Georgetown Cupcakes Review

Order was wrong....and I didn't realize it until I made it back to my hotel.

Delicious. Worth every penny. Convenient order ahead and pick up available. Safe.

All the stories you've seen amd heard about them are absolutely founded in truth. Cupcakes are definitely worth the wait (line can wrap around the corner of the block some days)

The cupcakes were good, but slightly expensive. We went there with a vegan friend because they have vegan cupcakes, but they were out! I wish they would post on the door if they were out of specific cupcakes for dietary restrictions (vegan or gluten free) so you don't have to wait 30 minutes or more in line to be told they don't have them.

Got turned away, you must order through the app otherwise you will be SOL. On the particular day I chose to order the famous delight it was a 3 hour wait for pick-up.
Lesson Learned :)

When I go into the next life and receive my reward for reviews my only request is that I have 70 cupcakes awaiting me when I get there. Amen

The cupcakes are amazing and the staff are really nice. But they messed up my order and gave me 6 cupcakes instead of 8

What can I say ! The cupcakes here are amazing ! They taste amazing ! Every time I come the cupcakes are always fresh and just delicious! Definitely recommend!!!

I absolutely love them!! They are very delicious! I've gone a few times and every time there is a long line, so yes if you go you might have to wait in line (outside most likely) but it moves fast and is worth it.

Great as always. Chocolate ganashe cupcake is my ultimate favourite.

Never understand why this place is so popular. I will go to Baked and Wired if I am craving for good cupcakes. Cupcakes here is really nothing special. I always feel bad to see tourists wasting so much time in line for such bad. cupcakes.

UPDATE: Now 1.5 hours late, no contact from delivery service, and no idea where cupcakes are/when would be delivered. Finally emailed them to just cancel the order--I'll go elsewhere rather than give them additional time to screw this up. Horrible company---get your desserts elsewhere, or plan on blocking out the ENTIRE day to wait around for the order to arrive--hopefully.

The cupcakes are decent. The delivery service is terrible. Second time ordering from them for delivery in the DC area. Second time they have completely missed the delivery window, and left me waiting around for most of the day, instead of a 3-hour delivery window, in hopes that the cupcakes will arrive.

If you can go get them from the shop, perhaps do that. If you need them delivered, look for cupcakes elsewhere---they are absolutely unable to get cupcakes delivered in their 3 hour windows, and you're left waiting with no idea of when they might arrive and no notification from the driver that they're running late or when they might actually arrive.

Fast delivery. My company purchased for the Team. So delicious. Packaged perfect for FedEx, chilled, ready to eat.

These cupcakes open a lot of doors. They're great presents for literally anybody.

Great cupcakes but the tables and floors were filthy, the trash was overflowing and the place was full of flies.

This is one of our favorite places to get cupcakes. They're amazing!! They have some cupcakes that are there every day, but then they have daily specials which are only there certain days of the week. My favorites are usually the seasonal specials, which are flavors that compliment the season. They have extremely creative flavor combinations, as well as classics, and if you're lucky, you may be on the "cupcake cam" and seen on the tv show "Georgetown Cupcake!" Do plan to wait a while in line, especially if you go on a weekend! Totally worth the wait, though!

Best cupcakes around! Would just recommend being prepared to wait in line, or place your order in advance.

Love these. Expect long ques and wait times on weekends and weekday evenings, but totally worth it.

We waited in line for 45 minutes for a dry cupcake with icing I could buy at the store. Not worth the "we won a TV contest" hype.

Cupcakes were ok. Nothing so spectacular that would warrant the price tag of $4/cake. I had a Bailey's chocolate cupcake and there was no hint of Bailey's flavor, just tasted like plain vanilla frosting and chocolate cake. Definitely over-hyped and overpriced because of reputation. Unfortunately, it has not kept up from when it first opened.

Place lives up to its reputation. There's always a long line, at least on the weekend, but it moves quick and the cupcakes are worth it. You won't be disappointed.

Can't get enough of this place. Even though there's always a line outside, it goes by fast. And totally worth it . Anything with cheesecake in it is to fiee for. My favorite here is their salted caramel and cookies and cream cheesecake cupcake. And when in season, their blueberry cheesecake cupcake is like a taste of dessert heaven.

Personally, I think this place is overrated. Can you get a nice cupcake? Yes. Is it worth standing in line? No. There are many flavors and options, and the place is cute as punch. However, the hype is exaggerated

Great cupcakes! I did not give 5 stars because of the horrible set up of the building. One tiny entrance with a line waiting to come in. They need a separate door just for an exit.

Very friendly and cute shop. I expected to be amazed and wasn t. It wasn t bad but I have had a lot better. I m glad I tried it but would not go back or recommend for the hassle of parking and the wait.

It was very disappointing the way they treat the elderly people. It was horrible to see the disrespect and rudeness the employees of Georgetown cupcakes showed to an elderly couple that picked up their order after us. I will never go there again. EVER!!!!! I can t believe you guys hire people like that to represent your company.

The line was out the door. These were excellent cupcakes and well worth the wait.

The big variety of the cupcakes tastes. The staff is really happy and committed. The space is really small and need some review on the layout. In my mind the position of the entrance needs change to M Street. Since this place became a hit every time the you go there you will need despend a lot time on the queue. But it it the best place to eat cupcakes.

Very delicious cupcakes, the line is long and it feels eternal when you wait cold, but I could not stay without visiting this place.

I placed an order online for my husband's birthday and arranged for a colleague to be contacted to meet the delivery agent. When I got confirmation, the phone number area code was wrong. I contacted the store via email, got a new confirmation, and confirmed both the colleague's and my phone contact numbers on the order. Half an hour before the gathering, I got a call that the cupcakes had still not arrived, and although it was still within the delivery window, I called the shop. They indicated that they had tried to contact both my husband's colleague and me, however, neither of us received a call and there was no indication of a call in either of our call history. The deliveryman had arrived in the early part of the window, which would have made it easy enough for an email to be sent - after all, they ask for your email when ordering and I'd communicated with the shop that way successfully. I've used GC before and their cupcakes are good, but that was unacceptable. They've indicated they will provide a refund, but the disappointment really won't be made up easily.

Goodest and most wholesome sweets I've had in a while. Long wait was worth it as there aren't other cupcake shops nearby.

i have watched the show for several years and always wanted to try one so when we visited dc for the first time i made my family go out of our way to try one for the first time. these are hands down the best cupcakes we've ever had. the frosting just melts in your mouth with exceptional flavors. i bought a half dozen for my self and do not regret anything.

Little dry, shop is small and has bad flow (entrance and exit is same door). Go for the experience, not for the cupcake.

Georgetown Cupcake is a great stop for cupcakes in the area. Flavors are surprisingly creative, unusually ornate, and generally delicious. Service can be a little slow sometimes, but the location is great and the staff are friendly. Worth a stop!

I personally love these cupcakes. They're so rich in flavor. They are always a hit at parties. They just need to find another location that has an indoor seating area for people that just like to hang out and eat cupcakes. The line is atrocious . But regardless I'm still willing to wait in line for them. that should tell you how amazing these cupcakes are.

Amazing cupcakes. And I don't give out 5 stars. My husband had Cherry Cheesecake. He is not a dessert person. He said he'd wished we were headed somewhere so he could buy a dozen. I had Chocolate. Not dry at all and frosting had the perfect sweetness.

ORDER ONLINE BEFORE GETTING IN LINE! IT IS PICKUP ONLY! Sorry for the caps, bit we stood in line, (many of us) before we read the sign for online order pickup only. We got the dozen. The peppermint white chocolate cheesecake is absolutely amazing! Ms. Claus cocoa is also excellent. The cupcakes are gourmet and sell out. So get the order in before 430pm. By 5pm is was sold out on a Sunday!

Twenty minute wait on a Thursday night. Well worth it.

OMG! This place is so amazing. Cupcakes are the best ever. I will never turn one down as long as I live, as long as I never have to stand in line to get one. Why does anyone in their right mind waste half an afternoon for something you can get down the street. They re cupcakes, not cocaine. Start acting accordingly.

I ordered around 6 different types of cupcakes and liked only the coconut one. However the deal breaker was the cream. Too sweet for my taste. Thankfully the line to get inside the shop was short that day.

Average cupcake to be totally honest. Nothing special about this place besides the busy atmosphere and hype that surrounds it because of the TV show they used to have. Cool to see, but wouldn't waste my time waiting in line!

The lines were not long when I was there. The cupcakes were actually really tasty and the icing I was able to eat without feeling like it was overly sweet or oily. The flavors were good. There are only a few seats in the restaurant but they turned over quickly. The seating area was not well maintained though. It seemed that patrons cleaned up after themselves and however the previous person left it was how you got it. Patrons were considerate overall.

The taste, texture is on point. Love the variety they bring. The prices are reasonable as well.

Also during covid-19 remember to order ahead of time. They only accept online ordering. Also for Georgetown try and go early in the day or later. Not during rush hour. Hard time parking.

Really disappointing. I had heard great reviews of this place but I was very underwhelmed with their cupcakes. The cake itself had no flavor (both for the toffee and unicorn ones) and the cream cheese frosting was very overwhelming and that was the only flavor you could taste. Imagine slapping a good portion of Philadelphia cream cheese on a bland slice of cornbread and you have yourself a Georgetown cupcake

Its good , pretty but overpriced.. Archer Farm's Vanilla Bean cupcake at Target taste the same if not better for 1/3 of the price.. seriously

I understand COVID19 restrictions but come on. Their pickup situation actually causes people to congregate outside the store. There is no reasoning behind their pickup is all I can say.

One of the best cupcakes I had. This place is overly hyped and it definitely meets the expectation. You can always assume that there will be a line outside, this is due to the place being small. But dont let this stop you in joining the wait, Its definitely worth the wait.

It's great cupcakes don't get me wrong, and I would highly recommend it to tourists and newcomers to at least try once. However, the lines can be long and there are some hole in the wall cafes around the area that also offer cupcakes that are on par with GC's if not better.

I had the chocolate caramel swirl cupcake and it was delicious, but not sure it was worth the price. I was expecting a much larger cupcake. This place seems to be very popular as there was a line out the door and down the street.
