Would've been 5 stars but the Canada pavilion was mostly empty and there wasn't adequate warnings to keep you from heading all the way down there for nothing. Aside from that, the Toronto Zoo is an amazing place and a great organization. One of my favourite places to visit. Greatly enjoyed the snow leopard feeding and was pleasantly surprised that one came right up to the viewing glass with her meal; she's clearly very well socialized and not scared of crowds which is nice to see.
I've always had a soft spot for the Toronto Zoo, but I wanted to post a review specifically about their COVID measures. I am heavily immunosuppressed so this is really important for me.
The Toronto Zoo was amazing with implementing social distancing measures. They limited the number of guests and had one way paths to control traffic. Hand sanitizer everywhere. This may have been one of the best visits I've had because it wasn't crowded at all. Part of me wants it to stay this way because it was so pleasant, but I know they need the ticket sales. If you're concerned about going out due to COVID, this is a great option.
Great place to visit. Lots of walking but lots to see. Going in spring or fall is best as there is not as many people
Amazing for kids - great entertainment and shiws. Wonderful splash pad to end the day with! Need a better parking as it takes forever to exit!!!
I'm definitely going to bring my family here! Today I did visit the Toronto Zoo, and I had a great time. Also, I could see how the staff are so committed to giving to the animals good care.
Went to Terra Lumina very nice very beautiful place, alot of amazing lights. This is based on a light show you walk through most part of the zoo. You won't be able to see any animals if you are going to Terra Lumina. At the entrance of this show there is a big circle where people can take photos. The lights and the show gives you a 3D theme show with music and animal sounds, it a walking path way you walk through to the end l, imagine your in an Ikea store but in a light show. The theme is changing of perspective, changing the look for year 2099. Everyone can interact with the light show on the drums. It is an night theme. Entering the parking lot is free when you exit you have to click the touch screen in a small corner for exit pay, and you just pay $8 tap or swip credit card/debit card.
Great show for the price but don't go when it is very cold or dress very warm.
The place is beautiful, really enjoyable but the price is on the high side. Food is barely OK, but visiting is really worth it
The Toronto Zoo always offers a wonderful experience. Even on a cold, dreary day, there are plenty of things to experience indoors. We especially enjoyed the baby river pigs, baby pigmy hippo and baby gorilla.
I loved it alot, i don t like animals in the cage but Toronto zoo is like home for its animals and it gives good feeling.
Favorite place to take the kids in the summer and all year long. We buy a family pass to make the most of it.
A beautiful place filled with lovely beings. Visited recently after living in Toronto for 9 years. An extremely humbling experience.
From the front entrance; to the different paths; the myriad cages with their privileged inhabitants; the Zoomobile; the pet peacock near the restaurant; the beautiful flora; and many other things which slip off memory - all were out of this world.
Definitely would recommend the Toronto Zoo to everyone. Please arrive early at the gates so as not to miss out on the heavenly sights and sounds within.
Wonderful experience, need a whole day or more to walk around... Would highly recommend for families with kids....
I visited zoo in autumn, place wasn t crowd at all, so any lines to see pandas, bears, penguins or any kind of animal. Get ready to walk and take lunch with you (or you can buy food there but only a few things). Toronto Zoo is amazing, you will need at least 4 hours to see most of it (if you have one day, you can use it here).
Great outdoor place to take the kid(s). Friendly staff, and lots to see.
I was disappointed. I've been to other zoos that had better displays with less walking. I expected nicer exhibits and more animals. I wouldnt be back.
A good zoo...cleanliness not upto mark as it was off season. It's better to visit during weekdays rather a weekend as there's a lot of traffic. We loved rhino, giraffe and otter. Good place for kids to learn and enjoy.
If your a family...with children...then this is a good place to visit. Fun for the kids...a learning experience...for the whole family.
Its a real zoo. They give u a map after u enter. Be prepared to do a lot of walking. It was nice and probably. There are snack shops there but they were closed in the fall.
The variety of animals is good, but many of them were either off exhibit or sleeping. Also, I think at least some of those animals like the eagles and the gorillas should really be free and not in a zoo.
Great spot for a visit. I do find that the parking for $10 is a bit of a cash grab, especially when it takes 10 minutes to walk to your car. This zoo is huge; not in terms of animal population, but definitely in terms of area footage. Will take 5-6 hours to see all of it. We bought a year menu for $200, as it is cheaper than visiting twice with our small family. But after parking fees, will be more like $300.
Covid measures were adequate and the people were respectful.
There are a couple of closed places, but, 95% available.
My boyfriend and I went last year during the Summer. It was by far the best zoo we've been to! The animals all were in great condition and had lots of space in their homes. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We were lucky to go through the entire zoo with their assistance.
The zoo is in very good condition. Plenty of amenities other than taking a gander at animals. There are a great variety of animals that are worth going for. I encourage you to bring your own food as it is exceptionally overpriced.
Would definitely visit again!
miss this spot , get blit and check out the animals out here , ya heard
Toronto Zoo is huuuuge! A great way to spend a day with the family or friends. There is so much to see and a great variety of animals and exhibits. The zoo is very organized and everything is easy to locate. There is also endless parking for even the busiest days, along with that you never feel crowded no matter how busy it gets. Highly recommend.
Fun place to be with family. The zoo is well maintained and have adequate measures for social distancing. The staff were friendly.
I'm really impressed with the new winter fall lighting show that they have, it's called Lumina! Incredible
Its beautiful, interesting and educative for sure...but it's too expensive.
For exanple $65 + admission to take part of New Wild Encounter event and it's for 40 min.
But don't fret, kids under the age of one are free.. really?
The drive through was really bad - literally handful of animals to see
Truly had an amazing experience with my loved ones! Came down during Labor Day weekend and the weather was perfect. Managed to catch the feedings of the polar bears and hippos - both were truly a delight. My favourites were probably the polar bears and the raccoons. The otters were adorable too. They loved to show off and do tricks in the water. I really appreciate the volunteers this zoo has. Very friendly and informative and you can certainly tell the staff are passionate and care about their jobs. The only thing semi-critical I have to say is that the Canadian Domain is QUITE steep. Definitely be prepared for a hilly area compared to the rest of the park. That hill is something else! Also, the whole entire Africa area was truly something - we especially enjoyed watching the hyenas get excited, especially near the small children. Another thing - Smoke s Poutinerie ran out of cheese curds? All good though. All in all this zoo is spectacular. Looking forward to coming back with the exact same people, year after year.
Haven't been to Toronto zoo in a very long time. Decide to bring my nephew and niece there, best decision I ever made. Not only they had a blast so did I . Highly recommended .
There are animals here. Some sections are particularly steep like the American section which includes buffalos, bears, and other larger specimens. My advice would be to skip this section if you are with a pushchair, kids or are simply not strong enough.
A very large and extremely well maintained zoo. Large, clean, well kept enclosures housing an impressive collection of species. Animals seem well cared for and content.
Go early, especially on weekends. By mid afternoon the park is too busy to enjoy.
Bring your own food. Prices are high and the food service areas are complete chaos.
If you need to bring a stroller, bring a SMALL one! A lot of the exhibits are indoor and the walkways get tight.
Good place to take your kids. They have planty of animals, kids like there. Although when we came, it was too cold for some of the animals going outdoors. They have some indoor places which is wonderful for small children. Spent all day inside. Advice parent bring enough food and drink as they sell few food. Pizza shop inside takes a....ges to line up.
Visited on a raining day. There were not much animals to see. I did purchase the parking ticket via online before visiting it because the website suggested to do it; however, when I was about to drive car out of Zoo and ready to show online parking ticket, the door was automatically opened by itself without scaning the parking ticket. I saw it also happened to other drivers. What is the point to pay for the parking ticket?
This place is good for children and adults. Very huge and all animals can be seen clearly. I would definatley visit this place. Lot of restaurants to choose from and alot cleaner.
My family and I have enjoyed the Zoo for about 11 years now. We live about half hours drive away and have gotten the last 2 year membership three times in a row. Very good deal, we go about 6-7 times a year and always enjoy our time.
We went to see the Terra Lumina show and some of the projections were really mesmerizing. I would recommend going for it if you have a chance. Although the entire experience isn't worth spending $30 more than once so I wouldn't be revisiting for this event.
Fantastic zoo, very big and spacious. The animal enclosures are very well suited to each animal making it seem more authentic.
It was amazing experience for me but due to winter time some of the section are close otherwise it's very good in architecture and cleaning.
Great zoo. We went on a long weekend so it was busy. Do your research and plan your trip in advance. We arrived at opening and didn't realize there was a splash pad and kid zone. We were so tired we didn't get to enjoy those. We probably would have skipped a few areas.
Terra Lumina was an amazing experience! I would highly recommend for families, couples, or just people who want to do a cool walk on their own!
This is one of our go to places when we visit Toronto. It's a long walking day so pack comfy shoes and lots of water. For those with limited mobility they have scooter rentals as well during the summer there's a "zoo mobile" to cut down on some of the walking. Also consider a season pass if you plan on visiting 2 or more times in 12 months it usually takes for itself.
Toronto zoo is clean, well organized, and their conservation efforts deserve the utmost respect. Top notch place!!
A lot of stuff closed for month of June..... still a very enjoyable day for the family!
Animals were very active when we went. Exhibits full of great information and knowledge on every animal. Always a fun place to visit.
So much fun, a bit pricey but if you have children it is an incredible day to spend the day. Also, it's probably pricey because of how expensive it must be to run a zoo, so it's justified!
Very organic flow, quite inviting and easy to enjoy the animals. Safari tours, One can spend a camping night in the zoo with their children, get an opportunity to feed some animals have prepared meals, too much to mention. Just go and spend the day and take your time. It's also quite educational and eco conscious
its been a few months not I switched from I phone to Samsung, it so cool it keeps a track of all the place I have been and ask's me to write reviews.
I visited the zoo last year with on my kids , had a great time
I was there at the serengeti night camp. 1st time camping in Toronto, awesome experience. I was there with my family 2kids, very friendly ambience. The full moon night camping with the rhino snoring at night was an experience to remember whole life. There was treasure hunt game at 9 PM with kids and parents hunting for kids in protected jungle environment. Would recommend it for parents and kids alike.
I have been a long time zoo visitor, and a long time zoo lover. You will not find a more dedicated and loving group of animal/conservation lovers. It truely is all for the animals, and they do everything they can for them.
This is probably my least favorite zoo I've been to. Although there's a lot of nice exhibits, they didn't make good use of their space, everything is so spaced out. You can walk for 10 to 15 minutes and not see a single animal or even a nice garden area or something other than just a path.
I really admired seeing different kind of live animals for the first time. I will always make my way here when I have the time. Our visit was awesome
Many thanks to the management of the Toronto Zoo
Loved the Toronto zoo for it's cleanliness, helping and very friendly staff and for such good maintenance of animals and nature. Perfect place to spend a day with family and friends.
Awesome zoo. A ton of exhibits to see. Lots of variety in animals and wildlife here. Can spend an entire here going through and reading the different exhibits. Works with the City Pass which makes it really affordable.
Very spacious place and lots of walking room so it does not feel claustrophobic. The washrooms were decently clean too. Bummer that there was a fee for parking.
We purchased a family membership this year and I wasn't sure if I would use it much. Boy was I wrong! Being a Durham Ontario resident, I accessed the zoo quiet often with my daughter. It's fun to hop on the zoo mobile and pick an area to explore. Our favourite is Africa. We loved Boo at the Zoo and the Boomobile. It's nice that they allow outside food. Perfect for a summer picnic and there are plenty of tables to eat at. Can't wait to see it in the winter as I hear the animals are even more active. Buy the parking pass to save money. Really great memories await you.
Very good place, quite affordable, perfect for families, even during covid19. Well done!
Not the same zoo. Due to covid which they dont tell you 75% of their exhibits are closed. You basically are paying to walk around and see not much. They do not advertise this but still charge the full price for only 25% of the service. Save your money until things get back to normal.
The best place to take your children. One day is not sufficient especially if you're planning to enjoy water sports in splash land as well. Absolutely worth every penny.
Part of the City Pass, the zoo was amazing and an all day adventure. However, many of the exhibits were closed, but we were there in early May. I loved how the animals are really and obviously cared for. This is not always the case at zoos. Many different animals from all over the world. Very clean. Be prepared to walk a lot!
Taking Covid seriously- safety measures are imo above what's expected and I love it. They truly care for their animals and guests.
Came here as a kid and went in summer of 2019. A lot has changed from what I remember but was still equally as fun.
We went may 7th, we paid the summer fee although there were still a handful of animals not in their exhibits due to weather which I understand. But it should not be the summer fee in this case. Still enjoyed our time!
Wonderful place. Make sure to bring comfortable shoes if you decide to explore the zoo by foot as it can be very exhausting.
Worst experience ever. Complete waste of money and time. Not a single animal in view, everything was way off. Dont recommend anyone to go there. worst experience. Staff seemed great as they kept waving after every car passed them!
They have lot a lot of all kinds of animals toys. We took them Toronto zoo. They really enjoyed there. Because of Covid-19 there are some changes like you have to buy tickets online and parking ticket as well. Also you have to wear mask even kids have to. Not all the places, only when you enter to see the animals. The staff was very welcoming and helpful.
I went in the summer, and it was an awesome day to walk around and look at the friendly critters. There is A LOT of walking if you want to see every single animal, and I'm surprised that you can see so many in such a short amount of time. A lot of the animals however are very spread apart, especially with the Canadian animals, but this park is pretty nice and well maintained. The gift shop sells pretty decent merchandise for a pretty good price compared to a lot of other gift shops of zoos. Had an awesome time overall!
I m not a big fan of zoos as they keep animals captive, but I visited Toronto zoo and it s good. The animals are kept in good condition and cared for az much as I noticed, so it made me feel better.
It s very big and you need at least a whole day if you are walking fast, so plan which area you want to see first in case you couldn t find the time to visit all areas.
Great park for a walk and visit animals. Zoo has an exhibit of ocean trash made into animals that will shock you on the amount and type of garbage found in our ocean. Bring lots of water on hot days.
Always love a trip to the zoo. Great way to spend a day on the weekend. Make sure to see the lion exhibit. It s worth the trip.
First night ever camping over there and loved every last minute of it, I would do it once a week if I could !
The zoo is so big and adopts a wide variety of animals. Everything is fine and kids are happy. Brilliant place for kids, youths, and adults.
The light show was amazing. Music was fantastic. Could do less with the smokescreen though. With having to wear masks. It gets harder to see and breath.
Great trip to Toronto zoo with lots of impression and intresting moments. Amazing guided tour we have been provided by Zoo volunteer. Very knowledgeable about animals, birds, fishes, insects, reptiles to learn for children who were impressed by art sculptures made of recycling materials. Great idea to focus on birds, sea creatures and animals affected by plastic pollution. That is true educative exhibits about saving our environment.
It's great that the zoo hosts two runs a year. I saw where they've planted hundreds of trees as well.
Nice day at zoo! We saw many animals out and plenty zoo staff to explain some stuff.
A trip to this zoo can still be fun in winter. Check out the pavilions.
One of Toronto's best place , it's extremely big , bring running shoes with you
I really liked going to the Toronto Zoo especially when the pandas were here.
Wonderful zoo. The staff are always lovely and the exhibits are great. Love coming here. It's full of PokeStops and Gyms as well, for those that are in to Pokemon Go.
A substantial property to visit in one day but we managed to see most of it with a lot of walking and a 6 hour effort. Nice place with lots to see.
On the down side they weren't selling there $6.00 ice cream sandwiches on a 30 degree day for some unknown reason.
And their parking setup is the most inept, poorly planned scenario you can imagine that rellies on what looks like harware they bought used 20 years ago.
