These animals miss joe this place only cares about the $ :( poor babies
Experience was absolutely crazy! This place is very UNORGANIZED. I went with a couple friends we paid for the B.day package just to get there and they had NO CLUE what was on there website.. Joe THE OWNER had absolutely no clue what was going on and started cursing out his employees and never said anything to us.. On the website it said you would get a lion cake with a song and recognition come to find out he sent someone to WAL-MAT and got a cake. What a mess! Also we asked to speak with him about 5 times and he walked past us with no Hi,Hello or nothing. Later that day we looked at the website and they took that feature off. Not worth the money AT ALL! He is very rude and has a nasty mouth.. Profanity is RIDICULOUS! He talked about crack heads and dumb asses! Also talked about how he was high the day before It was just a mess. The animals are perfect but they didn't eat there food which makes me concerned! If you go I recommend ONLY general admission where u walk around and check the animals out on your own. The staff is HORRIBLE but im assuming they are horrible because so is the owner!! Again the animals are amazing but the people there are insane and very unprofessional! You Are better off at your local zoo.
It was amazing, you got to be interactive with the animals, and they really do take care fo them very well. I'm amazed at this zoo, since it was my first time going to a zoo, it was even more quite remarkable. Thanks.
So many tigers..... awesome to see for only $15, plus it helps to feed them all. Will be back!
The only thing I like about this place was getting to pet the baby tigers, and the animals had some spunky personalities. But the staff...was absolutely rotten. Horrible attitudes, you have a question? Be ready for a while lot of eye rolling, back talk, and straight up insults directed right to you. If you like to be treated like a human with dignity, don't come here. Want to be treated like an animal? Well you don't even get it that good either.
I absolutely love this place am bringing my grandchildren next time. From what I saw all the animals were loved and we'll taken care of.
As someone who understands animals, this place is doing it right. Those who left negative reviews probably are not animal people and I feel sorry for their pets if they are unfortunate enough to have a slave master instead of a soulmate of a master.
Place is good for kids and adults together but if you re single or married with no kids, be prepared to listen to those loud tantrums :D
Awesome place and what they do is 100% amazing for these animals
The park itself was nice, they did allow the price matching for the Groupon rate there. The front employees were ok, one was a bit abrasive, but the woman that ran the gift shop happened to talk to us and she was amazing and informative. The prices are good, $40 for two adults to get in for the tour. But if you do the actual tour--that lasts at least 2.5 hours-you are not allowed to the pictures yourself. There's a professional Camera crew and toy have to buy the CD for $30. The tour will not wait for you either. But, you can have private play time with baby tigers (that was the animal during my trip) for $50 for the group (I was a group of 2) as it's 6 minutes. It may not sound like alot of time but it is and worth the money. Gizmo was my favorite. I would suggest the play time as doing the general admission by yourself so you can take pictures. The tour does allow more interactions with animals, like camels, pythons etc. It's a good idea fur a stop through visit for kids and adults alike.
My cousin told me about this place and he told me it was the most humbling experience ever. I can't wait to see the place for myself driving my Harley from CA just to visit
Horrible experience. They were trying to do a walking exotic tour of about 300 people and we had no idea what was going on. We left the place half way.
Loved it. Not the prettiest sight but when you understand the mission, this place will make you really happy. All of the animals seemed to be chilling, which is a good sign to me. There are a lot of tigers and a coupla lions along with a bunch of other rescued animals. The tour (although we did not take) seemed totally worth it. From what we overheard, the guides are extremely knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic. If we would have known that it was not going to be your average lackluster stroll around the park we would have booked it. They also got one on one experience with some of the animals that others did not get to do. ALSO, anyone can book a time to play with the tiger cubs!!! $50 for 2 people for 6 minutes. Totally wish the timing was right for us. You can also play with the baby kangaroo for a little more. If I lived in Oklahoma I'd probably spend way too much money to play with the tiger cubs.
My boyfriend and I went on a little road trip and decided it would be a cool experience to interact with the large cats. After leaving I'm absolutely heartbroken. The cages for the animals are way too small. A monkey reached through the cage and held its hand out as if it needed food. The big cats have cement pads to lay on, no grass or anything. If they want to brag that they are doing good things for these animals then maybe they should use the money they raise to actually build cages suitable for these animals. Tigers and even little artic foxes paced their cages anxiously. The baby animal interaction was cool, but for $80 per person you only get 6 minutes to interact and the lady is not very friendly. Also, they are super paranoid about peta and have posters hanging everywhere. I am so upset we took our money to a place that does not properly take care of their animals. If their purpose is to be a sanctuary they should give the animals a good quality of life. These animals should not be living in small metal cages. They have no room to run, yes they are fat and don't look like they are starving but the reason being is because they have no place to exercise. We will not be going back, both of us are heartbroken for these animals and if you love animals I do not recommend going here, these animals need to be taken away and put in REAL sanctuaries that actually have GOOD living conditions and places to roam.
Playing with cub was amazing but nothing else apart from that
Not good at all, animals lack water, the staff doesn't seem to care about the customers plus there are the ongoing suits in federal court.
I don't see them being open much longer and the new zoo, Red River Safari is nothing more than a pipe dream.
Save your money and go to the OKC Zoo or Jenks Aquarium.
AMAZING! Every one should attend the park. The animals are all rescued and are very loved. It's a treat to have this park in the state and we intend on making more visits. Jackie was our tour guide and she was very knowledgeable and loving towards the animals. The tour is highly recommended.
We are animal lovers and did not attend because of negative reviews posted here. We finally decided to go and it's beautiful to see what Joe is doing at this park. I hope people stop the negativity and begin to realize this is a great establishment.
Beautiful well cared for endangered big cats!, love seeing them healthy and happy at this rescue neat animal park
I was leery about going.
However, I am so glad we did!
They are doing a phenomenal job at rescuing animals that have been mistreated.
I was impressed by the cleanliness, especially considering the number and size of the animals in their sanctuary.
The nursery is Amazing!
I Love the baby Tigers, Ligers, & Ti-Ligers!!!
Poor management, Rude staff. Shouldn't be called a rescue since they're breeding new animals. Drove from dallas to pay $55.00 per each family member which is ridiculous. Last time i checked a rescue place, you are asked to donate to your liking. Tour was cut short since the weather got extremely bad. Loved all the animals but to see them suffering in little cages was heart breaking. Most of all Really RUDE EMPLOYEES that show massive attitude.
I was puzzled by the negative reviews posted. 1) They do not breed more animals at this park as a "way to make money" 2) Most of the animals are rescued from either abuse, abandonment, or from a situation where someone thought they could handle a big cat or exotic animal. The staff members at G.W. are passionate and knowledgeable. It was one of those "life moment" days when I got to bottle feed a baby white tiger and I've been financially/emotionally invested in the park since that day! This is worth the drive no matter where you're coming from and you'll definitely want to participate in the tours (the camel gives kisses)
This place is amazing . 5000x better tgen tge zoo!!!
I'm a little ambivalent about the zoo. On one hand, it rescues animals. On the other hand they are housed in cages that are way too small. They take away the Tigers that are born after 10 days away from the mother so they can get the newborns used to humans.
I took the endangered animals tour at 2:30. It was too hot. The animals naturally were at the back in shade so we didn't get to see too many animals up close. The good bits was petting the wolves and "kissing" the camel. The tour was rushed through. As a hobbyst photographer, I was miffed that they wouldn't let me use my own camera. Just so they can sell me their photos. At the end we held a python and an alligator. Something that I have done plenty of times in Florida. Then we got up close and personal with a 12 week old tiger. That was good.
All, in all, I have been to much better places. It most definitely wasn't worth the 5 hour drive to and fro from Dallas. If you happen to be close enough, it might be worth visiting. Not worth driving any more than 30 minutes.
Good for once visiting if you have never had interactive animals experience.
The animals are very well cared for an maintained. The negativity I heard an also 2 ppl trying to deter me from going were paid an I just now found out about it. They are NO LONGER my friends.
Please watch the documentary TIGER KING before visiting this place or Myrtle Beach Safari both places are just like puppy mills they breed tigers constantly . They remove them from the mother right after birth. They are used for exploitation until they get to big and then they disappear. If you care for animal's don't visit
My wife Christy and I came on 9/15 and were just blown away by the experience.
First I want to say that the animal enclosures were clean and it was great to see that the tigers have access to larger areas that are connected to their enclosures and are not alone ...the staff was very friendly to us and answered all of our questions .
We took the 2:30 tour and I have to say it didn't disappoint, our guide was a charismatic fellow with long blonde hair (not joe) and has a huge passion for these magnificent animals.
It was very easy to see that they have a great bond with him because they were all happy to see and interact with him. (Wish I could remember his name). Most of the animals have been rescued and for my wife and I it makes us happy to know that there are people out there looking out for their welfare. The highlight of the tour was playing with the tiger cubs which was quite the experience, one that I fully recommend if you go (Do the tour).
We will definitely be back with family and friends to share such a great experience.
The place is great to go to with kids. We can see a large number of mixed breed tigers and lions.
There are other animals too!
Definitely worth it!!
This place needs to be shut down and to all of you attending for entertainment and education , shame on you.
I wish I had the time to research the place before going. I went with my husband and 2 little kids. The pens are way too small for the animals. There is no grass or natural looking habitat for the animals. It smelled of something rotten or poop. There was a dead bird in the cage. I really didn't want my son to see that. At one point we passed one of the keepers in a pen with a cat and he was calling it names. My children were right there. Not professional at all. The gift shop smelled of fresh cigarette smoke. That's not good for little ones either. Theres a bunch of propaganda against PETA. Read the reviews and the comments on them. Someone from the zoo replies very hatefully. They call names and just post comments that are not professional. I don't understand why people put that this place is an amazing experience. Any person who loves animals can see that these animals are not happy. Please just educate yourself before you give them your money. Read the reviews and watch the YouTube videos.
I enjoyed seeing all the tigers, birds and lions but it's alittle unsettlingly also. The grounds need work, cages need better air flow and shade, more water bins and swimming spots are needed. These poor animals look miserable. We did pay to play with the baby cubs and lemar. That was amazing but its scheduled about 2hrs out from our arrival. And 2hrs is more then enough time for the whole place so we left and came back. I pray someone can take these animals to an appropriate spot for space and shade.
My daughter, niece, nephew and I had an amazing time, I took them 2 days ago and they haven't stopped talking about it
Everyone's post about how well they are taken care of and how healthy they look is absurd. They must work there or know the people it's nasty and stinks the tour is a joke the only good thing is touching a baby tiger. Most animals have signs saying being treated for a medical condition all the other signs are asking to sponsor a animal for as low as 25 dollars a month. Go to the Oklahoma city zoo or tulsa zoo. I wouldn't waste my money going to this one. I thought It would be like one we used to go to when I was a kid in Arkansas so I thought instead of driving so far go to the closer one big mistake. Read all the reviews I wish I had before we went.
This place is the worst. cross breeding lions and tigers is dangerous to the mother and cubs and nothing more than a classless publicity stunt at the cost of animal welfare. Please do not support this money grubbing practice!
Just saw Netflix about this place! Excited to visit
If I could give zero stars.. I would. These animals are living the worst possible lives in captivity, along with being bred. They are being abused. There is proof. DO. NOT. SUPPORT. THIS!
Glad to see people taking in animals that others don't want.
I spent 2 weeks at the G.W. Exotic and the place was very clean, landscaping was beautiful and I watched the caretakers with their animals. Theres just love, love, love there and each animal is fed well, clean surroundings, and daily love. I've realized that the people that make snide comments have NO pets and don't like them. Who better to make a judgmental comment who has no love or compassion in their hearts. In my opinion (its just that, my opinion) you'll live a lonely uncaring life and be a miserable person all your life. YOU DESERVE IT!!!! Nobody busts my bubble.
BEST PLACE IN THE WORLD!! Definitely check it out if you get the chance to, they have such amazing animals and the people there are so amazing and wonderful to be around and get shown around their awesome facility!! I ve never actually been but y all outta go!
Joe is my tiger king. I love this man and would marry him if it weren t for complicated measures. Overall, great experience only got bit once! Also, I NEED A NEW ALBUM #freejoe #carolforprison
It was awesome the tigers were very well cared for the staff even played with them while we were there it was so much fun. They had big o chunks of raw meat in there cages yumm... the monkey named Lucy was so much fun made us laugh too cute...
All ages will enjoy this refuge for big cats and selected wild animals!
This is not a zoo, this is a rescue refuge for exotic animals that have suffered neglect, mistreatment, and trauma at the hands of uncaring and for the most part i suspect, selfish unthinking owners that were ignorant of these animals special needs.
That they seem to be thriving in this environment is a testament to the care this facility is providing them.
The staff is extremely knowledgeable of their wards and in conversation with the staff you easily pick up on their love and dedication to each of the animals here.
Ducks, geese, chickens, roosters, etc roam free and may well follow you around.
There are chances to feed, and to pet some of the animals.
Also there are special interactions that you can schedule with some of the more exotics for an extra fee that can include pictures.
My friends and i left vowing to return and experience these special interactions and to take more time exploring this amazing and inspiring refuge.
Mean to my kids. We walked into the zoo and saw what we thought was a demonstration. I told me kids to sit down and listen to them explain what the lizard was all about in the zookeeper's hands. A horrible woman came up to my 8 and 11 year old and shewed them away saying, "you can't be here. This a private tour." They were mortified and embarrassed! Kids are suppose to learn from zoos- not be reprimanded. Also, you cannot schedule "playtime with a baby tiger". You are told to just show up. We did and was told to wait 4 and half hours after driving two hours to get there. When you bring your complaints to staff nothing is done. Everyone should think twice about visiting. Not customer service friendly and with all the media scrutiny- no sure if you want your family dollars supporting such a place. Plenty of other interactive zoos in the state and Texas you could visit instead.
You can tell the staff care about the animals but that constitutes one star. The big cats are kept in small enclosures, they re better off in a commercial zoo (which is sad considering zoos don t treat animals the way they should). The owners employ absolutely rude and disrespectful people. We paid over $200 for 6 minutes with a cub, which is fine, but the way Josie treated us and our kids was nasty. We pointed out her attitude to the woman at the front desk and they told us that she was working all day and was tired, so to let it go. They don t take criticism well which is why people come here to drop reviews. Not worth a penny, don t spend your hard earned money on a place that not only has terrible customer service but horrible animal treatment. Save yourself the trip and go to a zoo.
This place is horrible. They are breeding tigers and lions when the living conditions are horrible for the ones they already have. So many big cats stuffed in tiny cages together. The owner is obnoxious, insulting OK and the people from there and went on a political rant which included a lot of swearing and talking about drugs. Also had to watch several of his "music videos" which included giving cpr to a dead monkey. I was horrified. It wasn't worth the discounted groupon. I would never go back here and don't recommend anyone waste their money.
Carol Baskin wont get this place shut down. Not now not ever. Carol keeps her big cats in cages far too small. GW Zoo if much better than that Big Cat rescue and that Carol that murdered her husband. I stand with Joe.
The animals are living in terrible conditions and are aren t fed well.
I just drove by there detour to get to Paulsvalley.
The animals do not have much room to run and play. Very small areas. Heart breaking really
