*****UPDATE: I am increasing my review to 4 stars because I was contacted by hotel management and they did what a respectable hotel does, they apologized. We live in a world where the individual feels belittled by large companies, and that s how I initially felt, but a personal phone call (along with a comped night) with an apology was given. They also assured me that they would speak to the front desk manager who begat this entire issue. It did feel good to know they cared about my personal issue to make it right*****

*****This is not a hotel for kids. The front office manager Amanda told me she does not have kids and she clearly didn t care about my little child.

I ll keep it short...or try: The front office manager Amanda Hellinghausen has no idea was courtesy is. I was shocked and appalled at how poor the service was at this Hilton. I have stayed at many Hilton Garden Inns that had better service.

My wife called a day ahead of our stay to ensure they would have a crib for our 13-month old. The customer service assured us they would have one. We showed up the next day, not more than 2 hours into check-in time. The front desk said they would get us a crib.

We went out to dinner and still no crib, and also no communication from the Hilton. My wife was the first to go to the desk and ask for a crib. They said they didn t have one but would look.

I then went to talk to customer service, i. e. Amanda Hellinghausen, and she basically said too bad. We don t have a crib and that s that. I then explained the dangers of bed sleeping with 13- month olds and how they can fall out of the bed. I asked Amanda if she felt comfortable with my daughter sleeping inappropriately without a crib and she did not care one way or another. I explained to her that if my baby falls the Hilton could incur a lawsuit. She didn t care. I told her I was not happy and would be back in 30 minutes.

20 minutes later I returned with my 13-month in hand to Amanda badmouthing my family to her hotel employees. I caught her saying to the gentleman, don t worry I ll tell you the story later. I can only assume she was going to have a laugh at my family s expense. Bottom line is they found a crib, but only after vehemently explaining that this was dangerous and not acceptable.

This is not a hotel for kids. The front office manager Amanda told me she does not have kids and she clearly didn t care about my little child.

Don t come here if you need any special requests or accommodations.

A decent hotel, but when you pay premium, you should get premium. Now with $2000+ per week you get a decent sized room and everything costs extra: gym, breakfast.. not even the wifi is free.

Also, the noise isolation is bad. Even on the 10th floor the street noise was very loud, especially the trains. Even though I'm quite a heavy sleeper, I woke up many times per night. The building is old in US scale, but the noise level could - and should - have been handled for that price.

The lobby however was fabulous and worth seeing.

Overall, my stay at Hilton Chicago has been uneventful. It's pretty neat to have 2 bathrooms for a double bed room. They also honored the feather free request. The beds were comfortable. The only negatives were that there was only 1 hair dryer to be shared by 2 people despite having 2 bathrooms. Also, one of the bathroom did not have full set of towels. Those are minor things that did not impact my stay.

We had high expectations for this hotel. The hotel looked nice from the outside with restaurants and pools. However, I felt really let down when I came in the room I was booked for. The fact that I was booked for a double bedroom instead of a single kingsized without any notice was a dissapointment, but what really made me feel bad was that the room was dirty, with all the tables and chairs covered in dust. Another downer was that there was no refrigerator, and that an extra 40 dollars was needed for the staff to bring the refrigerator to the room (who charges 40 dollars for a refrigerator for a day stay?). The only thing good about this hotel like I mentioned before is the dining and other amentities that are seen from the outside, but the hotel should seriously take more care of polishing the rooms.

Very nice hotel, but I did not have the greatest time. They hosted the WEFTEC Ops Challenge awards dinner. The choice of food was a little strange and the quality was decent at best. Bottled domestic beers were being offered at the outrageous price of $9 a bottle!

I was a guest at the Hilton in December 2011. Unfortunately, we encountered some concerning circumstances. However, Damien McArdle & the Hilton were incredibly prompt & thorough in addressing the issues. Though no hotel staff were at fault for the concern, Damien took personal care to ensure the issue was addressed & even went above and beyond by offering us a voucher for another one night stay.

My husband and I were very pleased with the service of Damien & the Hilton, and pleasantly surprised by the offer to come stay again for free. We appreciate their hospitality & goodwill.

I absolutely loved this hotel. The staff were excellent especially Marcus, Chris and Candace. Those 3 went above and beyond to help us. The hotel was remarkably clean, beds amazing. The staff was very accommodating. I would highly recommend this hotel on S Michigan in Chicago. Perfect location. Within walking distance to all the hot spots. We enjoyed our stay.

The LED light from the smoke detector shines a 24 inch diameter light right on the pillow. It was like having a flash light shined in your eyes when you are trying to sleep. I informed the desk staff and they said that they had reports of this issue. They said that there were only a few rooms open but they could upgrade me for an additional $74.00 per night. I did not want to pay an additional $370 for my stay. I asked if I could put a piece of tape over the led and was told no. So I asked for two blankets. Which they delivered. Some where I remember seeing a card in the room about making it right.. Ha! $199 a night and I had to sleep on the floor.

Nice seemingly historic hotel but lots of room for improvement! First night in the hotel I was awoken by a chirping smoke alarm with an old battery needing replacement at 3:00 am. Second night my heat went out and I was told to give it 25 minutes for the room to warm up once I turned the thermostat up. The hotel staff did what they could to accommodate but the hotel is in need of upgrade for sure.

Very clean and well-kept. Staff is courteous and efficient. Nice amenities like large indoor pool and spa, as well as better than usual fitness facilities. Walking distance to many Chicago attractions, and even the lakefront. We've stayed several times and will return.

Rude staff and manager. Don't get stuff delivered here. They charge you an obscene amount of money to keep the deliveries (even when the parcels are for urgent medical purposes). Better still stay away from this place, find a better hotel.

Well situated on Michigan Avenue, this grand old hotel has matured well. It has hosted historic events and well known people for decades. Several renovations have kept it up to date. Our room was apparently once two separate smaller rooms which were combined together into a large one with two separate baths.

The hotel is nicely done and the atmosphere is sophisticated but I find it a bit unfriendly. Maybe because when you walk in, the vast space doesn't allow you to be greeted by hosts.

All in all it's clean and right in rhe heart of Mixhigan Avenue Chicago.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR ANYTHING. Unless you want to pay $65 just to park your vehicle. Its WORTH sleeping in the parking garage over the actual hotel for the prices they charge. Its outdated, dirty and had the LEAST helpful front desk staff I have EVER encountered. Would give one star if possible. I have extensive experience in managing the front desk of many hotels, my stay was 100% unacceptable for Hilton standards.

Loved this hotel! Comfortable, great pool & hot tub, and AMAZING SERVICE BY LORRAINE! We had the pleasure of having Lorraine clean our room each day. She was so friendly & such a joy to be around, and she went out of her way to help us. My sister was sick and Lorraine got us extra glasses, towels, etc. We simply LOVED her!

Doesn't live up to the expectations. It's in an area where there's not much to do on foot as far as restaurants and bars. There's not a lot to do in the hotel itself. The room I had was nothing special and the bathroom was small. Other than that....

The hotel was beautiful and the rooms were nice. I or it booked my room as a king room back in June for the conference I was attending but they gave me a room with 2 double beds instead. That was mildly disappointing, but not a deal breaker for me. The bathroom did have some mildew but the shower pressure was great.
