We were only able to walk through the park, thus this review should be considered with that in mind. There was a generous display of wildlife and the animals were well cared for. The price of admission, while fair according to other forms of entertainment, was a bit high in my estimation and is the basis for the rating given.

I enjoyed this place a lot. Friendly and conservative, I like it. Animals may have been in cages like that while we were around touring for safety reasons or calming reasons I don't knao. But they interacted with every animal and they all looked fat. They have so many acres to roam on when they aren't giving tours to us and most of em spend a lot of time up there. These Tigers will go extinct if they aren't taken care of carefully and bred. So that's a huge purpose of this place also

I came from Texas & stopped here on the way to our final destination & myself & my children were so sad & disappointed at how poor these animals looked I wish we could of saved them all. They literally didn t barely move. We walked the whole park & every river except one was motionless. They were all so skinny, malnourished. Also when we went up on a catwalk like balcony it felt as if it was going to fall to the ground if we made one false move.

If you all who came here had such a negative experience then look into reporting this'ZOO' get all your information correct and you'll need proof to show about the abuse or anything out of the ordinary. I live too far to do anything. Start by finding your resources and then go from there. You really want to save these animals then do something.. Don't sit there and complain about it.

I don't know about this place...they seem to have good intentions but it was also quite uncomfortable as well. the tour guide is a man that was very nice named the Tiger King, but he also spent most of the tour bashing animal rights groups and telling us if we hurt a tiger he would shoot us?

There's way too many tigers here. Most are in a 20x20 cage and I was told they spend their entire lives in these cages. 75% of the cats are overweight. There are wild chickens everywhere and during the tour today a chicken walked too close to a hyena cage and met its maker it was very sad to see. The cages were clean just too small.

The most uncomfortable part is the beginning of the tour with the bleachers and the cage...the cage doesn't have a top so if a tiger wanted to just climb out it very well could in a matter of seconds. They reassured us that they wouldn't but cmon its a wild animal. Upon entering we were offered a $5 box of biscuits to feed the animals...we later saw that not only did these dog biscuits expire in 2010 lol they were EVERYWHERE and likely the main source of food for all the animals.

It's worth a look. Everyone has their own ideas of what cruelty is. There was no joy or fun there, just sad .. very sad looking animals in close quarters and cramped together.

Last but not least, the staff is super friendly, don't get me wrong. but the environment was totally unprofessional with chain smoking and cursing :-/

After seeing a video on a channel where I ve seen real rescues, this was appalling to see (although the man featured claims to have had a relative train cats for the cruel circus B&B, so not surprised he doesn t understand the cruelty in this place). Enclosures are far too small for the animals with little enrichment and it appears they re breeding these poor animals at an alarming rate (I assume much inbreeding is occurring- which leads to health issues)... including hybrids which are generally riddled with health issues. I don t believe this place is a real rescue (no real rescue would breed the animals nor create hybrids). Would be good to see these animals go to real rescues and have richer lives- unfortunately with them bottle feeding and training them I doubt they would do well in the wild, but could be possible given the story of Christian the lion who went from captivity to wild. This place makes my heart weep for these poor animals. I m not surprised when the manager gets attacked by these animals when he goes in given their confined lives- like locking a human in a cell all day every day and expecting them not to go crazy- they do- heck even the uber hard criminals get an hour of yard time to keep from going crazy... just so sad to see this abuse occurring and ppl not realizing this is abuse.., please support real rescues and stricter animal laws/pro animal rights laws

We drove over two hours, thinking our girls and us in general would have a good time. But we definitely regretted the drive and ever wasting our money in this place. They're staff in the front desk was very rude and not helpful at all, you would ask a question and the lady in the front desk would just answer you back with a smart comment like if you were dumb or something. The tigers, lions, and bears were huge but they are kept in a very small cage with no place to run around, poor animals looked very unhappy. The pizza place was not good at all, we order a cheese pizza and the cheese was not even melted, and not hot at all as if the pizza was not cooked long enough. The two hour tour was okay,
but overall we will not be coming back to this place!!

Tigers, ligers, and much more. Worth the money without a doubt. While some people are a little turned off by the employees customer service, they have to keep in mind that these employees are risking their lives every single day when they work with these animals. They are not there to act like Disney cast members, they're there to make sure we see coolest animals we possibly can while staying the safest there we can. Nicest place these animals can live besides the wild, although I am sure the food they get here is much better than they would find in the jungle

We had a one on one tour and it was AMAZING. Unforgettable experience feeding, petting and being closer to these beautiful. well cared for animals than I could ever have imagined. It was easily a bucket list item for me to be able to be licked by a mountain lion, play with baby lions/liger and touch a full grown tiger!

If you listen to the stories, a lot of these animals were seized and would have been euthanized if not taken in some cases. And of course they need money, how else would they pay to feed and house these majestic creatures?

Joe Exotic and our AWESOME tour guide, Eric, were nothing but awesome during our time there and I HIGHLY recommend this place and recommend the one on one tours to get even more up close!!

We have never been this close to these kinds of animals! They offered our county residents FREE admission this weekend too. The park was clean and did not smell like poo which most zoos do. The animals seemed healthy and fed well. We got to see them eat. They are trying raise funds for more land to get larger animal habitats. They need it! Most of these animals are rescues. So it is here or the needle. We will go back to do an encounter with the young cubs. It was a good day. It is pricey to get in regularly, but worth it.

This is a terrible place for the animals, the animals was clearly stressed, pacing back and forth in theire cages
Joe exotic said that if his place is coming to and end, he will euthanize his 1400 animals himselve instead of give them away to any nationalparks, because he bought them with his own money, then its his property to do so to, I'm in charge here, he said.

Since my 3 yrs old always watches animals on youtube , we thought of giving him a live exposure and this was the place we decided to go. This is not a conventional zoo or a sentry but a place for rescued big cats. From out side it does not look impressive at all but when you enter this area where cats are kept , you get amazed. I believe they have abt 80 to 90 tigers and lions. Then there are cubs and you can play with some cub whcih are 2/3 weeks old and few which are more in age are kept in cages. This place gives you a different experience altogether. Worth one time visit for sure. Great job done by the team takibg care of these cats...

We have visited the zoo yesterday. The facility was okay but the male receptionist did not explain the ticket features clearly. He was too fast in conversation and when we asked to repeat, he did not explain it slowly.

Complete wastage of money

One of the worst experience on customer service. They don t even welcome you with a smiling face or a hello. We took the cub play time with our tickets. The lady who was there to guide us with the cubs was very rude. She should understand that it is a first time experience and not all of us are a professional like her being around those cubs and we might act according to our reflex while playing with them. She was like if you don t listen to what i say i will reduce your playtime. I just paid $50 for that and you tell us you can kick us out. Why not concentrate on handling the cubs in a better way. Never returning again.

Booked an event a month in advance for a birthday party.
Called to make a final confirmation before loading up, 3 hours before scheduled arrival. The first line was unattended. Found an older number on another site and the staffer informed me, "the guy had to go somewhere." and my scheduled event was canceled with no notice to me.
Got my money back, but birthday surprise ruined.
This place is unprofessional.

I shouldn't have gone here in the first place. I feel really sorry for the animals. The staff's were the worst. very rude and not at all patient.

Please guys don't buy anything edible in that shop and if you do please check the expiry date. I bought a chewing gum and it's expiry date was two years back and the staff had to say that he had nothing to do with that. Please guys be careful. They have to make more and more space for the animals , this is not how they are supposed to live. I feel terribly sorry for these large cats.

And the photographs were the worst for $30.

Fairly nice overall. The workers seem to care for the animals and most of them seem happy and healthy. My biggest problem was with the bird enclosure, which was small and outside and had upwards of 30 pigeons and parrots. The pigeons seemed happy (though out of all their food and water dishes, only a few were full, and even less we re clean) but the sun conures and green cheeked conures were obviously dehydrated and way overheated. They were plucking their feathers and could barely keep their heads up. Horribly sad to see as a bird lover.

I thought this place was awesome. Its a once in a lifetime chance to get this close to tigers, or to even feed them. Joe is a little odd, but he does seem to care about the animals. If you are driving near this interstate it is worth taking an hour out of your day just to get this close.

We waited an hour and a half for the woman to give us our tour. She was extremely rude. Five minutes in she slammed the door in our face. She was so uninterested and wouldn't let us talk or ask questions. We were over it after 10mins and ready to ask for our money back.

It's just so sad to see all them wild animals all trapped inside of these small fences with nothing to do and nobody to play with. Not to mention several of them are on all concrete slabs. Not grass and dirt like they should be. It's really sad.

It was a nice overall experience. You're going to have the opportunity to get darn close to some big cats! The animals all seem to be well cared for. If you pay an additional fee you can even hang out with a baby tiger! I'd say you'd get at least an hour and half worth of fun out the place.

I have been coming here for 10 years. This place has gone down hill in the most inhumane way I didn't think was possible. You should be ashamed. More than half the animals are gone and the ones that are there are sick malnurished a rotting. Sick and I will be reporting you. This place needs to be shut down.

This is the greatest example of not judging a book by its cover. I m guilty of assuming the place seemed sketchy and run down when we first pulled up, but wow! We were blown away by this place. The endangered tour is well worth the money and the tour guides were outstanding! The knowledge and care they have for these animals were so evident. We were so impressed with the entire thing. And never did I think I d say I kissed a camel or played with baby tigers!! I highly, highly recommend this tour for anyone at any age. It is truly a gem.

ok I when you first walk in all u smell is poop and smells like bomb went of so we were waiting like 10 mins just to get are passes then we were walking in and they were very pushy about everything so first the guy "Eric" was talking about himself the WHOLE time then like a minute later me and friends got sprayed with pee and the guy "Eric" was like you should've saw that coming then we went to the "EXOTIC miniature horses" and they were giving us a dirty look after cause we didn't get the snacks that had flies over it we said no thank you and then we went to the camels you had to put there food in your mouth and feed it like that we asked politely if we didn't have to he goes " FINE DONT FEED IT" and we said can we feed it with are hands he goes "NO IT WILL BREAK YOUR FINGER NOW GO!" And then "Eric" would not stop cussing and after the snakes we saw the wolf dog they let us pet it once then they said go then we saw these poor deer looked like they have not been fed in years I feel really bad for all the animals they didn't even show us half the park so we had explored it our selves so please don't come here.

We had a horrible time, drove 150 miles to get there, paid 110 at the gate for 2 adults and 2 children. The staff was rude, and talked down to us, treated us like idiots, and talked down to us. Our children left the zoo crying! Wasted trip! Wasted money!! Baware!

When you visit, you have a unique opportunity to see and interact with lions, tigers, and bears (oh my!) as safety allows. Visitors help fund the rescue mission of the "zoo" and learn more about these great creatures. Definitely take the guided tour.. it is excellent.

The grounds appear well maintained and the staff seems to care about the animals.

I don't consider this a zoo, in the modern sense, but more of a rescue shelter for exotic animals. Most of the animals were removed from or donated by people who could no longer care for them. They had very few (if any) other places to go.

The animals (mostly large cats, but also bears, alligators, and others) are stored in cages/pens and don't have large natural looking enclosures. I understand the criticism by others about the size of the pens. While it would be great for them to have hundreds of acres to roam, but containment and control of these dangerous creatures would be impossible on a shoestring budget.

GWZOO staff also said they do breeding and exchanges with other zoos to try and improve genetic diversity. I believe them when they say they do these things for the benefit of the animals and species.

It was mentioned on the tour that PETA and other groups report the animals are stressed and should not be caged. I do see some pacing by the animals, but I'm not sure if that is stress or not. Since this is a shelter of last resort, the alternative is death. The animals that were interacted with did seem happy and playful.

In summery, The GWZOO is a great place to visit and enjoy a unique experience interacting with animals you normally don't get to see. Your visit supports their primary rescue mission. Keep that mission in mind and you'll get the full experience!

Today my heart was broken by the treatment of these animals. Dont go here. I love zoos But this was an active abuse center. joe is just a power money hungry person looking to make money. These enclosers were smaller than my bedroom. The animals looked sad. Many were hurt, thin, lonely, and depressed. Dont go here. Do your research. Look up gw exotic animal abuse on google and see for yourself.
