My experience with Honolulu Volkswagen has been nothing short of an exceptional blessing. If I could leave several 5 star reviews I would and my reasonings for doing so would make this review extremely long so I will try to keep it brief.
First and foremost, a HUGE thank you to EJ. I recently separated from the military and, due to circumstances, needed to trade in my vehicle and leave island the same day. He worked exhaustingly with Jeff to make it possible for me to accomplish both. A part of that work was volunteering to handle my vehicle drop-off so that it could be shipped to the mainland. I was very stressed that day and did not know how I d be able to make the drop-off in time so this was a huge relief. However, we were not prepared for the obstacles that would come. I needed to get more paperwork because of technicalities with ownership of the vehicle. That took a while. When EJ first attempted to drop off the vehicle he was told we needed more paperwork. That took some more time. Due to COVID-19, additional delays held up his attempt to drop the vehicle off. Another attempt, he was told, in error, that he needed additional paperwork. Finally, after more than a month later, EJ was able to complete the entire process which saved me an out-of-pocket expense trip back to Honolulu. I thank him very much for taken on this burden and truly felt like a family member because of his compassion for my situation. Without EJ, I would have had to accrue expenses during a time where work and travel is slow and unpromising. He saved me from doing so and has my gratitude. Thank you very much, EJ! I do appreciate it.
But it is to no surprise that EJ went above and beyond. For years, beginning with trading in my first used Volkswagen, I had to come into Honolulu Volkswagen for maintenance and repairs and each time I was warmly greeted and graciously taken care of by Alyssa. She always remembered who I was, what issues I had been dealing with before, and gave me the best selection of options to take when I had to make financial decisions regarding the vehicle. We all have had experiences at dealerships where the staff may be cold or tone deaf to you as a person and it was never my experience with Alyssa. Even when she wasn t at her desk and I was greeted by another, when Alyssa returned she took over and we bounced into our usual rhythm. Thank you very much, Alyssa for everything.

Honestly one of the worst experiences I ve had on the island. This is definitely one of those if I could give it zero stars I would situations. Rude staff, dishonest representation and absolutely no communication. I tried so many times to call and discuss my concerns but to no avail. I honestly wish I had never purchased a car from them. Such a mistake.
First thing I can say is that this place is honest. We were helped by Livingston, and we originally went in to look at cars we had saved online. Only one was still available, but he found another car listed incorrectly on their site and suggested it as a great deal. Even with my skepticism I gave it a shot and he was right, the car was great and even below the lowest kbb value. We didnt plan to get a car THAT day but they gave us a deal that was actually too good to pass up, and were happy for us. Couldn't ask for a nicer experience and would recommend this place to anyone.

I really just want to take a second and talk about this amazing guy at Volkswagen. His name is EJ and he is the best I have dealt with in a long time. I walked in a few months ago and he walked me through everything. The good thing about him is that he isn t trying to sell you just any car he wants to put you in a car that you love and can afford. When I first met him he got me approved with crappy credit and the month wasn t expensive. I was a fool and turned it down. He never held it against me. I care back yesterday after hours and he work his magic once again. I ended up with a new car low payments and little monies down. Ej has now become family! If you ever need a new car, great deals and amazing care, go see Ej he works hard for you !!

Tried to agree on a price with this dealership but they wouldn't budge. I don't blame them...why should they when there's only two Volkswagen dealerships on the island? However, why should I agree to their prices? After hours of haggling local dealerships would only come down to $750 ABOVE invoice price. Turned out to be a 2% discount off MSRP, a whopping $663 off MSRP. Who actually buys cars at that price?! This doesn't even include doc fee, taxes, and registration, which is roughly $2000 more. Luckily I qualified for discounts which could have got me $1500 automatically, but "ordering a car was not worth it, they would lose money" and I would have to wait up to 6 months.
Well, I didn't want to pay that price or wait. Instead I bought from the east coast mainland where they are able to give STEEP discounts because of the high volume of sales they do. The mainland dealership, with NO HAGGLING AT ALL, gave me their internet price which was $7299 OFF MSRP.

Flew from Maui to purchase a used car I had been messaging a sales associate, Kyle about. Kyle was very patient as I had many questions and was uneasy about some of the process. Experience was exciting and pleasurable. We highly recommend this dealership to anyone who loves VW's. We visited quite a few dealerships and the VW dealership on Nimitz HWY, was by far the best. Location was clean, cars were clean, and sale consultants were friendly and accommodating. We did not experience any pressure from anyone here. Other dealerships in the area or cities within a 25 mile radius, were the opposite. Cars were not clean, and some vehicles had bugs inside, couldn't see out the windows during our test drives, it was unprofessional. Volkswagen was SUPERB in that department. We are more than likely to return to this dealership. Aloha VW!!!

If you go, ask for Kyle! He was an amazing salesman in many different ways. He treated us like real human beings. After a long day of already bad experiences, he was calm and let us lead our buying process. That alone set the tone for the entire night. He had no issue with us taking the time to look at the lot and looking inside each car that we were interested in. There was never a moment of pressure to do anything we didn t want to, which relived so much stress from our shoulders. We admired his consistent patience and kindness. We had a quick and easy awesome deal for a GREAT car. Everything throughout our process with Kyle and the other people of that location was just so positive! Kyle alone went above and beyond to make sure we had the exact car that we wanted. He even went as far as to bring in a specific car for us.
The location alone is cleaner than any of the 6 dealerships we visited. On top of that it felt like we were at a coffee shop hanging out with a friend.
The ONLY take away from this experience was the slight lack of care from the detailing department. The outside was washed and buffed but the inside was just lightly picked up. The carpets weren t vacuumed in the back and the tires still had grime all over them. More than a days worth of driving could cause.
But that was all stuff we can just fix up on our own and wasn t a big deal.

Great experience in half the time! Normally once I've picked the car I want it takes anywhere from 4-6 hours to negotiate and get the paperwork done. The staff was welcoming and professional, an hour and a half later I was driving away in the car I wanted. Highly recommend!

One word sums up my experience at the Volkswagen dealership in Honolulu, INCREDIBLE. The customer service, pricing, and everything in between was great. We bought a used BMW and our sales person, Livingston, was awesome. He was patient, knowledgeable, and really made us feel that he had our best interest in mind. I'm very picky when it comes to cars, but Livingston answered all my questions and if he didn't know the answer he would find it out. We were at the dealership for over 6 hrs and way after store closing but the whole time Livingston had a smile on his face. I'm a hard negotiator and Livingston and his manager Jeff were awesome. They worked with our budget and even though I did not get my ideal price, they definitely made an attempt and got it as close as possible, and in the end we were very happy with the purchase. Usually car dealerships have bad reputations for hard sales tactics, but I feel the Volkswagen dealership, especially Livingston and Jeff just genuinely wanted to make an honest and fair sale. They were very transparent, explained everything, and just made us feel that we could trust them. Every issues I had, and I definitely had a lot of issues, they took care of it. For example, the rear lights were not lighting up, I wanted a second key, etc, they were happy to accommodate. I definitely give them full marks for customer service, accommodating customer needs, car selection, and pricing. I definitely recommend the dealership and look for Livingston! He has a warm genuine smile that makes you feel that he's really there to help you.

We had went in just too look at a car but ended up wanting to buy, we had issues with our loan but Paul, Eric and Jeremy from Honolulu VW were so awesome and patient with us! They helped us out A LOT! they gave us a great deal for our new car! They both were very patient with us, we went to the dealership at 4:30pm and never left till about 8:30pm. ( mind you they close at 8)They kept their cool and still helped us even if it took very long! lol I highly recommend going to VW! The prices are the cheapest place to get a car you want! They do offer you the best to get car loans. Also, eric is awesome! They all seemed to not mind having our two year old wander around and they also offered her snacks while we waited. Very good hearted people, they truly care and make your needs possible! Service: Easy to set an appointment online. Arrived 10 minutes prior to my appointment, Alyssa checked me in and I opted to wait at the dealer until my vehicle's service was done. The fast wifi helped me get some work done too. Finished up with a wash and I was ready to go in about 1.5 hours.
Had to sell my 2015 dodger in order to purchase a new vehicle. Brandon made it very easy and I was offered a great deal on my car even though the tires were a little more worn then I thought. Purchasing the Jetta from Honolulu VW was awesome. The process was efficient; the people are very pleasant and took care of us. We drove test the car and drove home with it in a couple of hours. No one wasted our time nor were we pressured to buy. Truly a professional team and we appreciate the service that we received.
Consistently overcharge for labor. Example, a $100 part with $500 of labor. This was for a fuel pump.
On a different vehicle I was quoted as needing roughly $500 worth of parts, and labor cost totaled nearly $3,000. They also refused to fix an oil leak on a car they tried to sell me. I would avoid this dealership at all cost. No VW is worth the hassle of dealing with these guys.
Livingston and David helped us out. I m nocturnal and came by a few times after closing to check out the car I wanted. They stayed late for me and ultimately got the deal I wanted. 10/10 would recommend.

Avoid buying a car here at all costs. This dealership only cares about making the sale, not about what happens after the sale - customer service, building a customer relationship, etc. There was an issue with my car the day after I bought it and the dealership offered no solutions or help. The salesmen will promise you perks so you buy the car, but refuse to follow through on the promise - even though it s written in the contract. I had truly the worst overall car dealership experience. Absolutely go to Tony Volkswagen in Waipahu instead; don t believe the lies at Honolulu Volkswagen.

Jessica at VW Honolulu made my Service Department experience enjoyable. Most people don't want to take their vehicle to the service department in the first place and usually might not be in the greatest of moods. Jessica was very personable and made me feel at ease during my time there. The service was very quick for my "low tire pressure" and "check oil" issues and I was out of there in no time!
So this is my first time trying to buy a car and I've been doing my research on other SUV brands such as: GMC, Buick, Cadillac and Acura but I always had my eye on Volkswagen. I mean their advertising is everywhere and they are very personable on reaching out to customers about what promos, incentives and rebates that were going on every month. So I thought, "why not, just take that first step." I test drove the RDX, XT4, Encore, Terrain but I didn't like the feel or look of them. Plus the deal specials were not all that special. As soon as I stepped into VW I felt that fun, family-like atmosphere. So welcoming and everyone had smiles on their faces like they truly enjoyed being there. I was welcomed by Sage and Justus. They were very friendly and I ended up working with Sage. Who I thought was THE best salesperson. So informative and helpful throughout the entire process. I got to have a chat with the GSM, Mark Sherlock, and GM, Angela, of VW which hardly ever happens when you are trying to buy a car. Mark really hooked me up with an awesome deal that I couldn't refuse especially because the trim level I desired, was an SEL Premium with 4Motion, only had one color in stock. Red. Which I truly did not want but now it has grown on me. Eric Mak in finance was great, made the entire finance process so easy and simple. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience at VW. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. Now, I can honestly say I love my new RED Tiguan. Definitely take that first step like I did!

He was determined to give me as much information possible first before suggesting to come down to the dealership, which was totally opposite from previous experiences where I felt pushed to come down even if I was not totally interested yet. At the dealership I had the same response. Didn't feel pushy at all like previous dealerships and I felt James was trying to give me the best information for me to make the best decision for myself. I was even allowed to leave and come back on a different date, unlike other dealerships where they basically made me think I'm regretting walking out the door. Also even though I couldn't test drive the car, I have little to no complaints about my purchase, no car is perfect. Looking forward to getting the same type of service when I get my car serviced in the future.

Our customer service technician Jessica was excellent. She was polite, professional, and committed to great customer service. The problem with our vehicle was appropriately addressed within a timely manner. The concerns of the mechanic as well as the reasons for cause of the vehicle issues were properly communicated to the customer. Finally a quick follow up to how the vehicle was doing post-service was conducted to insure the problem was effective solved. There was nothing more that we could expect from the great customer service we experienced.
I came here at the end of their work day and they didn't seem to mind. They were helpful and informative. The teamwork they have doesn't go unnoticed. This was the best experience I've ever had at any car dealership.
