Sweetwater is a great place for food. Crab cakes are good. Lobster bisque and tomato soup with grilled cheese are also good.

Spectacular beach and resort. Not for the budget minded! Cute shops and ice cream are fun. Beach had gold sand (mica).
Great shells and play areas for family.
We had a great time at the Hotel Del Coronado as usual! The atmosphere is beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. We love shopping around and enjoying the beach. Highly recommended!
Incredible staff & experience. We rang in the new year s at the Del and couldn t have been more pleased with our room with a view.
New room in the Cabanas. A lot of work to do, but they took care of us. Thank you
We visited the beach & enjoyed a Spicy Bloody on the beach for Father's Day
Grab a cocktail from one of the beach bars and enjoy the sunset (and airshow to the naval station).
Very nice and friendly. Great service, great people.
So I'm gonna go easy on them, because "it is what it is..."
The prices at the restaurant are insanely high. The ability to afford a $28 hamburger is not the point, it's the efficacy of doing so. The day we went, the rotting seaweed was being removed by huge bulldozers. This event occurs a few times a year on their beach, and it's not their fault. I would recommend calling first. The history of the building is amazing. Walk the facility and check out all it has to offer.
I love this hotel. It has so much character to it, so many restaurants and amenities. The pool is nice, but the beach is great. There's a pizza restaurant that has pizza better than what you'll find in New York! Awesome labyrinth of shops on the lower level of the main building. Speaking of which, if you stay here, request the main building! Not only does it have soooo much character and history to it, but there's an awesome elevator operator who is so funny and nice. Overall awesome hotel!
We were at Hotel del Coronado over the weekend. We had a great experience especially when we went to the est. 1888 gift shop and met one of their staff Charlene. It was our first time visiting the hotel and she actually volunteered to show us around. She was very helpful, friendly and accomodating and very knowledgable bout the history of the Hotel del Coronado. I just want to thank Charlene for an awesome customer service. We will definetely coming back at Hotel del Coronado again.
Check out this Southern California landmark. Walk through the beautiful hotel have some great food check out the beach. Look the photographs of stars from The Golden Age of Hollywood.
This is a very nice historical hotel has a elevator operator to run the elevator
We spent the day at the beach. The hotel is beautiful! We rented an umbrella/chair for $25 and it was wonderful! The beach was clean and the weather was great even in January!
Terrific beach club. Classy hotel. A must when visiting San Diego.
Absolutely a great resort! This place is top notch! Any time you go to San Diego for a trip, make sure to stop by this amazing place!
The entire area is extremely beautiful and really worth the visit. Going in during a low tide make the beach much more enjoyable.
Stately hotel with a history of presidents and movie stars. This is the best of the best on San Diego's only sandy beach. Plenty of high end shops and eats. Semi private beach area for activities.
Views were exquisite, and architecture was one of the nicest hotels I've seen
We went to the $99 brunch and I can't say I'd spend $99 on a weekly basis but it's a "must do" for the occasional treat. Our service was only a tad better than what I've experienced in other buffet situations however the food was A++. Worth the visit and there's something for everyone. Eggs, beef, fish, seafood, more. Great desserts too.
During my stay, we were given a large room with two great beds. The service was very good, including the meals. I highly recommend if your into walks by the beach or good views.
Wonderful old hotel. Very pricey. Beautiful setting on the ocean.
This is a really special place for us. Been coming and staying here for many years with the family. The feeling is great here, usually not too crowded... depending on the time of year. Always a great experience! And the location is unbeatable!
Fantastic hotel feels like your time traveling almost its like your entering the titanic and Mary Poppins omg your like totally entering the movie titanic mary Poppins Tarzan like omg it's totally one hundred present 1900 omg it's totally like hello dolly omg it's like your entering the year 1900 & 1910 like omg it's amazing grace like totally awesome and the greatest hotel on earth
If you look at the 5-star reviews here. It s not guests who have stayed at the hotel, but rather - folks who have gotten dinner. Which the food is OK, I d give it 2-stars.
This is by-far the worst hotel I have stayed at. The $2-dollar motel is better than this place. Why they think it is OK to place people in rooms where there s full-constitution going on right beside you is beyond me. It s a large hotel, so those rooms should not be booked until construction is finished. I ll never stay here again, worst experience I ve ever had. Luckily, this was a business trip - in which I didn t pay for. Otherwise, I would ve left.
Beautiful historic place but very high cost to dine. Experience dirty bed covering that was not nice.
We've been going to the del Coronado restaurants for decades and I've always had a good experience until this time.
The food we received was mediocre at best, the service from our waiter was literally the worst service I've ever had. He had only 2 tables to serve, he waited 25 min to take our (but he was standing 3 feet away doing nothing) food came out at different times, he never came back to us unless we waved him over..which we had to do 5 times.Lunch took over 2 hours because of poor service. After paying $300 for 4 people and $25 for parking I don't think we're going to be going back.
We had Christmas Eve dinner here at the Hotel del and it was an awesome over the top experience for the family. Little pricey but a great experience for the kids and the little one was free +++ since she eats like a bird some days.
Historic Place you need to visit while in San Diego CA.
Very nice hotel. Access to the beach and good places to eat.
Magnificent gorgeous hotel, so much history for this island. Tour and stay, enjoy the dining, enjoy walking the halls of this hotel and grounds and relax on the beautiful beach. Everyone should visit this wonderful part of Southern CA. Coronado is a city within its self.
Everyone knows the rooms are expensive here, but for good reason. We didn't stay in one of them, but we toured the grounds and had a drink at one of the restaurants on the beach. The hotel del is like a community all on it's own with shops, restaurants, ice cream parlors, the beach. there's almost no reason to leave, but Coronado is such a nice town that it's worth getting out. the service at the bar was excellent and our drinks, very good. Can't wait until our next visit to San Diego. We'll book a room here.
Beautiful place, lots of history. Taco shack on beach has fantastic pina coladas, and food
I go annually to relax at the del and there is only one issue that happens every time I check in--they never have a room for me that matches my request as I need a disabled room. They always try to put me in the tower building when I specifically book a room in the Victorian del hotel. Makes for an unhappy welcome and not a good way to welcome a guest. I enjoy going so try to overlook the check in issues...everything else is great!
old and dated the historical value and views are cool
Very disappointing. We have looked forward to staying at Hotel Del Coronado for many years. What a let down. It obvious the hotel has not been maintained. You can tell from the minute you arrive. First room had ants that got in everything and a water leak in the closet from a secondary drain line so bad they had move us to different room. The second room was worse! No AC (and it is 90 degrees here today! TV didn't work, the room safe didn't work, the dogs in the room next to us constantly barked and the room smelt terrible. The worse part is the manager said there was nothing she could do. The hotel is only 50% full but they wouldn't give me a clean room with AC. Sad.
Great location and amazing environment. In the heart of Coronado, which gives you easy access to the best of what Coronado has to offer
I didn't stay here, just visited & had lunch so it was a pretty awesome historic place, walkable to beach, but can't give it a full 5 stars until I am actually able to experience it firsthand.
We booked the hotel for a week and upgraded when we arrive. Our room was disgusting! Mole in the bathtub, carpet was dirty, the was black mole in the corners by toilet, wood peeling from chairs, and there was a very odd smell in room. The beach is very nice, and the pool was suitabe. Nice workout room included. The room was so disgusting we stayed only one night. We canceled and booked the rest of our trip at the Pantai Inn, which was where we stayed before (It's Awesome!).
Was a brief visit unfortunately, but what a place! Great atmosphere, went to listen to some live music, spent a few hours listening to a very talented local musician, Gonzo Gonzales, on a Friday night, bar was full of locals and hotel guest, on a breezy summer night, it was magical! It's a beautiful place full of history and charm. The service was phenomenal, thank you Luc! We will definitely come back!
I've stayed in the front and back. The back is better. The original is nice if you enjoy walking on floors that are angled and have soft spots. The service is ok, probably has seen it's day! Room service is less than stellar. Lunch at the bar is priced five star but in a three star joint! I enjoyed the stay but wouldn't bring my family.
Check in was a breeze. The lady that checked us in was so sweet and cheerful. The hotel has lots of charm and character. Tons of activitiesto do on property. And so much to do within walking distance.
Fabulous ambiance, especially on the patio. Wonderful meal with the Surf and Turf being the best. We also enjoyed the lamb and lobster dishes. All desserts were superb; Lavender Panna Cotta, Guava Creme Brulee and the Lemon Tart. All courses were generous and the staff incredibly welcoming.
I attended a spa day at hotel del and it was amazing. The staff were great, amenities can't be beaten, and they offer a military discount. I highly recommend for a special gift or getaway
Always fun to browse! Unique items and friendly service.
My family, including a 2 month old and two year old, was put into a room immediately next to an open construction zone. Paint fumes gave us headaches, our children could not sleep because of the constant noise from workers, and our door opened to a pile of trash and an unprotected staircase covered in open nails. I am someone who travels multiple times per month for business and have always been understanding and forgiving of the need for normal hotel maintenance. We were not provided a pre-emptive warning or apology. I advise other travelers to consider the cost and historical prestige of this newly-Hilton-managed hotel and weigh these data points against what I consider to be a concerning lackadaisical approach to the safety and wellbeing of their guests. Placing a guest, especially one with with young children, in a room three feet from a nail covered staircase without any safety guard or warning is to me a big red flag and there are plenty of other places to stay in the area. I wish I had stayed elsewhere. The staff has been universally fantastic and welcoming, at or above the level one might expect from a hotel in this price range, but there appears to be a problem in how the facility is operated.
I travel a LOT and am well-versed in 4/5 star hotel pricing, but this place is a joke. $19.91 for my daughter to call my cell phone from the room. $35/day to self-park. Meals cost double what they should, and taste like hospital food. I'm talking $30 for a bland 10 inch pizza, $6 ice teas and sodas, $28 shrimp tacos with precisely ONE shrimp in a pile of mush, etc. How's the sleeping? Glad you asked. Damp room, Fire alarm went off THREE times in one night starting at 3 a.m., and one person at the front desk who was zero help (they later tried to offer me a free meal but I insisted on a comped night). The main pool is straight out of Best Western and the rooms are nothing special. Yes, it looks nice but don't be fooled - it's a 3 star tourist trap charging prices that Ritz and Four Seasons would be ashamed to try. Never staying again.
Historic, elegant, classy, charming and so much more. What a fantastic place for a wedding!
We enjoyed our brief summer stay so much that we returned to spend Christmas at this iconic grand hotel. I love that beautiful California style of heavy dark wood panels everywhere, a beautiful and stately hotel. Yes, the place is crowded so much that I'm glad I knew my way around the lobby is crazy busy from 9am until 9pm but after that the hotel quiets down. It was fun sitting in the hallways wrapping presents for my kids, walking through the lobby late at night when nobody was around it's just a graceful hotel that still manages to be a memory for so many people. The great number of families who clearly have an annual tradition to dine at the Del for Christmas Eve or Christmas day is truly wonderful. I like being in the hotel as a guest and we stayed again in room 3410 because I love the balcony and the peek of a view onto the ocean. It is one of my most favorite hotels and who can beat the location?
It's an iconic hotel in San Diego - it may be old but it's well-maintained especially now that restorations are on going. The view from the oceanfront restaurants was wonderful. It was fun and relaxing to walk along the shore.
Hey, so I rented a room at this hotel I think it was room 3327 and the sink didn't work. It kept turning on by it's self at night and heard some noises coming from the bathroom. Otherwise, this was a very good hotel. Try the breakfast and the pool. Just fix the sink problem and the sounds if you can :)
Super busy during summer and the holidays but a San Diego classic. Definitely wouldn't recommend coming here for a quiet getaway but stop by for the views and people watching. Also, you can have your dogs stay here with you so that's a perk!
We went just to walk around and it was neat! I wish I would have known that they do give walking tours (including a haunted one!) at specific times, so make sure to check that out before going! Took about an hour and a half to walk around and see everything.
I know low stars for a landmark but I was not to impressed with the room, walked to pool and the staircase smelled like mold or urine. Staff is friendly, room service good, food was delicious but pricey. I would stay again to stay in a different part of the hotel
If you haven't got to see this hotel when you're in San Diego to take a chance it's beautiful and his construction like you can't even imagine on a scale that you can't even imagine but it's beautiful well kept and trying to stay a night
Beautiful historic hotel on the water, wide variety of rooms and views.
We come to this hotel to enjoy the best soft white sand beaches. There is a coffee bar on the first level that serves really good coffee.
And icon of the beach. One of the nicest places you can visit on the California coastline. If the room prices are too high just have a drink at their wonderful bar overlooking the ocean
For a valet only service for $50/night, the valet service sucks. Long wait just to get to the window and also to get the car!
Went to the Victorian tea, loved it, it's expensive at 65 pp as compared with other tea locations, included free champagne, finger sandwiches were great, desserts were tasty though the selections were nothing special, just a bunch of tarts with different fruits, like strawberry tart, blueberry tart, raspberry tart and lemon tart. Do you need that many tarts, really? Usually other tea places have many specialty dessert, not tarts 4 ways. Anyway, I will normally buy myself a fruit tart every week, so that works out for me, but I do feel they can do better. Anyway, it is the Del and that what you are paying for, I still loved and enjoyed every bit of that.
The hotel is beautiful. Absolutely stunning architecture, pristine grounds, good shops and great drinks. The beach is gorgeous and well maintained.
Great shops, recommend the Gelato shop around the corner. Nice stargazing sky by the beach.
Awesome place. Awesome experience. Awesome view. Beautiful
I just visited for the scenery and it was great. There was an ice skating rink right outside the place meant for family and the beach side view was beautiful. The interior of the hotel was amazing as well because of the decorations and the friendly management.
I had visited this hotel several times, but never stayed in the hotel overnight. It was always a little out of my price reach. I had booked a 3 day weekend, and paid to upgrade to the turret room above the front entrance, it was a big spend for me, but I wanted something special for our 1 year anniversary.
Amazing room, until 7:00 AM came around. Jack hammers. More jack hammers, industrial bob cats with jack hammers attached to them.
Okay, so we got out of bed early, and went down for breakfast, to hear.... MORE JACK HAMMERS!! The sound of construction seemed to pollute the air everywhere you went on the resort. This went on for all 3 mornings we stayed there.
Hit and a miss for our special weekend. A polite heads up in advanced would have been appropriate. I would have definitely taken a refund and gone somewhere else.
A note to Hilton - some people work hard to afford this resort, they use their few vacation days to visit your resort. There isn t do overs for everyone, available days off, funds for more flights, ect. You have a responsibility to do more than just fill rooms. People trust you with their special moments. A note during booking about the noise, a phone call in advanced, an attempt to be human and value other people s time in advance would have gone a long way.
You can do better.
Has a great view of the beach. Breakfast bar has large variety. Pretty expensive plus you pay 30.00 for parking.
The hotel is a really beautiful building, and it's right next to the beach. Coronado Island is a great place to visit, and really not hard to get to at all.
We come over to this hotel for conference in December. It s decorated winter land Christmasy. We can hear and see waves from our balcony. There are ice skating for kids and parties for adult. Staffs here work hard to put smiles on people s face. I want to especially thank for house keeper Fe Escalona, she does a great job to keep our house clean. I ve talked to her for few minutes, she even didn t stop working while talking. This hotel recruits quality workers to do awesome job
The beach is very clean and beautiful compared to other public beaches. You are able to grab a drink and watch as the dynamic ocean powers it way onto the shore. There are also many shops in the hotel that carry brand name items. Overall a good experience especially if you are a dog owner.
The hotel itself is incredible. The history, the view, the staff, and the beach are really great. However, there are many aspects of this place that made it a one time stay. The price on everything is expensive as most hotel/resorts would be. That being said, almost nothing is included. You want to go sit on the beach? That costs, quite a bit. You want food? Very expensive. A bottle of wine delivered to the room? It is forty dollars more than buying it from the gift shop for the same exact bottle. We also had issues with how loud it is here. The air traffic is tolerable but the noise from the staff, construction, and events got to be a nuisance. It would be loud before 7 in the morning whether that was a weekend or weekday. We also had issues with our plumbing in both of the bathrooms. On top of the drains not draining we also lost water pressure for several hours one day. Right as we were about to leave, we saw a roach crawl across the sink. I hope that this was just an off five days they had but I doubt we would return to this particular hotel.
Very upscale, but food, services, and things to do didn't disappoint at all. Beach is great. Plenty to experience in the area within a short Uber ride. We hope to be back soon.
Amazing front desk service. They're so polite and helpful. Very patient. Rooms were clean. Beds were up to par. The food was great and the location is great as well. Will return as long as the customer service and room upkeep exceeds expectations.
Limited or expensive parking. Great views and activities even if you are not staying there.
Classic Bayside feel, friendly, gracious staff and great food with a fabulous view.
I don't even have to stay at this Hotel to know what a beautiful place this is
The hotel is beautiful, but I am lost when trying to find meeting rooms at this hotel. The map provided for the meeting is marginally helpful. The facility is nice and so far somewhere that I would like to visit with my family.
A classic hotel that should be visited at least once. Shocking prices; breakfast buffet for 2 is about $100. But, access to the beach is great and there's always something going on.
Beautiful hotel. Although we didn't stay there we enjoyed walking the grounds and seeing all the historic aspects of the hotel and grounds. Very pleasant staff.
This is an iconic hotel on Coronado Island. Lots of history behind this hotel. Beautiful architecture. Built right next to the beach. Amazing views!
