Stayed with my great grandmother for a few night and had a great time. The internal food options are great to have so that you don't need to travel much. We did have a problem with our room reservation because of an error by Amtrack but they quickly resolved the situation and everything was fine. I would highly recommend if you come to see the national park.
One of the best stays and experiences of my life. What a gem of a place. Just love the nostalgics. Great place to spend time with the family playing cards in the lobby in the evenings and enjoying the huge fireplace. Made some great memories! Loved the room and room's balcony porch. Lovely grounds and scenic backdrop of the Lewis Range. Definitely will be coming back.
Wonderful views and grounds. Great meal and beautiful insides. A great place to stop on your way out from Two Medicine
Well maintained. Lounge worker was very courteous. Loved the gift shop
Room small and facilities miserable (no room to eat in the room, duvets too thin, no fridge), bathroom on the stand of 50 years ago; very expensive, so there should be enough money for the renovation / modernization; impressive was only the building from the outside and the lobby
Attended a half marathon event here. I didn't go inside the building but the property was beautiful. I'd come back.
This is the best lodge in the park. A must see, so much history and beauty.
Stopped here for a bison burger in the lounge. Very pretty building. Good food. Friendly staff
Great place to hang out even if you are not staying there.
Staying in historic Glacier Park Lodge is by far a worthwhile experience for 1 night. I will say that we requested and paid for a room with 2 queen beds and were put on the basement level in a room with small double beds after requesting a main floor room upon making our reservation since we had 2 people in our party with limited mobility. We did have a wonderful bellhop who was so helpful with our luggage. The showers are tiny and can scald you easily and overall the beds are very hard. I think for $300 I expected a little more and I expected the beds to be what I paid for. The lodge is very cool, especially in the lobby and the people were very kind.
My wife and I stayed at this property for three nights this week because of the (Howe Ridge) fire on the west side of the park -- we had originally made reservations at a 4 star property in West Glacier. The property is very unique having been built in 1912 and has alot of interesting history and architecture. Its age also introduces alot of limitations it seems. There is no AC, TVs, small refrigerators, filtered ventilation or even an elevator available to the upper floors. Also, the rooms are spacious but there is very little space (one night stand and a closet) to put your clothes. We effectively lived out of our suitcases the entire three days. All they would need to do is add a double dresser and it would be great. Bathrooms are also pretty small, short on counter space (read as none) and very dated. While the rustic experience is fun at times this was beyond our comfort level and I think would be for many folks over 35 or who are used to more amenities when traveling. The dining was pretty good but a little pricey in our opinion. The overall value we experienced is really not consistent with the price charged. We likely would not return unless in a pinch like this time.
No bell hop available to carry bags up 3 flights of stairs. No elevevator. Registration didn't offer any help for bags. Room hot. A box fan only in room. No AC. Bathroom cracker box size. No place to sit bathroom items in bathroom. Would not recommend!
We met up with some family members and wandered around the place. Very beautiful, would love to visit again.
Everything has been satisfactory so far. Our room is cute and the food is really good.
Service was good, but pork entre was cold. My wife's trout dinner was excellent.
The good the bad and the ugly:
The good: great location for seeing the national park. Staff is really nice and helpful.
The bad: food is subpar and expensive. Rooms are really small, no fridge, no dressers, hardly any plugs, and the cleanliness of the general areas seem subpar.
The ugly: no elevator! If you re disabled or have a kid accessing your room can be impossible. They have loads of stray dogs running around so if you have a little kid that doesn t know better there can be issues.
For the price I wouldn t recommend this place.
It's beautiful. We didn't stay there, but it's worth looking at for the history.
Fabulous lodge. The most beautiful in Glacier national park!
The lodge lawn is a great place to hang out and play. Otherwise everything here is just a little pricey.
We stopped by the lodge on our way into East Glacier. Being a last minute trip we were not able to consider staying there as they book up months in advance in the summer. Entering the huge main lobby of the lodge was like stepping back in time - it was pretty amazing! Unfortunately our timing wasn't right in order to take a tour so we just wandered around on our own in awe of this majestic place that fits in so well and naturally into this extraordinary park. There are plenty of places to sit and relax and enjoy the scenery both inside and out, and there were people of all ages enjoying the lodge. There is a lounge for lunch and drinks including a nice selection of draft beers besides the huge main dining room where a gentleman was playing the piano for diners. There is a gallery collection of old articles, pictures, and information that tells the extremely interesting story of the builder's concept and what it took to realize his dream. displayed on one end of the main lobby. Having said that, we were a bit disappointed in the dinners that we ordered as they were served barely warm and the dining room wasn't even that busy at the time.
