when you see earplugs on the nightstand you know you've made a bad choice..... you can hear neighbors listening to their TV even when they're not blasting the volume. when anyone in a 4-5 room radius opens or closes their door it sounds like someone's opening or closing the door to your room. this place has a decent location, but next time I'll gladly pay a little more and get a nicer place.

Tiny room sold as a queen. Very disappointed and not resolved by hotel. Budget air-con unit fitted to window. Many photos of rock stars on walls but I can guarantee no rock star would stay in this Poke whole. Bathroom size of portaloo.

Trendy hotel in a great location. Walking distance to almost everything with lots of transportation options nearby. Hotel has a free beer happy hour daily which definitely gives some value being that every hotel in the area charges a resort fee. Very friendly staff. The building is very old but well maintained. Room could use minor upgrading as far as furniture which is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. Overall though I would stay again.

Great atmosphere. Trendy and modern. Super helpful and friendly staff. Rooms are cozy, but comfortable. We'd definitely stay again, as well as recommend it to others! Oh yeah, free craft beer in the lobby 5:30-6:30.

I purchased my stay through Hotels Tonight which was nice because it was inexpensive and I was hoping to have a nice little getaway. Unfortunately my experience was so poor as far as the employees charging me the wrong amount of money and then not following up with me when I called multiples times to have the charges fixed. Can't say I would recommend this place to anyone visiting. Albeit the room was fair I hold customer service to be much more important.

I stayed here for a couple nights. The room was great for me and the bed was comfortable. The location is pretty good as well. The bathroom was a little smaller, but I didn't mind too much. The staff here is really friendly.

Staff very helpful and friendly.

Staff very helpful and friendly.
Walls very thin - couldn't sleep unless you turn on fan to mask the noise coming from other rooms
Bed very comfortable

The photographic work around the hotel comes off as pretentious hipster, but this hotel is clean, well-appointed, comfortable and affordable. Nice having a good restaurant attached ,( The Millers Guild). Walking distance to everything worth seeing in Seattle.

The free beer says it all about this hotel. And yes, this is coming from someone who doesn t drink. Customer service was only ok . The entire night I stayed here there were drunk guests in hallway, extremely belligerent in rooms beside us. Very unhappy. Did not have a good sleep.... that s last thing you want at a 24
hour stay (busy day) at a hotel in the middle of downtown. Room/beds/ and bathroom is tiny (at least my room was) for a queen bed . Also, I love hip + artsy places, this is not that.
I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend this hotel to friends or family.

Rooms are absolutely tiny, not sound proof (trash guy came at midnight... Great...) bathroom is a joke, although shower pressure was great. King bed was very stiff, I had to adjust quite a bit to get a mildly comfortable sleeping position. I would've been better off at an AirBNB. Also, no water cups? Really?

HIDDEN FEES.

HIDDEN FEES.

The hotel was very nice - clean and organized. I would definitely come back if it wasn t for the hidden fees.

I was charged $72 without prior warning. These were for facility fees room tax, state tax, parking and Seattle parking tax. This would be fine if someone would have gave me prior warning.

I checked into the hotel, was asked for a credit card for a USD$200 deposit. I asked if this credit card would be charged in any way and was advised by the reception staff, no. So we enjoyed our stay (with a car parked at the hotel) and at the end I went to go check out, was advised that checking out was not necessary. I asked if there was any additional payments we would need to make, such as parking, if so I would like to use a different credit card. The receptionist said there was nothing left to pay. I told her we had not yet paid for the parking, should I not be paying for this? She again said no, and we left.

Two days later and my credit card had a USD charge of $72. I was not given any notice of these, and never received a receipt or even authorized the charge. This went onto the credit card I used as the deposit card where I was advised it would NOT be charged. This was for payments I was told had already been completed.

It really sucks because it ruins the experience that we had the hotel. I will pay all the necessary fees, but the hotel needs to make sure that their clients are aware of these charges, and that they charge the credit cards we would like. And no - we were not advised about these fees at the time of booking. Also, when you ask the staff, you expect them to know what they are talking about. We were very frustrated by this experience and will not be going back.

Fairly reasonable hotel, what you would expect from a hotel in this price range. Rooms were surprisingly nice and quite adequate room (2 queens). Bathrooms were nice but small and basically no counter top, very annoying. Staff seemed pleasant. Some strange artwork spread out throughout the hotel.

Aside for a great location, this hotel is fairly standard run of the mill. The upkeep is lacking, in my room ; the shower head was limp so I couldn t even point up at me, the ac remote was broken and every vent was clogged with dust. The room was somewhat small but fine. I might stay here if I got a deal, but there are better options in the area

The thing with Hotel Max that makes it great is the staff. The team there are so awesome and seriously bend over backwards to look after you. The location is also great, as it's really Central without being in the major tourist trap spots. The only downside is the rooms are a little small and the Red colour scheme through the bathroom is a bit in-your-face and confronting. The final tick in the box that makes this place such a well-rounded spot is the free beer every afternoon for guests. Great work.

We attended an event located in a warehouse type space accessed through the lobby/garage of Hotel Max. Good size, could hold 100+ people. Food was mediocre small bites. The surf and turf was cooked well though.

We had a great night s sleep at Hotel Max! Although the room was a little basic and the bathroom was way too small, the bed was so comfortable! One of the best we ve ever slept in! Plus the hotel is very conveniently located, close to many of Seattle s great attractions. Staff were friendly and polite. Take a look at the cool art all around the hotel.

Good location conditions,
Easy to go to cafes and places where you wanted to go.
The coffee and beer service and the reception staff were also very good.
Although the room is small, it's OK because I only sleep.
There is no bathtub.
It was clean and fashionable.

It was not cheap, but in Seattle
I think it is affordable.

We're only on town for 2 nights, but this is very centrally located in Seattle, close to anything. We took a tour with Northwest Tours and got picked up from the front door! It seems to be an old building, but the way they converted it is very hip. We had a small corner room with a small bathroom. Lots of windows & light, but had blackout shades for the sun. No mini fridge, which we needed. Only noise is from the tram on the street below. The towels are soft and the face wash/shampoo/lotion provided smell amazing! Overall a cool place to stay!

Overall we had a very enjoyable stay. The price for the location is a great value. The rooms and bathrooms are as small as I've ever seen, but the decor is unique and enjoyable, and everything seemed clean and new.

I found this was one of the cheaper hotels in the downtown area, so I really didn't expect much. That being said, the hotel was actually really nice. Everything seemed clean and newly remodeled, but it still felt like it had a lot of charm and non-pretentious edginess. When you're coming to Seattle you don't want some boring hotel without any charm. The others reviews mentioning the small rooms weren't wrong, but we were more than comfortable with 4 adults in a double room. The shower and elevator were a bit small, but that's not a huge issue. When I'm in Seattle, I will definitely look at staying here again.

You walk into a very cute lobby to be greeted by a less than welcoming front desk staff. No one that works there has a suggestion for anywhere to go other than the pier. They do not know their way around town. They checked us in over 45 minuets later than our guaranteed check in time even though we had asked for early check in. They entered our room with out our permission We were gone for less than an hour. Super not cool. Also everything in the room was very dusty. The beds were super comfortable. It's a nice location close to everything. I would not stay here again. I stayed at a super 8 the night before and they were way more welcoming helpful and accommodating. I just got a $500 smoking fee from them. I don't smoke. They said it smelled of pot. I definitely don't smoke infront of my kids. These people came into our room after we left because my 11 year old pug barks for the first five minuets we leave. And then they tried to say I smoked in my room. Are you crazy. $500 is insane. This is the worst hotel in Seattle. Do not stay here you will be happier st a motel and you're a bad manager replying to my post online and doing nothing to actually follow up. That's a cop out. This place is ridiculous. Do not stay here.

Nice renovated hotel. Rooms are decent sized but our restroom was a bit tight. Lobby was very nicely decorated. Loved the bass in the lobby. Free gumballs and water nice touch too. FREE BEER!!! They have free beer in lobby in afternoon for guest in the afternoon. Just found this out on second night. Overall, great hotel Hotel is also nicely located and walking distance from most things you'd want to go to...but free beer.

A trendy hotel... The Hotel Max is in the heart of Seattle within close proximity to most of the downtown area. The staff is very helpful and friendly. While the rooms are trendy, they are hardly functional and are very small for the price. Accomodations are also very limited. Perhaps, it was just me and not what I am accustomed to.

First, the location of the Max is absolutely fantastic. In the middle of everything, the Max is walkable to just about anything you'd like to do in Seattle. The beds were also wonderful. Huge, puffy, and with your choice of pillow, sleeping was ridiculously comfortable. However, the positives end there. The room size is kind of outrageous, especially if you're staying with another person in the room. There's scarcely room to walk around in the room. My room had two beds and outside of the beds, there was perhaps a 1.5x6' rectangle between the beds and a 3x8 rectangle between the foot of the beds and the wall/bathroom. There's barely space to breathe. Add to that the paper thin walls, and you feel like you're staying with a couple of strangers. You will hear anything your neighbors say. And on to the bathroom - it's a shoebox that you have to step up to. It's also unbelievably short. I'm 6' nothing, and I had to duck to get in and out of the bathroom and in the shower. And size of the bathroom - think 5x5 most. Someone with a modest wingspan should be able to touch all 4 walls from the center square. And as other reviewers have mentioned, the units are wall-mounted A/C. They're loud. Like, really really loud, especially considering the size of the room. My head was a foot away. Yay. Add to all of that the cost of valet and that you're charged for wifi when many other competitors comp it, and you're wondering why you tried to save a few bucks. Spend a little more and have an better traveling experience.

The staff were so very helpful on arrival and departure. The rooms were good sized, although the bathrooms were a little tight. I thought it was a good price for the location. Walking distance to the light rail and great restaurants.

10/10.

Lvl 2 Local Guide here, don't let yourself be intimidated. My reviews are always brash, but always fair. I like to hit up my favorite clubs in the flesh, and after a hard day in the paint, I rest in the sheets of Hotel Max.

Terrible experience. A friend booked a block of rooms at this hotel for her wedding. The hotel's computer system glitches and despite providing a receipt that clearly showed the booking for two nights, the staff tried to kick us out after one. Upon showing proof that the rooms had been booked for two nights, they said they would take care of it.

Two months later they charge my credit card for the 'extra' night with no warning.

Absolutely terrible experience.

Update:

Hi Kevin,
I would like to reiterate that my experience with your hotel has been incredibly disappointing. My initial experience was positive, and when we first encountered the issue at hand, I presented them with the initial booking confirmation made by my friend. Your desk manager told me that it was their mistake and that they would take care of it. Several months later and I see the charge appear on my credit card with no warning. I disputed the charge because it was unexpected and I wanted to make sure my card information was not stolen from or by someone at your hotel.

I have sent you the original booking confirmation. It clearly states that date of arrival was 9/17/2015 and the date of departure was 9/19/2015. It also clearly shows prepayment.

The single most disappointing part of this is the simple fact that you did not even attempt to contact me before you charged my card. When I called your office to inquire what happened, I was shuffled off to a voicemail box, and never received a return call with more information.

Further Update:
After multiple disputes on the charge and proof of purchase being presented again, the hotel has since fixed the issue. This process was incredibly unpleasant as I had to call them, get shunted to a voicemail, hear nothing back, leave a public review, and follow up with the person who responded to the review by email. It could have been handled quickly and pleasantly if they had responded to any of my requests for information before I posted a negative public review.
