Central location, nice hotel friendly staff and nice rooms.

Great location! Parking is pricey and staff not very knowledgeable in Marriott awards (we were given drink and snack coupons at the front desk but no one knew any details and there was a lot of confusion), but otherwise really nice place to stay.

Great location, nice building and good facilities/breakfast.

Great location, very easy to get to and surprisingly modern inside. Will come again.

An excellent hotel located in the best area in Ghent. My room view was amazing and the room was very spacious and comfortable. The staff was friendly. There is a car parking beneath it. My only suggestion to the hotel is to replace and shorten the bathtub curtain.

I have not been to the rooms but it is great to have a drink at the bar in the lower part of the hotel directly opposite the canal, in front of the old buildings of Ghent the glasses at a good price and the very friendly staff.

Lovely setting and rooms are great. Lounge area has been recently refurbished and is a great place to sit and have a drink.

Located in the historic part of the city. This hotel is very popular with tourists.
The atrium lends an open feel in this crowded area.
The well trained staff are friendly and helpful.

This hotel was very neat. Service was excellent and very kind. This hotel is situated in the center of Ghent, which is a really great location! We enjoyed our stay.

Ghent marriot was an amazing hotel full of charm , our room was amazing over looking the river lovely high beamed ceiling and very spacious. Breakfast was very good nice selection of hot and cold foods and pastries Staff at reception were very helpful overall a very pleasant stay and would definitely recommend if staying in ghent

Stunning Breakfast and Location Questionable desk staff service and parking

Magnificent upmarket hotel right on the riverside in the city centre. It was a former brothel back in the days of decadency.
It still is a splendid building. Smart & spotlessly clean.
The staff are multi lingual and very helpful.
The hotel has its own car park under itself & travellers are welcome to park even if they are not staying here for a fee of 3 per hour.

Great service at a top location for visitors to the city of Ghent.

The Marriott Ghent hotel is exceptionally beautiful. The large glass section in the central area is impressive and gives the lobby a sea of light. The play between the antique front and the modern rear of the building is also unique. More than worth a visit.

Location of hotel is superb, just walk out the back to be treated to fantastic views right in the center of the city. Service was great too, no complaints. The room was fine, although some noise from the bar area did creep into the room through the door, but this was a Sat night, and didnt affect my sleep. One complaint I do have is the bedding. Although the sheets and pillowcases were clean, the bed did smell a little of stale sweat. I didn't realise until I got into bed and didn't complain because my young son was already asleep and it was very late. I'm sure we would have been offered a different room by the great staff, but this 4.5 star review had to be knocked down to a 3. Thank goodness the shower was great in the morning!

I would stay here again Location and ambiance were great, rooms were very nice, but what was most outstanding was the staff. From the moment we checked in until we left everyone we dealt with was wonderful. One of the best memories of our trip.

Wonderful location, gracious staff, fabulous breakfast, well appointed rooms! We had a quick get away and Ghent was our destination. We did some research; knew where we wanted to visit and the Ghent Marriott looked like the perfect spot for us to explore from. Thw staff worked hard to make our stay comfortable. Our bartender attentive, the breakfast staff was on top of their game, and the rest of the staff was always making sure our stay was relaxed and enjoyable. If you travel with kids then you know there are always a few minor traveling issues and everything was taken care of well. The location is easy walking distance to Gravensteen,The Belfry, Saint Michael's, and several other historical locations. If you do stay check out Bookz and Booze for a delightful store and knowledgeable store owner. On site parking and restaurant are bonuses if the weather is not cooperative although the locals walk in the wind and rain. Too many restaurants nearby to do justice but our kids homed in on Manhattn's Burgers and OTOMAT . We also found plenty of local dishes that were tres bein!

Well unfortunately I have to give a low rating, see that the hotel is spectacular, the area and the perfect location, the rooms and the service as usual in this type of hotels.
On the other hand, our stay was only one night and knowing that the check-in takes place at 16:00 in the afternoon, we spent the morning to leave luggage on consignment and asked if we could do the registration like this after arriving to eat to be able to access the room, something that the companion who attended us agreed and made it and informed us that only when we arrived would we give our information and provide the room.
Well at 16:15 and already in the shift change, the companion who attends us in the afternoon shift, indicates that we still have to clean the room (in our case a family of 4 seats) indicating that about 16:30, surprise that at 4:30 p.m., he also does not give us the room and makes us long again, here we ask with more insistence and because it is only one night if they could leave us another room so that at least the baby could rest and told us that we had to wait for our room. The wait was until 17:30 in the afternoon and on top we had to do the registration giving all the data, credit card and others ... we are going to have a mess just to make a hotel night.
No doubt an unfortunate fact for a guest regarding the comfort you are looking for in this type of travel.

As compensation they invited us to a cafeteria cafeteria.

Location is great, and that's about it. Our bed linen had a stain. The king bed was two twins put together with each sinking in the middle. Parking was pricey. Overall, feel that this hotel is overpriced.

The location is the best, the room is huge! I will use it again when I go to Ghent.

The hygienic condition of the room is unbelievable in regards to Marriot, hitherto absolutely trustworthy for me. Dirty ground without sweeping in the 2 days I stayed. No surface was sanitized in the bathrooms or in the bedroom. Unfortunate! Twice I asked for the cleaning but nothing was done. The hygiene was restricted to the storage of the bed and the trash! Disappointing because until then Marriot was synonymous with quality for me. I photographed.

Were planning to drink a coup. But the bar was closed.

Went here Christmas eve. They are severely understaffed. Hotel requests not fulfilled by staff at all. Called them multiple times and messaged through Bonvoy app. Almost ruined our Christmas except for the beautiful city redeeming it

Great hotel, restaurant, bar, and even better location (although it can be a little hard to find initially). They only get 4 stars because, out of all the Marriott Hotels I stayed in on this particular trip, they were the only ones that didn't "wow" me with their service, nor make me feel a little special with some perk or someting, and I'm a member and also a travel advisor.

My room with a view of the river was just a tiny bit dated, but that's really the only thing I can complain about. Clean, comfortable, absolutely perfect location for visiting Gent. One outstanding thing about this hotel was the staff. They were extremely friendly and helpful...I don't really ask for recommendations too often but they sent me to a great place to try different beers and it was excellent. The staff also remembered me despite only being there for two nights. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

Weekend stay with a family of 4 went well. Rooms clean. Aroma of air freshener was a bit strong. Breakfast bar was well stocked with an amazing selection of great foods.

Wonderful hotel in the heart of Ghent. Gorgeous river views, absolute best place ever for the annual Geentsefeste, GhentFest. Great breakfast buffet, great lobby bar, surrounded by the best of everything Ghent has to offer.

Nice building and great for having breakfast outside. Centrally situated. Helpful and very friendly staff. Super breakfast with lots of fruit etc. You can choose breakfast between 15 or 20 or 25. We opted for 20. That is all breakfast with fruit but no hot dishes. More than enough.

This hotel could not be better situated to explore Ghent's Old Town/City Center. Modern interior with open and spacious public area that retains the facade of an historic building facing the Leie River promenade. Wonderful breakfast; helpful, courteous staff.

Arrival via auto is a bit tricky but the location of the hotel is outstanding. Rooms are clean and the hotel is well run. Great place to conclude our Euro vacation. Ghent may be under appreciated; the Altar Panels are stunning.

Very good and advisable hotel. If it wasn't for the impeccable staff, though, I would have given 4 stars because the property would need a bit of renovation, especially in the rooms. Exceptional location.

The COVID excuse to not clean the rooms !
We stayed 3 nights, no cleaning and zero service.
Obviously the hotel management are using the excuse of the COVID to not make their job and make small savings !

- Why are they opening the hotel in this case?

- Why customers are not informed in advance?

- How are they managing the cleaning of the rooms between two customers?
I regret because as a BONVOY member I liked to stay in this hotel
