We had a balcony room at the front of the lodge. Never used the balcony. Did a lot of hiking and boat touring in two days - just had time for dinner and a cocktail by the large back porch, viewing spectacular sunsets. Don't understand no coffee service in room. There are a barriste and store (which is the only one with decaf) open at 6AM and 7AM respectively.
The food at the dining room is plentiful and regional. Try any item with Huckleberries!
Hotel reservations fill up fast! The shuttles do not operate like they used to; so you need to either rent a car - or plan your day activities around the reduced shuttle schedule. Not the fault of the Lodge but I get the feeling that it's corporate owners would rather book you on tours, than let you plan your own. Anyway plan at least 10 months in advance. And don't forget that Amtrak runs the "Empire Builder" to two stops in the park.
