Nicest Marriott I've been to. Perfect location! Even though my girlfriend is from Ghent, we like to visit a hotel here
We had a wonderful two-night stay here in mid-February 2020. Before arriving, my husband alerted the hotel to my allergy to fragrances and they took special care to air out our room and clean it alternate cleaners to assure that it was scent free upon our arrival. We received a room in the "old" original guild house which overlooked the canal and was extra special. It had wood floors and the most magical view of the guild houses, belfry, old post office, churches and bridges nearby. The view felt surreal. Definitely worth the upgrade! Our room was also very spacious. Loved the location as well. It made touring the city super easy. We took the tram to the hotel from the train station (3 euros each), got off at the Korenmarkt stop and then walked about 5 minutes to the hotel. It wasn't the easiest walk with bags due to the cobblestone, but it wasn't hard either. When returning to the train station we chose to take a taxi instead as it was raining. The ride was about 10 minutes and only cost 9 euros. The hotel was nice enough to call the cab for us and it was waiting for us when we down stairs. We walked across the St. Michael's bridge, down the stairs and then along the canal to the canal entrance to the Marriott. The location overall made it very easy to get to all of the main sites of the city. We could also easily stop by the hotel to drop off the chocolate we bought before returning to site seeing. I only have two complaints... (1) the bathroom was small considering the large room. (2) the use of modern furnishings in a richly historic environment. I wish Marriott would have taken a more boutique approach to the decor instead of being corporate and modern. It felt like too much of a contrast for the environment.
A thing is the best views hotel in Ghent/Gand if you have the chance to stay at the honeymoon suite...
Perfect location right in the heart of the city. Surrounded by all of the amazing attractions that Ghent is known for. Great room-size and very clean. Very nicely designed hotel and very friendly staff.
Neat parking garage, despite the fact that it can be a bit tight. Watch out with your tailgate. Friendly welcome at reception. Neat, clean and spacious room. Our party had triple rooms with two Queen beds. With two people in 1 queen-size bed is not desirable because the mattress moves considerably with every movement. Beautifully designed glass atrium that runs to the Korenlei. Building is a pleasure for the eye and is in a fantastic location!
Convenient hotel closed to everything... However : during my checkout I met Heleen(?I think), at the lobby , maybe she is not confident with her English ? She was definitely rude
I needed to take out my card from the room to switch off the light to sleep. Even after consulting the reception. Which means I cannot load up my phone during the night (no electric power). Disgusting.
Great location, beautiful views, and delicious breakfast.
Great location, excellent hotel typical of Marriott, very pleasant staff.
The staff were beyond incredible... So kind and helpful. Paired with the beautiful building, comfortable rooms, and ease of access to all the local sights, it was ideal. I would stay again in a heartbeat.
Upon booking we were not notified that the hotel is heavily under construction. Despite this situation we paid full price to sleep in a construction pit. Very unsatisfied.
Perfect location. Beautiful room. Friendly and helpful staff. Well worth reconsidering.
Did not stay inside, but you have seen from below what an exceptional and nice hotel it must be.
Great hotel. The location is stunning - very close to the river banks, and in the middle of the city centre. The rooms are clean and wide, and the service is very good. Free, fast Wi-Fi is top as well.
Very Nice setting and situation. Great lobby. Parking a little difficult. Room correct but small and with stairs in it !
The location of this hotel is really ideal, parking at the main entrance and at the rear you walk out into the car-free and medieval city center of Ghent. Our room did have some minor defects such as a towel rack that was not properly attached in the bathroom, damaged air conditioning hood, mirror in hotel room was glued with wrong glue, so this was reflected in the mirror. Room was clean and we had a good night's sleep the bed made a lot of noise when turning around. The breakfast is of good quality and wide choice, the staff are friendly.
I paid 50 in advance for a guarantee and I was told I will get it back when I check out but until now I dont get back. a week after I checked out they took 94 from my bank card and when I asked why they told me that my travel agency had not pay them enough and thats why they charged me 94 without telling me.
Really enjoyed my stay at Marriott Ghent. Friendly staff. Great location - step out and canal is in front of you and super short walk to Old Town, Korenmakt and public transport that takes you to the train station, major museums, etc. I was there during the 10-day Ghent music festival and the rooms were sound-proof enough that I wasn't bothered at all.
Curtain piece. Shower head piece. Friendly service. Price quality out of proportion.
What a prime location combined with the Ghent Festivities
A very nice hotel with very friendly staff and clean amazing rooms. It is near the center of Ghent, so you are just a few steps away from every touristic place and just five meters away from the main river.
Top. The place is clean and beautiful, and the breakfast buffet, mazette ...
Stayed there as a little staycation. The location and the hotel itself were great, as expected from a Marriot. However, the readiness of the hotel to reopen after two months of the lockdown was questionable. There was a bit of fine dust on the counter, assuming that the last time they cleaned it was two months ago. Which is understandable because normally the cleaning is done after the departure of the clients, not before. This is nothing compared to their sanitary standard. As for corona measure, they served breakfast as room service. On my plate, there was a small jar of jam that was already been eaten by somebody else. It was clearly not new. The seal was broken and half of the jar was already gone. This is not acceptable, not even in one-star hotel to recycle food from other customers. And especially with the corona crisis, this is even worse. I did not protest right away as I was not planning to consume that anyway and decided to take this for check-out. I did not expect any compensation but more of a remark for them to pay more attention to their sanitary standards. All I received from the personal at the reception was; this is not normal. OF COURSE, IT IS NOT NORMAL TO SERVE LEFTOVER FOOD. I did not get a proper apology, not even sure I received a sorry from any party involved. I paid the price of a four-star hotel because I am a firm believer in their brand and their standards. I did not expect this kind of treatment. I understand possible budget cuts but it should not impact the quality of service. I strongly recommend the hotel to review the sanitary practices.
Located close to the center, clean rooms and friendly staff.
Hotel really very good
To advice
Great location, polite stuff. Just polite, totally unprofessional! We asked for a drink at the bar and the bartender and waitress had no idea what was that and how to prepare it. Second trial was the same: they were out but not sure since in fact they didn't know how the bottle looks like.
Excellently plush hotel. Perfect place in the city. Great breakfast!! The staff here are top notch. The staff serving breakfast are amazing and fantastic. Front desk service was incredible. Daphne was pleasant, friendly, and very helpful. I would HIGHLY recommend staying at this property when in Ghent.
Top quality through out. Room exceptional and staff.
Would definitely check in here again if given the chance.
Excellent room level, breakfast, location, and especially their customer service - they sent me by mail a forgotten object .. Address to remember!
Very pleasant cafe with incredibly friendly staff. Definitely recommended for business calls or just a coffee.
A magnificent hotel and a welcome at the height of the sten dyke of the establishment
Excellent location in Ghent's city center. Close to all of the sites. Step outside and you are right on the canal with excellent bars and restaurants everywhere.
Very well placed to visit the city on foot. Car park. Breakfast very complete. Old facade and modern comfort inside
Great location in the middle of town with many restaurants and sites within an easy walk
Very nice place, design, comfortable rooms, rates according to the standing :)
Cozy open space. Enjoy a snack and a drink. Definitely worth a visit
Beautiful hotel with impeccable service and rooms of incredible comfort
Very good experience. French speaking staff or who takes the trouble to understand you. Very comfortable room, a badly insulated hair. Ideally located in the city center. Hall / glass very surprising. Breakfast very complete. For parking, take a public parking nearby, the price will not be the same ....
Very nice place. Large rooms, very good and kind service and the breakfast buffet is excellent.
It's also very well situated.
Only lows would be that parking is very expensive and I never was able to connect to the wifi because it was overloaded (...).
On the river and within walking distance to all the tourist attractions. Modern/newly updated rooms. Breakfast is bountiful and worth the fee. Would definitely stay again.
Impressive interior.
Nice to have a look and to have a drink.
The rooms where very comfortable and the the staff was very friendly.
Really nice hotel. We booked a waterfront room and it was HUGE and beautiful. Vaulted ceilings really made the difference. The lobby is fancy. The whole place is quite modern.
We often call in for a drink and the ambience is always lovely. However today it was seriously understaffed. There was a lovely young waitress doing her best, but people were waiting a long time to be served.
Expensive with expensive parking too, but in old town on the river. Very central.
Ghent Marriott Hotel, like! Modern style, next to the Lees Canal, it is convenient to hang out, drink coffee on the canal, and relax.
The best location, good atmosphere, all the facilities available! Photo taken just in front of the hotel
Hotel at the top, home, service, gym and lunch very rich !!
Extremely good customer service. Particularly great place for families with kids. There is a lego table and open space to keep the kids entertained if adults want to lounge in bar area...also great for check-in/check-out times. Rooms were very nice, restaurant was top-quality and location was wonderful with river tours located outside front doors..
I Booked a junior suite with a Nice view over the Graslei. It was perfect.
Cheap but messy. Staff does their best for everything. No public WC.
When you come out of the main gate, you can see the best sight in the background of a beautiful canal. Location is good and building structure is unique. Breakfast, however, was the most expensive meal I ever had. So I dropped one star. The staff were friendly and nice.
Service very slow to nonexistent. Lemon tea ... without lemon. Price: EUR 4,5
Upscale hotel in the heart of Ghent set in an excellent central location for exploring the city. Hotel blends anonymously into the surroundings and rear entrance leads out to a picture postcard canal side location. High quality large upscale rooms. Pleasant bar area in a modern atrium setting. Good service, during our stay we had one complaint which was quickly and competently rectified, just as you might expect from the Marriott brand.
Parking available a cost and take care as the parking spots can need careful manoeuvring!
Probably the best overall hotel that I've ever stayed at... This was my 10th or 12th time.
