It's a beautiful old hotel that I visited for a conference of 2500 people. The meeting rooms were clean and ballrooms impressive. The venue could have been a bit better prepared for the number of people in terms of food and beverages.

I gave it two stars for the location. Nothing else. The bathroom in the room was ridiculous. The toilet didn't have a lid, which I had never seen before at a hotel. Also, the bathroom door had no lock. Staff were decent, but the check in was pretty slow. Go somewhere else, as there are other places that are better quality for a similar price.

Nice

Disappointed!

Disappointed!
Old hotel, somewhat remodeled. Front desk experience was extremely difficult. Even getting a new set of keys, took almost 1hour! (Hhonor gold) at 10 p.m.
Aside from location, which is good, the rate increases starting Thursday nights, are extreme. On top of the $300 + rate, 2 breakfast options for $21 or $27. Neither will come close to getting your money's worth. No free coffee offered anywhere. It's just a thing with me...no matter where I stay, or how much I pay! Parking rate also high. $70. Overall, location is good, room was so-so. My personal views was were fantastic of the lake,( but paid extra for higher floor, lake views) otherwise very Hampton Inn quality for $1150 .00 stay for 2 nights - breakfast and parking.

Superb. Perfect location. Sophisticated and classic. Beautifully decorated, spotless. One of the best options for staying near famous museums, theatres, restaurants and parks. Art is all around.

When checking in, we were asked if we wanted to "upgrade" to a room with a lake view for $50 more per night. We did. The view was beautiful but the room itself was nothing more than a glorified conference room. The king size bed was a Captains bed that folded up into the wall. Because of this, the bed was very low and VERY uncomfortable. It also had a metal frame around it that stuck out about 2 inches which I kept stubbing my toes on. The bathroom only had a shower stall with a seat that folded up against 1 wall, and it pretty much flooded each time we showered. I would not recommend this hotel to ANYONE. Actually, I wouldn't recommend any Hilton hotel to anyone.

The service is excellent. The beds were nice and soft, though a bit small. The rooms are full of distractions if you need quiet to sleep. You can hear sounds out in the hallway, there is a bright green light on the ceiling for the fire alarm system, the computer is playing music when you walk in, and even if you turn off the computer screen at night, it will turn on again in the morning. These are minor things, but it takes me a bit to get to sleep, so that annoyed me a bit.

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It is extremely nice, great views of the lake. Pool area is more for workouts so not well equipped for kids. Location is great and we would stay here again.

My families experience @ the Hilton Chicago has been AWESOME, We have not had anything negative to say about our stay. The staff has been very friendly and attentive even to the point of daily text messages, we will definitely come back without hesitation! Jerome Christmas Sr.

No vent in bathroom, no way to open windows for air and thermostat would not turn on just fan to circulate air in room for all the moisture from shower? BUT the view was gorgeous and the hotel staff was extremely helpful and courteous. This Hilton is a Chicago landmark and is super close to Buddy Guy's Legends club (as in across the street). Kitty O'Sheas which is in a corner of the hotel is a good pub too for bites.

Really nice hotel, and this review is likely a tad unfair, as I'm sure it would be at 5-Star review any other time. Unfortunately, our fridge wasn't working in the room and they had to bring a separate unit for our stay. In addition, the pool was closed unannounced on the day we were planning to relax, and we would have planned differently had we known. Other than that, the accommodations were fantastic, and the location is excellent.

Booked room was incorrectly entered. Request for feather free room could not be met. Slept with sheets only no pillow for 1 night. The next day they were able to accommodate my feather free room request. Check out was a disaster had up charged and put us in multiple rooms the expected us to cover their mistakes. Still in line..... uuuggg!

Nice.

Worst hotel stay ever! Was lied to & no one cared at all that we were suffering. Inappropriate & parking should be free for as much as spend. Laziness & incompetence in the staff is real. Never again.

I made reservations for this hotel months in advance for 4 nights. As a Hilton Honors Gold member, you have access to room upgrades. The day before my stay, I called ahead and asked for a Lake View room. I was in luck (or at least I thought)! They had one available! When I arrive around 5:30p.m., I go to the priority HHonors check-in line. I waited for over an hour to finally talk to someone about checking in. To make matters worse, I was informed that my room was not available...mind you it's about 7p.m. at this point. The front desk told me it would be available in 30 minutes and that they would text me when it is available. In the meantime, I decided to use the executive lounge. 30 minutes goes by, so I head back down to the front desk. I have to wait another 30 minutes to talk to someone again. At this point, they cannot tell me when my room will be available; and they aren't offering any other solutions other than to wait! I've been traveling for 12 hours at this point and want nothing more than to check-in to my room and relax! But I can't even do this. I ask to speak to the front-end manager, Dwight. It takes him awhile to get down, but he is "checking the room." When he comes down, I ask him what is going on. He tells me the bathroom isn't clean. Which, at this point, I don't care about. I ask if I can simply use the room while they clean it, which he says is not a possibility. While this is going on, there are at least 4 or more other guests that are running into similar issues. Excuses ranging from: "a missing lamp" to a "broken phone." One guest, who had been traveling from overaeas for over 20 hours, and was diabetic, absolutely needed a room to give herself her insulin. I finally just told him to just get me a room and then I could move into the better room the next day. I had to ask that the first night be comped-he did not offer after all that I had been through. I asked if I would realistically have the Lake View room the next day. He said of course-after all of the lies and mismanagement, I asked him to put this in paper. Which he did. The next day, I received a message at the room phone around 6 that night. We had agreed that he would call or text on my mobile phone. Additionally he called at 6 P.M.! I didn't get the message until after 8, and at that point, I was getting ready to head back out on the town! When it was all said and done, I had to call Dwight back and ask him to remove the second night. In all, very disappointed with this negative expensive at a Hilton. I've always had great guest service and enjoyed my stays at Hilton resorts. However, after my experience, and the experience of all of the other guests during this charade, I want this to serve as a warning to potential guests: Think twice before booking here.

We didn't stay here, but stopped in during the bus tour while waiting for the bus. This is a beautiful old hotel showing the grandeur of days past. I'm not up on architecture but it looks art deco or maybe art nouveau inspired. It is definitely worth a few minutes to go in and explore, especially if you are on the bus tour.

The hotel has a lot of rooms the have views of a brick wall. If those rooms were to be combined with other rooms, they may have something. I understand the building is pre-depression Era construction, but proper planning would make this a stunning place to stay.

I may be jaded because I paid an extra 50 bucks in advance for a 4pm checkout and they cut our keys off at 1pm leaving me to stand in a 20 minute line to be told security could let me back in--so I waited outside my room for security to let me in. This hotel is extremely big and very old. There is nothing luxurious about the suites--not even a robe, or slippers, or extra bath amenities. While I enjoy antiques and history (and the view of the park and lake), the price is a bit high in comparison to other more modern hotels in better areas than the Loop (not here on business). I'm in a suite and the rooms are older, sofa and bed very soft (from wear) and NOT luxurious. I'd rather be in a suite at the sofi, which is cheaper and waaaay nicer, but I didn't know. I assumed a Hilton would have better standards for upkeep. At 4pm on a Saturday, the check in line was very long (Saturday!!) even though I had pre-checked in online and gotten a digital key that did not work. Seems disorganized even though everyone we met was nice (staff). Housekeeping had no idea we had a late check out and began to press us around 1pm as to why we hadn't left yet. Better choices for the money. Never again...

This place is the best, also great staff. My girlfriend birthday was that day. They also gave us extra 4hrs.to checkout the next day, because I got sick . I really needed that ! I'm definitely going back. Also I recommend this place to anyone !!!

I was going to rate 5 until we checked out and found out we paid $124 for 2 nights of parking in the hotel garage. Yes, there is a sign with rates in the garage but I dont feel guests should have to pay nearly that much. Also, it says to have your ticket validated within the hotel, which is misleading because it's only for in and out of the garage whole you're there. Very frustrating but other than that, it's the perfect location with nice rooms and friendly staff, etc.

White guy with receding hair and glasses stopped us because we were minorities, asked us for our cardkeys consistently hoping for one of us to forget so he could do "his job" as security. Knowing he saw us exploring the hotel because it's huge, he basically almost got to a point where it becomes harassment, however the security guards were really nice. The hotel has a free pool so I gave it the extra star, and the gym costs $15 a day; with that you might as well buy a Planet Fitness Membership for $15 a month since there's one close by.

During stay:

During stay:
Upon arrival they uncharged us $30 to allow four people to stay in a $300 room with two queen beds. The "blankets" on these beds were no thicker than a sheet. When we got to our room in the afternoon there were no extra pillows or blanket to be found. We called the front desk to request an extra set of pillows and blankets and they claimed to be out of blankets and did not bring any until the following day. The next day they only brought two old heavily used fleece blankets with cigarette burns all over them.

After stay:
Absolute worst experience I have ever had with any establishment. I have stayed in motels with better service. The location makes this place cost a fortune but the front desk staff, customer service staff, financial service staff, and management were horrible, unhelpful, unresponsiveness, and had no clue what seems to be going on. We are still in contact with them (10+ calls that were not answered and 5+ e-mails that are not responded to until days later). Every time we called we would have to leave a voice message and they would call back several days later asking "What is the problem", making us explain the whole issue again, and this was how it has been going for about a month. They are unable to maintain record of credit card charges. We checked out using 2 purchase cards to split the bill and they ended up charging random amounts to the credit card they had on file for the reservation and the card used for incidentals. The front desk staff did not appear to update this information in the system. Basically we had $1,800 on 2 credit cards instead of the $1,450 split split into two purchase cards they A) agreed to do at the front desk as we swiped them and B) provided a receipt showing the correct charges ($725 on each purchase card). In current conversations they claim to have no record of this receipt or charges to these other two credit cards. Do not recommend staying here.

As a side note, they display all of these great amenities that are offered but fail to mention that Wifi is $20/day and each use of their gym as a hotel guest is more expensive then a two-month membership to planet fitness.

Very nice hotel, a classic in Chicago with all the Hilton service as expected. The rooms are not huge but comfortable with a beautiful bathroom, perfectly soundproof and full service (gym, real pool, indoor race track, etc.). In addition, if you have to go for work, a super nice lounge with a nice fireplace is present. Finally, it is 5 minutes walk from the Bean, 15 minutes from the city center, so rather well located;).

The room we great however I was surprised they didn't have any USB ports. The showers aren't great. one was hard to get I to because the toil6 is in front of it the other had a curtain that was too short and all the water flooded the bathroom. The desk and other staff where nice except the pafreking attendant. the location is great.

Hotel is nice, room is spacious, but my room was very drafty and the hotel has in-room "computers" for ordering room service and whatnot that take up half the desk. Slightly annoying when staying for business. But aside from some quibbles, a pleasant experience.

No breakfast and unloading can be a bit of a nightmare. It's an older hotel with a lot of charm, but inside the rooms you can definitely tell where the tried to renovate into the modern Hilton style. The combination just ends up looking drab and even a little dingy.

That being said, the best thing about the hotel is the location. The proximity to the Art Institute is, to me anyway, worth the extra cost alone, and the website isn't kidding when they say there is a ton of great food nearby.

Overall, the hotel itself is a middling experience, but the staff is very friendly and the rooms were all clean, so there is only so much complaining I can do.

It's lacking in a few places, but I would stay at the Hilton Chicago, again.

Staff was nice from check-in. Quite efficient. Elevators are plenty and staggered by floors, so reaching the 25th floor was quick. Rooms were quiet. We got a lake view double room. It was nice to wake up to the sun coming up over Lake Michigan. Supposedly booked two queen beds, but apparently Hilton queens are more full size. We ended up getting a roller for one of my two kids. Showers (both of them) had decent pressure, but the toilets started to not flush well in the morning when I assume water usage goes way up. For a large hotel it was fully booked when we stayed but you wouldn't have known it.

Downstairs was crazy busy. But we had a good time and enjoyed our stay. Lobby bar was a great place to have snacks and drinks. I even left some clothes in my closet and the staff set them aside for me to pick up the following weekend. If I had not been coming back to Chicago they had offered to ship them to me which I thought was nice. We will repeat again probably for next year's run.

If you love hotels with older architecture and history, then this is the place for you.

The decor is amazing from the lobby to the personal room (I rented a standard room and it was a very spacious room. Spacious enough to practice yoga in). I didn't eat there or check out any of the restaurants, so I'm unsure about those. It's located on the southern part of downtown and about a five minute walk from the Harrison Red Line station and a 10 minute walk from the Harold Washington Library station.

The bed was comfortable. The room included a tablet for personal use (although I couldn't figure out how to use it). They usually charge extra for the higher floors, but I was able to slip in through the cracks and land a room on the 21st floor with a nice partial view of Northern downtown Chicago.

The hotel puts you close to many buses and trains that will take you to many of the tourist destinations such as Navy Pier (CTA Bus 29), Wrigley Field (Red Line), Guaranteed Rate Field (Red Line), Soldier Field (CTA Bus 146 or walk along Balbo to the underground passageway to Soldier Field, a 20-30 minute walk), and many more.

My only suggestion is to use digital keys if you can. Those check in lines are busy all day long, especially in the summer.
