My husband and I stayed here for our wedding night...

My husband and I stayed here for our wedding night, and we had the most AMAZING experience thanks to Lorisa at the front desk! Her smile, friendliness, amazing accommodations, and phenomenal customer service put the Heathman over the TOP for the hotels that we have stayed in. Lorisa was not only able to make our room check in and easy (since we arrived around midnight and she made note of that), but she had the most amazing surprise in our room for us! Lorisa also made reservations for us to take the shuttle to the airport that next morning, and that went flawlessly as well. She was there to check us out, and Lee and I couldn't be more grateful for her service, and for this hotel. We can't wait to stay here again, and be able to experience her amazing customer service again!!!

What an amazing stay. The staff is on top of everything, friendly and there for anything you need. The sheets are the best around, had to buy new ones for home after sleeping on these. We where given a micro brew to drink while we waited when we showed up to check in. The door was held for us. Valet parking as included in the romance package I chose along with a bottle of champagne on ice and chocolates. It was very romantic and perfect for a surprise birthday gift for my wife. Well done Heathman hotel.

This hotel has a lot of character. It was perfectly located in downtown Portland. The front desk crew did a great job of executing hospitality as I booked on hotels. Com and the reservation initial was in a different room than what I thought I booked. Tayrn and staffed didn't have an issue moving is to the proper room. My guest and I were greeted with a local IPA and pilsner which added to the feel of the hotel. The restaurant headwaters also was quite delicious. I am defiantly booking this hotel next time I visit Portland. Great job of making my guest and I feel welcomed.

Nice hotel. Checked out this morning from an overnight vacation from Seattle. Easily accessible from Union Station or PDX Airport with the MAX Green or Red Lines, respectively. While the staff are very friendly and well-informed, the Heathman is a bit pricey and the walls between the rooms aren't very thick so if you're a light sleeper be aware that you'll likely hear the next room's TV at night. However, shampoo, conditioner and body wash pumps are provided for you in the bathroom and our room was very neat and tidy. Very nice library by the lobby and every book in it (1000+) has been signed by the author. Definitely a good hotel.

Not worth the price. I paid over $200 for a super small room. I had to move a lamp to access the closet and there was not even a bathtub in the room. I normally wouldn't mind, but for being so expensive, this room was NOT worth it. Be very sure about what size room you get before coming here. Also the A/C was very noisy, the phone and TV also don't work.

Went there for the Thanksgiving day buffet, it was wonderful , my only slight issue was that unlike most buffet the drinks didn't come with the price of the buffet which I thought was odd they charge you for o.j. Lol consisting your paying 60 some bucks for a buffet xD but it tasted really good only food that tasted good but the brussel sprouts were too hard not cooked enough but great service, great place to spend the holiday!

My friends and family went to the Russian tea service today. We all got food poisoning. The tea was over steeped and the waiters pour the tea messily. The food for the most part was good going down bad coming out. Would not recommend.

It was a fun place to stay for a couple nights. Good location - we walked everywhere. The tea room became a bar in the evening and was perfect for a relaxing glass of wine after a long day out and about. A little pricey but so it goes...

Great experience. Nice hotel, clean room. Friendly staff. Handed me a beer while I was checking in and when I got to my room, the lights were on and there was a hand written welcome note on the table. I hope I get to stay there again.

Fantastic stay. Received a couple emails prior to our arrival going over basics of the hotel. Upon arrival was greeted promptly and offered a complimentary local beer. The front desk went over everything and offered up a few perfect suggestions for what to do and places to check out that evening and following morning. Concierge was spot on with those, basing their suggestions on our preferences and their local expertise. Very friendly and knowledgeable. The hotel was really cool and old with nice modern touches. The location was perfect for our brief stay and easy to find and access. The room was great. No views but very nice bathroom and luxurious bed. Also, side note, had the absolute biggest TV we've ever had in a room. Believe it was 65". Certainly wasn't the focus of our hotel search and we only used it just before bed, but that was a welcome surprise. We parked in a local garage (for half as much as hotel wanted) that was across the street. An excellent experience, from start to finish. Look forward to staying next time we're in town!

We arrived at 3:45pm and had to wait an additional 45 mins for our room to be ready. We sat in the lobby waiting while someone needed to "inspect" the room. When we arrived in the room it was spacious and nice decor. I found someone elses hair in the bathroom on a shelf and my daughter complained of 2 small bug bites the next morning after staying in the hideabed. We the scoured the room for bed bugs to make sure that we would not be taking them home.
At check out we had our car called for and again waited 35 minutes in the lobby for our car to arrive. We were given excuses that we were leaving as a large influx of high tea customers were arriving. I would think it may be better to change the check out time to noon if this is an issue of timing.
I would not stay here again since there are dozens of options in downtown Portland.

The hotel was great and the staff was friendly. However their restaurant was under construction so only room service was available. I was surprised to see that they charge $5 plus a 20% service charge for that.

Front desk was very unfriendly. Garbage and wall paintings clutter the hallway. A man hanging the paintings has been pounding on the walls for hours. My room and bathroom look nowhere as nice or roomy as the hotel website or google photos More

We ate at headwaters at the hotel, got a, ribeye steak that was extra fatty and swimming in the worst red wine sauce I've ever had! The dessert wasn't any better. The food would be bad at any price, but at what they are asking for it was flavorless yuck.

Pro: They cracked a beer for me upon arrival. Room was deluxe and stylish with huge TV and bed. Con: Parking sucks, especially by yourself, at night, in heels, with three bags- a full two blocks away...so I opted for the spendy valet.

On my way to Portland from Eugene I came down with the flu. We arrived early to our reservation so I could get to bed. The Heathman upgraded our room and got us in a space right away.
My husband left for our event and I stayed behind in the room. I called down to the front desk to see if they could send up some crackers to settle my stomach. The front desk said that they didn't have saltines but that they could toast some bread and make me chicken noodle soup. I said that would be great.
A little while later, room service arrived. I thanked them for the soup and said that I hadn't thought chicken noodle was on the menu.
"It wasn't, but it is now," he said. Then he smiled and told me he hoped I feel better.
This is great service and goes above and beyond. We will be back!

The area made it very convenient to walk to nearly all of the major downtown events/locations (e.g. Saturday Market, Powell Book Store, dozens of food carts, and Portland State University). The Premium King room was cozy enough for two. Sizable ~42" LCD TV. This wasn't a smart TV and didn't seem to have satellite television channels. So, bring a Roku or equivalent if you plan on having movie options. As for service: very friendly staff and suited door greeters! Overall, one of the most quality hotels I've ever stayed in.

I'm sad because I used to love this hotel, but in the past few years it's changed quite a bit. It used to be dark wood and velvet- very old school & upscale. Now it's more trendy and a lot of the old amenities have been overlooked (cocktail at check in, coffee&tea, etc). There was also a large plumbing issue in our room.

Just ok. Wasn t offered complimentary drink on check in. Found out it was included with my resort fee from hearing the people checking in beside us being offered it and seeing it written inside the key sleeve. Bathroom was dirty. Cute lobby but there are much friendlier hotels in Portland.

The stay at The Heathman was wonderful. All of the staff from the front desk and the valet were very friendly and helpful with anything we needed. We brought our dog and they were super dog friendly and even learned the name of our dog and always greeted her and made the stay even better. The room was a decent size but typical for a hotel in a big city. Everything was very clean and the new remodeled rooms look very nice. There is only valet parking kind of pricey but the valet staff were always quick to get our car. Overall the service was 5 star and I would definitely come back and stay here again.

The room smelled like cigarettes and found gross hairs all over my bathroom.. but I had already moved rooms once and was too tired to change again. In the middle of the night the seat slipped off the toilet as it wasn t bolted down properly and I fell in :( and beds super squeaky- like roll over and makes so much noise. Asked for room service and came back two hours later and nothing was cleaned and all cleaners gone. Called front desk and young man was unapologetic and offered to have TOWELS brought up..??? Like what? Overall bad experience.. won t be staying here again- will advise friends to as well.

Friendly service, great atmosphere and very nicely remodeled building. Rooms are very nice with upscale finishes. Location is very central and convenient. If you are staying over the weekend, dont pay the ballet parking which is pretty steep. ($50). Simply park on the street since parking enforcement stops at 7pm on Sat and starts again om Sunday at 1pm.

I arrived for a conference around 10 am. I had my office book my stay back in July. I arrived and gave the concierge my name. After he continue to click for five minutes I asked if there was anything wrong. He said they couldn't find my name and perhaps they spelled it wrong. I gave them the name of my office director thinking they put the reservation under her name. Nothing. I pulled out my confirmation email with all of the details. He took it and the clicking began again. I waited, again after a few minutes I asked if anything was wrong. He said I had no reservation and asked if I was sure that the room was paid for. I pointed to the confirmation sheet with the credit card charge noted. Still nothing. I called my office and they assured me that it was settled. Then the concierge said he would need a credit card authorization signed by my office. I had them email my office the information. While waiting for this authorization, the concierge asked me for my credit card. I asked why? He said for incidentals. On my guard I asked how much the charge would be. He said $300 to be held on my card and released 5-10 business days after the end of my stay. I told him that was ridiculous. He then offered $250. I said no. $200? NO. Then he said I need to speak with my manager. I hoped the manager would come out. NO. I waited another few minutes and he came out and said, ok no card needed. Then I was given my room key, without an apology or a thank you or an enjoy your stay.
I went to my room and as I was about to open the door a lady exited. We greeted and I asked was that her room. She said it was and that she hadn't checked in last night so perhaps that was why they gave me the same room. Livid, I went down stairs with the lady in tow. I told them someone was in my room. The response...that's not possible. I said the lady is right here. She stated that she was not checked in and she handed them her keys and walked out. A shrug and then I was given a second room key...thankfully this room was not occupied.
I requested that my room be made up each day of my stay and that never happened. Every time I walked into the lobby to go to my room I was asked "Can I help you with something?" and I explained I was a guest.
On check out I noted that I had borrowed some books from the library and I left them in my room. I was told that I needed to bring the books to the concierge to make sure I returned them...so back upstairs I went to get the books and handed them over. After scanning the books, even though I didn't have to go through this when I got them, they said I was free to leave.
Free to leave! I will never, ever, stay in this parade of awful hotel. No apology from the staff, no chagrin at their incompetence, just a be happy you are allowed to stay here attitude. Glad I was only there for three nights.

My Daughter was married in downtown Portland on December 30, 2017. I made a reservation at the Heathman Hotel for that night so we wouldn't have to drive home late. We arrived about 11 pm and went straight to bed. We never unpacked. The next morning we ordered room service, ate and had coffee. we got dressed and drove home. It was later that I realiized that I left my jewelry on the bedside table. I called and was given to lost and found. They transferred me to housekeeping, I was told there was no jewelry left in my room. This wasn't a matter of did I or didn't I leave it. I know for a fact that I left it, I called back and asked for the manager. Her name is Darren, Out of at least 10 calls made to her she only returned one and I was at work. She made no effort to investigate who entered the room when we left or perhaps checked to see if it was misplaced in lost in found. I gave her plenty of time to respond. I called again and this time talked to a supervisor named Jennifer. She assured me that there is a protocol for these situations. She had me email her a photo of the jewelry and said she would start the process and call me later. No call ever came. The necklace I was wearing was of sentimental value and can't just be replaced. I also lost earrings and a bracelet but at least they can be replaced. I know that it was my mistake to leave them there but accidents happen. This hotel should in the very least treat customers as if they care and investigate when something does go wrong. I will never stay there again and I will tell my story to all who will listen .
