Location
Great location. The fire alarm goes off pretty often which is annoying. Once it went off while I was in the shower, so we had to leave the hotel and walk to another hotel. They didn't even apologize or offered to assist.
Breakfast pretty good !!! The rest regular! I would not go back!
Not good for the money, book the thistle which is basically next door but much better. Rooms are small and very basic, a lot of finishing not done on decoration. Not what I would class as a 4 star hotel, disappointing.
Not somewhere I'd have ever chosen myself, but a job in London landed me and my wife there.
Generally very pleasantly surprised and didn't experience any of the problems that other reviewers did.
Nice clean room, decent size. Friendly helpful staff. Great location. Really good breakfast.
All the staff we meet were nice, however Mr Dan Elbow (almost Capaldi) was the guy we dealt with most. Give him a raise, he was great with any issue that cropped up.
Great location (near Oxford and a tube station). The standard room was very convenient but probably because we ordered a twin bed
Hotel strongly discouraged !!!
Very dirty rooms and incompetent staff
I never set foot here again !!!
I didn't liked the place, too cruddy, I didn't felt secured. in the other hand it is very good location
Spent a comfortable 2 nights here, a good location for Oxford Street shopping , among other London attractions just yards from marble arch tube station. The rooms are comfortable ,well appointed. The restaurant is good., Breakfast is excellent Reception area very large but minimalist characterless
The room service was good but the maintanance was always horrible. We booked a family room long ago and they gave us an even SMALLER room. Then they switched us to a second room and the airconditioner was very loud. Never going to this hotel again. I do not reccomend this hotel at all.
Very good Hotel in London right next to Hyde Park and at the Marble Arch Underground station. Close to good shopping areas
Lots of issues with this hotel:
+ checkin and front desk is atrocious. rooms not ready, up-charges for checkin and long lines
+ ac broken in room for 5 days with no fix
+ wifi horribly slow. embarrassing actually.
+ bar staff slow and rude
+ rooms are quite small
A few pluses:
+ proximity to Hyde park is a major plus
+ drinks at bar are good if you can get served
Staff have a n eye for detail. Well maintained, they are doing outside renovation. But one of best hotels in London. Great location
Recommend, phone a head or book on line, buses trains taxis all local and close by with a first-class service an above-average standard clean wheelchair friendly with a bar ,shops don't in-house entertainment a chill-out room Wi-Fi,with that rock and roll feeling running throughout
Very specialized in Middle East, they are undergoing renovations. Plays. Above all verify this point.
It excellent hotel with perfect location just above the underground "Marble Arch", just steps from edgware road with all the arabic resturants and coffee shops, and at the end of oxford street with all the shopping options.
The advantage of the hotel is its proximity to Oxford and Ujurod only
Great hotel! Super nice staff, a/c in room didn't work great, but very clean and comfortable
The rooms are ok for London standards. Everything was getting on in years and not particularly waited, but overall ok. I only have to complain about the cleanliness, under my bed there were still labels from the shopping experience of the previous guest ...
Good location, luxury and spacious lobby, facing Oxford Street and Hyde Park
Location/friendly staff/helpful staff/wonderful breakfasts.
Just the name has been changed after the hammer attack while the bad service from the staff and the management is still the same. They have changed the decoration of the lobby but they couldn t make any changes to their ACs to work properly in the rooms. Just shows you how negligent is the management of this hotel. They know the AC is not working in the room but yet they insist on giving it to you. Just to make more money.
This hotel doesn t care about its guests nor about their comfort.
All of what they care about is how to take money from them.
I ve made a mistake on coming again to this hotel this summer after having such a bad experience last summer as I ve been promised that the AC issue is not going to happen again.
It did happen and they were very good on giving fake promises.
The staff at monentus bar was rude and unfriendly. Treating their customers like its a privilege to be staying in the hotel and doesn't seem too happy to be working there. A very bad experience due to the staff.
Very plush. Great for 1st impression dates and after work too.
The hotel is located in a good spot at the end of marble arch. The foyer is large and open and lacks personality. The staff were very efficient and friendly. The room I was in was small and abit tired. But frustratingly no socket near the bed or desk to charge laptop or phone. The bed was also very soft and squashed up against a wall. Breakfast was very good with lots of fresh food and plenty of choice.
Breakfast was average, however the room itself was great.
Great service, central location and not overpriced. Will def be back again
Attended a one day training events organised by Hodder publishing. The room we were based in was equipped as you would expect, round tables, presenters at the front with a laptop and a projector. There were pastries available on arrival and other snacks were provided throughout the day. Lunch was self serve buffet with hot or cold options, hot codes was either chicken or fish with rice or roast potatoes. Vegetarian dish was couscous with tomato salsa, I'd class that as a side rather than a main. Hot drinks were available throughout the day but only instant coffee.
Nice location, sort of standard you expect in Central London. Friendly and helpful staff, good facilities, minutes from Hyde Park, speakers corner and other attractions
Great rock memorabilia and good place to come to for meetings
Location is very ideal, just in central London outside the marble arch station
The hotel was elegant, beautiful and clean, and the most important thing in your glory was a shattaf in the bathroom for ablution
We had a really nice evening here. The new vegan burger was delicious. Service was very attending. There is a live music every night which is a nice add-on.
Very average room, at best. In fact we had to ask to be moved. Bed was lumpy, lights were miserable -- off, or blinding were the two settings. The lounge is huge, cozy, but service was so slow it had every guest muttering.
Can't beat the Location. Marble Arch and the underground are right outside the front door. The rooms are a bit pricy and small. Not sure if this is the norm. Would stay again.
Very well placed hotel. Nice staff. Part of the hotel appears to have been modern (and successfully) renovated, but not all and this is shocking. In particular the switches the woodwork which strongly denotes. The rooms are small with very tired furniture. No worries about breakfast. At the service level, the supplies (coffee, water, etc.) are replaced in small quantities. A bit pricey overall for the overall quality
No problems with my stay, ideally located & room was immaculate
Decent rooms, if a little tatty and starting to look tired around the edges. Checked in quite late, around 10:30pm, after a delayed flight. The check-in queue was huge and it took ages to get my room and key. My room was in a different building down the road which seemed a little odd. Breakfast was OK but the cooked breakfast could offer a little more choice.
Went to meet some there and it was a lovely surprise to see how much the place has changed for the better. Well-done.
Amazing place, has a great caffe and super polite staff, will be back again
Nice reasonable hotel with good central London vicinity
Nice room, good facilities like TV, coffee machine, fridge.
Waited until last day of our stay to write this. Rude staff, water has little pressure and is either ice cold or scalding (I'm as sincere about this as can be), two false fire alarms during our stay at 5:46am and 8:55am. I could go on but what's the point. Might have expected this in a place for half the price. We have had a wonderful stay in London despite the hotel but would not return to The Cumberland.
The hotel was under renovation and we did not know about it.
Although they upgraded us to the renovated floors. But, there is no hotel atmosphere at all. Not recommended on renovation days.
The location is good. At the end of Oxford. Nice breakfast.
Hotel is bad in terms of services and rooms are small and I would never recommend it
Old hotel, very old and unsafe rooms. Only some of the rooms are renovated. I did not like it at all, but its location is excellent
Walking distance to the Marble Arch. Has a Pret-A-Manger beside it. There's a convenience store across, shopping is just a couple of steps away (Primark, Holland & Barrett, Zara and the like). However, one must be cautious with your baggages since there are some suspicious people pacing the area. Even when you are just alighting from the bus or any vehicle to check-in. As much as possible, keep a watchful eye on your belongings. There are a lot of tour groups staying here, so expect the lobby to be packed. I find the concierge very helpful when it comes to asking for information. Upon entering the breakfast area, you will be asked for your room number. Food (breakfast) is somehow repetitive.
Great reception, prompt service, doorman was non judgemental
Ok but signs or wear and tear. Decor rather bland and unimaginative. Been a few times and never really been that impressed. It's an ok hotel, good service but overall package leaves me cold.
Service was slow
Rooms were small
Bad air conditioners are broken and everyone is upset and there is no solution. They just distribute fans in the rooms. One of the worst hotels I have lived in. This is other than the poor level of hygiene, the situation is terrible.
The only good thing I can say about this place is the location. They've just been going downhill. We were "guaranteed" our room for 3 pm when we checked in at 1 and it was never even ready until 5.. Kept giving us excuses and blaming it on their 'renovations'. Public bathrooms in the basements are filled with piss on the floors. The rooms are nothing special, pretty dirty even - questionable brown stains found on bed sheets and towels. Might as well be a generic Best Western hotel.
The floors are like mazes.. A/C in our room kept breaking down on a daily basis and had to call multiple times to finally get the maintenance guy to come fix it. Barely any proper English speaking staff.. was hard to understand their excuses of why the maintenance guy took an hour to get to our room one night. Elevators broke down for a day or two with only 2 of 6 elevators working causing massive lines just to get upstairs/downstairs. They also promised us we could keep our bags with them while we travel to another city and come back in a couple days but when the time came they refused all of a sudden without notice. This place is definitely not worth it. Stay away
I love this hotel in the heart of London... now the hotel is under full renovation.... location is perfect ..... room size comparing to London hotel room sizes is mych more better ... lobby is good and big .... breakfasts Restaurant is nice with big selection of food, continental, international, and Asian also .... if u want to stay in hyde park area or Oxford street, the Cumberland is the address ...
Good food and service although rooms too warm and toilets broken
Canon fine. Okay food. Live band when we were there!
Fancy decor can't overcome horrible customer service and a mediocre room
Dirty hotel. Room smelling bad. Dirty toilets. Hair and hairs still lying in the beds. Badly kept room, dirty, stained, cleaning done in haste, by students. Entrance hall crowded with all kinds of suitcases, staff sitting on customers' suitcases.
Stupid staff, making the same room key mistake up to 10 times. Hotel under construction, not advertised on reference sites. The Cumberland is badly held, by an incompetent management visibly overwhelmed by problems. Unqualified staff, hired on a day-to-day basis, speaking only broken English, especially Italian housekeepers who neither speak English nor speak English, looking at you with their mouths open.
A change of Management becomes IMMINENT AND ESSENTIAL
Not to set foot in this hotel, which only has the name, it feels like a center for applicants.
THE MANAGEMENT OF THIS HOTEL MISSES CUSTOMERS.
The round centre bar we had good service
The female member of staff made my new favourite None Alcoholic drink to perfection .Strawberry & basil Beautiful But Not Cheap
Had great service in the shop
2 things did add up to One star loss
Music in Ladies toilets a bit to Loud
Second 8 yes 8 members of staff for a better word "larking" about on the reception desk
Staff room Yes
NOT in Full view of Guests
Not what you want to see at all
Not professional
The last and out of the Hotel's control
When leaving the building 2 older foreign ladies were trying to sell flowers to a Hotel guest having his Luggage loaded into a taxi.He said no she spit yes spit on floor Missing him and getting my Suede boots
He told her next time was calling the Police Yes but that didn't help me
At her age Totally Utterly Disgusting

Not just your customers need watching
It's a good hotel and the staff are really helpful. Great location in London right on the central line.
