Located on Amsterdam and 103st, this in the upper west side of Manhattan. If you're on a budget but still want to be in Manhattan then this is a good option. The neighborhood is okay but has been improving recently. The fact facilities are clean and the staff friendly. They provide complimentary luggage storage if you arrive before your check in time and $5 storage after your check out time if you want to use it. Each bed is assigned a locker inside the room. Also each bed has its own light and outlets. Downside are that the beds are a little small and may be a problem if you're taller than 6ft.

You are planning to explore NYC on your own? This is your place to stay! I promis you will have a city exploration crew after just one day or night in this hostel! They offer a lot of activites and during summer there is nothing better than the barbecue parties in the hostels backyard garden!

Very nice staff, I had a great stay! The bathrooms are mostly clean and the rooms are good!
As it was a bit warm I would have loved air condition in the rooms or only the possibility to open the windows just a bit.

I must say first of all that the hostel is really very good! The best opinions left me of this place. Hyper large hostel, includes breakfast (basic, but not important). The area where it is located, although it is quite "up" in the city, is one block from metro line 1, with which you can get everywhere. There is no problem to move around the city and the suburbs. Everything was always very clean in general, the hallways of the rooms, the bathrooms, etc. Per floor they have like 3 bathrooms for men and 3 for women. The common areas are a bit small, but since they have a patio, it can be used very well. We were in the middle of winter and it was very crude to go out to the patio haha. In the basement they have TWO KITCHENS very equipped with microwave, kitchen, laundry room, electric kettle, refrigerators and freezers. They have cutting boards for food, plates, glasses, cups. OF EVERYTHING! You can even obviously buy food outside and bring it to the hostel. There is only one thing that I would highlight, in the hostel they do not allow drinking alcohol, it is not something crucial to choose a lodging but there is something that did happen to us, and that seems to me to have more to do with respect for everyone than the fact itself : one night we bought a pizza and a can of beer. After a while, someone from the place came to tell me that it was not possible, I told him I didn't know and threw it away (luckily I had already taken it). So far so good, BUT it happened to us that EVERY night there were people drinking alcohol in the common areas and nobody said anything. Even a person who did not respect anyone came to have a bottle of champagne in the middle of the common room, in full view of everyone. And that same person played very loud music from his cell phone and we all had to put up with that. This I think has a lot to do with respect for all the passengers of the place. Either they allow themselves to drink alcohol or they do not allow anyone, much less bother with the whim of a passenger with their music. For this reason I do not put 5 stars.

Very good hostel. Everything is there to spend a pleasant stay. Perfect for friends and solo travelers. Close to the metro. 10 minutes from Central Park.

I spent a week at this inn. 2 metro lines (1 and C) nearby. The reception is friendly and efficient. The bedding is clean and comfortable, the showers also. Beautiful modern and clean kitchen. BBQ evening on the nice terrace. A lot of shops and restaurants on the street. A good value for money to be in Manhattan!

I was in this hostel for a couple of nights and I totally recommend it. While it is not close to all the attractions, it is very easy to get around with the subway. The hostel is ideal for young people or those who travel alone.

The rooms are so clean and breakfast so delicious. The are alwats events going on in the lobby.

The dormitory private locker also had a USB charging port, which made it even better. It is clean and kind, and it seems to be good when I was 60 years old.

Good set up, lots of space. Nice and affordable place to stay in NY.

Rooms were nice, stayed in a 6 bed dorm. Location really convenient to subway and central park. Communal areas are pretty and we'll kept.

Had my booking but was not allowed to check in and they had given my bed to someone else. Mixed dorm is not a mixed dorm like everywhere else in the world, it s only for people traveling in pairs. Very very disappointed.

Left me a Friday night without any solution for accommodation, only a we can give you a refund, sorry .

Big & Clean place, comfortable bed, large kitchen, near subway, near grocery store. The system is well managed. Luggage storage service 5$ per day is cheaper than other places.

Air conditioning was down over night and I was baking hot

Favorite hostel in New York! Clean room, friendly staff and it's location is just off the hook! 103rd & Amsterdam Ave. the (1) Subway is just one block away. if you plan it right, it takes you within 10 minutes straight to Times Square!

I highly recommend this to stay in New York if you travel alone. I was satisfied with it.

Good hostel, nothing too fancy. Showers and toilets were clean, plus it had lockers for suitcases. Bring your own padlock for the lockers instead of paying $3.27 at the front desk for one.

Reception very good and helpful, however the entrance card loses the "memoria" if you take it to the bath: / The factor that defined me to stay here was to have some pre-programmed scripts on the site itself and the majority free

Everything is super nice including the service. All facilities work and the beds have their own outlets and USB power supply. I've only met friendly guests as well. There is a comedy show Sundays and Tuesdays which was pretty funny. About half were funny.

Fun hostel by central park. Great place to stay when visiting NYC!

I came to this hostel with my sister and our friend for my first time in New York City. The hostel itself is very large with lots to do inside. There's a little cafe and a movie room, with many areas to hangout in. The room was a little small, especially with 8 people in it. Lockers were big though, enough to put all my belongings in it. Bathrooms are large, clean, and renovated. I would come back to the hostel if I ever went to NYC again!

It is a little bit more expensive but for what i have seen on other hostels in nyc, Hi is a good choice, it is clean has breakfast included, nice showers, you have your own plug and light by the bed, decent size lockers and there a subway stop near by

One of the nicest and cleanest hostels I know. The attention is good, the rooms are fine, the bathrooms excellent, the breakfast is very good but the only thing that is seriously bad is the elevator that is very slow and old. The rest, everything perfect. I would go back without hesitation

I was saved because I was able to stay cheaply in Manhattan, which has a high accommodation cost.
Even after you check out, you can rent a locker at the front desk.
It is clean and the burgers in the cafe area are delicious.

The staff doesn't tell the truth. First you are to stupid to turn on hot water. After eight hours still no warm water. They said: go on another floor there is hot water. The hostel hasn't hot water on any floor! To say sorry we have problems, they lie to guests. The other guests were loud in the night and really early. Only go there if you have a deep sleep. The kitchen, cafe and lounge is nice. Also the bathrooms. But for keeping guests with no respect and lying staff, NO GO!

The kitchen is clean and there are cooking utensils.

Very good hostel! Of the largest, neat and well organized I've seen.
If it is true that the price is somewhat high, but we must bear in mind that it is in NYC and that it has the presentation of a very decent hotel.
The location is beautiful, something away from the bustle of Manhattan but just one block from the subway line so in less than 20 minutes you are in Time Square if you wish

Rooms are tidy but very poor restrooms. Doesn't see any proper cleaning. Front office staffs are little rude in their behavior. Locality is a good plus point and you hardly stay at the hostel. And it fits the budget

This is the 4th time I've stayed there and I would definitely go back a thousand times. The friendliness of its staff and the availability to assist you is unique. Subway 103 St is one block away and close to everything so you can eat New York in one trip.

Visited a friend who is staying the weekend at this hostel. Very clean and welcoming. The backyard patio is extremely nice and the bar is fun

Hostel located in Manhattan on 103 and Amsterdam. Good location. In a nice and safe neighborhood. Very close to the red # 1 subway. Take downtown - Union Sector, Broadway, etc.
The lodge is really level. It has a diverse cafeteria, a place to store stuff if needed, washing machines, a kitchen to cook, anytime a volunteer comes to guide and recommend where to travel and how to get there. Every day, guided tours go to different places for $ 10. In short for those who have a pressing budget ... highly recommended.
Suitable for all ages. Just keep in mind that these are shared rooms and a shared shower

Well frequented hostel, alternative environment as usually found in Hostel. Very nice lobby and good service. Very big and I found it comfortable. There is the option of storage to store your bags (5 dollars), in case you have already checked out and want to go for a walk. Right next to Central Park. I recommend!

Extremely courteous and helpful staff. Roommates were courteous and nice as well. Facility was fully accommodated clean and inviting.

It gets too hot in the rooms. Woke up in middle of the night drenched in sweat. But from that night nice place to stay.

Stayed there for 5 nightd. The hostel itself is clean. Staff is friendly and it's situated right next to a subwaystation. So far, it's good. However, there is no free breakfast offered and the airconditioning in the dorm was very loud. So loud, most of my fellow roommates couldn't sleep either. On top of that; the airco wasn't cooling down the room so it became very, very hot in the dorm. I wouldn't go there anymore. The core part of a hostel is, that you can have a good bed and some rest. To me, that was very hard.

This is about as good as a hostel gets. Clean, nice even, fantastic staff and great activities in a good location on the Upper West Side. My only issue was a slightly to soft mattress. As a single traveler you won't get a better deal in NYC - I paid $57 for a bunk in a 4 bed "luxury" dorm.

The 4 person room I had in advance was unfortunately overbooked upon my arrival. I was placed in a 10 person room instead that was only $4 cheaper. Eventually I was comped the room. Bathroom was clean. The locker was big enough for my backpack and clothes. Close to the subway.

Good hostel even if it's a bit of a factory. There are many going and many rooms. The place is well located not far from the metro. I did not capture the wifi from my room.

Hostel was comfy, every thing was clean, but staff would come into the room being incredibly loud and disruptive, this made it very difficult to catch up on sleep if need be

Great location, closer to the subway and the staff is great!

Cheap accommodation, but clean conditions, would recommend staying here if on a tight budget or travelling in a group.

The location is very good, close to 103 street subway, the surrounding environment is safe, there are few tourists, no breakfast, but the first floor has a meal, and a rest area. The environment is clean, but only a thin blanket is attached, and it is a bit cold in winter.

I have stayed at this hostel several times over the past few years and I continue to want to stay here. The location is brilliant, being so close to the metro station and within walking distance to Central Park. The hostel rooms are clean albeit need to have a little more air circulation when being cleaned. Basic beds, lockers in each room, personal lights next to each bed.

The hostel also has a great cafe to grab a coffee and a bagel at before you start your day of exploring. They also provide a lot of events and entertainment. I have been at the hostel over Halloween, where they threw a party and for Thanksgiving as well where they put on a huge thanksgiving feast for anyone at the hostel wanting to attend.
