Georgetown Cupcakes Review

The cupcakes were fine, but would not be worth waiting in a line with 50+ people, as is normal during the summer months when lots of tourists come into DC. Their cupcakes seem very overhyped and overpriced, and it seems like people only visit because they have a TV show. I would only consider going whenever they give out free cupcakes. I've had better cupcakes from the Curbside Cupcakes food truck.

The store is really small and crowded, the price is too expensive. The cupcake is very small. But the cupcake tastes good and the people who work there are nice

Tried a cupcake during the cupcake craze years ago, it was ok. Nothing spectacular. I had better cupcakes from a hospital cafeteria that were very moist, full of flavor without being overly sweet, and not as pricey. Not to mention, their lines were not atrocious like GC.

Love these! Good service. Sometimes there is a long line though.

I have tried to order cupcakes online for 2 days and each time I was given an error message and I did not get through every time I called. Today I drove to the shop to buy what I needed for the graduation and they recommended that I go to Bethesda, MD instead. I ended up at Safeway buying a cake. It does not matter how good they taste if the customer service is horrible.

Two years ago I ordered cupcakes for a birthday gathering and they did not send me the full order. They did refund me but it was pretty embarrassing when half of the guests did not get cake.

It fascinates me to see this program are the best katherine and sofi I look forward to someday to try those cupcakes. :)

Who dosen't like cupcakes. Well your gonna love Georgetown cupcakes they are one of a kind. Very unique and tasty, they also have gluten free cupcakes if thats an option that you are interested in.

Don't know if it's worth the wait, took us over an hour to try the chocolate cupcake , it's just the joy of standing up in the que incase you don't have other things to do in the area . I prefer walking around and exploring than standing in a que.

Wonderful cupcakes! Worth every penny! The staff are always amazing goo. I recommend pre-ordering unless you enjoy standing in lines.
I used the app this time but did not fully understand so my order wasn't completed. That was no problem. The staff found my order, explained it all to me and got it filled immediately!
I've never had a bad experience here. If you are lucky, you might get to meet Sophie and or Katherine as we have in the past. They didn't hesitate to stop what they were doing to come say hi and take pictures!

Best cupcake I've ever had. Line was out the door but the wait was well worth it. I had the chocolate salted caramel and would highly recommend it.

Years later and there is still a line wrapped outside the door before rush hour traffic. So proud of this establishment. I pre ordered a dozen assorted cupcakes for my boyfriends bday. (SN: if you preorder and paid your money already you can just bypass all the people in line and go to the counter to the far left.)

Delicious delicious delicious!!! Unbelievable selection of cupcakes. The seasonal pumpkin spice cupcake was absolutely perfect! Not too spicey not too sweet. They have so many flavors that more than one is sure to please! They seem to always have a line outside the door but it moves along quickly. 5 STAR!

Cold drinks are broken, flies buzzing around the cupcakes. Cupcakes are so-so. Compared to Baked and Wired or Sprinkles, this easily comes in last.

I did a taste off between 3 local cupcake shops in Georgetown and Georgetown Cupcakes won hands down! Their cake is fluffy and the frosting is wonderful!

Good cupcakes and interesting, sometimes unique, selection of flavors. I was expecting something better given the perpetually long lines, but I must say Hello Cupcake on Capitol Hill has the best cupcakes I've found in the city. Still, this spot is in my top 5 cupcake spots in the US and the service was fast and extremely friendly.

Beautifully displayed, so colorful, so many varieties. They were filming their cupcakes of the month. You are encouraged to go online and pick your favorite. We tried 3 - Strawberry Cheesecake, Chocolate Ganache, and Red Velvet. The frostings were delicious!

Good cupcakes but not worth the line the tourists stand in. There are other cupcake places in Georgetown that are less of a tourist trap.

Went there at 6:45, 15 minutes before closing and was told that it was closed

I've tried several cupcake shops featured TV. Usually I find them overrated. However, these were well worth the wait! Moist with tasty frosting thatbwasnt overpowering sweet. Only complaint is that the design and flavors seemed basic.

I'm normally pleased with everything Georgetown Cupcakes but this time go round I'm so disappointed. To start my window was 10am - 4pm. Order received a little after 4. Not too big of a deal. Then I open my box and the cupcakes didnt look as neat as they normally do. It seemed as though they were rushed and just not pretty. Last as I'm sitting in my bed with the box on my lap because I was in bed when the bag was handed to me.... a big black ant is sitting on top the box! I will not say I won't order from here again because I absolutely love these and I'm already getting my order together for my birthday in 2 weeks but geesh.

Glad they delivered my cupcakes. If you order online, I recommend ordering a day prior to when you actually plan to eat them. This will allow for the cake to defrost a bit. Good on the second day!

Some row always, very traditional in Georgetown. It's like the must have in the area

Cupcakes are fantastic! The place is small, but the amount of different flavours is unbelievable! I had to chance to get there between Nov & Dic and on two following days I found very different cupcakes, as they change them every month. Plus, the girl at the counter is so nice! I came across it during a walk in Georgetown, and couldn't be happier of such encounter!

This is the perfect place if you have a sweet tooth. I ordered 1/2 dozen cupcakes, and the chocolate donuts are awesome. For the most part, all the cupcakes were on the sweet side, but still good. The store is a bit small, so do expect to dine in unless you get lucky. The service is steady, but not fast. If you hate waiting in line, then don't come here. Overall, the experience was good. Came in to try, take a selfie, and move on.

Ordered a week early some engagement theme cupcakes and waited an hour to get them. The fondant was messed up and my cupcakes were all messed up and broken. I was supposed to pick up at noon and the party was at 2pm. Staff was incredibly rude about the broken cupcakes (which was not my fault since I literally opened them outside the store) and flat out said to wait 20 minutes again outside. When they brought the new cupcakes out, they tried to give me a lecture. I am very disappointed, will never order again from there. Staff and the quality has gone down by A LOT. I am mainly angry about how they treated me and didn t even apologize for the messed up cupcakes. This was their main location in Georgetown.

No cupcake place should run out of Red Velvet. Cut down a star for disappointing me.

The wait wasn't too bad! And what a selection! Glad we stopped here on our trip to D.C. The chocolate cheese cake was delicious

I will never order from Georgetown cupcakes again. A friend was traveling to DC for work and had a death in the family so I ordered cupcakes to help cheer her up. Georgetown cupcakes failed not once, BUT TWICE to deliver the cupcakes to her. I called on both days to confirm they would be delivered and was assured they would be. I don t understand how a company that ships throughout the US has a problem delivering cupcakes within a ten mile radius. Now the cupcakes that were supposed to help cheer up my friend are utterly useless.

While the cupcakes are good and the line moves quickly, a bit overrated.

Cupcakes are phenomenal but, be careful with the box they give you to-go because if it flips over your cupcake falls out of place and makes a mess in the box and no one likes a cupcake that is ugly!!

It was good. Had the chocolate egg nog cupcake. Kind disappointed there was no line. Wanted to get the whole experience!

One of the best place for deserts. IT has good desert options and all flavors available for cakes.

#1 place to stop in D.C- My favorite is the blueberry cheesecake

Worth the wait, like I was told, when I walked up to George Town cupcakes the line was out the door. Not only was the service fast, we got to choose our cupcakes in less than 10 mins, and they were gone in 2. Try the chocolate peanuts butter and the cheesecake ! Both amazing.

Could not have been more disappointed! Vanilla icing is like biting into a slap of cream cheese. The chocolate icing was dry not creamy or flavorful. Bought 4 cupcakes ate less then half of each and threw the rest out. Very, very overrated. Save you money and go else where.

The line was about twenty minutes long, but totally worth the wait! I've never had frosting so light and delicious. Definitely the best cupcake shop in town. Don't let the line scare you, it's just that good!

Place is excellent and cupcakes are quite amazing and delicious. Very good desert option with friendly staff located in a great area of DC. Would certainly revisit. Would certainly recommend the Key Lime pie

The cupcakes are pretty good, but nothing so special that I would want to wait in line 30 minutes for.

You can find better elsewhere in D.C. I have been twice and have been generally unimpressed by the subpar service and mediocre cupcakes. The wait was long even when I pre-ordered online, and the cupcakes are much smaller than others found in D.C. It is not deserving of the hype or your time and money.

It's very popular, so there's a wait, but the staff is nice and the cupcakes are very nice.
