bill and they gave us the bill with nothing taken off. So we paid and started to walk to the exit. Then someone stopped us and asked if we would like to make reservations for dinner?!! I really don't think the staff or owners at Cala Luna understand anything about direct and considerate customer service. If you decide to eat here or stay here, please arrive with the expectation that customer service is extremely slow and there is nothing you can do about it except NOT GO HERE.

Bad customer service. You are better off going somewhere else. Be careful booking this place. No follow up, no calls, nothing when there's a complaint. Like pulling teeth trying to get a response. Once you pay, you are on your own and good luck getting a refund. You're better off somewhere else within the area, probably cheaper, better, and bug-free. Not recommended at all. All the accolades are just pluff!

Spent a week at Calla Luna with my husband and two teenagers, 18 and 15 year olds. We can't say enough about our fabulous experience. From the friendly and welcoming drink and cool beautifully scented facecloth to the complimentary sunsets cocktails and the excellent breakfast included in our villa. The grounds are beautiful and we fully enjoyed watching the monkeys in the trees while eating our breakfast or having an end of day drink at the pool. The staff are all so accommodating and super friendly. We had surf lessons from Victor who was amazing and rented a boat one day snorkelling and fishing. Both of which I highly recommend. We loved the area with a quick taxi or bike ride into Tamarindo which is a busy surf town and beach. Our plan was to eat in town a lot but we were so impressed with the food and service at Calla Luna that we spent many meals there. Even if you are in the area and want a special dinner out I would highly recommend Calla Luna, you wouldn't be disappointed.

Elegant boutique hotel with fine dining and a great staff very attentive to guests needs. They even cooked the fish we caught that day. I loved the secluded lovely but rocky beach with beautiful sunset.

I stayed here four nights and really enjoyed it. Staff were very welcoming and nice. The rooms were clean and well decorated. I really enjoyed the private beach that was within two minute walking distance and the complimentary sunset cocktail. My only disappointment was their restaurant menu, it lacked variety. For example I ordered tacos one day and quesadilla the next day, it was pretty much the same item except they added cheese to the quesadilla. There is an Italian restaurant within walking distance that you should check out it s called fish & cheese and I absolutely loved it.

I got married here in April 2018 and it was incredible. The hotel rooms were fabulous. The staff was knowledgeable. The food was good. The beach was gorgeous. The event space was breathtaking. The location is far enough away from Tamarindo to really feel like a getaway, but close enough to experience the city as well. Not cheap but no corners are cut and the staff are so so SO professional. Everything you would expect from a high-end resort that cost twice as much.

Excellent hotel with very friendly staff. It is a 15-20 min walk into town, otherwise an inexpensive cab ride. They have drinks on the beach at sunset that is beautiful-plenty of chairs and hammocks to enjoy the view. Restaurant is pretty good, but a little pricey (but then again a lot of Tamarindo is a little more pricey than the rest of the country). There were a lot of families with kids staying there when we stayed. The only (minor) complaint was the howler monkeys woke us up a couple mornings-they liked to hang out right above our roof.

The staff is absolutely superb - friendly, helpful, detail oriented. Extremely well maintained grounds. A family of monkeys living on site while my wife and I were there (which we enjoyed). Bring a book and take advantage of the hammocks down at the beach!!! Divine. Can't wait to get back there.

Wow, a slice of paradise just out of Tamarindo (about 1.5km). Just fabulous, family villas, pools, own beach access, restaurant, food, staff and service. Not cheap but luxurious. There is evidence that it's been around for a while (witness marks of the odd repair here and there) but nothing to detract from the experience. Taxis can run you too and from town for a few $ or they do have bicycles.. which are OK if a little tired. With its access to the beach, you can walk around the headland to Tamarindo (about 30mins walk) at low tide or instead turn left and head to the estuary for both a quiet and pretty walk along the beach (again best at low tide).
