My visit to Hotel del Coronado is great because this hotel is a historical landmark/tourist attraction hotel. Along with the hotel, Coronado Beach sits on the property with cottages. They have fine dining restaurants and shops.

Nice hotel to walk around. Prices are a bit absurd ($70 to park for the day?! Yeah, I'll walk a few blocks from my on-street spot) but worth seeing for its design and location.
Very historic and interesting place. Beautiful beach adjacent to the hotel. Definitely worth the time to check it out, overall a lovely hotel.
Many presidents and famous guests have stayed over the years. It is also haunted so you won't ever feel lonely.
Definitely an old-money crowd. Don't stay there if you want to turn up.
If your intention is just to have a quiet relaxing getaway and sip on something foreign while your wife/girlfriend/mistress is downstairs spending the price of a small island on a handbag, then it's definitely the right spot.
That said, it's worth a visit for the historical aspect and nice views.
Beautiful beach n hotel. The Coronado is where Baum wrote "The Wizard of Oz. Marilyn filmed "Some like it Hot!" Here also. Long walk in the sand to the water.
I went here to explore this historic San Diego site and found that it had a lot to offer. Bar, restaurant, cafe, souvenir shop... Great tourist spot all around.
An extremely beautiful hotel that kept its historic look. The hotel lobby is just exquisite and has beautiful wood furnishing. Staff are very friendly and courteous. There food at the restaurants are good too! The hotel faces the beach and you can get a beer and relax on the beach to watch a beautiful sunset. It's a bliss!!!
We visited the island just to check out the hotel. What a beautiful place! Over 100 years old, wow! Food prices were very expensive so we explored the hotel and the surrounding areas. We purchased a small gift from the shop. All employees were professional and courteous.
Beautiful historic Marilyn Monroe did several photo shoots there outstanding beachfront cafe and lounge area located in the beautiful area of Coronado Island a must-visit fantastic weekend getaway trip prices for rooms very but worth it
Beautiful hotel on the cost on Coronado Island in San Diego. Maybe the most desirable place to stay if you can afford it. The island itself has a ton to do and the hotel was a awesome experience
Loved the hotel ambiance. Food onsite is pricey but you can beat the beach views. The garden and grounds was beautiful. Staff was helpful and friendly.
Beautiful gorgeous Hollywood history! Expensive but very very special! Truly right out of the movie Some Like It Hot you can imagine Jack Lemon right there on sand chasing Marilyn Monroe so COOL!
A little bit of heaven on planet earth. Wow! Also, I would love to give a BIG thanks to the lovely front desk lady, Christina. She was fabulous. I had a small issue checking in but how she handled it was amazing. I truly appreciate her customer service. Hotel Del Coronado Management, please have some words with her.
Christmas Buffet in Crown Room is great we've been coming for 15 years...general atmosphere going downhill fast...feels like a Disney vibe in the older rides section..not exclusive any more, just expensive.
Although the food was incredibly expensive the portions were large and of good quality besides being surprisingly delicious. The view and ambiance helps to make up for paying nine dollars for a beer in a plastic cup. Definitely got caught in the tourist crowd.
Cool place. Kinda reminded me of Hilton Head Island or Myrtle Beach. Has the nice southeast resort feel to it. Nice restaurant on the beach with great views, good drinks, and good food. A must see if you are visiting San Diego or just want to take a mini-vacation in town.
This used to be a place Southern Californians could take visiting friends and family for a drink in a beautiful historical location. It's gotten so expensive with the new management that they are in the midst of destroying tradition, and their own business.
You can't even park near the place without paying at least 50 bucks. The Sol Grill menu prices are absurd. Vibe is destroyed...Just rich tourists now, which really does change the energy. View is still beautiful but you have to be wealthy to get near it. I say next time we'll park down the street and walk the beach... Sorry mom you can't come because you can't walk that far.
I understand charging for the view, but 18 dollar tiny drinks in plastic cups and 26 dollars for three little tacos with no sides is too much. Greediness will destroy this place within three years. You heard it here first.
It's sad to watch so much tradition and history die such an ugly death.
Beautiful but expensive which is to be expected. But we sat on one of the outdoor couches out in the newly renovated patio facing the ocean and were asked to move to a table because we weren't ordering food so the server can save it for someone who they could get a "bigger tip" from... their words, even though we just paid for a $50 pitcher of margaritas. So that was a little annoying.
The hotel del Coronado is an amazing historic place. The views are incredible. Loads of shopping and restaurants within walking distance. Staff is friendly and efficient. A great place to stay. Would definitely recommend
Although its clean and beds are comfortable it does get noisy especially in the morning they need sound proof walls and windows if we are gonna pay an arm and a leg to stay there for 2 days
Excellent place to stay, especially enjoy staying in the original Hotel section. Fantastic amenities and the beach is right there. My only criticism is the cost, to say it is very expensive...does not come close. But if money is no issue, then in my opinion...there is no better place to stay in San Diego.
The Hotel Del is a majestic luxury resort hotel on Coronado island. Its location on a spectacular beach is unbeatable and the amenities on property leave nothing to be desired. Yes, the hotel is over 130 years old, so rooms in the main building reflect that charm. However, since Hilton purchased the property recently it is undergoing a major renovation (while preserving the historic authenticity), so this should only make this resort even more desirable. We stay here often and highly recommend the Del.
Beautiful resort hotel...lovely beach, trendy shops and restaurants. Public white sand Del beach next to the hotel's private beach. Hotel rather upscale and pricey but very nice and Coronado has some great restaurants, shops and interesting places...quick 10-15 minute drive from DT San Diego. Loved the area.
Coronavirus had this place shuttered for over 3 months but thankfully they're back open. Limited, but open. Service is still impeccable and such a beautiful place. I'm hoping that they do something with the roof because its beginning to look dated. But aside from that, it's still heaven on earth for sure :)
Massive hotel. Very clean, and the beach isn't overly crowded. When we stayed, a local artist created gorgeous sand castles. The areas directly surrounding the hotel contained beautiful beach homes. Restaurants both at the hotel and further up the street were fantastic. Much busier than mainland San Diego. The roads directly surrounding the hotel have the most congested traffic I have seen in San Diego area
One of my favorite places in SD county. A definite must see. The hotel is just cool to look at and walk around the grounds. They have various events there during the year. Several shops and a few different restaurant options. Great ice cream shop. And the beach is right there.
This was my 4th stay at the Del and this was by far the least impressive! The condition of the facility as a whole has gone down hill and there was construction everywhere! Our business meetings were cumbersome due to loud construction background noise. Funny thing though, their prices for everything were ridiculously high, with no consideration of the inconvenience they were putting their guests through! Our group will not be using this facility again.
We did not stay at this hotel. We visited the hotel so our children can see the beauty of the structure and past of it. The way the hotel was made and the history behind it was the best part. I rate this hotel with 5 stars because of that and nothing else.
We had a bad experience at the Hotel Coronado. We went there for lunch. Restaurants did not have air conditioning for 90 degree weather. It was too hot to stay for lunch. We were charged $30 for parking since we did not spend $50 for validation. We thought we would be paying $5 and did not notice the fine print on the ticket. We wasted $30!
Every time my wife and I visit San Diego, we go to Hotel del Coronado. This time we spent the whole day at the beach in front of the hotel and I must say it's my favorite beaches in the area, super clean, with fine sand and killer sunsets. We got some appetizers and drinks at the restaurant and the food and service were great.
Spent the afternoon there with family. We came via the family boat and stopped on the island. We shopped a bit, had some ice cream and shopped a bit more then headed back to the boat. It was a beautiful day!
Didn't stay here, but I went to the winter Christmas event and it was a ton of fun! Free carnival games for the kids, ice skating rink and show, beautiful location, friendly people. Had a great time!
Cool history, nice beach, good staff. Loses a star for everything being priced sky high when what you get is pretty average. The hotel and grounds are beautiful but the rooms are the same as any nicer hotel out there. We had the chance to see multiple roomsand they vary so wildly. While that adds to the cool factor of the hotel, it makes it hard to plan and results will vary. The fifth floor rooms looked like they had low ceilings. The third and fourth floor had the nicest offerings. Fifth floor would be very fun, if you're prepared. The amenities are decent, no microwave in the rooms, WiFi is very spotty. Overall, I personally did not see the luxury aspect of this resort, based on the hotel itself. It is a very fun place however, and if given the chance, and the price was covered by someone else, I would visit again.
Attended the breakfast buffet which was great, but seriously over shadowed by the amazing views and rich history of the Hotel del. By far our favorite part was just strolling the beach and walking the grounds. Also quite enjoyable was visiting the shops to pick up some souvenirs from our visit. Can't wait to get back.
Beautiful rooms and beach, it's an experience that no hotel in America can replicate. Shops are plentiful in the hotel and around the area, if you plan to be in the hotel parking lot the area has limited parking.
This was our first visit here and we have been pretty disappointed. It is clear we are staying in a very dated structure with thin walls, uncomfortable beds and questionable technology. Everything is overpriced and leaves little margin to see any real value in our stay. The TV has been out for 2 days, the heating and air system is loud enough to keep us awake at night and a person in our party said their room did not have hot water for our first morning. The room didn t get cleaned our first day and the property has a number of construction projects going on that make it look messy. The location is awesome, the beach is beautiful and we were hoping for a better hotel experience....
Went to show some out of town guest some of our beautiful beaches and local spots. We had a great time while on the patio and beach of the Del. Service was great and the food and drinks wonderful!
Great hotel with ample beachside activities. The hotel is near downtown with a variety of eateries nearby. Watch out for parking as it's very expensive. The hotel can be very pricey but on weekdays, it can be reasonable.
The atmosphere was amazing. All the Christmas decorations were amazing. The only thing I didn't like was prices were pretty high. $7 to decorate a sugar cookie.
Great service and location. However, seeing so much butt everywhere ruins the ambiance. Swim bottoms are really not appropriate in the lobby ladies. Yuck.
This place is OLD so it has tons of great history, also the beach alongside the hotel is my favorite out of all the other beaches in San Diego, it's so clean and the sand seems to sparkle.
This place is positively gorgeous. The view is amazing. We didn't stay here, we just visited for an hour or so. The shops are lovely. The music in the lobby seemed unfitting. Such a classy atmosphere but they were playing less than classy music at it just seemed like it was out of place. Anyway, we loved our visit here!!!
I love this hotel since I was 15 as a San Diego native I always enjoyed going on dates sitting out on the rocks in front of the hotel listening to jazz music coming from the hotel. The rooms are beautiful especially if you get a room overlooking the ocean. The food in the restraunt is very tasty. I love all the events that go on in the hotel. The staff members are very professional and polite. This is a must if you visit San Diego
I wandered down to this historic hotel from the Ferry stop (approx. 2 mi). It is a beautiful building on the beach with fun people watching and building exploration opportunities! If you stop by, be sure to check out the Coronado Historical Socirty's free museum - just a block or two down Orange Street.
Stopped by on our drive to Anaheim and the resort is beautiful! Feels like a turn of the century seaside retreat. Old world architecture and quaint surroundings. Would love to stay there someday!
Wow, their usual great customer service isn't even worth a 1 star - I'm still on hold for over an hour just to reserve a room - they are totally messed up, no one knows what to do, and the line keeps re-routing me to the wrong people who CANNOT HELP.
We walked around the hotel on a visit from out of town. Beautiful, old world charm with a clean and modern flair. Several dining choices and delicious ice cream!
Understanding we are there during Covid the lack of service was disappointing. No one would pick up when calling down to the front desk. Tried to get a reservation at the onsite restaurant. Would not take reservations at the restaurant. Informed we had to use open table. When we did ask a server for a referral to a nice restaurant (by the time we tried to book at the onsite restaurant there were no reservations available) he referred us to a local restaurant that we ended up leaving due to lack of cleanliness and poor menu. The hotel bed was uncomfortable and with their remodel the room looked like any other Hilton room you would find elsewhere. They ve removed the charm and great service from this beautiful hotel. Such a disappointment.
The Hotel del Coronado is a visually stunning landmark, and it is a must visit for anyone going to San Diego! With beautiful architecture and pristine beaches, this is one location not to be missed.
Beautiful place to stay at, service is great, so many things in one place, Christmas decorations are so beautiful. They have an ice skating rink right next to the sand, love it. Christmas summer vibes.
We were in town visiting from Phoenix and decided to go to the Hotel Del Coronado for Sunday brunch. It was an amazing atmosphere there is a lot of history to learn about in this hotel and it's incredibly beautiful. Brunch was very good but much too expensive in my opinion. It's something you have to try just one and then be done with it.
A wasn't a guest here, I just visited it but it was a very pleasant place. There was a nice beach front with a pool and a bar/restaurant. A very scenic place for some photos by the hotel looking out to the beach
This hotel is a California landmark with a similar style to the Claremont in Northern California. Everything you need is here, with a spa, salon, pool, beach, tennis courts, and shops on-site. Downtown Coronado is also adorable and walking distance from the resort. This is a great destination whether traveling romantically or with family.
