Worst service at the bar. This guy was just rude to customers. I got charged for a beer and a colada $25 and didn t even get a napkin, this guy did even care to give us a receipt. Worst customer service I have had. I ll think about it twice before I come here for drinks ever again. Honestly, I think he didn t ring it up to keep the cash, super dishonest.

Historic seaside resort...the ghosts of ambience past almost come through the walls. Multiple restaurants, shops and unique amenities like a seasonal skating rink draw guests into making their own memories. Surrounded by multi-million dollar properties and yachts, everything is first class so pack a suitcase full of your favorite currency. Reserve some to ransom the Bugatti from the parking fees.. The service there is always great. Room service is pretty descent. I will say that when I put a UV light on my very bottom sheets...they were dirty and stained as if it wasn't changed. I travel with my own sheets for this exact reason. Didn't think the del wouldn't meet standards... Well Done.. Thanks A Lot For Great Service

Hotel is definitely very beautiful. It's old, but if you are coming here then you already knew that. It has a different feel compared to other more modern hotels. It's right on the beach, which is great! I did not taste the food. They do have mini Starbucks. Overall a nice experience.

I am sure it is one of the best places I have been to in San Diego. I didn't stay here for the night because, of course, I can't afford to pay for it. I had ice cream here and it was amazing. The atmosphere by the way is what I really liked. The beach is unique, fire pits, and other stuff. My family and I had a memorable night.

If you love to spend your money on nostalgia but can ignore having a positive experience then this place is for you. It use to be a beautiful hotel and Hilton is renovating some areas, but for the price you spend to stay there you would think Hilton would put some of that money into training it's staff. If you want to experience a "small" piece of history go there for a drink or lunch and a tour but stay at the mulitiude of beautiful hotels around the area where you'll get more bang for your buck. But hey, that's just the pragmatic part of me talking.

If you really want to see what the potential of this hotel could be, visit the Grand Floridian (modelled after the Coronado) at DisneyWorld. That is what I imagine the hotel was in it's hayday.

"Whimsical Christmas" theme had an upside down effect on Christian guests who stared in disgust at the "upside down Christmas tree". Management failed to honor the true meaning of the Christmas tree as the sign of an endless life, for its More

Unfortunate that all these negative reviews are posted and most talk about the exact same issues yet hotel management simply replies with generic so sorry answers each and every time. I am staying here as I type, we arrived very late last night so had no idea of the room view situation until this morning. I woke up this morning and walked into the bathroom and immediately heard very clearly a conversation between a few construction workers.....so I realize the bathroom window has been intentionally covered up at the same time. I walk out of bathroom to main window, open curtain, and I m staring at scaffolding as I high as I can see. So I call the front desk and they answered my concerns and moved us to an actual ocean view room as we requested in our booking. It gets better.....so my wife and I are in the new room laying in bed trying to relax and I notice movement outside our 4 story roof area and there s 2 construction workers standing outside our window viewing whatever they re attempting to work on and oh yeah, US!!
A ton of these reviews are regarding property needing improvement so I appreciate the construction attempts but don t book guests in the rooms near the construction!!!!! $50 mandatory daily fee for valet?!?! You serious?
The only reason this review got 2 stars is the older gentleman that brought our bags in last night was very gracious and informative- he is truly one of the best things they have going for them at this time. Oh, forgot to mention....when the bag guy came to move us to the other room this morning he was cracking jokes about the room situation ....interesting stuff. Will not return. And we all know the only reason this place continues to thrive is that there are so many people out there that are curious about the nostalgia of this place but refuse to read these reviews and realize that we aren t making this stuff up. Sad stuff. PS....We just finished breakfast in our room, they left off the coffee we asked for, but hey, what do you expect when you only hand them $90 for a couple omelets.

Very unpleasant experience. Check in took a long time outside in the heat. Check in is at 4 and the room was not ready until 5 o'clock. We were told that there will be no housekeeping available, how do you stay at a hotel for 4 days at approx. $700 a night with no housekeeping? There were constructions going on at 2 different locations at the hotel so every morning you wake up at 8 with noise. Too many people considering the current condition. The required measures due to the COVID situation were not followed at all. Way too many kids running around at all times of day and night. Every service was so slow. Then 2 days after the check out my credit card gets charged twice. We got back to our beautiful home in San Juan Capistrano with the views of the ocean and really appreciated being out of the hotel. We will not go back.

Couldn't get hot water at 10 pm from receptionist. They made me walk to the bakery which was closed twice. How do you not know the schedule of your own stores? I will not likely return to this hotel.

I changed review to 1 star: at 6am loud construction noise woke us up. There was no mention of construction during reservation or check-in. This is very misleading!!!!!

I understand that smell, tiny rooms, crooked floors and walls are all part of this historic building and add to the experience, so those did not have affect on my rating.
However, service and upkeep are not on par with 5 star property.
We stayed in$500 per night room, and if you want to get experience and something to remember I would not recommend this hotel.
Arrival: valet lot was a zoo. Valet guys mostly care about quick buck on parking cars and nobody helped us with our luggage. We actually had to bring our own luggage to valet and ask and wait for somebody to just put our luggage on hold while we are checking in.
Checking in: there were 8 families behind me, so I feel I was lucky that it only took 20 minutes to pre check myself at 11 :30. I am not sure what happens when most of guests arrive around 4 pm. I did get a text message when room was ready, positive, and there is electronic check in on the app as well, I have not tried it.
Room had beautiful view, but with huge bird dropping right in the middle of it, it was sunset to remember.
Furniture in the room is chipped heavily or scratched. Some Fixtures have rust, or just plain dirty.
Room certainly needs refurbishment and cleaning. And yes it is a historic room, but historic feel of the room and upkeep of the room after two different things.
We had reservation for 3 people - room had only 2 towels and 1 set of shampoo and bodywash. We had to make 4 calls and wait half a day for extra towels, shampoo or slippers. Unacceptable in 5 star hotel.
This feels like a tourist trap, you come for the historic experience and don't get much except lines, wait, and poor service.
Beach and location are beautiful, but save yourself some disappointment and stay elsewhere, come here just to visit for a day.

This is a very pretty resort with an amazing location, nice size for groups but it needs many small repairs, a bit of training for staff in hospitality. Lounge could use some water stations and couches. Pools could be updated, soft and hard goods need updating. It wouldn't kill people to smile. Some of the services could be amped up too.

This is a beautiful historical resort! The hotel staff at check in were great! However, for the quality of room and the amenities included I d say the room rates are way overpriced. You are definitely paying for location only. Right now, it s under construction and they were working and making noise until 11:00pm on a Saturday, so that was frustrating. With all that said, I would possibly stay again just for the location but we will definitely look at other options as well.

Had a very nice afternoon at the Del. Our table had Bloody Mary's and a Mohito. They make very good drinks. Went there to see the upside-down Christmas tree and all the decorations. Very beautiful.

I stayed here once for a work conference and it was incredible. It s old school California at its best. You re right on the beach which is massive. In the winter they set up an ice skating rink facing the beach. It s so unique!

Even if you can t stay here, it s worth going to see it. It s a beautiful place.

We checked in two days ago and had to move rooms because the faucet was barely spitting out water and vibrating. The new room had a backed up toilet that had to be fixed and the bath tub doesn't drain. We have asked for someone to come fix the drain but it s been 24 hours and it still hasn t been fixed. We check out tomorrow so no sense in moving us again. I'm just disappointed with our stay here. The two stars is for the location.

Don t waste your money on a beach lounge pass. The hotel only provides ONE server for the entire beach. For $50, you can expect to wait almost an hour for any drink orders you place, and good luck finding the server when, after 5 hours of being at the beach, and seeing your server TWICE, you are hungry, thirsty, and ready to go home. This completely inadequate service (for which I paid extra) ruined what should have been a wonderful day at the beach.

The hotel is still as beautiful as it's heydays. Diamond members get free contineno which is decent however upgrade to buffet is $20 each which is expensive. Our room was large and comfortable. The king ocean front had an amazing view. Offered spin, yoga, and mermaid fitness classes. To see a pool full of mermaids was so cool. This is a high end treat and location can't be beat in Coronado

Went to the spa. Massage was pretty good, but the spa facilities are pretty limited, with one unisex jacuzzi and one inosex steam room for the men. The co-ed facilities are just a small outdoor pool. If a place offers couples massages, I feel it should have better coed facilities so we can hang out after the massage.

We just checked in. The hotel does not advise that they are under construction at the time of reservation. When we checked in, we were advised that despite our non refundable pre paid room, we would be subjected to constant construction noise. When I objected that this was unacceptable and not advised on the website at time of booking I was told yeah, I know, I don t know why they don t tell you . I was told it couldn t be cancelled and the only option was to pay an additional $50 a night to upstage to a less noisy room. No manager available to dispute, no courtesy upgrade to avoid noise that wasn t advised prior to booking no attempt to alleviate the obvious displeasure I expressed, like comping parking. Just a rude intractable front desk person and an absent hotel manager who clearly doesn t care about customer service.

Bucket list hotel. The service was great, room more than cozy and the ocean view was amazing. As an added bonus, we got to see the Navy SEAL candidates get smoked on the beach during BUDS. It was a bit pricey, as expected, but 100% worth it.

This is a nice spot. It is a very old building but the rooms are clean. It has a huge court yard. I really enjoyed the breakfast buffet. And lots of pokemon go with three stops and a gym at the hotel. Also many near by

$150 for three burgers and fries. They were served from a food truck. Tables and chairs were not cleaned or maintained. There was dried ketchup and food all over the tables and chairs. Completely unsanitary. Disgusting. No excuse for this when they are charging what they are charging.

Not sure what to think about the place. I mean, l know it's supposed to be old but it seemed somehow rusty: old furniture, very old doors, some of them dirty, old windows almost unable to open. Other than that all was good.

Hotel Del is an amazing destination. Great views, excellent service fantastic food. The only things that could be improved in my opinion is parking validation, with the high cost of food and drink (worth it) I'd like to see parking with validation be free of charge. They currently charger a reasonable rate $5 per 3 hours with validation (spend $100+) and a without validation parking is ~$50. Under the new management there are some noticable changes that are less then spectacular, but still an amazing destination.

Felt weird being from the other side of the bridge... might have been real might have been imaginary, lots of rich folks. Evey room is different, the elevator was super oldschool. I paid 32$ for a chocolate chip cookie, a brownie and 2 starbucks drinks in the bakery, i'm pretty sure i was shorted a gold bar. Felt like evertything was overpriced in the stores on the bottom floor. Saw a hoodie for like 98$. Overall the experience was pretty good, the building itself was very authentic. The hotel staff was nice. Had an issue with parking, but the parking staff handled it and gave me free parking, The rooms were very old, and i enjoyed my trip back in time while in the old room, with the exception of the water not getting hot fast enough. Decorations made for nice photos.

Quirky old building with history going back to 1888, recently remodeled but not everywhere I would have liked ( the beds and carpet in the rooms) great beach access. If you have the $ for $40 10" pizza as an example as everything is wildly expensive, this place is something that you should at least check out.

Visited Hotel del Coronado over Thanksgiving weekend. It's truly a historical site with amazing amenities. They have an outdoor ice rink! Multiple restaurants with good food, gift shops, and even set up fire pits on the beach after dark! It's worth seeing if you're in the area. My only word of warning is that if you park on site without staying at the hotel, it will cost $30 unless you get your parking ticket validated by aowndiv

Historical luxurious hotel on beautiful white sand beach on pacific ocean is now managed by Hilton hotel chain. The interior decoration is the ambience of 60s or 7ps era. Although crowded with tourists and visitiors, its pool is exclusively secured only for hotel guests.on the terrace by the ocean, there is ice skate plaza in the sunny winter time.
