Aweful, I went to check my engine, I waited for 3 hours, I have no idea what a mechanic did. He didn't do nothing then, they charged me $169. A lady working at the front, explained to me they were going to charge me just $150, but with miscellaneous fee, they charge $15 more. And she promised me to send me a cheque in which she did not. Liar liar liar.
I am not going to go there for the rest of my life. Aweful mechanic, poor customer service. No VW for the rest of my life and my family.

The first impression I have of Volkswagen Honolulu is family. The fine staff there at Honolulu Volkswagen really help take the pressure off purchasing my 2020 Jetta GLI. Alright dealer. The usual pleasantries of free coffee and water. What ended up happening to me is essentially I put a down payment on a lease and signed everything. Got a loaner vehicle cause the vehicle I was leasing( a orange 2019 Tiguan) was in the back and they'd need a day to get it out, wash and gas it. Fine. The loaner I received was a dirty 2018 dodge journey not even a VW. Still fine. It was loaner for supposedly a day. The following day we were told to wait for finance and to keep the loaner. Over the weekend we were then told to wait till Monday and again keep the loaner. On Monday we were finally told they couldn't honor the original lease agreement and wanted more money down or a higher lease. They were adamant they could get me a good deal if I just financed it instead which I refused. We agreed on the lease. You can't change it after the fact. They then insisted on showing(and offering) me a white golf sport wagen. Which was frustrating not cause of the golf but because I was adamant that the only color I didn't want was white. Finally unable to agree on anything I was told to wait a few more days with the loaner while they are still unable to do our original agreement. They tried offering me 2018 models for finance which I again declined. I finally fed up just brought the loaner back and demanded my down payment back which after two more days they finally furnished a check. It was honestly a joke and just felt like they don't value their customers time especially since I had to keep coming down from Schofield. In contrast. The Kia dealer next door gave me a awesome deal on a 2020 Kia Sportage that had all the features that the Tiguan had plus more. I signed and got the vehicle in one night. They even were able to meet my original monthly payment I wanted that VW had told me was too low.
Long story short the dealer seems to heavily push on financing new vehicles. The agents will flat out not show you the used vehicles that are trade ins. It took me multiple days and times of asking to see a 2008 Acura RDX they also had in their lot that I never even got to test drive although they were quick to put you into any of their new vw's.
Had the most easiest successful experience with Volkswagen Service Team! Jessica was phenomenal and even remembered my name from a different visit! They are always so helpful and welcoming and get things done in a timely manner! Thank you so much!!
I saw a nail in one of my tires so I went straight to VW. Jessica greeted me by my name and in her usual friendly manner asked what she could do for me? We went to my car so I could show her. I needed to go to the airport so she called the van service but the driver was far away so Jessica told me to wait inside. My car was done in 15 minutes! Amazing!

This was my last stop after a long day out looking a car. Jeff was the salesperson that I worked with and he was very professional and did not try to hard sell me on something I did not like. Which was nice after talking to some of the sales people at other dealerships. Erik in finance was great and professional as well. Had a really good experience getting new car.
Shawna was our sales person and she was wonderful! She was very friendly and helpful plus she made us feel more like family instead of the usual feel at a dealership (cold, slow, rude/etc) it was a very welcoming environment. Everyone was helpful and friendly. I really enjoyed the experience. She was also helpful in the fact that she gave us tips for local places to dine and beaches to visit etc. we just moved to the island so we know nothing! I would 100% recommend them and Shawna-Lei!
Jessica was very helpful when I came in with our Jetta that we have had for only a month. She made sure we weren t charged anything, and she waived the fee for a courtesy car since I live on base.

Great experience every single time I come to Volkswagen Jessica at the service desk always make me feels comfortable and informative of the services I seek plus more. Everyone is so friendly in many different ways. I enjoyed my last Volkswagen detail at such a reasonable price I even bought my Hyundai over to get best detailed. Jessica even offer me shuttle ride back onto military installation while I wait until all services are completed. Pricey on some things but of course it's a dealership. But I do have peace at mind if anything is an issue I will be well taken care of.
Had to fix something at last minute to pass vehicle inspection and Honolulu VW accommodated me without an appointment as soon as they opened. In and out in one hour and staff was very friendly, courteous and professional.
I am new to Oahu and needed a second vehicle for work-commute. While looking around the island, I found a couple possible options at Honolulu VW. I called, came in, and met with Ivan, one of the sales people. He was extremely helpful while not pushing an agenda on me. We came to an agreement that same day and I drove away with a great daily runner at a good price. Ivan was patient, knowledgeable, and friendly. Thank you!
I bought my VW second hand, still in warranty, so I take it here for service. I have worked with both Vanessa and Alissa in the customer service department, and they are both excellent. I'll give you an example. I took my car in for its 20k mile service, and the tech discovered an oil leak and a coolant leak. Alissa made sure my car's warranty covered the gasket replacement as well as the water pump, thermostat and coolant and all the labor that went with it. Didn't cost me a dime. A week later, a coolant union fails. I called at the end of the day and Alissa told me to bring it in the next morning. The repairs were going to take longer than estimated so they gave me a sweet loaner car, as well as detailed my car and filled the tank for the inconvenience. If I have a VW, I will take it here as long as they work here--they are fantastic assets to Lithia, and to the VW brand.

I normally dread dealing with dealerships but everyone at Honolulu Volkswagen was welcoming and transparent throughout the process. I didn t feel in the dark at any point. I have bought a number of different cars from different dealers in Hawaii and would say that Honolulu Volkswagen would rate among the best. Much of that is due to my sales person, Edin Begic. He did not play games or give me the run around. I told him exactly what I wanted which was a GTI and how much I was willing to pay which was below the MSRP. They accepted my offer and I was out the door within two hours. I love my car and appreciated the no nonsense sales help. I would not hesitate to deal with Honolulu Volkswagen and Edin again.

Great stress free experience with EJ my salesmen and Jeffrey Ramones the manager that took care of me during the car buying process. Jeffrey was very transparent on the price of my car and discounts available unlike the other VW dealership on the island. If you're looking to buy a VW ask for EJ and Jeffrey you won't be disappointed they where very knowledgeable about the car and where able to answer all my questions. When I visit a dealership I'm very educated on the car I'm looking to buy. This is my test when it comes to the sales team if I know more about the car than they do I turn around and look for a different dealership. If they don't take the time to learn the product they are selling it's a clear indication of a dealership that don't care about you or the cars they are selling.
This was my first vehicle purchase ever. Initially I had a lot of anxiety about car dealerships and pushy salespeople, but when I came here I found none of that. My salesman Alex, listened and found something I wanted. He even took the time to show me multiple cars on the lot based on what I told him I was looking for. There was a really relaxed vibe and I didn't feel pressured to buy anything I was unsure of. They provide carfax on all of their inventory and price the lot fairly. I highly recommend Honolulu VW, and especially their team member Alex.
Great Service! Just recently bought a car from this dealership. Everything went smoothly, I actually went in thinking I was going to get financed through my credit union but the manager I spoke to (I believe his name was Eric) was able to offer me a better rate so I ended up going with theirs. Kenny was the cars salesman that helped me. He was very professional, very friendly and he didn't make me feel pressured or rushed at all. He kept me company while I waited to speak to the manager and when I did buy the car, I didn't leave with it right away. Instead, I drove my other car that i had driven to the dealership with, back to my place and Kenny was able to pick me up from Safeway and give me a ride back to the dealership to pick up my new car. All in all, I have no complaints. I'm happy with the service I got from both Kenny and the manager, and I'm loving my new jeep!
The service was excellent. I was surprised that I was called the day before that my appointment was scheduled. I asked about my defective horn and it was taken care the same day. I was informed about an oil leak and that was the following week in reasonable time. Most of all the Service Manager was professional and informative.
Me and my wife were looking at buying a used car and we were helped by an associate named Brian at the dealership who was very friendly and helpful with what we were looking for. We were there set on a certain type of car and that is the exact car he showed to us. We were contacted and told the car was in the shop for a recall and we were told we would get a phone call when it was out and he gave us a call as soon as it was ready and within a very short period of time we had all the paperwork done and were ready to go. The associates that work there are all very friendly and polite. Will definitely be bringing the car back for service due to great customer service on first visit.
Bought a brand-new 2016 Volkswagen Beetle Dune August 2016. Had it shipped to Kauai, beautiful, pristine, my favorite color orange-ish gold. But within two weeks of ownership and only 400 miles of enjoyment, the carpeting began to get soaked with a 1/4" deep of water we vacuumed up about a quarter gallon of water turns out that a .10 cent drainage tube was installed incorrectly at the manufacturer in Mexico. The air conditioning drainage tube that should drain to the exterior of all vehicles was draining to the interior of my BRAND NEW 2016 VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE when the air conditioner was being used. The car had to immediately be shipped back to Honolulu Volkswagen to have this $.10 cent drainage tube, that was installed incorrectly at the manufacture in Mexico fixed and all of the interior carpeting had to be replaced to prevent any mold issues. The minute Honolulu Volkswagen picked the car up at the Honolulu port the car was immediately involved in an accident with a large SEMI TRUCK causing $5000 worth of body damage while in the possession of Honolulu Volkswagen's authorized employee . The car was in Honolulu Volkswagen's repair shop for about 4 weeks getting the carpeting replaced and fixing the drainage tube problem fixed, originally caused by a $.10 drainage tube installed incorrectly at the manufacture in Mexico. This (guessing) caused $4,000.00 of damage covered by the warranty, but it cost VW a pretty penny to fix? The car then spent about seven weeks in the auto body shop. I have been without the use of my brand new VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE DUNE for 11 weeks, almost 3 full months, 1/4 one fourth of a year, so far 84 days. And all Volkswagen America has offered me in compensation is a $490 reimbursement check for my inconveniences and a $490 reimbursement check for two weeks of rental car usage. That's it? Wait it gets better.... Volkswagen America guaranteed me that they would ship the car back to me when all repairs were finished. Honolulu Volkswagen has refused to accept the car back onto Honolulu Volkswagen dealership property, aggressively stopped at the gate and turned around, to ship it back to me here in Kauai, they are making the repair shop, a third-party person go through the time and trouble of sending the car back to me at my expense. Volkswagen America guaranteed me in writing that all I would have to do is send a notarized letter authorizing Honolulu Volkswagen to pick up and drop the car off at the port. Honolulu Volkswagen is refusing to honor this request and is holding my car as hostage for punishment for my honest but brutal comments on the Internet . Gets better... Because of this accident the car will lose a significant amount of its value on the Carfax report. Once the car is returned back to me I own that Carfax report. I have asked Volkswagen of America and the Honolulu Volkswagen to share this burden with me by compensating me more than what they have originally offered . Gets better... Because the police department filled out the police report sloppily, and was not accurate, and did not get proper insurance verifications from the party at fault, the party at fault's insurance company is now denying responsibility and will not communicate with my Geico insurance, this means that when it's all said and done I WILL NOT get my $500 deductible back because the party at fault's insurance company is not taking ownership and responsibility. If only Volkswagen would have manufactured a quality product. A simple $.10 cent drainage tube installed incorrectly at the manufacturer in Mexico wound up costing all of this chaos, $9,000.00 in damages to the car. And I will wind up owning all of this reported damages, even if fixed, the car has lost its value. Because Honolulu Volkswagen will not communicate with me and is holding my car hostage at the body shop and refuses to send it back in a diligent and prompt way it has cause this Honolulu Volkswagen customer many sad faces, much anxiety, much wasted time trying to negotiate a better deal for myself, much disappointment.
I always enjoy working with my service advisor Jessica. She shows true dedication and compassion with her customers. The customer waiting area is clean, comfortable, and fresh coffee is available.
Livingston and James were excellent to work with and made buying a new car a breeze. We are new to the island, and they both made us feel right at home and helped make the purchase process extremely easy. I was able to complete all but the final paperwork over the phone and set up to sign the financial paperwork. It was great to work with this dealership, and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
I never leave reviews, but my experience here compelled me to do so. Will NEVER take my vehicle here again.Took my VW in to have a check engine light checked out at 3:15 pm on July 29th, 2019. In order to diagnose the problem it requires a test with a handheld computer that literally takes two minutes.
1. VW of Honolulu told me they would charge me $150 JUST for the test to tell me what was wrong with my car. Another local shop did it for free.
2. VW of Honolulu said I need to make an appointment to have the two minute diagnostic test done, when I saw at least six VW employees including people from the parts department standing around doing nothing and chatting with each other.
3. VW of Honolulu lies about their operating hours: The parts department and shop is supposed to be open until 5 PM. For some reason the parts/shop manager was sending everyone home at 3:30 PM.
4. Two years ago I came to the same VW of Honolulu to diagnose a check engine light, and one of the employees did it for free and helped me resolve my problem without any appointment. This time the parts/shop manager (female with dark hair and glasses) argued with me, basically called me a liar, because they've "charged $150 to diagnose vehicles for the last ten years" and had one of the worst attitudes I've seen in customer service in my life. This is the same woman who was dismissing her employees at 3:30pm on a Monday to "go home" when they're supposed to be open until 5:00pm.
Don't waste your time here. Laziness, mixed with attitude from employees, mixed with price gouging/robbery makes this in my top 5 worst customer service experiences I've ever had.
I went in to check out an SUV, and ended up driving away with an incredibly reasonably priced full sized sedan. Brandon worked with me to find what worked for me within my price range and assisted me through the whole process. Ivan and Brandon made purchasing a new car for my family and me a painless process, even delivering the vehicle to my house later that evening!

It s was a pleasure doing business there. They look after there military and help with anyway they can. My man Jeff Ramones was on the scene and did it right. Buying a car from off island can be a bit of a daunting task, but the minute I flew in from Hilo, took a cab to Honolulu Volkswagen and stepped out, my salesman Jeff Ramones was right out the door ready to help. I had done my research well ahead of time on the car I was looking to purchase (a 2017 Golf GTI) so I told Jeff right away that the first thing I wanted to do was drive. He went and got a set of keys and said let's go. I really didn't need much selling...the car did that itself, but Jeff really went above and beyond to offer me something more valuable than specs or information on the car. As a salesman myself I know it can by difficult to escape the stigma and persona associated with this title, but Jeff established something way more valuable to me than knowledge, he earned my trust and respect. I would highly recommend the entire team at Honolulu Volkswagen to anyone looking to purchase a new or used vehicle, with a special shout out to Jeff Ramones...Mahalo Braddah!

Edit: Went in for my first oil change. The staff at this dealership are amazing! They offered to take me home so my 1yr old and I wouldn't have to wait. The service took less than an hour and they washed my car for free. Everyone was so kind and thoughtful, employees played with my daughter and spoiled her rotten with treats.
I've never experienced this kind of kindness at other dealerships, I believe I will stay with Volkswagen for the years to come.

My mom and I went in to the Volkswagon Dealership on Nimitz Hwy to see if they might have another Passat TDI like the older model she owned. In fact Volkswagon did have 8 in stock and it was more than our LUCKY DAY! We met Jeremy Fontes, who was like a modern knight in shining armor salesman of the year (in our book). Not only did my mom find a replacement Passat TDI , she got it in the exact color she always wanted, in the trim she wanted, and with AMAZING dealer incentives and a price point we did not even have to argue about. My mom has been on cloud nine since she purchased her new Passat and she says it "drives like a dream". She is thrilled beyond words. This one is for the service department. My wife"s car with 4K+ miles and at 89 months old had the service and check oil light come on. I called VW and spoke with Mike who said that the service light is set for 12 months from when they get the car into the dealership and just to come in and they would reset the service light and to a courtesy top off of the oil. My wife took the car in this morning and asked to have the oil checked and service lady asked if she wanted it changed, my wife being unsure told her I called last week and they said to bring it in to have it checked. The service lady said people often change their oil at 5K miles (even though their own website says 10K miles) My wife, misunderstanding the change of oil with having it checked said ok. They then proceed to charge $100 to have the oil changed on a car that didn't need service. I spoke with the service manager who said it is my wife's fault for asking for the oil change, when initially she did ask for it to be checked not changed and the female service rep said she should have it changed. The service manager's stance is that my wife ok'd the change so we are liable for the charge. He equated it with going into a restaurant and ordering something and of course they will charge you for it. I viewed it more as predatory as they are the service experts and surely should have told my wife there is no reason to change the oil on a new car with 4K miles on it and offered just to check it and reset the service light as previously discussed with their service rep Mike. It seems like pushing a client that doesn't know anything about cars just to make a $100 sale is more important that customer service and respect for their clients.
I had the worst experience at Honolulu Volkswagen ,my brand new car broke down after 10 days, I had to tow my car to the dealership and they were not helpful and extremely rude when i asked to replace this defected car , service called and said it will take about a week to get fixed, So you buy a brand new car and after 10 days you won't have a car and they won't replace it for you. Buying from them was a mistake and definitely will never happen again
I believe everyone should have principles and standards. The fact that I purchased my car on Friday, they submitted my registration for 5000 miles less than the Odometer reading at time of purchase, having to come in 3 days later for an oil change, and my Sales Rep not returning my emails, texts or calls tells me that this dealership does not have Integrity or a work ethic based on principle. I just feel like I've been scammed and they could care less since they've been paid for the vehicle. Lesson learned, right?! Well I will leave this review with some FREE advertising for your "business" since all you care about is money.
Ivan was a great help, knowledgable and friendly. I enjoyed his pleasant countenance and appreciated his candor. The place was clean, and it was nice to hear the coworkers interact with each other in an open environment. Honolulu knew my needs and my limits and worked hard to deliver. Great service done right and quickly! Went in for an oil change, and ended up addressing a recall issue and a couple small fixes covered under warranty. All done in under 2 hours. Thank you for making it all happen in one visit and on a Saturday!
James was able to meet with me on short notice. I ended up not liking the first car that I came to see, but he had other options that he thought I would like. I ended up loving his second suggestion. The manager was very generous with his trade in offer which sealed the deal for me! The car I purchased was very clean and well kept on the interior and exterior. They were able to find me a very good price for a warranty package, and worked with my budget to get it paid when I could afford it. Also, the establishment was very clean. Comfortable waiting room with many options on the TV. Water and coffee complimentary. Nice gift shop and clean restrooms! James and his manager were not the typical pushy/aggressive car salesman. They were nice, personable, and really strived to make a deal that worked for me. I will definitely recommend Honolulu Volkswagen and James to my friends and family!
It was a Monday morning and I had my Costco registration sheets on-hand for a couple of car dealerships to begin my search for my new car for January 2020.
My second stop was Honolulu VW on Nimitz Hwy. My assigned salesperson was Emma F.
I was friendlily greeted by Emma and she politely asked me the various questions to narrow down the specific vehicle for my needs.
Through this process Emma was mindful in explaining the details and procedures of every pertinent information that a potential buyer would need.
From our dialogue and with the meeting of her sales manager, Mr. Jeremy, little did I know by the end of the evening that I would be going home with my new vehicle for the new year!!!
Emma and Jeremy were indeed an impactful duet and assisted me in moving forward at my own pace and comfort level in making this positive decision.
