My boyfriend and I came to Coronado for a baby moon (I am 37weeks pregnant) and new job celebration. We wanted a few days to celebrate and enjoy life before our bundle Of joy arrived. We book a two night stay at Hotel Del Coronado with an ocean view. The hotel is nice but for the price we are paying it s not worth it. The price is not an issue if it lived up to the expectations. I am sure we are paying for the name more than the luxury. The rooms are decent but not four or five stars. I expected the room to be exceptionally clean and it was not. The room needed to be dusted (please look at the pictures) and cleaned more precise. I am not sure if the hotel provides guest with complimentary water in their room because we were left work two bottles but one was already opened and sipped. The wall paper in the bathroom is peeling off and the mirror and furniture have seen better days. The best part of our room was the ocean view. The staff at the hotel restaurant were not that friendly. On our first night, we went to Enzo a pizza restaurant at the hotel and they host barely said three words to us and refused to seat us. He said the restaurant was fully booked. It was not. There were many open tables all throughout the night at least until 9:30pm because that s when we went up to our room.

Family Christmas special. Ice skating on the beach and an atmosphere thart can't be duplicated. From Edison to Marilyn Monroe(Some Like It Hot). Place has a past that is unique and a fur=ture that is to be enjoyed.

It's a graceful but aging beauty that is not being maintained well enough to warrant the high rates. It is living of its glorious past. Needs to do a lot better with cleanliness, painting ect . Its open to the general public . So that your better off staying at a hotel with reasonable fees and just go there and select tour.

This is a tourist attraction great place to visit. We go every year for Christmas and have a drink and see Christmas tree with our adult kids. Its very pricey. And parking is expensive as well. Park on the street on metered parking if possible. And eat at one of the other eateries. Brigantine and Miguel's across the street.

Everyone said we should visit this historic hotel, so we took the ferry over to the island from mainland San Diego. The ferry ride was lovely, the walk across the island was pleasant and the beach was an excellent place to walk and enjoy the distant views of the city and the peninsula of Cabrillo National Park. Unfortunately the hotel left a lot to be desired: crowded, noisy and almost like a "disney" attraction. Beautiful old Victorian mansion/summer cottage feel, but really not a must see in the grand scheme of things.

I do not recommend this hotel for multiple reasons. On our recent stay, our rooms suffered from poor maintenance, poor housekeeping and then non-existent customer service from front desk management.

Upon inspection of our rooms, I found frayed carpet, hair in multiple locations in the bathrooms, significant mildew and I found the open and dirty water access panels in the bathrooms to be unsafe.

I immediately brought this up with pictures to the front desk team member who informed me we could change rooms. Due to our late arrival one child was already asleep so I said I would think about it and check back in the morning.

The condition of the room was so concerning though, I could not sleep and went back down to the front desk at 10:30 pm asking to be allowed to check out early due to the housekeeping and maintenance issues. The front desk team member assisted me with this and seemed very concerned but the manager was dealing with another issue so could not speak to me and I was asked if I wanted the manager to call me back that night or the next day. Given the hour, I asked to be called the next day.

I immediately emailed the evening front desk manager my pictures and concerns but did not receive any reply or return phone call despite subsequent emails and three phone calls. I also emailed the front desk operations manager and received an out of office notice so I waited until he was back in the office and called and emailed again as well. Five days later at 10 pm, the original evening front desk manager finally took my call and said she would waive the early check out fees (one night s room charge for each room) which I was never told about when I asked to be allowed to check out early or in the morning when I checked out) and that she d also waive the resort fee.

I will let the photos of the condition of the rooms speak for themselves. They are far below acceptable. To say they are motel room standard (2603 and 2604) unfairly maligns motels who know how to run housekeeping and maintenance.

There is significant construction going on around the Ocean Towers as well and I won t even go into the view of laundry bins and noises until midnight because I selected the rooms myself in the Hilton app and will take responsibility for my poor choice.

Beautiful old historic hotel. Toured through but didn't stay. It looks pretty swanky with lots of ornate woodwork and elegant brass fittings and marble features. Many old photos throughout showing building history. Hotel was featured in the film Some Like It Hot, which stared Marilyn Monroe!

Lots if awes. ..such beauty...the Resort, the beach, Coronado Island sight, shopping, not to mention the food also. I love the gentleman that operates the elevator. (Sorry i forgot your name). Such good vibes. Thank you.

EXPENSIVE. Very expensive. Great food. But did I mention expensive? Also having an outdoor ice skating rink on the beach in San Diego, even in winter, is the least eco friendly thing I can imagine.

What can be said about this hotel that hasn't already been said? The entire place is beautiful. The surrounding grounds are amazing. We only stayed for dinner and drinks at Sheerwater. The lobster bisque was probably the greatest we've ever tasted. The 14oz Rib Eye was stellar as well. If you're in the area, this place is definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful hotel built in 1877. Iconic property and the location can't be beat for San Diego. Well maintained, some rooms have recently renovated. It's also supposedly haunted by a ghost on the third floor...

This hotel is awesome. I just stayed here last week and am staying again next week for business. The staff was awesome and they upgraded my room out of courtesy since they had availability. My view was incredible! Couldn't have asked for more from my experience here. I will be back here every time I visit San Diego in the future!

Enjoyed lunch on the patio for our Anniversary and had a fabulous waiter! Food was delicious and pricey but worth it for special occasions. The hotel was all decorated for Christmas and unbelievably beautiful! We walked all through the public areas. The architecture is wow! Would definitely go back there.

Food was fantastic. The service, however, was lack luster. We had a reservation a 7:30, but wasn't seated until 8:30. In addition, the attitude towards the delay was almost as if we should expect it. The manager did finally come by at the end of our meal and appologize and comp an appetizer. Being that this was our wedding anniversary and they knew it, their approach to rectification was not satisfying.

The Del is a wonderful hotel, but my whole family and I have been going there for 20+ years, and sad to say we won't continue. It has always been pricey, but now it seems that's all it's about. They have taken away all the history and mystery, for what it has been known for, and what made it attractive. They have taken out anywhere but the outside patio to sit on. No more seating in the Lobby, with piano music, no more Palm Court for refreshments. The courtyard and outside lawn are utilized for any number of private events, not for guests. If it's cold or raining you can just sit in your room.....
We were all there last weekend for Mother's Day and I heard several family members mention "greed" as a term they would use, as far as the pricing and attention to the amount of "Hotel" shops now taking over any space available. As well as "Brunch being between $130 and $160 per person. Very sad because we loved the Del. We give Gift certificates to family members who love it there, when they can't afford to go any longer.Very sad to be so disappointed. Not one chair in the entire lobby to wait for other arrivals.....very sad at what that says to guests.

Just spent 3 days here. Mixed up our rooms. Claimed that a parking lot view was ocean /coastal. Front desk folks are horrendous. Serving staff are actually good. No consideration for guests compared to day trippers. Better off staying elsewhere and just visiting for the day.

If my review were solely based on the service, I would give 5 stars. However, the food was priced too high for what it is, and just not worth it. I'd still take friends from out-of-town, because it's such a gorgeous location, but wouldn't visit again just as a local.

This is an amazing hotel. Whether you re staying a few nights or visiting the restaurants, bars or beach connected to the hotel. It was an amazing environment to check out! We stopped in here before dinner to have a drink on the beach deck! Great views, comfortable setting && amazing drinks. Awesome service as well!

My husband and I had a fabulous night at the hotel. We were there to celebrate his birthday and the employees went out of their way to make us feel special. They even sent us 2 cupcakes and a bottle of sparkling wine to our room. We had a beautiful, full ocean view room with a king bed. Definitely looking forward to our next stay at the Del.

This hotel is beautiful as is the beach right out back. It's convenient to get good food and drinks while sunbathing and swimming. I am jealous of the people who stay there, because they get service for setting up umbrellas and chairs. Very nice.

I booked this hotel for a conference. At time of booking the block for the conference was already sold out. So I called the hotel directly and made three separate reservations. Since there was no one room available for all four nights (first night was going to be personal, remaining three for the conference). Person who assisted me make the reservation was very kind, though he could not do much abt keeping me in same room during my whole stay. He also gave me the dates by which I could cancel without being charged. Comes those dates for my first night (which was a separate reservation), I called the hotel to cancel. The cust service person who answered said she could not cancel without charging me as it is part of a conference. I explained to her that I did not however get the conference block and that s why I have three separate reservations (which is very inconvenient). She insisted with her decision and totally dismissed what I tried to explain to her when I had called directly and made these reservations. She then put me on an endless hold to ask her manager and she came back and said they won t be able to wave the cancellation fee. I explained to her over and over again what the person explained to me when I made the reservations and he even gave me the dates I could cancel before being charged. But she still totally dismissed it.
Honestly the area is pretty but with this kind of customer treatment (and all the chaos and noise during the stay cause of remodeling) this hotel isn t worth it at all. I used to think it could be a getaway place for me and loved ones but not anymore. Interacting at that level with the cust service folks there was very unpleasant and I d rather stay a bit far
Away from there and can always make
It to beautiful Coronado anyway.
Do not recommend!!

Pretty nice hotel at night, though there's not much to see or walk around. We went for the Delights on Christmas and that was highly disappointing, only a small section in the center of the hotel. They had a ice skating rink that was nice. There's lots of overpriced restaurants around there.

An absolutely beautiful and serene location to spend the day or night. From the quaint shops within the hotel to the scenic beach only steps away from the hotel, you will find plenty to see and do. The staff here has always been great, the grounds are well maintained, and the rooms are comfortable.
Definitely worth checking out if you visit San Diego.

It's old. However it's also an icon with awesome views. If you can get past the price tag and get into the "location, location, location" mindset you'll be better off and able to enjoy it more.

Several floors.

Several floors.
Front desk personnel are professionals.
Up-to-date amenities.
Lots of celebrities and fabulous events take place on the property.
Nice and cozy lobby. Dim lit and walls are plastered with history and present-day features.
Parking lot structures. So many visit here some people walk from other hotels, park on/down the street. The entrance is guarded by booth and the polite guide you in or turn you around with proper instructions.
Outdoor seating areas.
Located on beachfront so the views and sunsets are priceless.
Very clean atmosphere.
Exquisite landscape features.
I'll definitely return and recommend this location to ALL.
Shops and restaurants are located on the lower levels.

It's a good place with a great, long Beach to walk on. It is historic, but also a bit outdated. As one night expect from a historic beach front resort in San Diego, everything is overpriced. Parking as a guest is $40/day. Valet is $50 and noon guests are treated to $70 for a full day. We've done all our eating off campus, so can't comment on the restaurants. The gym is okay, but a bit cramped. The yoga room is quite nice, though.

When in San Diego you just have to allow a full day or half a day to explore this incredible island. It will edify your soul in so many ways! First stop, Hotel Del. Catch the sunset, have some ceviche while enjoying the views and try their ice cream. What more can you ask for!

Me and my wife stayed at a Victorian Bayview room for a couple of nights. It was beautiful, the staff here is very friendly and willing to help in any way they can. It's a bit pricey but it's worth it to get away and relax.

Visiting the Hotel Del Coronado was the highlight of my trip to San Diego. We spent an entire evening enjoying it's beach and surrounding shops and restaurants. After a spectacular sunset, they lit up the entire building with twinkling lights. It was simply magical.

The Hotel del Coronado is a historical gem that will transport you. I loved the beautiful mahogony panels and intricate carvings in the lobby and public areas. They have done a great job of preserving the character and beauty of this historical landmark. It is a must-see in Coronado.

By far best historic hotel in San Diego. Popular with tourists and locals. Located just on the beach with convenient walking distance to downtown Coronado. It has all amenities you can imagine with the style.

This is one of the finest places in San Diego. Top knotch service from the curb to your poolside lounge. In winter/holiday seasons, they put on a small ice ring. A bit pricey, but a lot of fun in an upscale setting.

What a beautiful historic hotel! There are shops underneath for shopping. There is also a weekend brunch buffet, but be prepared to spend close to $100 a person for this upscale dining experience.

I didn't stay here. I just came to check out the beach and shoppes that surround the hotel. And, it was awesome. I felt like I stepped back in time or into a movie. The hotel is very impressive.. Definitely looks like a resort that only movie stars and presidents would be able to afford. But, there's a beautiful public beach that you can access... and definitely the nicest beach I've ever been to. You already have unbelieveable weather. There's gold flakes in the water. The views are second to none. I would love to go back again.

Has anyone had a weird Kate Morgan experience while staying at the Hotel? Well I have. We went to room 3327 and 3502 and on the way there one door opened 2 times and then shut. We said hello hello but no one came out. Then on the way back room 3327 locked it lock. Then last night I heard what sounded like 2 women from the old days with a wired laugh. Very interesting hotel. A must stay!!

We were on our anniversary trip while visiting hotel del Coronado. I was planning to book our visit in this hotel, but did not. So went and checked the place. Really liked ir, it is very scenic. So I would plan to boo my stay in hotel Coronado for our next trip to San Diego.

The hotel itself is interesting and location is fantastic but the room I had was dated, dirty and extremely noisy. The carpet in my room was pulling up in several places and was filthy. Also was joined by this little guy. While it is an iconic building, I d suggest staying elsewhere and just stopping by to visit.
