We spent $110 to stay one night and $50 for room service. However, they require me to pay for Internet? I've never stayed at a hotel that requires me to pay for internet. For that reason alone we give it 1 star. It's 2016, they need to stop being greedy and get with the program. We will definitely not be staying here again.

If you can, avoid this hotel. DO NOT ever STAY in this hotl!!! The front desk of this hotel is MALFUNCTIONED and they will never apologize about what they did wrong. It s like their motto is nothing is possible . This front desk can handle only a simple and single day reservation. When the reservation tends to complex, they screw up from the first to the end and have no clue how to fix. We made two different reservation for two different people but, somehow, this front desk put these two people in the same room and charged fee for staying with one person s credit card. The staying was over but we still have to fix this this problem... This front desk will make your reservation miserable definitely.

Showe water starts out yellow every day. During my 2 week stay I experienced 3 fire alarms. The first was just after midnight a few days into my stay. The alarm wakes you up very loudly saying "may 8 have your attention please (twice) There has been an emergency reported in the building, please stand by." So do I evacuate or stay in my room? Is there a fire or active shooter? Good luck because they never actually follow up on theat alarm
Another day we had an alarm in the afternoon, and they did give an all clear about 2 minutes later. Thursday night I was awoke the the alarm at 2:15am. The alarm ran for about 7 minutes. I called the front desk after, but no answer. I decided to go down and see what was up. 1 fire truck, then a 2nd. Around 100 people in the lobby or outside. The fire dept gave the all clear after 3am. Hotel staff never made any other announcement or all clear.... Well, they did decide to make an announcement after 3:40am saying they would be working on the alarm system and to just ignore any alarms that go off. Saturday, we had no power from around 5:30pm to 1:30 am. The laundry room is comparable to a row on an airplane, un that if you choose the 3rd machine, you are trapped until the other 2 people are done. The place has plenty of space, there is no excuse for a laundry room so small. Ps, no free breakfasts and the lobby has fruit infused water every morning and a glass jar of fruit-minus water the rest of the day because nobody seems to refill it through the day.

I stay here regularly and always pleased. Just wanted to give a shout out to Karen at the front desk. In December I left a nice water bottle in my room. It s now June. Karen kept my water bottle on her desk for me these 7 months waiting for me to come back and claim it! Thank you so much for the amazing service!

On the positive side, the staff of this hotel was very friendly, and the restaurant had a very good Cobb Salad.

On the negative side, the airport shuttle took a long time to arrive at the Arrivals area (even though the hotel is within a ~2 mile drive of airport). And also, the renovations being in process in the registration area, made the arrival and walk to the check in area very challenging. Finally, the bathrooms still having tubs, and not the new showers, was a disappointment.

Hard to say if our room selection was due to using points but it was very small and overlooking the parking lot (versus the lake). As a Platinum Elite, thought we might still get a better room selection. While they have switched to bamboo flooring, it was not very well swept. They are renovating their front drive area so you had to use a small side entrance was a bit chaotic and confusing. The check in staff seemed impatient and not overly friendly. Just need to pick up their service ice level especially when your guests are inconvenienced with remodeling.

Overall not too bad. The room (king size bed) was a little small but it worked overall. The tv system they have was terrible and plugging a computer into their system was shoddy and wouldn't let you display just the pc input... But forced a side by side tv and PC input on the screen simultaneously. The room service was great (as we're the servers), the food was mostly good. The rueben was good, pizza was sub par, the rib eye felt underseasoned and a tad over priced and the crispy brussel sprouts were cooked right but had a sauce/glanced poured heavily all over which killed the crispness. The front desk employees were very nice and helpful. They took care of my problem where the refrigerator was in plugged and spoiled my food inside by replacing my meal. All in all I was actually happy despite what looks like a bunch of complaints. Give this place a shot!

They are currently under construction and it was difficult to park, enter and find my area to be in for my meeting. I was at the location three days prior to this review and the response via Marriott.

I've been stay here for 2 decades. The new renovations are awful. Every room I stay in the glass shower leaks and about 2 inches of water accumulates on the floor. If you call for towels to mop up the mess you can expect to call 3 times at More

No free internet or breakfast really hinders the rating of an otherwise nice hotel. Large TV, clean room, bed was comfortable. Accommodations for shuttle service were helpful and prompt. Very close to the airport. Only stayed one night, didn't use many of the amenities.

Awesome hotel! Its not only close to the airport but they actually know how to cater to their travelling clients. Well appointed rooms with beautiful decor. Has a great club lounge for those with elite status.

Comfy Bed, food, convenient to airport and nice gym. Nice location with park setting and trail around lake. Word of caution for the showers with a sharp metal that sits at 5 9 which is terrible for a 6 tall person. Hit my head 3x and split it once. It is camouflaged with chrome and easy to forget about it. Poor design and should be torn out of every bathroom. Other than that nice property.

Decent hotel for the price and location. It's definitely in need of updates, but it appears renovations are scheduled for 2016 or early 2017. Parking was free, but WiFi was $9.95 a day (There was no in-room, wired Internet connection.) Breakfast seemed pricey, so we ate elsewhere. The Business Center was very basic (a few PCs and a printer), but my wife said the Fitness Center was nice.

We enjoyed the room. We managed to get one facing the water, and the view was beautiful. Clean beds. Clean bathroom. I was disappointed that I couldn t purchase regular milk for my toddler (all they offered was Muscle Milk) in the market area, and when I attempted to ask, I wasn t helped. And they don t offer free continental breakfasts like most hotels I ve been to do. Would I stay again? Probably.

Would have given a 5 but the shift rotation on the TSA staff meant we were waiting around for half an hour instead of easily going through security, and the lines backed up to 30+ people both directions.

At first site, it s a very nice hotel. Unfortunately, the rooms are a different story. It was cold outside, so they put the entire building on heat so the temp in our room wouldn t go below 77. Also, bathroom is very small. For the amount we paid, we at least expected to be able to control the temp in the room! Plus you have to pay for WiFi if you re not a member.

In an effort to be efficient they have some sort of system where the outside temperature determines whether the room has air condition available. As I write this review my room temperature keeps increasing but I have no way to cool it. Wouldn t be much of an issue if there were windows to open but as this is a high rise they are not openable for safety. So if you run hot, as I do, this is definitely a poor choice.

The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms have been recently upgraded but there is not much sound barrier between rooms. I could hear housekeeping cleaning the room next to me.

Edit: the hotel did offer to move me to a different tower that apparently has thermostat controls. While I appreciate it I ve already unpacked and don t want to deal with packing up and moving rooms for a one night stay. It also doesn t change the fact that this system for controlling tempetures will impact my decision to stay here.

For a basic room it was okay. The room was clean. The bathroom door had seen better days. The Wi-Fi was awful. Couldn't use most of my apps on my phone using the Wi-Fi. Staff was mostly pleasant but I got a sense that they didn't think we belong in that nice of a hotel. Food in the restaurant is expectingly pricey, and there are no food vending machines anywhere in the hotel. Just a small little "store" by the front desk where you can purchase snacks. A single bag of popcorn for $3, for example. The overnight staff does not speak clear English. They are hard to understand and they didn't understand us easily either. There was an event going on during our stay and there were drunks hanging out in the lobby, bar/restaurant area, the entrance, and up and down hallways. We went up to our room once to find a plate (that had been left of the floor by housekeeping, as well as a sponge) shattered on the floor, and a condom put on the door handle of the room across from us. Overall I give it an average rating. I have definitely stayed in better hotels than this, but I have stayed in worse as well.

Dirty. They don't clean. Had to pretty much clean my own room after several requests to change rooms due to uncleanliness. Domeone from our group found dirt in the bed the first night there. I would not reccomend this hotel if you have options. At breakfast buffet, waffle mix was saved from day before and had separated by the morning after when it was promptly put next to the waffle maker. Just ugh.

Disappointing experience. Only bright spots were the shuttle drivers and breakfast waitress. I'm gold with Marriott and when checking in I got an argument about lounge access -- was told it would be another$30, even though it was supposed to be included in my room rate. I had to find my confirmation in my suitcase and go back down to prove access was included. Was then informed that the lounge is basically closed for the weekend, so soft drinks only. Breakfast was included, which was good. The room itself seemed small, and the ceramic floors transmitted a lot of sound from above. The bathroom had a barn style door which provided no sound privacy. It took several minutes to get hot water. Hope this isn't the future for Marriott...

I travel about one a month for work. I typically stay at Hilton properties, however, this hotel was well rated and located in close proximity to the Kansas City International Airport. The hotel is clean, well appointed, and maintains a restaurant with decent food and a nice bar.

The one problem was that the Marriott staff gave me key cards to a room that ALREADY HAD SOMEONE IN IT. I'm not sure who was more shocked, the pants-less man in the room, or myself.

The Marriott staff quickly solved the problem by guessing a room number that didn't have someone in it. This time I knocked first. Lesson learned, stick with Hilton Hotels.

*Edit - The Marriott kindly refunded my hotel stay and added bonus point to my account for my inconvenience. I greatly appreciated this.

**Edit - I received a call late last week from the Kansas City Airport Marriott stating that had accidentally charged someone else for my stay and needed my card number so their could charge my account, so please disregard the edit above. Apparently there was no intent to refund my visit, just another mistake by their organization.

This is one of my favorite hotels when I travel to the area. Recent renovations are well done and the view from the restaurant is quite lovely in the evening. The concierge club is spacious with nice selections. The staff is top notch and the shuttle runs on time. By the way, the shuttle will also pick you up from the rental car center if you give the front desk a call when you are ready.

I ve been staying at this MCI MARRIOTT for years. I must command the staff members for their over and beyond customer service they deliver on a daily basis. I am continually amazed by the front desk peeps as well as the shuttle drivers and the dining experience the hotel staff strives to make the best. TODAY i would like to mention a few names who contributed to my lately most comfortable and personal great hotel experience: Leyla and Ali (at the front desk) and also Anna and Mary-Kate (Fresh-Bites delivery). Also Justin (MOD). They do care. Whether you are tired and just want to go to your room to relax OR wish to have a nice dinner at the restaurant.. you will be taking care of.!! The snow has never stopped the MCI MARRIOTT folks for delivering a wonderful caring for its guests. In my most humble shoutout: THANK YOU for all you do.. everyday.

Newly remodeled (very nicely finished) rooms, but apparently very hap-hazardly done. All rooms should have microwave, however apparently they forgot to install the cabinet for it in my room. They provided me one quickly. Remodeling is still ongoing in various areas of the hotel. I don't have a shower door (I think I am in a h/C accessible room), but my classmates that do, complain that they leak all over the floor.
I travel a fair amount and I can't figure out why any of the hotel chains apparently do not seem to get input from actual travelers. For instance this room has these little light switches all over the place. Trying to turn on or off all of the lights is hunt and seek contest. The desk here has no lamp, so I had to move a lamp down from the end of the counter area to work. Not so much in this room, but the chains are switching to LED lighting AND lowering the lumens. You might think they are saving enough on electricity that they could actually increase the lumens. I think I am going to start to traveling with some sort of camping light in order to have a bright enough room.

My fiance came out here for an event and asked me to come I told her I could not because of work. The plan was to fly down here surprise her with myself and the ring *which she didn't think was going to be ready for another few days*. So I told the amazing staff how I wanted to propose to her because I just couldn't wait anymore, and they were fantastic. The girls from the front desk, restaurant, management all were top notch. Everyone was so polite and great to work with because we had to change how and where I was going to ask her 3 times because her schedule kept changing while she thought I was texting her from Missouri. We appreciate all the work th at they did for us. At the end of the day the experience of where you stay at the people/staff factor that can truly impact your experience I believe is huge. The hotel is very nice, clean and the food is very good. I am going to get the names of the rest of the staff when we leave so we can write another review and name drop them so they get recognized for providing great service. Rachel Lemanski and Jessica helped make a experience we will never forget.

We normally stay at the Marriott on the Plaza and will definitely be going back to the Plaza Marriott. We stayed here overnight to be closer to where our daughter and granddaughter are living. We have been gold star concierge for years to say that we definitely where not treated as such. We entered our room 9 th floor the back of the toilet top was ascew lift the lid to use the toilet hadn't been cleaned or flushed with number 2 in it okay to tired to even bother to complain about that I take our granddaughter down to get a snack while my husband is on a call pick out our chips front desk rings them up charges them to the room I ask where I could get some coffee she sends me to the bar to pay 6 dollars for a coffee again I'm thinking why is there no concierge lounge where we normally get all this included which she should have known looking up our name and room number again to tired to even worry about it my husband comes back to the room and ask how the concierge lounge was said I have no idea where is it. Directly across from the front desk totally ridiculous and management definitely is not training there staff well or they don't care.
