Location is the key. Service is generally good. The lifts are slow and normal waiting time is 2 to 3 minutes. Concierge service is very good and they are very co-operative. At times room service gets from average to below average. Even in deluxe superior rooms the bathrooms are small and congested.

Lint on my towel, no bedroom slippers, kettle was very dirty. Room was in a separate building, during check in the staff didn't tell me the buildings were connected at the basement (I was stupidly walking outside to breakfast at main building every morning until I saw a fellow guest go to basement). Buttons on phone for room service doesn't work, tried all the buttons and "call centre" got me connected. Asked for cotton wool twice, got cotton buds twice. It's a business hotel, cost saving, don't expect to be wowed except by lack of quality.

Great location but that is it. Stayed in a deluxe room but it wasn't what I would call deluxe, it basically just had a big bed and even that sloped towards the middle. Everything looks a bit dated and could do with a refresh. The wifi was good however.

Poor service. Hotel reception smells funny. Room was tiny and we had a deluxe with two queen beds, so cramped no space for bedside tables both sides of each bed.
They double charged me for food and drinks, over three weeks have gone by and they re still holding the money on my card. The bank have assured me it can t be released because the hotel haven t said the authority to! Completely useless. Check your bill and your bank account before you leave!!!

Bad Hotel within this price. The first day I arrived at 11PM and there is NO HOT water. So I take a bath with cool water that makes me shivering! It is UNACCEPTABLE for hotel that have no hot water. My friend arrived before me, take a bath during 9PM, he also said that there is no hot water!
But the next day everything is normal.

The bed is not comfortable. The bed is bend! When I sleep, my head and my buttocks are not at the same level. My buttocks is much lower than my head (without pillow). So my body is bend, it makes me uncomfortable. I think it is an old bed. so I change position during I sleep. My head is in the opposite site of the bed to minimize the problem. They should change the bed.

The luxury of this hotel is minimal. Even in the lobby, the floor is only homoegeneous tile 80x80 instead of beautiful marble. The lift floor is also very bad. The toilet floor only use 30x30 tile. This kind of specification is used for 2 star hotel.

The other thing is there is no washstand table in the table. We could hardly put our cosmetic product or a glass. The table is very small on the top.

The card system in the lift is poor. You need to put the card in order to press the floor. But the most problem many of the time its failed! I put the card in the lift, it is NOT WORKING, so the lift going up until 6 floor, while I stay at 2 floor. This happen many many times until I change the lift. The other lift is also the same, So I change the lift for 3 times until I go into my room @2nd floor. This waste my time. After a minute the lift working again. However the next day it is not working again. The card system is ERROR.

The window is very hard to open. You need to pull up very hard, I need to use my muscle to open the window. Why this hotel doesnt fix this up?

The water compliment is a sparkling water. I dont like sparkling. I need to ask the service room to get me more water without soda. The water bottle is too small. You need to add more.

The breakfast is standard. You have pork sausages (no chicken or beef), omelette, scramble egg, bacon, bread, fruits ect. But the menu stays the same until 4 days. I cannot imagine a person who stay more than a week, it is a boring breakfast because the menu stay 100% the same.

The only good about this hotel is the LOCATION. The location is very nice, near the marble arch and oxford street. Very near to the restaurant and hyde park - kensington garden. Good Location make me rate this hotel is 2 star. Otherwise I would rate as 1 star. Overall Im not satisfied with the hotel. London is a good city, I cannot believe the hotel withing this price is very poor.

According to the playwrite John Osborne this hotel was an excellent choice of location to discreetly commit suicide - being both large enough for a guest to pass (away) discreetly, and for the corpse not to cause too much trouble to a smaller, family run place.

The Cumberland has changed a lot since he wrote that, but not so much that it isn't still true today.

Excellent location but very expensive for what it offers. In another European country it would be three stars at most. Small rooms. Very noisy refrigerator with glass door. At night we had to cover with a towel to minimize lighting. On several occasions they left us only one set of towels for two, ... When I return to London I will try to choose another with better value for money

Beautiful new hotel with a perfect location on Oxford Street close to everything
Some of the personnel are really nice like the cleaning and restaurant personal but some staff in the reception see really arrogant and not serviceminded which is not ok for a 5 star hotel.

This should have been a 5* review because the hotel itself is great. I like the open plan vibe when you head into the foyer. On the Saturday we checked in it really felt like 'the' place to be. We were up on the fifth floor in a spacious, well appointed room with all the cool 'Hard Rock' touches you would expect. Comfortable bed, good shower, giant TV, not much to fault - although I didn't like the frosted glass door to the toilet for obvious reasons. The missing star is due to the queue we had to join at breakfast before even getting seated and the chaotic experience that followed. I suppose you could call it a rock n' roll breakfast if you were feeling generous but it wasn't really up to scratch for a semi-premium hotel. Even getting a cup of tea was challenging. I had to flag down one of the flustered staff just to get a butter knife and there was no ketchup for my sausage sandwich - boo. They also billed my credit card for the room despite the fact I paid in advance, which is annoying (even if I will eventually get it back). I would definitely stay there again, but with the hope it's slightly quieter or that they've found a way to make breakfast more soft rock than heavy metal.

Good modern hotel very close to Marble Arch and Marble Arch tube, massive reception area, currently under going external work and rebranding to Hard Rock Hotel ? Good clean up todate rooms which are very comfortable. Breakfast was very busy even with only 30 mins left for breakfast the room was very full, good selection of food with attentive staff.
Downside were lifts as they were having problems having to wait for over 10 mins for a lift at one point. When one customer asked where the stairs were so that they could walk unfortunatley the employee couldnt help.

Overak enjoyable visit.

Me and a friend booked a table for 20:15 while on a break in London we arrived on time but we seated at the bar as no tables were available. It took 30 minutes before we we re actually taken to our table. Once we placed our order, the starters came out pretty fast. However we ordered some cocktails whist having the starters which took over 20 minutes to get to us? After this point we waited for our mains which we were given at 22:15, two hours after we booked the table and 40 minutes after we had our starters!! Immediately after the mains we insisted on speaking to the manager as service was not up to standard we expected from a Hard Rock. The manger was very rude and continued to speak over our comments and tried to explain that the venue was very busy (which it wasn t). At this point it was 23:00 and we just wanted to leave, so we paid for the bill and began to exit the premises. But we stopped by a member of the bar who insisted we hadn t paid for our drinks (which we did). We then had to show receipt proof that we paid for them. The food was delicious but service or lack of service was not what we expected and ruined our night. Therefore we would not recommend coming here to anyone!

My partner and I had the pleasure of staying here on 17th February in the Rock Royalty Junior Suite. There is dedicated check in in a special area where we met Aneta who really took care of us. The suite was large with a rocking vibe and a view of the park. Everything was clean and fresh. Comfy bed too! Aneta surprised us by sending up a bottle of bubbly and a box of chocolates which were much appreciated and made the trip extra special. We also had access to a fantastic lounge with complimentary drinks, snacks and wifi. A great place to catch up on some work in a very relaxing atmosphere. Loved some of the treasures at this hotel too, especially Freddie Mercury's piano from his family home. Will definitely be coming back here next time we book a theatre trip. Thank you for an awesome stay!

Functional conference type hotel just a half block from the Marble Arch tube stop. Zero charm or ambience, but clean, and a convenient breakfast buffet at Market restaurant in the basement. Stayed with family here due to the slightly larger room sizes, which are hard to find in downtown London.

The sound proofing for the rooms are terrible. I at one point was watching a video on my phone when I heard someone try to open the door, realize it was locked, and knocked on it. I got up to go and open the door and it seemed to be a hotel employee. He then asked me to make sure my door was always closed and then was rude and refused to believe that it was closed the whole time. In the end I said I would be more careful so that he would just go away. On the last day of my stay at the hotel all of the keys for my group that was staying here stopped working for our doors and we had to get new ones. And I have heard that during the time the keys changed, that people went back to messed up rooms, and broken personal items.
Overall mediocre experience

It is a very poor value for money. I used to stay there few years ago and then I was staying somewhere else and this time I decided to stay here again, I found out that it has severely detoriated, the only good thing is it's location but everything else is not up to the standard, starting with the very long queue to check in, bad room facilities, bad business center.... etc. I can realize that there are some renovation but the hotel needs to lower the price till this renovation completed. Now you can get the same quality with much lower price or much better quality with the same price.

I want to warn for all people who wants to stay in this hotel dont put money in your safe deposit box inside the room. It happened to one of indonesian singer who stay in this hotel recently. Her name is iis dahlia she lost $15000 US dollar and 15.000.000 indonesian rupiah. The hotel doesnt want to responsible to solve this case. Its clearly the housekeeper took it in that safe deposit box. So be carefull if u want to stay in this hotel dont put your money in safe deposit box

So again it might be just me and bad luck but I stayed there for 2 nights for business. Typical hotel that could use a big refresh. Everything looks old and you can feel the weight of ages. The shower could not keep the temperature constant and kept alternating between medium and too hot. As soundproofing and thermic isolation clearly need an update, it was very cold, but the heater and fan were really loud and not very powerful so... Cold it is. Breakfast was OK and probably the best part. If I had a choice, I would pass for both personal and professional travels.

Really comfortable and well equipped rooms. Room service and concierge services take a lot of time to provide services but that is if you get hold of them in the first place. Breakfast times can be busy. I recommend the omelette bar which serves food omelettes in whichever variation you want. The place is centrally situated therefore if you are waiting for your taxi to pick you up you will face a long wait as spaces are very quickly occupied.

In the room I had a lot of problems, for example, the electricity was cut off full times. And the room was dirty.
And the service is slow but courteous. The problems can be attributed to the renovations that are being done there.
The location is great, in the middle of Oxford Avenue. There is a convenience store in front of the hotel.
