This the worst service I experienced in my whole life , waiting on the phone everyday for hours and nobody ever answers the phone , specially since we can't work because of government shutdown they should be able to comply with this essential service so we can at least feed our children.

I have had a lot of dealing with Employment Services through there Empowerment Programs and other aspects of the agency. The questions that I have are for the government and there part in this facade that is supposed to be here to help the residents of this city. My question is for the government what happened to the funding for residents in DC that need help with employment and recruiting for jobs? We need this type of advocating desperately here because there are a host of transitional age youth and people that are coming home from incarceration that need some kind of hope whether its in the form of programs ,or employment opportunities.

Don't bother calling. After 10 minutes of going through an automated menu it will finally give you the option "#9" to speak with a customer service representative..... Only to then here "Our hours of service are 8:30am... Monday through Friday.. then it will hang up on you. The problem? I tried calling them multiple times DURING THE HOURS STATED! This place is a joke and probably filled with nepotism

I understand wait times are mad long. But, if you know the call volume is higher than normal, I would assume that by now, someone would of figured out a way to make the process a little faster. In all of DC why are there only 50 people available to resolve issues with peoples claims. I'm at like 10 weeks and every week I ask every last person I speak to, is there anything else that I need to turn in or do, to make the process faster or smoother? And every week I'm told something different or given a new pie e of information about my claim. Come on now, how is that even fair? Get it together. Idk how noone has come up with a way to make the process smoother by now.

If I could give you guys a zero I would. I have been trying to fix the mistake of my unemployment since April. I was told May 7 it was finally done. Well another month later apparently the problem was not fixed. I am still waiting for my money two months later.

The office is not even attempting to accept any calls regarding unemployment. I've sent numerous emails regarding my case as well and have received no reply in 2 months. There is an absolute lack of effort and non-existent customer service at this time.

It's been more than a month since I was let go from my job due to COVID 19. After filing unemployment claims online, calling, emailing, spending hours on hold only to be sent to an automated voicemail that says "all lines are busy, please call back later" and immediately ends the call, I have not been able to talk to one real person about receiving funds that I am deserved, that I pay taxes for, and that I need to continue to pay rent. I'm really not sure what else to do, as I hear they still aren't open to visit. This city's government is a true shame.

I would like to talk to an actual customer service agent instead of an automated phone regarding access to my unemployment. Is there a way I can get access to my recent pay stubs from the unemployment office and not just receive it by mail?

Wednesday, May 13, 2020. 10 am.

This office has designated itself as open. Drove 30 minutes to bring a friend who has had 2 negative experiences with 2 different unemployment agents on the phone. Since they show their hours as open we made the 30 minute drive only to discover they are in fact - closed. Very disappointed. Information can easily be updated online but no one thought it important enough. Our tax dollars at "work."

I apply for unemployment for weeks now. Still haven't got paid, after I file my claims each week online. If there was a issue in my claim, I would of gotten a message in my inbox. I try emailing them no respond. I called them several times was put on hold. Ridiculous.

The employees are unhelpful, very rude, with nasty attitude , lazy, unprofessional, thug men and ghetto women. They are supposed to help people to get a job or training but they don't do nothing!!! Most of them needs to be fired and the mayor need to restructure this agency. Oh nevermind the mayor is lazy and ghetto herself, they are the reflection of her administration. 0 star

Poor Service and Unprofessional !!! These people get paid to do absolutely nothing . I ve never experienced a office where the phone lines go unanswered all day. It s impossible to obtain assistance online and when I went to the office I was told to call I could not be seen in person !! I called again and was put on hold for over an hour and my call was dropped again when it got close to closing time for the office after I waited on hold for almost an hour and a half !!

The people at the DOES office are nice and do seem interested in helping you as much as they can. The problem is trying to get ahold of someone. Don't bother with emails, even directly to someone at the office as they seem to go into a black hole. Phone is really the only way to get things done, but then be prepared to go through 5 minutes of phone tree recordings before you are finally in the hold queue. Of course, then it's about another 5-10 minutes before someone picks up.

Just got off the phone after on hold for over 40 minutes with the rudest person. They did not provide their name for obvious reasons. The last thing I needed was to have a rude customer experience after dealing with an issue for weeks now. Don t waste your time calling these people. They make you wait on hold and try to patronize you. Instead of helping me at all the rep chose to try to tell me all of the reasons why I wouldn t qualify and to not waste my time even though she was doing exactly that.

I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt but there is simply no reason why DC residents should wait on the phone for over an hour to be given incorrect information. The front line staff need to be retrained to ensure the information they provide is accurate and up to date. The SYEP process should include electronic submission of documentation.

5 weeks no pay. When i call every person gives me different information. The first claim was filed wrong and denied because when I told them I only worked in dc part of the year the person on the phone never asked for info about my other job and now I am trying to fix the issue with no luck. First person told me mis information. Second person said someone will call me no one did. Third person was like you should have filled this form out after you were denied. I filled form out. Fourth and fifth person said I am still not eligible someone will call me and they will let them know I filled the form out. No one answers my emails. When I call they say someone will call me back no one does.

The website, phone numbers, etc. are EXTREMELY unhelpful. I have tried getting in touch with an actual human being through email, and every number I can find and have yet to talk to a human. The automated voice system hangs up on you when you do finally get to where you MIGHT be able to talk to a person. It's as though they don't want anyone filing claims...

I applied for unemployment in April. I have been waiting for WEEKS to receive payment. I decided to call and NO ONE ANSWERS. In fact, I never got to speak to a person. The machine picks up just to tell you All line are busy. Call back later and then hangs up on. By the way, you ll be lucky to even get to hear his voice. This is one of the worst time to let unprofessionalism ensue. Extremely disappointed but not shocked

Filed my claim in June, called repeatedly. I've stayed on hold for up to 3hrs 54 min. I was told on 8/03 my issue was cleared & find would be released the following Wednesday. Didn't happen. I get conflicting responses. I have gotten a few reps that are professional & teach out to supervisors such as Ms.Robinson did today. I'm trying to stay positive but this is a stressful & exhausting process
It's been 8 weeks.

After 5 hours and 20 minutes being on hold, I was hung up on. In addition to these absolutely ludicrous wait times, I have spoken to three different reps in the past, ALL of which gave conflicting information as to what my process should be (live in DC, work in VA). I have no idea where my claim is because of this, and without being able to contact anyone I doubt my claim is going anywhere.

Very tough to get unemployment but you have to be consistent. Call between 8:30am-9:30am
or 4- until close. I sat on the phone for 2 hours keeping the headphones in my ear while simultaneously doin something else eventually they picked up! Might be a long wait but hanging up is more detrimental than the long wait!

The rep that answered my call today (after being on hold for more than 2 hours) told me I was being combative for asking a question & hung up. Calls are recorded, I wasn't being combative. Interesting language, especially now. If she can't/doesn't want to do her job she shouldn't have it & be the one calling to see what's ugoing on with her benefits.

I don't even want to give them a star. Their customer service inside the building is good, however over the phone their service is very poor. Mr. Murphy is extremely rude and doesn't return calls. Mr. Johnson however is very helpful. It's been over a month since they took my money from my taxes, and they wasn't supposed to now it's taking forever to get my money back.

HIS LAZY JACKASS HAS GIVEN MY MOTHER THE COMPLETE RUN AROUND .. I TOLD MY MOTHER TO REPORT THEM TOVTJE MAYOR OFFICE .. it does not take over a month to pay a claim if your doing your job.. he has messed up her case and then dismissed himself from it then his supervisor ought to to fired for allowing his lazy ass to continue not producing any work .. he has falsified information that caused my mother claim to not be paid and then overload her with calls blowing smoke her way about how they are going to fix it .. my mother worked for 42 years and this piss poor quality of customer service is ridiculous.. I must say, after dealing with DC government over the years, it was a very pleasant surprise. Thing are getting better. I hope this new attitude can continue with all DC employees.. Thumbs up!

I employed a nanny in DC for two years, I've now been trying to close my account with DOES for three and a half years due to their incompetence. They failed to correctly process payments and reports from SurePayroll, then it took them a year to correct their online system, then they closed my account so stop fees from piling up, but now they have returned my payment because my account is closed, despite confirming for me twice I should submit payment by check. Well, that check was just mailed back to me. I will never open a business, or employ anyone in the District of Columbia again.

I have ran payroll in nearly every state in the US and I've NEVER had so much trouble in dealing with a unemployment office. The website is a joke, representatives get fired or quit before you can get anything accomplished. It literally took over 9 months to get them to resolve the multiple errors that they caused in the short 6 months that I ran a DC payroll. I will never run another DC payroll or use DOES ever again. Shame! Shame! Shame!

They disqualify you for benefits to protect the trust, If you are fired and it wasn t for gross they will still disqualify and require you to appeal. And I say please appeal!!! Only if you did not do gross misconduct . They will purposely mail your determination and appeal forms late so that you will not have the proper time to appeal. Very untrustworthy and sneaky individuals. I won my appeal and will receive all benefits thanks to OAH. I had to physically go up to DOES and call numerous times to get my paper work to file appeal. Be active and you will reap the rewards !! Claim examiner Rachel is a petty sneaky individual that uses any excuse to deny benefits, but by the grace of God it was reversed for me after my appeal case
