Ideal for a city trip. Stylish, centrally located, nice staff and clean rooms. Had a double room with a small bathroom. Everything is there that you need, even soap and shower gel. Because of Corona there is no breakfast buffet, but the croissant breakfast was ok too

small and quite modest, but clean. Breakfast okey with normal to rather small selection, but everything was fresh. Value for money is good. Very, very good location and nice staff. Modern, youthful facility

A lot of potential that is not used. Extremely low cost and unfriendly to customers (here I don't mean employees themselves, but policy of the company). So employees didn't even give an introduction at the beginning with explanations of where and what there is and how it works, if you then ask yourself, employees can hardly say anything. Not a word about breakfast, not a word about washer-dryer-iron-bicycle-bath towels-soap or anything else. I only saw how many public spaces there are here on Google Photos. I still got other useful tips either from reviews or from other residents, but not from employees or at least from a flyer. What did I mean by low cost and customer satisfaction: if you want to have your things checked in the day before, you have to pay. When you have finally checked in, you learn that there are boxes in the rooms, but no locks. You can't borrow a lock, you have to buy it. And so with every thing ... And it's not annoying that you pay extra for every little thing, but that you find out little by little and how crazy you have to go to reception regularly to clarify the problem ... The last one Point was WLAN, which cannot be used - there is the strange system where you enter all your data on one page and then get an email where the activation link should be. I've already tried it 3 times and still haven't received an email or in the spam folder. Don't feel like walking from the 5th floor to the 1st floor to find out what the problem is there.
Please to owners: please make everything easier, more customer-friendly, take a look at how other hostels in Berlin, Vienna, Stuttgart etc. are doing it. I've never seen anything like it. And the last: Wouldn't be bad if the next time there were new bed linen without hair, bed itself without chips, bags behind the mattress, overall less dust and (!) Toilet at least rinsed.
Greetings Mihail

This is a chain of hostels. Generally positioned in the center or near the stations. Very cheap but clean and tidy. The only flaw: really microscopic bathrooms! But for a few nights, at a low price, one is satisfied.

I loved it, especially with the value for money, I paid 15 euros for a shared room with 4 but as it is winter there was only one girl and we had a private bathroom. When making the reservation my credit card had run out of credit and very friendly the receptionist of the night accepted my payment in cash (Bargeld) or it could also be with EC - Carte. The train station and the ZOB (bus station) is in front. In the rest everything near and cheap by the street that is next there is a penny supermarket the cheapest in Germany.

There was no stay. I wanted to reserve 2 rooms. There are 3 options on the hotline: 1. Questions about your stay, 2. Group bookings, 3. Questions directly to employees. Chose number 3. Woman on the phone told me I was wrong and forwarded me to the reservation. Nobody answered. I called 3-4 times. Nobody answered. No call back. Simply bad. Sorry.

The good: Close to the train station, the private room with two clean beds.

The bad: It does not have air conditioning, it is very hot. It is right next to a "heavy" neighborhood where indigent, drug addicts and religious radicals abound.

Good boron option according to parasina. I had the G20 summit when I stayed. Everything in Hamburg was very expensive. It was a good choice for me. Not a very good sympathy, but not a dangerous area.

The shower in the room is super small, you barely can turn around in it.
The hostel has a bar in it so you are not allowed to bring in your own alcohol, but the prices at the bar are way more expensive then any other regular bar.
Some of the staff at reception was always rude and unfriendly.
The beds are quite comfortable with electric sockets and lights.

Location is top - right next to the main train station. Rooms (8bed dorm) functional, comfortable and reasonably sized. Shower and toilet in the room very small. The bar is a nice place for a few drinks. Prices seemed very high for a hostel though. Overall solid value for money

The staff seemed annoyed and was not very friendly. No fluent english.
And they charge for storing luggage after check out - 2 .

Super central location with very competent and very nice customer service. Room or beds were comfortable and super clean. A super round thing to make a trip to Hamburg even more beautiful

Get to my only complaint, the bathroom/showers. They are very narrow, like think 2.5 feet by 7 feet. They are built in the corner like a bathroom but separated so if someone is using one, someone can use the other. Other then that...

Rooms were great, beds were comfy with storage that fits the biggest luggage

The hostel was clean and well taken care of.

The staff were friendly and helpful,
More the. Once I'd have a conversation or two with the bartender on shift.

The prices of food and drinks were fairly low, you could get a fair size pizza for less then 7 euros or a beer for 3.90.

4/5 would come again

Extremely smelly room (mixed garbage and piss), roommates with little respect: from those who stayed completely naked at all, to those who turned on the light at any time of the night, up to a beautiful copulation of your neighbor with miss x. Inattentive staff: I am not told how to get to the room, what time is check out, if you can have breakfast, if there are other services ... nothing at all, document and key, thanks and good night in the dump. I have slept in the hostel many times and I have never had such a degrading experience. The bathrooms are obviously in line with the events of the night.

THEFT IN OUR PRIVATE ROOM

THEFT IN OUR PRIVATE ROOM
Negative: During our stay at the Hamburg youth hostel (February 6 to 8), our room was ransacked / searched and a watch has been stolen. The room was only accessible with a key card, so someone with an suitable key card entered the room to search our belongings.
Security is very poor in the hostel. Generator Hamburg told us they couldn't do anything.
Positive: location near the train station.

Location very good for those coming by train, easy to move around the city. Being in a central place, you might end up having a little street noise, nothing to worry about. Clean, comfortable bed and relaxed atmosphere at reception.

Good vibes.

The hostel is located at the train station and is quite modern. It is not allowed to eat or drink in the rooms, with the exception of water, which is a big criticism for me. The breakfast is good and the dinner could be better.

When I requested one of the front desk employee to change a bed, he insisted that I don't have reasons and when I named one reason, he told me that the reason is not sufficient, and humiliating me,
" it costs my time to do the change, you just paid 12euros and it's a hostel."
He said it over and over again, pointing out that" I just payed 12 euros "

The way he treated me totally ruined my day here, when I told him" it's not okay you said these words to you customer and it's disrespect to me, even though I just paid 12 euros, I am still the customer here."

He didn't feel sorry at all about his words and said, " if you don't have anything else to say, leave here."

When I left, I saw him laughing. I remembered that 10 minutes before, when I was doing the check in, he was laughing at the another customer-a girl with Asian face, who was extremely pissed off, just like me.

Actually a nice hostel, which is centrally located at the train station. The beds have a counter space and their own light. Everything was clean. However, the toilet was unbelievably small. At the sink you can hardly wash, because over it a shelf that blocks the way a bit. It was unbearably warm in the bedroom. There is an outdoor area where you can play table tennis. Seating is available. Also you can sit inside. Food and drink are available for purchase, no matter what time of day.

Everything is fine and clean, the staff is friendly.
The only problem is that the check Out is relatively early (10am).
So if you're going to party in the night and check out in the morning you won't have a good night sleep.

My room (dorm of 4 beds, female only) had no AC and it felt like a sauna most of the day. There was no soap (liquid or otherwise) in the bathroom. Other than the aforementioned, it was clean and rather quiet. WiFi worked well enough. (Did a skype chat) shower was warm (not that we needed it!).

Great

Affordable, all-female rooms available, located near the central train station (hbf). Each bed has its own power outlet including USB outlets. Beds are comfortable and clean. This is a large apartment building that was converted into a hostel. Extra bathrooms available on every floor (critical when there are so many people per room). Nice communal area available on the ground floor that includes several computers. Bar and breakfast/food available at additional cost. Within walking distance to downtown. 5/5 except for the shady neighbourhood and shady people who hang around the hostel.

Very nice hostel! Small but priced very good and adequate rooms, good for groups. Good location in Hamburg, easily accessible, and the hostel itself Clean, very nicely decorated. Not for everyone, because of high beds and limited space, but personally I thought it was very nice and for the price a top hostel.

So far the best hostel I have stayed in, stylish, industrial lobby and bar, clean rooms but small wet rooms, really small wet rooms. Room to the train station was relatively loud late into the night, but this did not bother me. Hostel live

I wouldn't recommend this hostel to anyone except as a last resort. Not only are the rooms much too small for the number of people, but the staff is extremely unfriendly. The whole atmosphere makes one feel like he is being treated simply as a source of money rather than as a person.
After reserving ahead of time, I checked in with my girlfriend for a two-night stay and was asked whether we were together, to which I answered "yes". I was informed that we were assigned beds that were not next to each other. I asked how strict the situation with the beds were and whether it might be possible to switch, to which the response was "the room is already full, it's your problem if you want to switch with someone else".
When we got to the room, we did indeed manage to convince another guest to switch beds with us. However, the next day when we came back from our sightseeing tour we were in for a shock. All of the stuff that had been on the bed -- toiletries, a charging mobile phone, a towel, a laptop charger, etc., plus the backpack that had been in the trunk under the bed had disappeared, and another person was lying in the bed. It turns out that the person we had switched with had checked out, and the hostel staff had removed everything from the bed to which he had been assigned. We went to the lobby to ask what happened and were again treated to unfriendly/clueless staff. Luckily we did eventually succeed in getting our stuff back. However, everything -- electronics, toiletries and all -- had apparently been dumped into a big trash bag, and the toiletries bag had been left open so that shampoo etc. was tumbling around freely inside. All in all it makes one question the training/job satisfaction of the people working at this hostel when they treat guest's possessions in such a thoughtless manner.
Honestly, had the initial check-in person not been so unfriendly and had he informed us that the cleaning staff would mercilessly attack assigned beds after the assignee had checked out, the situation could have been avoided.
In any case, there are enough other reasons besides the unfriendly staff to avoid this hostel--the rooms are very cramped, the bathrooms are practically port-a-potty-sized, there's a very high risk of running into annoyingly loud, party-minded teenage school kids, and lots of things (key cards, electric outlets) don't work half the time. On top of that the location, while practical, is somewhat dodgy at night.
Just say no to this hostel. Go somewhere where you'll be treated like an actual person.

Super.

Had a pretty shoddy experience here, the positives are the location as you're right by the main station to get you to/from the airport, and the rooms are an alright size.

We arrived late and I'd emailed ahead about this and received a pleasant response, but when we actually arrived the night staff were the total opposite. I don't speak German but figured basic English wouldn't be a huge problem for the staff however the guy at the desk decided to only speak German to me when it was apparent I wouldn't be able to understand. Thankfully my boyfriend speaks German so was able to communicate but considering the booking etc was under my name I found this all completely rude and definitely set the tone for the rest of the stay there.

It's a shame as I've stayed at Generator in Rome and it was really nice, but this was a really poor experience in comparison.
