Amazing staff and the beach is right there. Very well maintained. Loved it can't wait to go back.
Amazing staff and the beach is right there. Very well maintained. Loved it can't wait to go back.
Construction, crowded by tourists not staying at the hotel. Outrageous prices per night and resort fee.
Classic hotel. Very old. Well maintained. Attentive staff
Great piece of history. Ride the elevator, the attendant was a treat. Parking is expensive unless you're shopping there. Better to just park across the street
What a beautiful place! We didn't stay here, but we did rent bicycles nearby and ride all up and down the island.
Historic, beautiful place. Views are fantastic and the beach is one of the best - large and fine white sand.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Del. The resort has everything you want as a family or as just adults! The construction was a mild setback and left us wanting to come back and see it when all the renovations and additions are complete.
What a gorgeous building. I was only there visiting along with my relative. It sure has a long history and caretakers of the hotel takes good care of it.
The service there is always great. Room service is pretty descent. I will say that when I put a UV light on my very bottom sheets...they were dirty and stained as if it wasn't changed. I travel with my own sheets for this exact reason. Didn't think the del wouldn't meet standards.
Construction on room, lied about upgrade and overpriced
Always a beautiful place to visit. Discovered that Friday and Saturday there's a guy that makes amazing sand castles.
Beautiful location. Great service. Wonderful experience.
If u appreciate historic Victorian grandeur, with gorgeous grounds and long and wide Pacific beach like I do, it is a large bit of Heaven. Only walked around. Can't comment on rooms, rates, or service.
The drinks are expensive but they are delicious! Very good tasting drinks and the view is the cherry on top
food was good view was beautiful but cost me $200 for lunch with mother and uncle.
If you are not a guest, forget trying to go here just to eat. Parking for non hotel guests is nearly impossible to find...we drove in circles for an hour looking for empty parking space that didnt exist. Valet parking was full.
Hotel Del Coronado is a San Diego icon. This is my second stay at the resort and everything went well for the most part. I am not sure, but I think the hotel upgraded our room at the front desk when we checked in. The room was clean and beautiful with an ocean view. The staff was friendly and helpful. We did have a couple of issues during our visit. We visited Mootime. Creamery which it's their on location ice cream shop. The shop is narrow and my wife in a wheel chair had a difficult time navigating the shop. Worse yet the place was not very accommodating when they saw we were having issues. They began helping us but then started helping other customers I the middle of our order. We felt skipped, unimportant, and put off by the experience. The ice cream was good though.
Very old hotel in a nice location. Rooms and facilities are outdated. Good service in general. An air-force military base is in the proximities so be prepared for noisy landings throughout the day/night.
Prices are way too high for what you get.
Fantastic place to visit. Friendly staff, beautiful beaches and fantastic service. Definitely recommend to anyone
Great place close to the water that offers a wonderful shopping experience and eateries. Great view and a historical place that truly captures the essence of Coronado Island. I was fortunate enough to enjoy the visual delight that is the Hotel Del Coronado during their Christmas season. Their lights are amazing and they provide an area for ice skating as well. The Del does not disappoint!
Hotel del Coronado is very historic and beautiful place, I love the red roof and how it lights up at night. It's a very cool place to visit were famous people have been, kinda walking in their foot steps. It was just an awesome but short and sweet experience. I'll visit again!
It's a gorgeous building with beautiful views, but a shame that there's no attention paid to the health and beautification of the beach from which they profit. You'd think with $18 dollar margaritas and chip + guacamole they'd have some leftover resources.
Just visited for the day. Very beaitiful. Worth a visit.
We had our holiday Christmas party at 1500 Ocean. The wait staff and the food were amazing! Excellent place to have a party.
Iconic place. Incredible property. I love the heated pool and food and drink service on the beach.
I got engaged on the fantastic ice skating rink here! Very elegant throughout all times of the year, including the spa services!
My room wasnt cold. Had to go to maintenance a few times to get my AC fixed. I was not impressed with the service
I have been the DJ for many weddings and events at the Hotel del Coronado. It is an amazing, historic venue.
The famous Hotel del Coronado is a historic hotel, well-known from the Marilyn Monroe film Some Like It Hot. You ll find various homages to the film scattered throughout - with particular concentration in the gift shop. The hotel is very Californian in appearance, and richly appointed on the inside with gorgeous dark wood walls, crystal chandeliers, and beautiful flower arrangements. The courtyards are offer classic features including palm tree gardens and casual sitting areas. There are numerous shops and eateries at the hotel including several outdoor bars. You ll also find gorgeous cottage style accommodations in addition to the main hotel. The hotel is located on the Silver Strand beach area and offers stunning views of the coast. This is a heavily touristed area, and you may find it crowded, but the hustle feels like part of the enjoyable atmosphere. I was only here for a day visit, but would definitely book a stay in the future. The hotel also offers haunted and historical tours. There is no fee to simply visit.
The grounds are gorgeous and were pergect for the antiques roadshow
Way overrated. Awful room, not clean, no view unless you appreciate construction works and the car park. Book into a motel, catch an Uber, spend the saving on an extra round at Miguel's Cocina.
This hotel is first class. A few friends recommended it and related how amazing it was. My wife and I researched the hotel before booking and were very impressed. We stayed there late July/2014. "The Del" as locals call it, is the most beautiful hotel we have ever stayed at. The Victorian style is amazing, you really feel like you have stepped back in time, although it has modern amenities. We spent 7 days there and we both fell in love with the hotel from moment we arrived. The on-site restaurants are very good and the view from the beach is amazing. The staff was eager to please and the San Diego weather is beyond perfect. The off-site restaurants in Coronado were also very good and are only a short walking distance from the hotel. We will be going back!!!!
Did not stay there, merely walked around it on a beautiful sunny day. The hotel is beautiful, like a castle. Rrally hope to stay there some day if I'm ever that rich :)
A beautiful hotel and even prettier with Christmas decorations. Nex time, we will stay here instead of just visiting.
Impeccable per usual! Everything I've come to love about the stay, great food, will be back.
Shame on this hotel! Nice place to stay but their employees... not so nice! We were harassed by their parking lot monitors!! An employee complained when I lightly tapped her car door with mine.I gave her a courtesy wave to which she came out of her car to confront me. No damage was done not even a scratch, I made sure. she told me she knew the parking rules.... ok? I responded accidents happen. She ran in the hotel and told them we were cursing at her and threatening. NOTHING of the sort happens but security came out after having us wait and basically told us to leave and that they didn't believe my story. The whole situation was handled soooo poorly that we will NEVER go back.
Stopped by to walk along the beach and eat some ice cream. The rocks along the ocean are as cold and unimpressed with us as our families but the sand was soft and warm. Moo Time was kind of crowded but tasty. Not as many unique flavors as they used to. If you're a guest at the hotel expect a lot of non-guests but there are a few amenities (fire pits, lounge areas) that are only for guests.
This place was a decent hotel. Service we received wasn't up to par. Our room was never cleaned once during our 3 day stay and service was always slow.
This is a fantastic vacation get away. It's family and couples friendly. Everyone is focused on taking care of you. Beautiful white beaches as well.
A must see hotel in San Diego. So much history and what an older historical landmark should be. I enjoyed just walking the grounds and seeing the shops.
Fantastic location especially if you get a room with a view of the beach, though the resort is showing its age.
What an amazing resort. Upscale but not stuffy. Great food served by great staff and the setting was superb
Awesome outside bar with huge deck. Great views and parking not too bad
Beautiful grounds for wandering and strolling along the beach. Our party got drinks on the sundeck bar to watch the sunset. Great ambiance, but drinks just OK.
The Good: At 130 years old, these rooms look classy yet aged. They do not feel like standard cookie cutter hotel room and that is quite refreshing. And the old attendant operated elevator is quite the perfect touch. Half the staff seemed to be rather upbeat and helpful.
The Bad: The other half of the staff lacked personality and seemed to have a rough time communicating any sort of intelligent conversation. The books in our room were dusty, long strands of hair hanging from the shutters. Lots of maid and laundry carts in the halls.
The Ugly: Talk about hidden fees. Valet parking at $50 a night is required as is a $35 per night resort fee.
As with most things on Coronado, everything here is beautiful.
Beautiful hotel that you can access even if you are not a guest! That's right you can shop, walk through it, have drinks, eat or go swim on the very nicely groomed beaches. Watch as they have professional sand castles building and other fun activities. It's all free too!! I recommend parking on the south west side of the hotel if you can find a spot. There's a little beach entrance there and that way you don't have to pay for the hotel parking.
My Wife and I went to get some a dessert at their ice cream shop, and check out the hotel and beach. It was a very cool historic building and they had a nice clean beach. We would certainly be interested in staying there on future visits to the San Diego area.
Nice outdoor bar are with good drinks and food. A but pricey but ambiance is nice.
My husband had business in San Diego and we wanted to take our kids to see the ocean for their first time. We decided on the Hotel Del because of it's close proximity to the beach. We had a fantastic weekend. We chose to walk to nearby places for meals rather than eat at the hotel and we found lots of great, reasonably priced food nearby. The beach and sunsets were beautiful. It was convenient and fun to stay so close to the beach. We also did s'mores on the beach (through Hotel Del concierge) after dark and although a little pricey, we had a great time.
Lovely place to stay with great customer service and amenities
Home away from home! Cabanas have coffee & refrigerators in room. Beautiful resort, great staff. Always, something happening...On the beach...
We've never stayed at the hotel itself, although we've definitely thought about it for a local weekend getaway since we love the overall atmosphere, but he have gone to the Sunset Bar there multiple times for a drink or two to watch the sunsets and it's always been a great time! The drinks are definitely on the pricey side but they always have a good selection of beers on tap and a good mixed drink & margherita selection. This is a great place for some drinks and maybe a bite to eat at one of the many restaurant or bar areas after a day at the beach. The hotel itself and all it offers is what makes the Coronado beach one of our favorite beach locations in the San Diego area.
I have six bed bug bites on my leg from staying in room 3330. The room was small, old, and looked nothing like the photos on their website. The stay was more expensive than it was worth. Although the location is beautiful, I personally would advise everyone to stay away.
Very pretty. The staff looked very professional and were attentive as well as friendly. Everything seemed to be maintained beautifully!
Just went for a few drinks at the bar. It was a really nice place. Drinks weren't too expensive and the atmosphere was excellent. Being right next to the Coronado Beach with a big bonus too
Check out Mootime Ice Cream located on the outer perimeter of the hotel. (2 thumbs WAY up!). Also, try meandering across the street to the Brigantine btwn 4-6pm for a grrreat Happy Hour. Three locals (including Hotel Del staff) recommended it, lol.
Location is beautiful, within walking distance of many shops and restaurants with the beach only a few steps away. Rooms are clean, employees courteous.
If I could give a zero I would. Took my special need( autistic) son ice skating with his cousin. Paid $25 for each of them then he became frightened even before getting his skates or touching the ice. They refused to give me a refund.
Absolutely beautiful. Parking is $20 in the underground, so try to find a spot on the street if you can. Bring some snacks and drinks. $29 for a sandwich at the beach. $52 for a pitcher of Margaritas. Visit and learn what it's like to be rich!
Valet parking is a bait and switch. It's $60 for 3 hours. Don't let them fool you. It's a nice place with a great beach view.
Walked into the shops at the Del, great selection of clothing, luggage and collectables for men women and kids.
Beautiful decore, always interesting sights in and around this heritage Victorian hotel. Now has a scaling rink in the back.
Beautiful location with surprisingly great margaritas.
Historical and beautiful. No wonder Marilyn Monroe filmed and stayed there. Some say that her ghost still wanders the halls.
Cool beer and a beautiful view, who could ask for more?
The hotel is beautiful, but when I checked in they "upgraded" as they claimed to room 3309. The room needs major work. The water for the shower never got hot. I called the front desk, the girl that answered suggested I ran the water for 15 minutes, I did but the water never got hot. So no shower. She did not do anything about it, but say I'm sorry I'll have maintenance look at it. That doesn't help when I'm checking out, she was very snobby, needs to be retrained and take some hospitality classes. No matter what you look like, or who you are always always treat your guest with the same respect.
It's a beautiful historic hotel, definitely a San Diego landmark located in the heart of Coronado. The service at the bar is superb, everywhere in the hotel you will be taken care of. Be sure to check out the Del Beach if you want to do stores and a bonfire. And if you stay at the hotel, inquire about the haunted room if you dare! :)
Just stopped by to check it out, but looks like a great place to come for a high end experience in San Diego. Parking is fairly steep.
Ocean towers are too far away stay in the original building!! The hotel is amazing but it is an early to bed town so get it in during the day
NOT AS A GUEST- We stopped in to enjoy the historical architecture and have a drink. It is very well maintained and beautifully built. There is a lot of history to see here and was very impressed. Funny side note, we were in line to order drinks and trying to guess prices for 2 top shelf drinks, the lady in front ordered 2 16oz bud lights and was charged just over 20 dollars before tip. we thought our Gentleman Jack and Bombay martini would cost 30 or more, we were pleasantly surprised ot get a 22 dollar tab, morale of the story buy booze not beer here!
Historic hotel on the beach. Lots of shops and such to shop at. Parking can be tight but it's worth it to see.
Older hotel that was very nice. Enjoyed our stay there. The rooms were spacious, with exception to the bathrooms, but not a problem. Staff was very nice.
Nice hotel and awesome service! Expensive, but the view is great! Couldn't get a better location!
Beautiful exterior view. Only saw this place from the outside
We had a pleasant experience at the famous Del Coronado. The premises were great with all the amenities that one would need, and the location was perfect as well, just a few steps from the beach. The infrastructure felt pretty old, although I can see how this would be a charming feature. There was one thing that underwhelmed us. We booked the stay through the Luxury Hotel and Resort Collection from Chase, which grants you VIP "treatment" along with other perks. We did not really feel the VIP treatment, and felt like any other hotel out there. This made me feel like I could have booked the room separately from the LHRC and save some money. Other than that, everything was great.
It s a gorgeous classic San Diego Vacation must stay and enjoy
Dropped by for afternoon drinks. Service outside was good although a little slow, no coffee available on the deck although theyll let you bring it out from inside
Did not stay the night but visited some restaurants and the beach next to it and it was very pretty and relaxing
Gorgeous hotel with Victorian style building. Great view at the bar facing the beach.
the rooms were comfortable for my family and I, but the price was just wow lol
We have booked a stay for September and have tried for two days to contact the hotel directly with our questions. Every time we call the direct number we are connected to someone overseas who cannot answer our questions or help us. When you go to the Hilton Honors site you can t leave a message. It s constant circles that get you nowhere. If the manager reads this please tell us how to talk directly to the resort. Heaven help us if there was an emergency. It s ridiculous.
Very nice rooms and great view of the Beach. Definitely coming back again
Beautiful old hotel. Bars, shops, scenary, etc. Bring your wallet!
Short visit but this place is private and has a lot to offer, big pool for the family, steps from beautiful sand and the ocean, shops, ice cream, and bars and restaurants.
Like traveling back in time to a more sophisticated, genteel era!
Wonderful place, food was good, valet parking expensive
