I finally decided to stop when I was over that way and am glad I did. Many have told me that their cupcakes were dry and Sprinkles is better without the wait. However, the line moved fast and all of the cupcakes I got were great. Definitely pricey, but very delicious and worth it for the occasional treat.

The cupcakes were good, but they were a bit expensive (about $4 for a smallish cupcake) and the wait to even get inside the place was absolutely ridiculous. We waited an hour. It's just not worth it.

Waited an hour to get in but worth it! Best cupcakes I've ever had. So beautifully made. I had the strawberry cheesecake which was to die for. Everything in there is so cute, all their boxes and cups are pink with hearts on them. A little expensive but you pay for the quality. We got half a dozen. Only thing I'd recommend is to eat it right away or move it into a different container. Ours were stale the next day sadly.

So thankful to have tried this place when there was barely any line up- heard the line ups can get so long! The cupcake variety is enormous and they really are all SO good. Would love to visit again.

I am new to DC so was intrigued by the long line at this place. I was thinking to myself these must be the best cupcakes to make people line up outside on a chilly November evening. My friends and I waited for about 45 minutes. The line was moving rather slowly so I studied the menu and got a list of what I wanted so the ordering process would be quick. When I got to the register, the cashier was rude and unapologetic when they ran out of half of the flavors I wanted. The menu has magnetic pieces of plastic that have the flavors. Why not remove the ones you don t have? They also only have 1 person taking orders with 2 registers. On a Saturday evening I would expect to have more registers available to have the line more quicker. I deducted another star because the one person preparing the orders moved at the speed of molasses. I am not sure how they do it in DC but if this was NYC she would be roasted for how slow she was moving. All in all the cupcakes are decent and a little over priced. Maybe not worth more than a 20 minute wait. Red velvet was my favorite.

Okay so I have to say that they hands down have the best vegan cupcakes I have ever tasted. It's unfortunate that they do not carry all of them everyday. They do one vegan flavor a day but I have tried the carrot cake one and the apple cinnamon one and they are amazing!!! They are so soft. I am not sure how they are so soft without any eggs and dairy. Absolutely divine I am not vegan but I am lactose intolerant so I eat a bunch of vegan desserts and these cupcakes impressed me. They are a little on the sweet side, but an overall great experience.

There is nothing special about their cupcakes. There are so many better options in Georgetown to get fresh cupcakes and pastry. Long line. There was fly in the backseat. Frosting taste like you bought the cheapest cupcakes from the grocery store. Not worth the trip.

This place have the most awful service. The cashier js aways very slow, even if is long lane outside, they don't put second cashier to improve the line. Also the closing time of the place is 8pm on sunday and even that you are in at the shop before 8pm, there is no flavors witch is waste of time when you ave to wait for 20 min on the line outside. Even the cupcakes are ok , service destroying the ecperience of good cupcake. I will not go ever again in the Georgetown cupcake. They lost me as a client. If i feel the need , but really feel the need I will visit the one i n Bethesda, but still very disappointed from tbe way that this place beeing operated.

Be prepared for a long line. But the wait is worth it. All their cupcakes are really bomb. They have a couple of seating spots towards the back, but there are also seats outside. The workers are nice and helpful. They'll take their time and explain their different kinds of cupcakes.

I received a dozen cupcakes for my birthday from my employer and I was so impressed with them that I turned around and ordered a dozen for my mother in Michigan for her birthday. Hers arrived beautifully as did mine and we are both impressed with the quality and flavor of the cupcakes. Thank you for making a shipping option available in 2020 when coronavirus makes it difficult to send presents.

Cupcakes are the best and offer a variety of tasty flavors. My wife loves the Valentine s Day dozen that came in a nice heart shaped box with personal note. And we loved sampling all the flavors together.

OVERRATED. Customer service is lacking. Cashier was rude and being a little baby because customers were leaving the door open while waiting to make their purchase. It's not the customers job to manage the door. If you are concerned about the door, then put an employee at the entrance and have them control the flow. The cupcake selection is nice. Again, this place is overrated.

The place is really good, even though there is usually a wait during most hours I have been there. But it is worth the wait. The cupcakes are really great... especially the red velvet and also the simple subtle flavors are brilliant. The more fancier names might sound nice and are tasty as well, but the simple ones are just brilliant.

Don't even bother trying to get anything from this location during the pandemic. I drove an hour for an order that was placed online (for which I received an email confirmation), only to arrive and no one had any knowledge of said order. To make matters worse the cupcakes that I ordered were no longer available.

They're scamming and stealing from customers during COVID-19. They promise on their website that you can order online and make a pickup at the store. That's a lie! Not only will they not send you a confirmation email of the order, but when you go to pick it up, it won't be ready at the specified time or at all for that matter. And they'll take your money anyway! They're lying, thieving, so called 'bakers'. Don't waste your time with this trash establishment when baked and wired is down the street.

The worst cupcakes I have ever had! No flavor or personality to them, they just taste like a machine made them. Will never recommend to anyone. Worst experience I have ever had. The wait is not worth it.

We live in PA and have made the pilgrimage to DC specifically for Georgetown Cupcakes twice, and are planning our third trip (and a fourth before moving to the West Coast). I have no idea how people are giving this bakery bad reviews. They are cupcakes - they ARE sweet and unhealthy. Seriously. My family typically eats very well (organic, home-homecooked meals). We are active and in excellent health. Therefore, eating these cupcake once or twice a year, isn't going to be detrimental to one's health. If, perhaps, you are borderline diabetic, it's probably best to forego any cupcake, not just these.

The size of Georgetown Cupcakes is typical of a standard cupcake. They are not small, nor mini-cupcakes. They are regular sized cupcakes. Moist, flavorful and delicious. What really does it for us, is the icing. So, incredibly smooth and creamy. They offer a great variety of favors, so there is bound to be something (at least one!) for every palate.

Each time we have gone, the line is out the door and up the hill. We have never waited in line. I always order online prior to our trip. Those who order ahead can skip the line and go right to the counter. Tell one of the friendly employees your name, they will get your box and you are on your way. You can make special requests on your order, which include signed photos from Sophie and Katherine. My children were over the moon with happiness!

At the end of the day, these are outstanding cupcakes, at a reasonable price, and a perfect occasional treat. We will keep coming back as long as we are on the East Coast!

Georgetown Cupcakes is a foodie hotspot in the D.C. area and place well worth seeking out if you love your cupcakes. Opening hours are 10am to 9pm daily (close at 8pm on Sundays). There are queues which form well before opening time so be ready to allow some time if you want to experience Georgetown cupcakes.

This is the flagship Georgetown Cupcakes, also referred to as D.C. Cupcakes. There are other branches in NYC, Boston and a couple other cities in the States. However if you have tried, heard of or seen them on the tellie, this is the original bakery and shop.

We've had their cupcakes a few times in recent years and they have always been very, very good. You can purchase individual or groups of cupcakes which are packed nicely in their signature pink boxes, which are nice for travelling. As such, if you are D.C. for a few days and visit early in your trip, you can purchase a few extra to put in your hotel and enjoy during mornings or afternoons for the next couple of days.

There is an expected variety of conventional cupcake flavours along with Daily Specials and seasonal Monthly varieties as well. All are listed on the official website if you want to think about which to try during your visit. There is a large cupcake menu on the wall that you will see just as you enter the shop. Cupcakes are on full display behind a glass counter as well so you can look and think over which to purchase.

I've really enjoyed the majority of the cupcakes tried, particularly the pumpkin spice, vegan apple cinnamon, salted caramel and chocolate ganache. Others with different taste preferences will likely prefer others. Definitely have a look at what is available prior to arrival. This will help you order and receive your cupcakes in a more timely fashion.

I absolutely love Georgetown Cupcakes! They make the perfect gift and they are always wonderful quality. I've ordered from them several times over the years, sending cupcakes for mother's day, birthdays, graduations, you name it! I also attended a wedding in Texas once and the groom's family (who were originally from Maryland) ordered Georgetown cupcakes for the wedding! Customer service is great too, on one of the occasions (my sister's graduation) that I had ordered the special cupcakes they came smooshed with melted dry ice, my sister called Georgetown and they rectified the situation by sending a replacement. They truly care about their customers! Will continue to order from them!

I bought 7 cupcakes. But after returning home I found only 6 inside. I paid for 7 and got 6. They messed up my order.
Update: I emailed them. They replied quickly and offered to reimburse by sending a gift card. So I am changing the stars from 2 to 3 for their quick action.

Me and the Lady I used to date made it a thing to find a cupcake place in whatever state or country we visited. Gave our relationship an extra yet fattening purpose.lol. This cupcake place was tasty and unique. The crazy thing is I've been to the D.c. location twice. I've been to the Mercer street location in Soho NYC once and they're cupcakes I did not like. Smh D.c is on point. Pics are 2015

Beautiful presentation! We purchased the milk chocolate & salty caramel. The cakes tasted very nice, but the cake was dry. I suspect the time of day had something to do with it. We are at approx. 4 pm. Perhaps if we are earlier in the day, it would have been different friendly staff.

It's ok. They cheap out on all the good ingredients. Red velvet- not enough chocolate. Cream cheese frosting - not enough cream cheese. Chocolate cheesecake cupcake- not very good. The chocolate totally fell apart - not enough butter! You get the picture.
