No one hardly answers the phone in the call center, I know JFS helps thousands of people. But don't tell me it takes that long to answer the phone. No one feels like getting the bus all the way downtown, or driving down there to find a parking meter, when all this can be handled at home. So they need to know for sure if they need to go down there.
First of all, I telephoned this department because I was unable to attend the walk-in appointment that had been scheduled for me. BAM, I called to inform HCJFS that since my last appointment, I have been diagnosed with TYPE THREE KIDNEY DISEASE and requested a TELEPHONE INTERVIEW. BAM, the individual that answered the telephone stated that I had already been scheduled for a TELEPHONE INTERVIEW on 12/11/13. WHEW, I am so glad since on my previously SCHEDULED INTERVIEW, which was a year ago, I had requested a TELEPHONE INTERVIEW because of arthritis in my knee. WOW, I was so glad someone was listening. UNBEKNOWNST TO ME, on 12/16/13, I received a letter from HCJFS informing me that I MISSED MY INTERVIEW. WHY, when I was told that a TELEPHONE INTERVIEW has been scheduled for me. My mistake was not getting the individual who answered the telephone NAME. WHY ME?
I hate i have to deal with these rude I'm better then you people..You wait on hold for over an hour to get rushed and talked to so badly as if there paying for your benefits.Who is there boss how could they possibly allow this to happen to a bussiness.The workers get paid to do there job not do what they want to do and carry on a better then you welfare people that call in attitude ..They listen to the call???Maybe that's why they don't care what they do because there is no consequence and or hard to detect which worker you spoke with since they take 11 calls a hour supposedly because the hold time is ridiculous. I LIVED in Texas for years and they never had you on hold longer then 30 mins so I no it's possible Hamilton County doesn't care..My case is over 40 days over and still nothing is done I've reached out to everyone they've told me to live messages with and still nothing..Praying for there system to change because it's the worst I've ever seen..God help us
Most frustrating agency to deal with, ever. Wait time is over an hour long, and after waiting that long, expect to be brushed off by a worker in less than a minute in conversation. Incompetent agency who makes the process of receiving assistance more difficult than it needs to be. I have attempted for 3 months to try to get assistance, to no avail, when I know I qualify because I have been told by these same people I qualify. I really wish I could give 0 stars.
This place is a joke stuff are very Rude front desk they act like they the ones giving you assistance. instead of your fellow tax payers. when it comes to waiting on the calling line i don't think its that busy they just want you to give up.
They are not caring at all. Domestic violence is so hard to deal with. Then they walk in an take the kids. They are rude and no respect. After 14 years of being hurt they didn't care to help her. I feel that what goes around comes around. Thanks
The system is ridiculous. Expect to deal with rude caseworkers, lost faxes, long hold times (beyond an hour) and more than 30 days to process information. Terrible treatment for those in need of help.
yea they mess up in Hamilton Cincinatti Ohio I got an interview letter yesterday the 12th and the interview was for October 11. 2019 letter dated October 8th 2018. how smart are they.....and believe they better not give me hard time for there bs.
Overall bad customer service. No excuses, and if you don't like the job in it's description, don't take it out on the consumers and be rude and impatient. It's is called decency people.
It never fails. You send the county everything they ask for and they still deny your case and have excuse after excuse. It's like pulling teeth to get what you qualify for. With the county we live in and the percentage of starving children in Cincinnati, you would think the county would be going the extra mile to make sure those who need assistance can get it. Especially those with children and are under income.
I wish they would shut this place down or hire better people who actually do their job. Thanks for nothing! And for this, I will be moving counties or maybe even to KY Lmao what a joke.
on hold for 1 hour 23 mins! and when the agent gets on they rush you off the line with a transfer and no apology for the hold time or any type of quality service....and they think they have a job??? More like a unprofessional circus! They're the lazy, ignorance you wanna rid of.

It took 35 days to process my application for food and medical. It would have been sooner, had they not lost my application for 15 days. Now I am eligible, however, I am responsible for contacting those who send the cards. Problem: all 4 options at the EDT PHONE CENTER WANT MY CARD NUMBER! I'm calling them to get a card. Until I have a card, I cannot give them my "card number"! 3 days into this insanity and I still don't have a card, a number, or a pin. What the hell, Ohio?
They denied my grandchild the right to determine my deceased son is her father. They took her mouth swab but said the legal department denied the request? Won t say why but they get paid with my tax dollars! UPDATE I wrote a letter to threaten to take them to court along with a photo of my son hugging his daughter. BEHOLD!! Less than a week later the legal department reopened the case. Went as expected with confirmation!
Terrible terrible terrible. This place is terrible. I pay child support through this joke of an organization. Although I pay, I m always kept behind, my case is no longer active yet my amount owed continues to grow?? Wait for hours to talk to a rude person who plays dumb about the situation. Have never been able to reach my case worker just her answering service that says she s away from her desk leave a message, which she never returns. I ve been leaving messages for 14 years with her and the case manager. Neither will call me back ever. I m out of state have no way of speaking in person with these crooks. They take more than double what I owe on my tax return and tell u tough. Very dishonest, screwed up broken organization....
I waited on hold for an hour for no one to answer , all I wanted to do is update my work history for my support for my two children. Yet if it s not paid they sure as hell will pull you into court and make you seem like a bad parent, it s stuff like this that put you behind because not everyone have time to got down ther every time ther is an issue to wait hours to speak with some rude lady just to have a two or three min conversation
I had an appointment at 9:30 and I was on time. I waited 2hrs before they call me . Most of their employees r rude . They literally hate people especially people from different countries those who have weak English.
Rude and incompetent. Some people are on assistance because they actually need it. Stop treating everybody like they're trying to take advantage of the system. Trust me nobody wants to call and deal with the rude and condescending employees for fun.
On hold for hours sometimes. They lie about when you will get your unemployment pay. Sorry to all the unfortunate people who are forced to deal with these people! My family will go without anything for Christmas this year. Thanks job n family!
I completely agree with everyone else. I believe you have to have a bad attitude to even be hired here. I was on hold for a hour and a half to get a horrible worker just to process. The only time you see a person is when they send you to a work program. I went into that appointment received a job offer. She was mad because she gets credit if I find a job. They denied me. When I had no income and started a new job and wouldn't receive a real check for 3 weeks Called so many times. Left massages for workers and supervisor. It's compete bs
Very difficult job, to get public assistance should be rigorous and families should have their paperwork in order and on file. I'm surprised that some families don't have simple information like birth certificates or marriage license. Always room for improvement but change takes time
This is by far, THE WORSE agency I have ever delt with.
We "received" Medicaid back in October of 2015. Except they decided to give it to my wife's ex-hausband instead of me. This issue STILL is not resolved MONTHS later. I am being fined by the IRS for lack of health coverage because they refuse to do anything to fix the problem. I have made over a dozen phone calls, filled out several forms, been promised phone calls back by supervisors that not ONE has ever made. And I cannot see my doctor or get my medications because of them.
First thing I am doing Monday morning is finding an attorney.
lived in hamilton county when applying for snap card. by the time they finished, i had lost my apartment and was homeless, living wherever i could find a place, sometimes at roadside parks, sometimes at hotel if family helped pay cost. this was at cheapest hotels that were back in montgomery county. now told i cant get snap because i no longer LIVE in hamilton county. they have no provisions for homeless people who are not living in shelters with permanent address. I cant do that with my pet. plus no children so homeless shelters dont take me until they are helped.
Keep up the good work! Please don't work too hard, and make sure you take an extra break in the day. Thanks for trying to save me a couple bucks on my taxes by limiting benefits.
Terrible organization! Very incompetent and they are degrading to people who need help. They treat people like trash that is beneath them. I even spoke with one of the supervisors that works there and he was rude to me. It makes people feel hopeless because these are the people that are supposed to help them and their families.
They entered the wrong street number off my paperwork. After several days I kept calling and they kept telling me that the case worker has up to 30 days to complete the process before they will even discuss my case. I finally talked with EBT services and they informed me that my card was returned because it was the wrong address. I'm still waiting on both my Medicaid Card and EBT card. It has been 28 days and still nothing.
In the mist of everything thing going on I have a chronic illness,my medication was denied,my insurance was cut off 3/31/020. No praise needed for her,
I've had to use their services to access health-care for my child, who is disabled. They are curt, rude, and unhelpful. Agents frequently dismiss or interrupt me during conversation, refuse to answer questions, and lose paperwork. The 30 day window for reviewing a case must not be long enough, because I rarely get a response during the first 30 days. It often takes three or four attempts to accomplish simple tasks (like a change of address). Wait times on the phone regularly exceed an hour or more.
I've been trying to get food and cash assistance for months, I signed up in person and my paperwork was *lost*. I signed up online and got a notice in the mail that I missed a telephone interview I was never notified of, therefore I was denied. I've been trying to get ahold of them on the phone. Their automated system sometimes hangs up on you, the 2 times when I could get through it without being hung up on, a person answered only to be rude, cut me off when I was speaking, and put me on hold. The first time the hold was 2 hours. I opted for a call back and didn't recieve one. The second time the hold was 40 minutes. Nobody ever answered. I'm convinced they are just avoiding people. I'm giving birth this week and can barely afford food after all of the other expenses. I could not need assistance more. These people are NOT helpful. It's really disappointing

Impossible to even get ahold of someone by calling them, they NEVER answer phones. Quite a few of the works are rude as hell too. All I have is a simple question, I either have to wait on hold for 3 hours or go sit there and wait for 4 hours.
It literally took me A YEAR to get health insurance for my family. My daughter had a heart defect when she was born and had to have open heart surgery at six months. She was 3 years old when we moved back to Hamilton county (last year). I recently just gave birth and my new baby boy wasnt even a month old yet with zero health insurance. After waiting a year and days of patience and hours of waiting on hold and constantly faxing information over I finally recieved my healthcare. I'm a single mother of two and have been denied for child care. It was no problem receiving food benefits when I first applied, however my food benefits have just been cancelled with zero attempt to tell me when I did in fact, fax over all of my avilable information. Now I'm freaking out wondering what I'm gonna do until next month.
I sat on hold for 40 mins finally got someone they said hold on put me on hold forwarded me to another automated line I hit the option I needed talked to another person after another 20 mins gave them my info got put on hold for another 30 mins. A person started talking I could not hear them at all. I said sorry I can not hear you. She said hellooo! Then hung up on me the total phone call lasted an hour and a half and i can only call between 8 and 12 which i work those hours so I have to sit on the phone while I'm at work this is ridiculous all i need is some help. I cant even log on to my online profile it keeps telling me to contact someone well I tried.
The least helpful people. They have screwed me over on multiple occasions, not to mention to talk to someone you have to wait hours and then get transferred and lied to. The worst.
They put you through too much and will cut your benefits off in a heartbeat no matter the circumstances. Some of the workers act ratchet with a stank attitude. Smh. Make you not even want the help.
I'm pregnant and they haven't been able to help at all with my application. Everyone here has such a bad attitude and you cant even get a hold of your case worker.
It is sad how they treat people who are truly in need. You can spend 45 minutes to and hour waiting on hold to finally speak to someone who is so rude and actually hangs up on you. There is no one to hold them accountable for their poor treatment of people and it really sucks when you have no other options but to pray for patience and call back.
If feels like your your a criminal when you you truly need help. Takes at least 2 hours to speak to someone and when they do answer they don't say hello I am very upset with Hamilton County Job and Family Services Downtown
This place is such a joke!! This is supposed to be a government service provided for the benefit of the community and it couldn't be anything further from that. It's like they don't want to help people out. They claim to have not received my proof of income, but then again they haven't received anyone's proof of income. I guess they never get any of their mail. Weird, huh? The affordable care act was designed to cover adults below 138% of the federal poverty level. This place is denying people their right to receive healthcare coverage. It's unethical, unlawful and downright disgusting.
These people are annoyed with you before you say your first word. I suppose if you deal with people with IQs as low as your's all day you'll be a rude person, as well. It doesn't leave room for a person with patience to ask a legitimate question. The response will always be close to "figure it out yourself."
They think (bottom line) that we (the people) are beneath them!!! If you think that, you don't need to work there!! Be more kind because some people do fall every now and then and need help!
Hold times are over an hour they don't do what they say they will. You can't get in contact with your case worker anymore. I was told they got an updated system over the holiday that kicked everyone's submitted info out of the system which they sent no notice of, so everything has to be resubmitted. Evertime I call I get the same answer which is my paper work has been submitted since the 30th he hasn't looked at it yet they will email him for the third time now.
Just horrible in every. Way. We have no rights / no remedy. I ve paid into this insurance for 40 years. I deserve something. At least an answer or a refusal.
They mailed my papers to a non existing address. It's an open field ! They said they verified the address... so if anybody reading this would like to assist removing the case tampering friends that work there as well contact me. I have irrefutable proof.
the wait time Is to long I hold for 40 min or more just to ask a question and don't get back good feed back nut to wait and it really is understaffed and underpay. the system has to many flaws and something should be done about that
Probably the most incompetent frustrating organization I've ever had to deal with. It's incredibly horrific that these are the people who are supposed to be in charge of our healthcare and food. I run into problems every single month, and then have to spend 3 hours of my life calling, waiting on hold for an hour each time, all for a pissed-off person to speak to me for 2 minutes. Today, I waited for 45 minutes only to have a rude person HANG UP ON ME after 20 seconds. I burst out in tears. I have no money for food due to the error, and now they won't even speak to me. What an abysmal organization.
AVOID THESE MONSTERS AT ALL COSTS. They took my child with no grounds or reasoning (they claim my mental health?? Which I've been cleared for since 17 years old???) And bullied me into signing a safety plan that was only supposed to last a maximum of thirty days. It has been three months. I can't get ahold of anyone and feel like I'm talking to brick walls instead of people when I do. I am getting no answers, only accusations and assumptions. I see my beautiful baby girl only four hours a week, supervised, as if I'm some kind of monster. I just want my child back and you can be damn sure I'll be proceeding with legal action. PLEASE AVOID THESE CORRUPT, DISGUSTING PEOPLE AT ALL COSTS. THEY WILL MAKE YOUR LIFE A LIVING HELL.
UPDATE: Finally, after three social workers and an intense legal battle, I took my beautiful daughter home for good on 1 9/13/18. Nearly a year after the beginning of our fight for her. A fight that would have never happened if this facility had done their due diligence and investigated instead of believing baseless accusations and treating me like absolute garbage.
My daughter and I are thriving and happier than ever. I've never loved anything more than her. We are making up for lost time with nothing but love and positivity.
For all of those who are fighting for their children, assistance and sanity- I wish you all of the luck in the world and I can only hope that your journey is easier than what mine was.
I have not even done a thing wrong ever in my life I smoke a little weed and drink socially when my kids have a sitter at home. even the claims they make before investigating is false. they create social gapes by picking on the good people and not going after people who actually shouldn't have their kids. Because I did in home care and quit do to me reporting to state on how they treated the clients I took care of with disabilities they still have me in the care tracking system witch is a paperless tracking system I was trained on. And for someone to call in and lie on me to children services I have been labeled as crazy and they tried to ward me to the state through probate court. this is how they use there grant money they just received to keep good people like me silenced. but I go to ohio media school and I trained nursing students at UC health. Someone once told me a long time ago when I first came into health care to always protect yourself.
Not very happy right now, im a single mother with a special needs child who is on SSI and disabled , a patient through Cincinati Childrens Hospital who has a closed head injury, OCD, form of autism, food sensory texture issues and still have no benefits added to our food card, im upset the case worker spoke down to me and made me feel belittled, my daughter is home schooled and still talked to like I am beneath someone
Every time I have called over to their office, the first time (every time) I get hung up on. Then there have been several times that I have talked to people and they have been very rude and inconsiderate. I get that working with low income families may not be exactly desirable in career choices but not everyone is trying to get over on the system and if i'm kind and respectful then it is only fair that the same treatment be given. Also, hanging up on people in need of assistance after waiting over 40 minutes to get to a live person is incredibly unprofessional and rude. Please work on your customer service training.
Received a letter in early November indicating that a verification form needed to be completed and returned by November 30, 2018. I completed the form, with all requested information prior to the due date. On December 15, 2018 I received a letter indicating that my Medicaid would not be renewed because I either 1) did not return the form or 2) did not send the requested forms. I called that day and wanted to know what was going on. I was on hold for almost 2 hours. When I finally spoke with someone, they said that they did have my forms and documents and they were just behind. I said I needed to verify that I would be covered on January 1st and would be receiving my insurance card soon. I was told I was good to go. For the last week I have reviewed my case online. Each day my case had shown that my insurance has been discontinued. I called them back today. I was on hold for almost 2 hours, again. The person I spoke with verified they have all of my information, but they are very backed up on their review. I asked if I would have coverage on January 1st. The answer, probably not . I said that I have prescriptions that I have to take or I ll die. I have doctor appointments that I have to go to in January. He says I could probably check with some other organizations that might be able to help with some prescription assistance. I info on what those other organizations might be. #OhioSucks #OhioJobandFamilyServicesFail
New to Cincinnati. Coming from Warren. They've lost my documents over three times within 2 months. I paid to express mail and fax my papers to double ensure they received them. They "didn't" get them. But I only found out bc i went to check my mail one last tingme at my previous address and lo and behold they're was a paper from Hamilton county informing me I was going to be cut off my assistance bc they didn't receive the required documents. So I had to rush and get new ones, go back to landlord, employer and collect my bills and go down in person. Two weeks later (a week before the 1st of the month)I get a letter with an employment verification form studying it must be filed out and turned in before the first or i lose all services. Tell me why, when I came in in person 2weeks prior to sort everything out, and was told everything is good and I will be ok next month, do I now a paper that 1- I've already turned into them (transferred by my previous county in fact) and 2-wait until the last week of the month to mail it to me. I've contacted my employer which is a privately owned business with one GM. He is in the hospital for artery blockage. Tell me HOW it is professionally legit to have alegal document signed and turned in within a week let alone under the circumstances. I work and pay taxes and Care for my family on my own so i depend on my food stamps and insurance. Youngest child has health requirements and goes to special school that my insurance pays for. I'm worried iwill lose my benefits and my child weill not be able to attend school and i will lose my job as a result. Some peyote are good people that need public assistance and don't deserve to be treated this way. It's a cause and effect, please realize that by being negligent and "losing" or " not receiving" documents that WERE turned in and mailing cut off notices to old addresses ( to ensure the family doesn't receive it and thus is cut off from everything) is malicious and cruel. The system makes you wait months to reapply. Within that time i would lose my job and bills would go unpaid. It's very frustrating I'm coming from another county and never have experience such negligence in the government. Please I hope a lawyer sees these reviews because i believe there is a class action law suit.

I have been waiting for 5 months now to get health insurance for my daughter. This place makes no sense to me. Where is the help? And they don t let you know when they need more documentations from you,have to figure that out on your own.
I'm only putting a one star rating on here because it's not possible to provide one any lower than that. My family and I were fed misinformation from the workers of our custody case and weren't very helpful until we had to get third parties involved.
They lose my paperwork every single time a have to resubmit. The people on the phone are rude and will say anything just to get you off the phone. I have sent my paperwork certified mail and still recieved a letter saying the never got it. Apparently a Moira Weir runs this mess of a gov't agency.
The service is horrible the CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS are utterly rude when you ask a question for more information and they deny people who rightfully need help.
Case workers are rude, unprofessional, and careless they sent information to wrong address intentionally so it could seem as I never responded to anything just so they could cut benefits off, don't try to help you with anything
