The Heathman was great. From the extremely friendly staff, to the excellent food and nicely decorated room. They greet you with a free bottle of beer which doesn't hurt either. Will definitely stay there again whenever I am in Portland.

Fantastic stay at the heathman. Got the room last minute over hotel tonight, so be sure to check that as well. It was definitely not cheap, paid almost 330$ for the night plus valet parking. Service was pretty amazing, with a really good restaurant connected to it. The room was fantastic and the mattress as well.

I really enjoyed our stay, from the time we pulled up all the staff helped us get situated. All of the great amenities that they offer are awesome. The room was very clean and comfortable. I had only one issue, we ordered a late night snack that didn't come the way we ordered it. We ended up not liking it too much. The service was prompt and came on a convient platter with ice water which was awesome. The following morning the manager Daryn checked to see how the stay was, and I mentioned the issue. He removed the charge of the service which is more than I was hoping for! The staff and service at the hotel was the best we've had in a long time. I highly recommend staying here if you're visiting the Portland area.

Beautiful wood paneling and chandeliers throughout. A library of first editions signed by the authors who've stayed here. They have a bucket of champeign at the front dest for and hand it out liberally. I went on a little tour and posted to to Youtube for a real sense of it's grandeur.

We were lucky enough to get a reservation for the Russian Tea Experience at Headwaters, in the Heathman. The decor was wonderful, big Christmas trees and matryoshka dolls. The tea was good, they had a nice selection of loose leaf tea. The food was mediocre. Interesting, but not great. We did not see people finishing the platter at other tables, either. For instance, there were devilled eggs, but they were flavorless and pasty. The poppyseed rolls were too chewy. Nothing stood out as memorable. The waiters were rushed and didn't refill hot water regularly. For the price, I wouldn't recommend it. Get a regular lunch at Headwaters and walk through the tea room for the decor. We decided not to return for the Holiday buffet, as neither food nor service was up to par.

This hotel deserves a clap! It's very central hotel, convenient for getting round the city. Only 10 minutes away from Powell's book shop and with much of downtown right on your doorstep. Good decor with a lot of extra services. One great touch was offering complimentary local beers on arrival. As well as sampling local spirits in the evening. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The restaurant is overpriced and the food is meager. Ordered drinks prior to food service: drinks not served. Restaurant added a wellness charge to the bill which is apparently to pay for wages and health care, although not listed on the menu. Not recommended.

I stayed at the Heathman in the fall of 2017 and it was eh. The walls are thin, you can hear the nearby room doors close.. please oh please the sounds of doors slamming!! There was a feature they offered with so many nights you get a bar credit if you didn't utilize house keeping. I was still charged regardless of my following their promo. There was mold in the shower and the food at the restaurant.. was.. well I had better. I had no idea of the hype of how great this hotel was supposed to be and I promise I felt none of that luster. I won't be staying here again.

The room was satisfactory; the bed was great. Website didn't mention $50/day valet parking charge or the $27/day amenity charge. We were offered a beer when we registered, and aTom Collins was available at 5 pm in the library. We were not able to consume either. The noise level Sat. nite was not good, a wedding party returned and the noise continued until 2 am.

Stored at the Heathman to join friend in a holiday gathering, but the #snowpocalypse had all the friends cancelling by email. The bar ranked up the fun. Bartenders were in a great mood, patrons were happy, and we all rode out the storm making new friends.

Not reasonable price. They don t have parking, only valet and it is 50$ per night!! Water in room not free. They don t have coffee machine. They provide you with kettle, but there are no socket for it, so I had to boil it in bathroom. Also, bathroom is ridiculously small, they don t have a bathtub. Uncomfortable mattress and pillows. I stayed with my brother, when we checked in I asked for room with two beds, and they refused me, so I was forced to sleep with my brother in one bed. Very poor noise insulation, I clearly heard heard conversation in next room. There was the only positive thing, complimentary beer at check in. Only because of that I give it two stars, but it deserves one.

Came here for our anniversary. The staff was very nice and helpful. They gave us a newly renovated room on the top floor. When getting off the elevator we could already smell fumes and the room was even worse. Probably from new paint. When I woke up in the morning my eyes were all puffy and I had itchy hives all over my body. I find it incredibly irresponsible of the hotel to allow anyone to stay in these rooms that still have high concentrations of VOCs. I told the front desk about it and they said they would have someone take a look, but they took no action to make this right with me. I would never stay here again.

Update: One week later I am finally almost over the allergic reaction after a $200+ doctor's visit, high doses of steroids, and a day's lost time at work. The hotel has an automated feedback system which I responded to, but they still didn't take any action on the feedback I provided. I have not received any kind of apology or regrets. I wish I could give them 0 stars.

Hotel is wonderful but something is BADLY WRONG with their online reservation system. This is the FOURTH TIME I booked a room there for my boss, and they once again claim there is no room when I just tried to move it. Of course, I AM THE ONE CATCHING HELL EVERY TIME THIS OCCURS!! They won't admit there's a problem.

So if you book a room, DO NOT DO IT ONLINE!!

Do not stay here. After I checked out a left they charged me over $150 in amenity fees and never sent me a receipt and the worst part is a Calle the manager three times and she has never called me back. There are a lot of great options in Portland no one needs this BS.

They have a lot of extras that I haven t ever seen before in a hotel (spirits hour, welcome beers). They do focus on these amazing amenities in lieu of 24-hour coffee station that I ve liked with other hotels. That s fine. Still an amazing hotel with great customer service and unique common spaces.

The check-in process was simple and the staff was "dog sitting" for a fellow guest. quite charming.
The hotel, though a bit dated in some ways, was well-appointed with lots of outlets for phone, computer charging, etc. The room was not over-crowded but had a comfy little sectional sofa that was much appreciated. The robes were roomy and tasteful and the complimentary umbrellas were most appreciated.

Relaxed atmosphere with beautiful architecture and art work. Hotel is clean, stylish, with great cozy library that's great for reading, or getting work done. The service is great and the hotel team is very friendly, accommodating, and helpful. I would recommend staying here if you're in the Portland area. It's a great experience.

Great hotel - loved the ability to choose our bed! Who ever thought of that was a genius!!!! The Tempurpedic was so comfy! Room was small but very nice. And, since we were in the city, we didn't spend much time in it anyways. The only down side - I ordered the local beer sampler as a gift to be brought up when we arrived. I had to call for it 3 times and we ended up wasting almost 2 hours waiting for it. When it was brought up were were told they got busy and just forgot about it. Plus it wasn't even cold! I appreciate the honesty and it might not seen like a big deal but when you're only in town for one night something like that stands out.

ALL of the staff we encountered were awesome, the hotel is in a great location, rooms were clean, had a wonderful time!! I do not recommend the romance package, basically get parking, a so so bottle of champagne, and a tiny 2x2 box of chocolates for additional 100.00.

Went to the Heathman Hotel for the Russian Tea experience, and was unimpressed. The tea was improperly prepared and bland. Most of the desserts were bland as well. Well other tables had fancy porcelain tea cups or glass tea cups with silver inlay, we had squat ceramic cups that look like they were from Denny's. For $40, I expected much, much more.

Our stay was good up until 2 days after the end our stay when we were charged a $35 fee for apparent usage of a wine that was provided in the honor bar. This was a definite mistake on The Heathman Hotels part as we stayed clear of the the high honor bar prices. They did return the money back after I called them and explained the situation. However, at a hotel like The Heathman, mistakes like these should not made. Perhaps there should be better review of staff. This was enough to make me weary of staying here again as it caused a great inconvenience to my budget and my time.

The staff here are always wonderful. Beyond our occasional stays at the hotel, we've hosted a holiday gathering there the last few years. Each year, they're wonderful to work with, and always go above and beyond. A special thanks to Reed for all the help this year.

The heathman is a beautiful hotel with a convenient, centralized location. The rooms are a decent size, beds are comfortable with 65 inch TVs and windows that allow an ample amount of lighting. The hotel is old, but very modern and quiet. I couldn't hear the city noises at night or traffic in the hallways. The shower had great water pressure and hot water.
I have to day that my favorite part of the hotel was the fitness center which has Peloton Bikes!!! It also has weights, treadmills, elliptical trainers, boxing bags and a rock climbing wall.
The staff is friendly and helpful and definitely knows the area and can make great recommendations to guests. I was really impressed with the staff and accomodations.

Summary: rude waiter in cafe. Not recommended.

Summary: rude waiter in cafe. Not recommended.

My wife, 4 yr old child, and I stopped at the Heathman Hotel's restaurant on the morning of Thanksgiving day. We just wanted some tea and some pastries, and told the hostess so. She told us that'd be fine, to sit in the cafe area rather than the main dining area, and gave us their breakfast menus, which had several teas that looked interesting, plus some breakfast items that would have suited. Less than five minutes after we sat down, while I had the menu still in hand, a waiter came by and grabbed those menus, saying that those were the "old menus" and here were the "new menus". That he snatched those so abruptly was rude. What was worse was that he replaced them with a prix fixe menu for a Thanksgiving lunch -- $45 per adult and $18 per child. Much heavier dishes than just tea and pastries that we wanted. By the time we realized what happened, the waiter was gone. Anyway, we ended up just leaving. It was rude, and made for a poor start of Thanksgiving for us!

Very nice place, but lacking in some fine details for a high end place. We went for Russian tea and were severely disappointed. There may have been 2-3 bites that didn't seem stale out of the entire selection. The tea was nice. The value I would rate a 1 or 2 compared to any other (high or low end) tea service/event I've had. We certainly will not be back or recommending this to anyone.

There is a lot of character in this place. It's very unique to the world I live in at least. This place is rocky and fun.Shared bathrooms have never been so great, but this hotel the experience to a different level than the rests. What I'm really trying to say that this place is weird, and I love that. Parking was hard to find but I'm horrible with maps so I can't knock it.I would stay here again. And several times over if I come back to this city.

After a Portland Science Lecture on a Thursday night I was invited to a late dinner with other guests and the speaker. The Heathman Hotel was just a short walk from our lecture location and the food, service and ambience were just delightful. We even got to walk through an area on the 1st floor where a live band was quietly playing.

I've worked in the service and hospitality industry before and best customer experience is always a priority, but somehow a really difficult task to achieve. The Heathman Hotel blew me away with their commitment to providing a great experience. They deployed surprise and delight standards along the way, leaving me more impressed after every interaction. I will always stay here when I'm visiting the area because of your genuine commitment to your customers.
Now, let's talk about design. As a fanatic of good design, I was in awe of the decor here. The balance between classic and modern elements are impeccably executed. The art collection is amazing, and the common areas are somewhere we didn't want to leave. Truly, this was all around the best experience we've had at a hotel.

Service was wonderful. Our original room happened to be adjacent to a screaming baby, so I politely asked to be moved elsewhere. They were quite accommodating, and ended up upgrading us to the Literary Arts suite, which was absolutely stunning!

While we did not have dinner at the restaurant, we did stop by the bar to have a few drinks. The waitress was delightfully pleasant and very helpful with her suggestions, the menu had a nice selection of drinks, and the atmosphere was very festive.

Definitely looking forward to staying here again.

Great location in downtown Portland, even more improved by the excellent amenities, friendly and helpful staff, complimentary check-in beverage, and clean rooms. At night we couldn't even hear the street noise which was appreciated. The missing star is due to the current renovations which were quite loud on our floor (midday nap for our little one was a bit difficult). Otherwise, I highly recommend this hotel.
