Tasty burgers, fair prices, but the service was partly rude.

Terrace was 75% empty and waited over 30 minutes for the 2 ordered coffee to be served. When I asked if I could pay immediately, the waiter said 'one moment' and did not return. At least 6 couples who also wanted something to drink on the terrace, but walked away because there was no service. Worthless service and organization!

Scammers !!! Booked a room in May. Accidentally made a double booking on booking.com I am still waiting for my money and the owner refused to respond to emails from booking.com

Nice right in the center. Tarras is fun! Service not too friendly and welcoming ... inside it is very old!

+ Good location, very nice staff. and - Small rooms, sometimes the smell of sewage. But for a trip to Holland this is a good option.

Very poor service. It took a long time before the food arrived, which came before the drink, which we never received. When paying, the service did not speak Dutch.

We recommend, very cost effective. Located right in the city center, most rooms overlook the beautiful St. Bavarian Church. There are several museums nearby. If you plan to visit the hotel on the weekend, it is necessary to be aware that it is located in a busy street full of restaurants, bars and hotels, so be prepared for noise.

Waiter does not recognize you when you sit outside. After 10 minutes I asked to get a coffee. Another 20 minutes later I asked again to get a coffee. Finally it took 30 minutes and another time of asking to get a coffee. Poor service, worse organization. Now I know why this place was empty and others left without service...

We have eaten at the Carillon. The table was dirty, but was cleaned upon request. The food for the day was not bad, except the brr salad. After a change of service there was no service at all anymore. Walked in, answered rude and quickly settled and never returned. Terrible.

A neat room, but the shower only became hot water, the window was not caught and noisy at the start. Breakfast basic, but good. No hot meals in the morning. Staff friendly. The location is probably good, but I did not know much about the environment. Places to eat close by.

The Burger was not good!!!
What a shame that an animal died for that burger.

Small hotel with small, neat rooms and decent breakfast

The boy from the wait staff was friendly. When asked what kind of sauce is on the hamburger he could not answer .. The cook only speaks Chinese was his reaction. The hamburger turned out to be a frozen thingy and fries were very greasy. He could have indicated when I asked if the hamburger should be baked well done. The highlight was the sun that was shining.

Picked up a terrace here, drink and a snack. Unfortunately, we never received the ordered bitterballen. Still 4 stars, because the other snacks were good ....

Operation did not speak Dutch and soon after lunch how it had tasted. I think he saw the mood hanging because most of them were allowed back to the kitchen. Tough chicken satay and fatty fries. In addition, the hawking cook was not exactly something you got to pull.

After 50 minutes our order was not yet taken, when my friend went inside to order this was not possible, we just had to wait outside for the colleague. Multiple attempts to recruit staff, no response. Never been treated so badly by a restaurant. No service, no pace and very uninterested staff.

Well, I write reviews, and I certainly read others' too. And the reviews about Carillon are definitely not tender ... My tournedos on the other hand are! I didn't sleep here so can't judge the hotel section, but restaurant technically I was satisfied. The service was constantly present on the terrace, friendly and smiling. My tournedos was delicious and nicely seasoned. However, it would have been even better if it had been finished with some warm vegetables and steakhouse fries, or perhaps baked potatoes? The simple French fries and farmer's lettuce didn't do the piece of meat justice, but it wasn't dirty either. It has tasted me and the amount was not that bad, this is not an expensive thing in my eyes. Thank you team Carillon! I'm satisfied

Been alone for lunch. Did the staff not alert. Leave coffee afterwards, because nobody has to place an order

The food was delicious, but the service was not as expected.

A dated hotel. At check-in we had to ask ourselves what time the breakfast was and check-out time. At breakfast we also had to look for someone to ask for coffee. An extensive choice. The floors are crooked, so my girlfriend always had the feeling of falling out of bed. Great for a night's sleep, but not an attractive place to spend a lot of time.

Service is okay, not very special. Steep stairs upwards, not recommended if you have limited mobility. The room has a bed and a small bathroom. The view of the city is beautiful, very noisy until about 4 in the night, but you can expect that at a hotel in the middle of the city. However, I do not recommend this hotel in terms of price-quality comparison.

Last weekend I sat on the terrace. Smooth friendly service.

The room was very dirty. Mold in the bathroom, along the window frames, excrement in the toilet bowl of the previous hotel guest, grit under the heating and along the shower cabin. This was indicated with the question whether cleaning could still be done. We were offered a drink which was neat. After cleaning the grit was gone but the toilet was still not cleaned. . The person who receives the visitors does not have any information about times, breakfast etc and is not helpful. The location is perfect, but that's all said. I would say never go there!

The meat of the burger tasted very bad , i don't understand how you can serve some one this meal and take money for it !

Sitting on the terrace is really great here! Operation is really a point to work on. If you decide to eat here ... The spare ribs! The best in all of Haarlem.

It was clean and tidy but when i went to the restaraunt and i ordered a steak i was not asked how i like it so you got it how they wanted to cook it and it was to rare for my liking, and it was tastless. I bought a steak from Jumbo the night befor and that was a lot better.

Great location, right on the central square. Friendly welcome, clean room, comfortable bed and great prices.

Price/quality rate of the food is terrible. Burger meat tasted awful. Service is ok sometimes, but very heavily depends on the waiter/waitress that s helping you.

Very bad hotel. Don't fall for it. We already had a strange look when we checked in. "you want to sleep here?" was read. After a very brief explanation and the message 'pay immediately'. We had to work our way up two life-threatening staircases whose handrails had just been painted and so we could not use them. After some research we found our double bedroom to find out that the bed is 120 cm wide and sloping. When we wanted to take a shower, we discovered that the shower head must be held up by hand because it cannot be hung up. In the morning at breakfast, where you had the choice between a slice of casino white or brown, we just complained to the wait staff. The message was that she couldn't help it. When asked if she could pass on the shower problem, the answer was: come back at 11 am. So after lunch I just went back to arrange it so ... Arrived in the evening with the idea to take a nice shower, I find out that the shower is indeed hung up to my surprise. A small detail is that the height at which it is fixed is just high enough to wash my navel. The next morning when checking out there was no staff at all anymore. In short, you are in Haarlem and you want to pay a lot of money for a broom cupboard with a mattress on a moldy bathroom of 1 square meter where you cannot take a shower. And then completely ignored by the people you pay? Then you are in the right place!

The place looks great but the lodging is a bit cramped.

We waited almost 20 minutes for the food, the croquettes were not hot enough and were served on OLD BREAD. Despite this free advice, nothing has been done with this.

Our opinion:
If you are not suitable as a (new) owner to work in the hospitality industry, do not work in it either!

Damage:
1 tea, 1 apple juice, 1 chocolate milk + whipped cream, 1 sandwich and 2 rolls of Van Dobben croquettes: almost 30!

What a drama! Just had dinner with 4 people.
Main course with all of us without cutlery. Dessert menu was offered when main course was yet to come. Plate was already taken away while table companion was still eating. Several times someone passed by with a dish not ordered by us.
Coffee without a spoon. Up to 2x tea without a tea bag. Dessert without ice cream (was only huge slice of apple pie).
A drain from the glass sink was clogged. The water ran through the whole thing. Just managed to save my new coat hanging over the chair. Were in the middle of a mopping session. But nobody had the idea to draw my attention to my coat that was almost hanging in the drape .......
Complained that I was not satisfied and listed the points to the waitress and said I was assuming something would be done about the price -> discount. That I have been there many times and was actually always satisfied. But that this didn't seem like anything.
Did NOT receive a discount and not even an excuse or drink on the house.
Obviously no tipping. AND THEY ARE A CUSTOMER ARMER.
There is still a lot to learn and improve!

The service on the terrace could not talk to us because of the language barrier, otherwise the service was very poor. I ordered a radler, but the waiter didn't know if they had any chilled drinks. Also with my carpaccio sandwich I got the most colorless and tasteless form of carpaccio meat I have ever seen / tasted. During his break at church, one of the employees was smoking opposite a joint ... What a tent this was.

Good food friendly service only sometimes they no longer have an overview

Grand location, although not the best service.
This terrace is right next to Studio. Which is usually full and appears to be the reason why more people come here.

I have noticed the staff seems inexperienced (leaving the bar unattended, not keeping an eye on customers waiting to put in orders) and judging from the other reviews online, it's been so for a couple of years.
The fact that this registers as a hotel explains a lot and the food is a bit overpriced if ya ask me.
Having said that,

Okay for 1-2 nights, but definitely no longer. Very noisy and very small especially the bathroom. Floor in the room was crooked which almost made you roll out of bed at night.
Frames trips and are due for replacement.

Goes well, kindness is still in its infancy. Just like the snack nachos ... they are really with cheese and guacamole.

You come in with four, you wait neatly (as it was busy). Clearly doing his best not to see us. Not even a "Good afternoon" could be taken off. Reversed, message was clear. We are not coming here anymore.

Abandoned current stay 2 days early. Entire hotel smells of feces. Was uncomfortable to sleep with the smell lingering all day and all night.
Each individual unit is incredibly small and if you are wearing a backpack you will not fit up the stairwell or be able to turn around in your room. TV had power but no channels. Wifi disconnects every 60 seconds and prohibits use.

Check-in was awkward and had to wait while the waitress of the bar helped customers throughout my lengthy check in process at 3pm. She was nice, but they are clearly not staffed to be bother a bar/restaurant and a hotel.

The building has charm, it has potential, only if the owner would pay any attention to this very worn property. This owner should review his hotel and make drastic changes. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, even a budget Traveller.

Very unsatisfied with the service. Breakfast was not ready at the agreed time, bill had to be paid immediately although otherwise agreed by telephone and while I had clearly indicated that I wanted a room on the ground floor due to my client's handicap, this was unknown at the reception upon arrival.

I have had telephone contact with the owner about this. She promised to call me back. She did not do this.

In my eyes, in danger of collapsing. The ground is crooked and crooked. The windows are moldy. The furniture is broken, dirty. Renting a room here is gross. There was even feces in the toilet. We left and paid twice.

Even if the manu says that the kitchen opens at 11:00 we had to wait until 12:30 to order. The waitress had no clue what is on the menu and seemed overall very confused. I was happy to see that it is one of the few places in Haarlem that has Old Fashioned but to my surprise I received Bourbon with lemon juice...

A double room with a large bed was booked for the wedding day.
However, we received a very dirty single room with 2 separate beds.
After a clear complaint we were offered a new room which smelled very unpleasant and was extremely dirty.
Unfortunately, the great location does not make up for the absolutely unprofessional behavior of the employees.

A wonderful place, qualified and kind staff make you feel like one of the family. The chef DAI for me the best makes delicious dishes. Thank you all, keep up the good work

It is certainly a great hotel to spend the night after a night out. In the middle of the entertainment area. Unfortunately very pricey to what you get. Poor and small rooms where you can suffer a lot from outside. Furthermore, very friendly staff. It is perfect if it fits your plan

Bed was very comfy hotel was easy to access all hours and the WiFi was usable but not for streaming vedio.

Carpaccio was bland and the service really bad. We got up and paid for immediately after the main course. The waiter was rude, grumpy, did not speak Dutch and did not have the decency to ask if it had tasted. Then when paying indicated, we were told. Mwah very empty tent. And yet not have full attention for the guests. Staff were eating fruit in the middle of the case, making the whole thing smelled of citrus.
