It has always been a dream of mine to stay in this hotel so this past year we saved up and paid for a ocean view hotel room. We check in and they don t even acknowledge us for 30 minutes then they give us a Partial ocean view room when we paid for a full ocean view. So one window we got a partial view of the ocean and our deck looked out on the parking lot. A big disappointment when we paid so much money for a full ocean view. They took advantage of us being young and not their tipical fancy guests. The room they gave us was disgusting. The wallpaper was falling off and there was mold under it and the window was peeling (I have pictures). For all that put us through they gave us a $50 credit (which barely covered the cost of parking) and we got ripped off $200 for the room they gave us. I can t believe they would treat us like that. We paid a ridiculous amount for a very disappointing weekend. I would not recommend going here.

I love the beach here and the ability to see something truly classy and spectacular. The movie Some Like It Hot was filmed here and so there is a sense of walking into the glamour of the past. The difficulty to finding parking but once you do, it is a great place to grab an ice cream, see some sand scultpures, and take in the view.

This is a very expensive hotel and nearly the entire thing is under construction. Definitely not worth the price while under construction. We stayed in the Ocean Tower on the resort side overlooking the construction which begins at 6am sharp. When we complained, we received a text from the resort calling the views historic because we are able to watch the improvements being made.

The pools are closed except for one which is tiny and shaded and a 15 minute or more walk along the beach from our room. The room itself is spacious, but inadequate And in desperate need of updating. We complained that our air conditioner was broken in one of the rooms, causing the room to be quite hot with no resolution from the hotel. Because of the construction, opening the balcony door for a breeze is not an option. One of the outlets is hanging out of the wall. The first day, one of our rooms went uncleaned - most likely just overlooked by staff, but this level of service is totally unacceptable from a resort that promotes itself to be of such a high caliber.

While I do believe that the expansion will make the resort better, I would recommend waiting until 2022 before booking a stay here. I wish that we had stayed somewhere else.

We were visiting the beach and walking around taking pictures. The drinks at the Hotel del Coronado's beachfront bar were too tempting to pass up! They weren't too pricey considering where we were and they were delicious!!

The Sunday Brunches are outstanding, top of the line of things to do while in San Diego. You can follow-up with relaxing on their outside decks, taking in the wonderful ocean view, a walk on the beach or wandering this amazing historic hotel! Even the drive getting there, over the Coronado Bridge, makes it that much more exciting! It s old-school class and charm - definitely a must while visiting San Diego.

$20 to park for 2 hours. I recommend to bring a blanket and thermos of hot water hot chocolate packets and disposable hot cups. I brought my family and my young kids loved the lights, playing in the sand, and complimentary firepits. We went on a Wednesday evening around 6-8pm and they also had fun little carnival games for the young ones.
I knocked a star off because the kiosks to pay for parking take forever and always initially give an error. Then when leaving, the guy in front of us kept having issues and we had to wait longer than necessary. I'm surprised they don't have someone monitoring the parking downstairs. Or a call button for help. I mean, it's the freaking Hotel Del!

The property and rooms are great. Parking???? Well one word sums it up - AWFUL.

The parking lots are undergoing construction into subterranean parking lots. In the meantime, it is 100% valet parking. As a result 30 minute to one hour to drop off and just as long to pick up. The is problem is made worse by the fact of the set check in and check out times

The Hotel Del has been a favorite of mine since the 1980'S and recently a favorite of my family. This was all under the previous private ownership.
My current experience is below average. Other than selling products listed on their website then claiming ignorance, back to that in a moment, the new Hilton ownership does not appear to care about the customer experience at all.
The hotel is in the middle of substantial renovations. This is good thing; a property like this must require a massive amount of upkeep. Unfortunately the noise in the surrounding rooms is obnoxious due to construction. They didn't shut down portions of the hotel but simply are working around the occupied rooms. The rates sure don't reflect the construction phase, the restaurant options are rediced and extremely pricey; they simply seem to be focusing on the Hilton mentality of getting as many business groups as possible to make the most money. It is a shame considering the special appeal this property had that Hilton will not try to keep this experience special.
We decided to request and pay for an upgraded ocean view room after our first night. The hotel accomodated and we moved to a room that had a full ocean view...directly above a full maintenance facility below our patio. That's alright, we could see the ocean from left to right. When we told them about a clogged sink and the cold water faucet leaking water from the handle, my wife was told "don't you have two sinks?" When my wife said that were paying extra for the upgrade so we expect the room to be fully functional they told my wife "well you requested the upgraded room."
Ok, back to the blatantly false advertising. We browsed Hotel Del's website in advance of our trip for kids activities. The hotel used to have an amazing kids club that provided fun activities and the website still indicates they do. Our son kind of likes cooking so we found that they offer a "future chefs" class on Wednesday nights. There is a detailed description of what they do and our receipt clearly shows what we signed up for. We asked the concierge about actual food the kids might have so we would know if we needed to feed him prior to the class since they don't finish until 9 p.m. We were told "no, no don't feed him because he is going to have plenty to eat there. Apparently they had some chicken tenders and possibly hamburgers there which is fine. They had smores, voted on a movie to watch and apparently played some games. There was "zero" activity based around cooking or any discussion thereof. We didn't need babysitting, we thought we were signing him up for something he had an interest in. We would have rather have spent those three hours with him. Look at the website...the classes are listed right there and that is not what is being delivered once they accept payment.
I am very dissapointed to say the least. I don't see myself booking here in the future. It hurts a little to say that since I have had such a great experience in past years. I have spent lots money here in past years and feel a little betrayed.
The Lowe's property is just down the road and will have nice rooms and the standard hotel chain service. No need to pay Hilton for the clearly poor service they intend to provide going forward.

Additional issues that seem minor in comparison:
1. Bathroom ckt breaker tripped when using hairdryer. Had to call maintenance at 6AM to continue preparing for meeting.
2. I'm a coffee drinker...coffee not replenished in room 2 out of 3 days...I finally called down and it took hours to get a couple k-cups.
3. Construction crews cursing in hallway whiley son was in room
4. Food/drink prices "crazy high" for what this hotel currently is. Since most guests are here for business it goes on the expense report but it was a bit irritating to see the menu prices and drove us to eat at some very nice restaurants in town that are worth the cost.

Iconic hotel located on North Island. Reduced fee parking available with purchase, otherwise parking in general is scarce. Restaurants with views of the ocean. Didn't stay at the hotel so can't comment on that.

The Hotel Del is a great weekend spot and a perfect place to take visitors. With so many options for food and drinks within a short walking distance, it's a perfect place to spend the evening. It's free to just walk around and enjoy the view. Can't beat the beautiful coastline coming right up to the property!

The Ocean Towers are surrounded by a noisy unsightly building site. The room was expensive, but very tired. Just not good enough. We are so disappointed in our stay which was our last night in the USA following a wonderful California road trip.

Beautiful hotel but plan ahead if you want to do the ghost tour. Parking also leaves something to be desired. Try for free beach parking or metered parking if you are just visiting and not staying there.

The hotel itself is a nice historic property and the location is ideal. The only issue is the immense crowds thronging everywhere keeps the service at a minimum so as a hotel guest its a bit disappointing but not much they can do about it. Just part of the experience!
Had a good time nonetheless!

I walked the beach with my wife. I didn't stay here. But went into the bar area because my wife needed the rest room. I bought a soda so I wouldn't get turned away for use of the rest room but wasn't bothered. Awesome atmosphere. Lively. Great musician singing and playing the guitar. Look expensive to stay. Checked prices. Yup, lol. Ill stay down in Chula Vista or San Ysidro when I visit Cali.

A great tourist attraction. We were there over Christmas and it was decorated beautifully. Even if you're not staying there they let you walk through the lobby and all the gift shops and the Beach area. During this time they had an ice skating rink right on the beach so that was great to watch. We went out to the restaurant at the end of the pier for a drink and to relax. It was a beautiful day and a great view.

Stayed for the weekend to celebrate a birthday & had a great time! Told them ahead & they really made it special. Roasting marshmallows on the beach was so worth the price, even being cold & windy. Speaking of worth the price, Sunday brunch is the best anywhere!

Hotel del Coronado is a historic San Diego landmark and shares a beautiful place in my personal life story.

I was married at the Del on the beach many years ago. I enjoy coming back to the hotel to this day and enjoying a few days of relaxing vacation on the silver Strand.

I have dined and had drinks with many celebrities while staying at the Del including George Clooney who was absolutely a treat to talk with and who after dinner asked for a personal tour of the hotel!

My wedding was absolutely amazing and the hotel staff at the time did an amazing job. I can only assume that under new management Hilton hotels will do just as Wonderful of a job making dreams come true as what I believe to be the number one wedding destination in America. A property so magnificentthat Walt Disney himself had to copy it in creating their Grand Floridian hotel in Orlando. One thing is certain, just like Coca-Cola the real thing is where it's at!

This is a nice place for a walk along the beach and doing some sight seeing. I did not actually stay at the hotel, but my understanding is that it is a touristy area. that being said, is a beautiful beachfront area.

Living it up at the Hotel California. Wonderful old world hotel with an excellent beach. Spend the $ and get the beach chairs to enjoy the waterfront & sunset. The waitresses will get you drinks 10x faster & deliver them to you. Sure beats the bar lines & you get the best view at the place.

I can't say more about the Hotel Del. Five stars! Comfortable California-inspired rooms, great dining and shopping and incredible views of the ocean all around. I've been coming to Coronado and the Del every summer since 2006 and plan to continue.

So very beautiful in its historical way. Best to enjoy over sunset. Food in the restaurant is highly recommended. Dont forget to get ice cream break and sit on the lawn overlooking the ocean.

Beautiful beach front hotel. The staff are attentive and curtious. As soon as you approach you can see that this is not your average hotel. The building is old but has all the amenities you would want. If you like the beach this is an amazing place to stay, you are literally steps from pristine beaches.

It's the Hotel Del...a slice of California Beach that might also be a trandimensional portal to a uni/multiverse of impeccable resort and attentive staff. I dunno, a lot of people think I'm crazy. Still...give em a try sometime!
