A mixed experience. We really wanted to love this hotel. It s sat in a great part of Chicago and close to all the busy parts most want to see.

Upon check in, we were informed that we only had a single bed for two, so that wasn t going to work and there was no view. So reluctantly we forked out the additional $200 (you just got the very real sense they will nickel and dime you for everything here) for an upgrade to the executive floor with a view. Now the view was nice, mainly of the river and partly of the city. We were also promised an $80 voucher to use across the hotel (this credit was not applied and we had to later go back and request it).

The room was fine, a little small, especially the bathroom. But it was clean and functional. It contained a fridge but no microwave.

The bed although initially comfortable, after an hours sleep proved less than perfect. After 4 nights at the hotel we were both exhausted and had back pains and longed for home in Texas. The pillows were just hopeless, and the mattress just too soft.

On a plus note, the hotel made a great effort with the Christmas tree.

It is a mature hotel and it shows. Very nice place, but it's missing a few amenities I was expecting. I was expecting lounging shoes and robes. Overall, the room was clean. It would be nice to have a housekeeping team to pay more attention to detail.

When we called to make reservations we asked for the concierge level and paid that price. Little did we know they stopped that a couple of years ago ( why didn t they say that at reservation). They gave us a room on the 22nd floor which was no difference than the 8th floor (except you have to use your key to access the elevator which was stupid since there is absolutely nothing special about this floor). The front desk was awful and very degrading. We have been coming to this hotel for 17 years and will be the last time. I see why they were on strike last week. They have zero customer service

Stayed for three nights with my family for a long weekend and was very happy with the accommodations at a great price. They had a deal for parking that let us come and go as much as we wanted which turned out to be a great option since we ended up driving to different areas of the city. The pool and work out facilities were great. Fitness center cost 15 dollars but felt that it was worth the price.

We stayed at the hotel from 2/1/13 to 2/4/13. This was our first trip to Chicago and wanted to stay at a nice hotel. The lobby was beautiful what we expected from the picture however the room was not. I was surprised to find papers, cap bottle from the other guest. So what we thought was the that cleaning staff did not have high standards. The bathroom shower had bits of mold but oh well I thought. When we went to bed that night and woke up with one one else kleenex I was mad. The staff there did not seem very concerned about it. We stripped that bed and asked for clean sheets. We left the room to come back six hours later and find that the room had not been touched. This prompted another visit to the front desk. I would think with a place like the Hilton they would make things right with us. We had a good time in Chicago and would love to go back when we do will have to find another hotel to stay at. I will not pay money for unfriendly staff and dirty sheets. That should be unexceptable to staff and guest.

After the fact I have looked back and read some of the other reviews and will be more careful next time.

Great hotel with a beautiful lobby. The rooms are a little small but sufficient for people who are here to explore Chicago, which feels right given the location. The service is great as well!

I stay here regularly. The building interior is beautiful and we'll kept. I want to get a room with a view next time, because it promises to be special because it's right on the river. Amenities are what you would expect from a premier property for a global hospitality company.

Not impressed with the accommodations nor the service. It started before we even checked in. 6 phone calls to the concierge for driving directions, because roads were shut down, and no answer. Our room was subpar and filthy. Half of the switches didn't work and an outlet was hanging out of the wall. What a fire hazard. There are nicer hotel for less else where.

3 stars. And I ve only been here for 2 hours. At this price I expect a lot more, like what I d expect at, say, ... mmm er ... a 5 star hotel. They brag that every US President has stayed here. I really don t see why. Yes looks to be a very nice part of town. But the rooms are really small (mine is). Very few people around the reception desk. Restaurants are sparse; only three in here and one of them is carry out only. And my bathtub drain is clogged.

Not very impressed. If something does change during the rest of my week here then I ll update this review, either higher or lower. Who knows???...

Update after two nights here: They fixed my clogged bathtub drain. And this hotel has a beautiful fitness center and pool. Pool has two dedicated lap lanes. Workout room has weights, both free and machines, as well as oodles of treadmill and such. Even has an indoor track!! How cool is that!!! And it s all free, except the parts that aren t. Pay extra to use all weights and machines. Ridiculous. So from 3 stars to 2. Not impressed at all.

Great hotel in the heart of where you want to be in Chicago. There are some lake views and aton of history here. The staff is awesome, the rooms are big and make you feel right at home.

I love the amenities in the hotel too, the bars, shop and bag check are all helpful for quick bites or getting out to see the city. For me this is the best area to stay when visiting for business and personal.

Probably the worst hotel stay ever. The front desk staff can't figure out what they are doing and the room service staff are way below average. Don't stay here - they do not care about their guests, even if you are a Hilton honors member. I should be able to post ZERO stars but can't so this is a ZERO star review.

Bathroom toilet paper was a slight disappointment. I'm in a Jr King Suite, and the TP is still the run of the mill generic one ply. You're a Hilton hotel. Have some respect for yourself and your guests. Other than that though, the stay was great! Beautiful Grand Piano Room! Charming elevators that occasionally give a little jump as they dump you out into your Shining-esque hallways! And the views were truly astounding from our room. I would probably stay again, but hopefully the Hotel Union's strike will have ended by then. So that all the people banging pans on he sidewalk will have gone home. They were the ultimate reason this only got a 4 star rating.

Ugh, totally dissapointed. The location was perfect. A large wedding was hosted there and affected everything. The parking garage took 15 minutes to enter off the street and parking was difficult to find. Check in took an hour because of a More

My friend and I walked in just to use the restroom for an emergency and security were incompetent and talked down to us and kicked us out. Extremely rude and if the hotel is now closed, they should lock their doors. Doesn't take a genius. Absolutely horrible and inconsiderate especially during times like these. Unbelievable!

The Hilton Chicago is a beautiful hotel with a rich and interesting history. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The gym is wonderful and has everything you need for a complete workout as well as a great view. The hotel is fantastic and a beautiful place to stay.

Got the double bed double bath.
Room is clean. Not bad but nothing special either.
Good location for first tine travellers to Chicago.
Good for families too with kids.
Plenty of great places nearby to eat as well.

Just stayed here with my husband. We had an expensive, small, dark, room, with a small bed, and itchy sheets. There was scant counter space. We did have a major issue: There was something really wrong with the air quality and hvac in our room. Assume it was mold. When we were in our room, we could hardly breathe. My husband actually lost his voice completely after the first night. I used albuterol ongoing. Oddly, the air quality in the rest of the hotel was fine. Also, the breakfast buffet had lots of fresh items, but the menu for lunch and dinner does not work if you have any food allergies or need gluten-free. Overall - a very poor hotel, and not a healthy place.

I met a friend at the bar for a drink. I live in the city, but on the Northside. This is a great place to stay. Its location is walking distance from the Grant Park, Field Museum, Aquarium, and Art Institute. Not too far away from Michigan Avenue shopping. In case of bad weather it is also close to public transit.

Check in service was EXCELLENT! Came for my birthday weekend and Casharra did an amazing work checking us in and providing an excellent customer service. However, now; 06:13am we ve been having the alarm going on all night because the battery was low. We have called front desk and they sent engineering to replace the batteries. They came over around 6am and after they left alarm went on again. We were not able to sleep THE ENTIRE NIGHT. I think they have to make sure everything is working before checking-in guest to the rooms. I m giving an extra star just because our check in process was excellent. Hotel needs MAINTENANCE

Great location! Stunning lobby, fast elevators (we were on the 21sr floor). Close to many things/attractions, especially Columbia College of Chicago & Yolks Restaurant! Beautiful room, but faced back end of building. Could look into other guests rooms. Abut noisy at night. Lots of sirens

I liked the hotel -- the room was small, and I paid extra for a view. The "view" barely enabled me to see Grant Park through the 2 small windows. The room and hotel were clean. The location was nice.

Historic hotel with beautiful views and lobby. Not sure why they want to nickel and dime the customer with exorbitant parking fees and gym fees. I have stayed in many hotels around the world and have never had to pay to use the gym. Unless that policy is revised, I will not stay here again.

Stayed for a few nights recently at the Hilton and absolutely loved the experience. Everyone was amazing, the hotel architecture was brilliant, and the food in the 720 lounge was delicious. The Grand Ball Room, where the fugitive was filmed, was absolutely insane. I would recommend this stay to anyone in the area.

Great place to stay. You are in the middle of everything or a short walk to a lot more. Awesome service. Stayed there for personal and business trips and all the times have been exceptional. Including the conference rooms and set ups. The restaurants are very good also.

Hotel is fantastic! The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The food in the restaurants is excellent. The location is perfect for the conference which I was attending (IMTS); it was even a hotel shuttle location! I would absolutely stay here again.

Very big hotel. When checking in and out you often have to bring a lot of time with you.
Elevators are sometimes in short supply for so many rooms and you wait longer.

We had a room on the executive floor. Room was large, but furnished quite dark. Bathroom was typically American with tub and shower curtain.

A tablet is available in the room with which you can do a lot, but I didn't use it.

Beds were comfortable and rooms pretty quiet. But it could also have been because mine was at the end of the corridor.

I found the fitness area great. 20 meter pool, a dream! The fitness room itself is also very large with lots of exercise bikes and rather untypical for hotels.

The location is great. Right in the middle, a lot is within walking distance.
