Great location and stylish but impractical - very noisy (easy to hear what s going on in adjoining rooms and don t expect to sleep if you re here around Halloween), desk chair is too low to work at a laptop on the desk, poor night lighting.

Good size rooms, actually had a king/queen bed as standard! Nice bar with pool table in the lobby. Prices are somewhat reasonable for the area, but it's got a good location in the Meatpacking district with a number of nice bars, clubs and restaurants in the area.

Plunge had an incredible view. We went up with our whole family for sunset and where not disappointed. The drinks are definitely expensive however they are well mixed and worth it when you take into account the atmosphere. When we go back, and we will, I will make sure it is on the companies expense. The entire family was able to take memorable photos from the deck that I'm sure will plaster social media for weeks to come. In all, it was worth the visit.

*Edit* sorry my previous review was actually for Zuker's Bakery! Not sure how it got switched! Anyway the Ganesvoort here is actually very well decorated and featured what looked to be a rotating display of modern art. The rooms were spacious and very well suited for a honeymoon or date night on the city. The staff were friendly and the location was also pretty good with a Los Caminos just up the street for NYC's best Guacamole and Tequila binge. The pool was open even though the wind chill brought the temperature well below freezing. That's okay the sauna warmed us back up! Will be back again! Sorry about the mixup of the review.

Went to the bar on the penthouse. Very fun. Some bouncers are lazy to do their job and give you attitude and others actually join in and dance with you. Bar area is very small so you may be waiting for drinks for a bit.

Went to Pick on a Friday night after 10:30. The view is great, small space though. Vibe was off considering the "clubby" hassle to get in. If you're going to make it annoying to get in, why not make sure the music and vibe is right rather than having a bunch of older drunk people dancing to 80's music?

Checked me in 6 hours prior to 3pm check in. Great service and facilities, even had room service swing by offering ice or refreshments. Also offered to hold luggage while touring throughout the city post check out.

Awesome food, and a great selection to choose from. My only problem is that it is very expensive. I know it's mostly local stuff that's why it's expensive. But I spent $34 on two brats, fries, and a beer it was great and very filling, but $34 is a but excessive.

It's not only about location or one of the best room services every day but also the quality of products they provide in the rooms, view, quietness and most importantly the pressure of the water in the rooms. I definitely will book this hotel again.

I ve stayed at the Park Ave location twice and liked it, but Meatpacking s a different story. First night here and I m so uncomfortable. Heat is blasting and room is super hot and stuffy. Was told I could just open the window. Not an ideal fix for a noisy city stay. 2 more nights to go. MISERABLE!!!

The rooftop is the worst one from NYC! The manager and the people in charge of the line to get in to the rooftop discriminate people by their looks and they think they own the place when they are simple employees!

S'okay, rooms are standard fare for this part of New York. Cleanish and comfortable. Fittings all seem to be tired in the rooms, but would do for a few nights. Breakfast I found extortionate $50 for coffee, juice and pancakes, but probably no more than any other hotel of this ilk. Certainly quiet enough so no issue with kip. Would go back for a short busibess trip.

Good hotel, well located, friendly staff and prompt. Good gym and spa. It can improve the decor and a bit of the cleaning of the rooms but it is an excellent cost-effective option for the region!

Great location in meatpacking district, excellent sized room with very comfy beds and simple fresh fit out. Avoid if your wanting the quietest location especially on weekends, however travelled here with family and the kids loved it. Rooftop area with pool a great spot to chill out and have a drink.
Definitely would consider again when visiting nyc.

Stayed here for two nights and took the time to check out the rooftop bar.

I expected a 5 star experience given how the property was promoted, but the management of this establishment need to go back to hospitality school and get a full IT/Security audit of the premises.

A couple days before my stay I called to confirm my reservation, the phone was dead due to technical issue. Not a big deal, but it makes you wonder when they have no alternative communication mechanism.

Check in was normal and the room was well kept though oriented towards a certain element.

During the day, rooftop bar staff was attentive and normal.

At night the place changes, and this is due to the fact that they really let anyone in. The line at the front is merely for show as people can get past "security" with a puppy dog look, a "come on man", lying about staying or just showing a white plastic card, something I tested during my stay and subsequently.

Rooftop bar staff changes at night, more pushy, more aggressive, which is probably a response to the flood of non-guests at night.

On 7/18/2013 I went to the rooftop bar, but left my wallet in my room. The wait for the elevator was pretty crowded so I took the stars as I was staying on one of the higher levels, a "luxury" suite. On my floor I saw what could only be described as a crime scene, blood on the walls floor, bloody handprints and blood on the door. There was no staff there, caution signs or anything to indicate it was an accident, but given my experience with the night rooftop staff, I figured a staff member had an accident and wasn't trained on Health Code Laws, which in NYS you must have a staff member at any accident with bodily fluid until it is cleaned properly.

I was very surprised when two hours later it was still there telling me a few things:

1) This was not a staff member
2) Maybe this was an accident, but could be a possible rape or assault
3) There are no cameras in the stairwell and security does not regularly patrol the stairs.

I have pictures of these scenes, which management was very dismissive of.

After informing management of this they did their theater of "ensuring safety on the premises", but given what I saw the next day walking the property and again seeing how easy it is for people on the street to sneak in, they really do not know what they are doing.

It's a real shame as this is a nice piece of property, but management has not failed to show me their lack of experience and ability. Given my experience and what I have seen other guests post about YOU ARE NOT SAFE staying here. Management talks a lot about how they are ensuring guest safety, but when all it takes to sneak in is a white piece of plastic, at most, and a major incident goes unnoticed for hours, and uninvestigated after it is pointed out, you can tell it is all talk.

Proceed with caution or stay at The Dream, better priced and much better run.

Gansevoort, make the investments in infrastructure and training to live up to 5 star standards rather than cheapening them.

Want to find an eclectic, great location, upscale service hotel?? In New York you find it!! Have everything to relax after a day of work or sightseeing! Good option is to hanging out on the Lobby Bar and play a few rounds on the pool table while drinking beer or cocktails this time I got a room with a river view, that was awesome! Didn't want to close the curtains to avoid loosing that view! If want to get an hotel souvenir, don't miss the opportunity to buy the hotel bathrobes, just using it drives you to another dimension

My boyfriend and I were here last night for a Hall...

My boyfriend and I were here last night for a Halloween party. We're both professionals who live here in Manhattan & usually love coming to The Gansevoort. That's why we were excited to buy VIP Halloween tickets. Approximately one hour after being there three extremely intoxicated guys were pushing their way through the crowd and started a fight with my boyfriend. I got thrown to the ground as did he. Our costumes were ruined. When someone was able to help me up from the floor I grabbed a security guard and begged him to help us. Instead he told us that we had to leave and proceeded to escort us out. I tried to explain to him what happened, that out of nowhere, my boyfriend was sucker punched and me & him were thrown to the ground, and all he asked was, "well did you fight back?" I said we tried to defend ourselves against 3 extremely aggressive intoxicated men. He said, "if you fought back then you have to leave." Respectfully we left, but I'm extremely upset on how we were treated. Our entire night was ruined. I have an enormous black and blue knot on my knee & another on my forehead which I may need to seek medical attention for & my boyfriend has a swollen cut lip.
Being asked to leave when were we innocent bystanders in the wrong place at the wrong time, minding our own business were physically assaulted is unacceptable!!!!
I don't usually write reviews, but this experience should not go undocumented. I am extremely disappointed in the Gansvoort staff for placing blame on us instead of protecting us. We were treated like trash and thrown outside along with these violent men, further jeopardizing our safety.
I work for a five-star hotel in Manhattan and specialize in hospitality and this kind of treatment will not be ignored. I wanted to share our experience in hopes that this review will open the eyes of management & reprimand it's security guards for not doing their jobs- which is PROTECTING their guests!
