This place has an interesting history and there are surprisingly extensive exhibits inside for a hotel. The place is constructed with huge rough hewn trees and is very impressive. A great pit stop for lodging, restrooms, gifts and some education.

Rustic and historic hotel with lots of amenities and activities. The restuarant and lounge were comfortable and service was great. Food was excellent. Lots of things to do in the local area and in the hotel lobby where historic presentations and musical performances where regularly scheduled. We did not stay overnight, but met friends who did. The rooms looked comfortable, but no TVs and the bathrooms (while large for early 1900s standards) looked a bit tight by modern hotel standards. While they had some modern amenities such as free wifi the hotel's main charm was that it was a well maintained property with a historic past at a beautiful location.

After reading several poor reviews and having stayed at the Glacier Park Lodge several times, I'm directing these comments to those who haven't stayed there, hoping to help them set expectations. This Lodge is more than 100 years old. The rooms are Spartan, at best. I can't argue with the critics on that point. So don't expect modern accommodations. If that's what you want, there's a nice, modern motel at St. Mary. You stay at the Glacier Park Lodge to immerse yourself in the remarkable history and beauty of this place. It's sandwiched between the Blackfeet Indian Reservation and the Park and a century ago, people came across the Great Plains by rail and stayed at the Lodge before riding over the mountains on horseback. That was long before Going-to-the-Sun Road was built. The lobby, with its Douglas fir columns that vault three stories, is just special. You have to see it to fully appreciate it. (Google for photos.) I love sitting around the big fireplace on a chilly evening. There's a "breezeway" to the southern addition that feels like the 1920's. The bar is lively, the beer cold and the service good. I don't know about the restaurant as my wife and I always wander into the little village of East Glacier and eat there. The gift shop is well stocked and the prices are the same as the other shops in the Park. In short, I like this place a lot and look forward to my next stay. It's something like time travel, especially with the Red "Jammer" buses at the curb.

Lovely place with a nice restaurant below. The view is of course spectacular. I would come here just for the view which has mountain range and lake all around. People also come here for animal site seeing like goats, bears, etc.

Lobby was nice. There was a great view and a nice pool. The rooms would need improvement. They were small, old, and smelled weird. The bathroom was tiny. We payed extra for the new part of the hotel. We later found out that the "new" part of the hotel was built only a year after the original hotel was built. So the "new" part was built in 1911 as oppose to 1910. The pictures, exposed piping, and small staircases/hallways really creeped me out. I get it, it's old, so in that case it's not for me. I looked down and saw huge Beatles crawling on me!!! It had come from the bed I was sitting on. Just because it is old doesn't mean they can't clean it. It's safe to say I wouldn't stay here again.

The Glacier Park Lodge is a classic example of the quintessential old-fashioned (in a good way) rustic hotel. I was enchanted with the service, and the very helpful and friendly staff. The food is terrific! A beautiful setting, and a lot to see and do. I highly recommend the Red Bus Tour.

We stayed there 2 nights this week. Lovely grounds, had picnic benches under trees, beautiful flowers. The lobby is spectacular, made with very tall trees! Has a small grocery store for gotta have items. The nice restaurant food could have been better for the price but had nice ambiance. The casual restaurant sandwich was good.....we sat at the bar. Our room was just off of the lobby which was a bit noisy but the room had a box fan that drowned out the noise. It wasn't a problem. Bathroom door didn't close all of the way and the shower was an old-fashioned bathtub with 'surround' curtains. I would stay there again.

Rooms are hopelessly outdated, no TV, fridge, air conditioning, poor to no internet and the bathroom has not been updated since the 40s.
We have slept in cheap motels that have significantly more luxury in the room than this outdated mess.

The building on the outside and the lobby look great, it is still as it was built (more than 100 years ago).
It is nice to see that they want to preserve the past, but they must realize that we are living in 2019 and not in 1919.

What a cool place that took me back to the my childhood in the 90 s. I felt reminiscent of Lloyd Christmas experience, but I wasn t on the hunt for Mary Samsonite. The rooms are comfy with nice mountain air and views from anywhere inside or on the decks that surround the property. The inside is lovely in the lobby. Rooms are rather larger and so are the bathrooms. The shower could be a little larger so Clark Kent could actually clean up in something larger than a phone booth. However, we enjoyed our stay and enjoyed the beauty of the lodge. The beds are a little squeaky so no horseplay in the rooms. PG or otherwise.

My brother and I had the best hotel experience we ever had. Staff was super friendly and we had many great conversations with them. The lodge takes you back in time. We felt like we where back in 1913. I recommended to my friends taking a trip to Glacier soon. Location is amazing for train lovers. Keep up the excellent work! Will be for sure back next summer!

I attended the Lodge for dinner with my parents in early July. Service was prompt and friendly, and the food was excellent. At some point during our dinner, a pianist started playing, adding to the wonderful atmosphere. While I didn't spend any nights at the Lodge, I'd recommend their restaurant in a heartbeat.

We didn't end up staying here but did eat at the restaurant. It was actually really good food and a decent portion after a long day of hiking. There are not a ton of restaurants nearby so it was a good option. The staff was from all over the country/world which was cool to talk with different people. Only downside, their wi-fi sucked and didn't really work.

It sure looks grand, but the walls are paper thin. We could hear every detail of the guy next door getting up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. We talked in a whisper and thank god everyone else did too.

I didn't stay at the lodge, I just had breakfast there. The food was really good and the service was good too. The coffee was outstanding. Benjamin was our server and he was friendly and made good conversation. The lodge itself is an impressive structure. Even if you don't stay there, do yourself a favor and stop in. If not to eat then at least to have a look at it.

Stayed in the main lodge, in a double and twin bed room. Rustic for sure -- no AC, TV, and the bathroom sink is in the bedroom! However the location is great, as is the historic elements of the hotel and convenient restaurant, bar, gift shop and convenience store.

This is an iconic lodge built in 1913. The common areas are great, with a wonderful rustic feel. However, the rooms are badly in need of updating. The electric receptacles are mostly 2 wire, which has been out of code for decades. Bring a 2 wire adapter so your electric things will work. The showers are old and very small, as are the sinks. There are no microwaves or fridges. In summary, the rooms are small and outdated, especially for the money. There is wifi, and it works pretty well. The views of the Glacier NP mountains are breathtaking. I believe the Many Glacier Hotel is newer and more up to date. Stay there if you can get in.

Beautiful original lodge from 1910. Awesome to see the log construction. Beautiful gardens & public places. Lots of friendly, knowledgeable, courteous help. Excellent shops & restaurants. Be advised the guest rooms are not updated. Especially the bathroom fixtures are of the period. Log walls in guest rooms. Always worth visiting for a meal or a drink on the porch. Mountain views are stunning and ever changing.

Setting was very nice. However - room is way way over priced. Bathrooms are motel quality. Walls are paper thin. Beds feel like cardboard. No air conditioning. A campsite in a tent is a more comfortable residence. The outside is nice but it feels like they are paying off the loan for the land and building at these prices.

Very dissatisfied. The staff was very pleasant, but I fear that this very cool building will soon be unusable without updates soon. It seems as if very little care has been put into the place since it opened. Thin walls, small bathrooms, exposed pipes, very little decor, and more. Our mountain view room faced the parking lot, as accommodations were changed sometime between booking and our stay. The bed was very uncomfortable, and there was only one other place to sit in the room. The sad thing is this place could be amazing. It's has an amazing view, and the exterior is nothing short of stellar.

I just don't think the owners care about it. The rooms can be renovated, the exposed pipe could be used to the advantage of the decor, like a lot of modern places, the walls can be fixed. Beds can be replaced. For the price of the rooms, I can't understand how they wouldn't have the money to invest. It's sad to see a place like this in the state that it's in. I promise you one of the "managers" will copy and paste a response here, like the other bad reviews, but they will not actually contact you about your experience. We won't be back, and you should avoid paying to stay here if you can.

Beautiful old building with scenic views. Our room on the third floor was tiny, enough room for two queen beds and a desk. That was how it was built in the early 1900's. Public spaces are great with lots of seating and ways to relax.

We didn't stay in the lodge, but the cafe is EXTREMELY slow. Poor service and mediocre food. Restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived. Food was cold when it arrived after waiting nearly 50 minutes. The fish and chips had mostly breading and very little fish. Food in the National Parks is usually pretty bad. Had a very similar experience at the Grand Canyon.

We had a balcony room at the front of the lodge. Never used the balcony. Did a lot of hiking and boat touring in two days - just had time for dinner and a cocktail by the large back porch, viewing spectacular sunsets. Don't understand no coffee service in room. There are a barriste and store (which is the only one with decaf) open at 6AM and 7AM respectively.
The food at the dining room is plentiful and regional. Try any item with Huckleberries!
Hotel reservations fill up fast! The shuttles do not operate like they used to; so you need to either rent a car - or plan your day activities around the reduced shuttle schedule. Not the fault of the Lodge but I get the feeling that it's corporate owners would rather book you on tours, than let you plan your own. Anyway plan at least 10 months in advance. And don't forget that Amtrak runs the "Empire Builder" to two stops in the park.

A bit disappointing. The beds are hard & uncomfortable. The pillows are small, 12"x12", more like decorative pillows than bed pillows. Even in the "deluxe" rooms the bathrooms are Motel 6-like: very small sinks with no counter; very small shower with a curtain too small to cover the entire opening; low end toiletries that only include shampoo & soap. At these prices a little conditioner & lotion would be nice. The shared balcony didn't work out for my parents as the guests they were "sharing" with kept taking my parents two chairs. They are in their 80's & weren't able to drag the chairs back everytime they wanted to sit down. Rude!! Also note, the main restaurant was pretty bad. Try the lounge.

Nice grounds and public spaces, but the rooms are not great. The rooms have very small bathrooms - a normal size adult can barely move around in the shower - and essentially no sound proofing. Longish drives to the park as well.

I hope you like history because that's all Glacier Park Lodge has to offer. The glory days of GPL are long gone and it's now operated with a level of incompetence that's hard to match. The food and beverage department in particular is a nightmare. Try to get past the fact that their Taste of Montana menu has no real food items from Montana. Everything is overpriced especially considering most of their food comes from FSA and the only thing locally sourced is the occasional side vegetable. The dining room and the kitchen are both run by people too inept and/or inexperienced to actually know how to run a restaurant. Frequent turnover of staff and the generally low morale contribute to a poor experience overall.

The glacier Park Lodge was a nice place to eat lunch. Had we been more observant though we would have noticed that there was a chili cook-off in one of the annexes. Public was invited to sample and grade the chili. Actually we had all the chili we could we could eat. If I had known wouldn't have had to buy lunch. It was fun and the chili cook-off was very tasty. They also had a pastry cook off which was even better can't beat a free meal and great ambiance.

WAY overpriced for what it is. Picture a run-down, dumpy old motel with leaking, cheap, bagain-basement fixtures and noisy rooms, then add some large timbers in the lobby, but charge 10x as much. That's the lodge. Save your money and stay at a cabin in town. Visit the lobby for a bit instead. All the experience, 1/10th the cost, and nicer to boot. Historic? Sure - except broken plastic and moldy vinyl isn't "historic". It's just poorly-maintained junk.
