Line was too long. Still haven't been able to get in. With children, this is a "No-Go". I'm sorry, it's probably pretty good but there are plenty of cupcake places in the area that taste the same.

This place is overrated and the lines are way too long. If you're dying for these cupcakes, order online and skip the line. Or head to Baked & Wired down the street.
Hello. I am disappointed. I have loved Georgetown Cupcakes in the past, but lately, what is going on???? No one answers the phone when I call. Based on my recent experiences I may never return. Thank you!
This place has a following for a reason--excellence! We didn't have to wait long in line, but when we left, the line was out the door. Order ahead and pick it up!
Ok I m sorry, but as someone who basically came out of the womb eating sweets - this has got to be the MOST overrated cupcake shop on planet earth. I could name about a dozen bakeries with better cupcakes and who don t charge the (outrageous) $3.50 per cupcake or give you twice the size for that price. These cupcakes are: 1. Small 2. WAY overpriced 3. Dry/not-moist as a cupcake should be 4. All hype
If the line is more than 5 minutes long, it s not worth it.
The cupcakes were so delicious... Just the best honestly. Going to that shop really made my trip. And I loved their tv show when I was really little so... It was a match made in sugarholilc heaven.
No review will do the cupcakes justice. These are hands down the best $3.50 I ve ever spent on dessert. Each cupcake is uniquely tailored to different taste pallets. The ratio of cupcake to frosting is perfect because it is 50/50 as opposed to being disproportionate. You have the options of choosing from flavors like coconut to chocolate peanut butter. The cupcakes are magnificent. The frosting amazingly tastes exactly as its described. I recommend looking at the menu before going because there s so many flavors to choose from. Don t let the line outside the door scare you. The line goes by smoothly and most importantly the cupcakes are worth the wait.
They are cupcakes, after all, good cupcakes, but try and keep perspective. The peanut butter fudge was very moist, not too sweet a plus and with a nice balance of peanut flavor. Like all their cupcakes, it is very attractive.Tourist-priced ($3 each) but you get what you paid for. We went on a Tuesday afternoon and there was no line otherwise I would deduct a star:)
Yay! Finally got to try this place! Visited around closing time, and many of the flavors were sold out but the remaining ones were still good. Brought them home from DC and they were good 2 days after. Would have been perfect if not for the airport security going through my carry on.
Used to visit every time we went to DC and the cupcakes were always worth the wait. That was a few years ago. Now they seem smaller, are very pricey and tend to taste bland and are dry as opposed to moist, as they once were. I ordered the Class of 2020 dozen and they arrived all messed up and tasted awful. They sent a free dozen with the shipping on them which was kind of them, and although they looked better in appearance this time, they still were dry and tasteless...they've definitley gone downhill and not worth the price or hype any longer...sad...
I enjoyed the taste of their cupcakes, but felt like they lacked more gluten free and vegan options. They taste the same as their regular cupcake so why not offer more.
Cupcakes here are absolutely creative and delicious. A little pricey at $3.50 a cupcake, but so hard to resist. Be sure to check out their online menu as the selection of cupcakes varies by the day of the week. Lines tend to form out thedoor, but in my opinion, worth the wait.
Wonderful, neverending supply of delicious cupcakes. We went by once and passed on by as the line was 70 people deep. On our way back by there was no one in and figured they were out of cupcakes but decided to peek inside anyway. To our surprise they had mountains of cupcakes left so this place is worth the wait and if you're lucky, you can walk right in.
The cupcakes are heavenly but the customer service was lacking. A warm welcome would have been an added bonus to this experience and perhaps more gentle boxing of the cupcakes. My sister asked the associate if she could put the cupcakes in separate boxes because we were parting ways after we exited the store. Yes, the associate had already started putting our order of a half dozen cupcakes in a large box but a slight change in plans should not result in aggression to the point where I fear the cupcake is going to crumble. The cupcakes looked so good, I planned to get back in line to purchase cupcakes for the rest of my family but this experience quickly changed my mind. This encounter lead us to Sprinkles a short walk from Georgetown Cupcake, where we were welcomed with a smile. Because of this warm welcome, we decided to patronize Sprinkles as well where we purchased nearly a dozen of cupcakes. I will visit the location in Bethesda next time. Fingers crossed that I receive better customer service.
My mouth was watering while I was standing in line for an order of cupcakes. They are delicious and extremely soft. You cannot find better cupcakes anywhere else.
Georgetown cupcakes has been on our bucket list for years. Katherine and Sophie on TLC's hit show DC Cupcakes inspired my daughter Katherine and her best friend Sophie to try their hand in the pastry arts! Our visit was fun and the cupcakes were yummy!! Worth the wait in line!
The big question is it worth the long lines? My short answer yes if you are going to buy at least few types of cupcakes, the queue looks under 30 minutes, and the weather is good. I really liked how many of the cupcakes have a filling or a cream injected into their core; take the hot chocolate cupcake for example it had a very light almost milky/frothy center that complemented the dark chocolate cupcake. Make sure you have napkins btw!
I'm not a big cupcake eater, but I had an Oreo cup cakes and a salted Carmel cupcake that I ate two days after buying and it was still amazing!! Thee best cup cakes I've ever had and plan to drive back to dc and catch a plane and I will be making a detour just for those amazing cup cakes! I.e my real reason for flying out of DC
Awesome Cupcakes, we are owners of Cheryls Candies and Cakes in Indianapolis And Georgetown Cupcakes are really good cupcakes with a good variety of top shelf Cupcakes. Highly Recommend
I've been to fancy cupcake places before. This one is so-so.
I get it's appeal as like a cool place to hangout or to go on a date. I get that it's kinda famous... It probably shouldn't be. If you happen to be in the area seeing by. Expect a line. Expect the cupcake to be good, but compared to competitors it's going to be just okay.
The best time to go to Georgetown Cupcakes is in the middle of the afternoon on a cold and very rainy day. We didn't have to wait at all. During Cherry Blossom festival you could have to wait for hours! You can also order online, though I haven't personally done that. I had the Christmas Caramel and Red Velvet cupcakes and both were absolutely delicious and creamy.
The best carrot cake you will get anywhere. Also if you download their app you get free cupcakes and other free goodies from time to time. Amazing. We're addicted.
I ordered 6 cupcakes and 2 were flipped over. My Oreo cupcake landed near 1 of my strawberry cupcakes and my vanilla cupcake landed near my other strawberry cupcake. I had Oreo icing on 1 of my strawberry cupcakes and I had strawberry icing on my vanilla cupcake. It looked as if the 2 cupcakes were not secured in its holder. I didn t swing the bag and I kept the bag upright when I was walking. The bag remained flat while driving.
Great cupcakes, no doubt. Only thing is that the customer service isn't there. Cashier seemed like he didn't even wanted to present at work, the orders for a drink took awhile. Hot chocolate was a little disgusting.
I know they were part of a reality TV show, and that must be a contributing factor as to why these are way over hyped. First off, these joints are 3.50 each. When I watched the show a while a go they definitely looked bigger, but now the cupcakes are very small (arguably a mini) I had the lavender and earl grey cupcake. The cake itself was moist, but just tasted like white cake, I couldn't taste the lavender or the earl grey. The frosting kinda tasted like earl grey. Overall it was not that fulfilling of a cupcake, and most certi not worth 3.50. My suggestion is to patronize cupcake places that use real ingredients and give you value for your dollar.
I have to say, as for the designer cupcake industry, this place is far and away the best. The product is top notch, but now a days, there is a designer cupcake shop on every corner in any major market that sells a pretty decent product. What makes this place truly remarkable is the above and beyond customer experience. I just had the pleasure of being personally assisted by Allison, one of the managers at the Georgetown DC store, and her commitment to my happiness and the order fulfillment has ensured Georgetown Cupcake my personal and corporate business for light years to come. The entire experience was handled quickly, thoroughly, and professionally. Thank you Allison, and the entire Georgetown Cupcake company.
Woah! There was a huge line outside the store when we arrived on a Saturday evening. Went in to check what all the madness was about. Did not disappoint. The cupcakes were amazing and worth the money. Not very sweet as compared to many other popular cupcake joints. Loved the Earl grey and chocolate ganache cupcakes. #LetsGuide
Love this place. Excellent cup cakes. When we arrived home I ordered 2 dozen as dessert for a small gathering. They ship. Highly recommend Georgetown Cupcakes.
Overrated and ALWAYS crowded. Skip it and go to Baked & Wired, where the cupcakes are better, the menu is bigger (Espresso! Quiches! Brownies!) and a chiller vibe with twice the seating
Such a disappointing experience. The staff seemed extremely unhappy to be working in a place where all of the guests are excited to be visiting. The employees were dressed as if they just had come off the street and we didn t even get a smile, in fact we were told to wait outside and shut the door behind you so the air conditioner stays on . The shop was filthy from the bakery to the bathroom. I haven t even tried the cupcakes yet, but I hope they are better than the actual visit to the bakery.
