The hotel rooms are spacious, clean, and well designed. There were road repairs going on in front of the hotel so it was a little chaotic outside but it was quiet inside the room. The room doors are also heavy and soundproof which I appreciated.
But here are some downsides:
- It can get noisy at nights due to the noises from the bar across the street, so pack your ear plugs
- The internet speed was quite slow at points.
- It is on the pricey side, and they charge for the espresso in the room
But overall not a bad stay.

The Gansevoort once ruled the nightlife game in Meatpacking. While it still holds its own, I would say the Standard has given this hotel a run for its money. Either way, this hotel offers nicer rooms with a rooftop pool that is really unbeatable. You are paying for location (as with any hotel in the area) but it is well worth it. Toy is a great restaurant and fun event space as well.

This review is about the hotel itself, not the nightclub. I stayed in a queen sized room and it was very nice. Modern fixtures and styling without being over the top. I've stayed here a few times and rooms are always clean. Bathroom is highly functional unlike other trendy hotels who try too hard and end up w showers w no doors that get the entire bathroom wet.

I enjoyed staying at the Gansevoort Meatpacking - the location is amazing, the rooms are luxurious, and the overall feel is young, and maybe trying just a little too hard. The entire service staff, from the concierge and front desk, to doormen, elevator operators, etc. were accommodating and polite which definitely helped me enjoy my stay. There is certainly a lot to do in just the hotel, from the pool table/restaurant in the lobby, to the spa, lounge/pool and club. It felt nice to get to walk in wherever we wanted or reserve entry at the front desk rather than wait outside. The rooms were nice if not a little garish - but I think that's part of the experience. The best part was the location - to go out in the meatpacking district (or the Chelsea market for that matter) and still be so close is the biggest selling point. Overall, it was well worth the splurge, although I don't think it is comparable to similarly priced 'upscale' hotels/resorts - it was clear the Gansevoort Meatpacking caters to a younger 'party-friendly' crowd - so certainly expect loud noises, crowds of the inebriated, etc. It all kind of comes in the same package.

One of my preferred hotels when I'm in NY. I enjoy being in the Chelsea/Meatpacking area. Hotel staff is courteous and helpful. Lobby has a great little bar area that is the perfect place for starting the evening or ending it before heading up to your room. Rooms are clean and have a very cool decor. Sometimes hear a bit more noise from outside the hotel than I would like, but it's NY. That happens everywhere.

I've enjoyed my stay at the hotel, but have not taken full advantage of the bars and sports facilities. The room is spacious and stylishly decorated. I was a bit surprised by all the products for sale, including the coffee pods. It's a shame there was no free hot drinks and milk. I didn't buy anything apart from an espresso on the first morning.

Nice place for a rooftop bar. This is where to go when you want to be part of the scene. Party people, models, rich people... It's all a little pretentious and the drinks will set you back $15+. No cover fee, you are basically paying for the view and scene. No smoking allowed in the outdoor areas. Bummer.

Got charged for someone else's drink, the martini wasn't upto standards, the staff were rude when confronted about the mix-up with the bill, I just paid for it because I couldn't be bothered to argue in public.
Otherwise, the views are really nice, nice music and ambience.

Nice hotel and friendly staff. Disappointed in the breakfast accommodations, it was freezing in the breakfast area, 25 degrees outside and probably 40 inside. On my third morning I decided to call in room dining but was never able to reach anyone. I called the front desk and was told it was a change of guard (?) but they would transfer me. Nope, still no answer. You would think for what they charge for in room dining that you'd get someone to talk with. But it is a nice hotel. Just wear winter attire while eating breakfast.

This hotel is conveniently located in Chelsea. Typical of the hotels around there, it's hip it's cool but sometimes impractical. If you are a light sleeper don't stay here as there are several clubs around (and construction), so the noise can be problematic. Amenities are nice including the rooftop pool and gym, and soap, shampoo from Loccitane.

Went to the rooftop bar on a Thursday - great views, good enough drinks. Pricey cocktails and a very limited beer selection - but nothing uncommon from any NYC rooftop. Be warned that if you bring a bag like a backpack or briefcase they'll ask you to check it at the hotel before going up to the roof. And it's $5 a bag, cash only - what a joke for a luxury hotel.

Great hotel. Nice bathrooms, comfortable beds, very clean. Roof top bar was very nice but dont go until 1pm after they are all set up. Great location as there are many great restaurants near by.

I'm in Chelsea / Meatpacking frequently, and I've pretty much always stayed at The Standard. This time The Standard was full, so I ended up at the Gansevoort, and I'll be coming back.

The rooms are great, the place is stylish in a very intentional, very engineered Gatsby sort of way. If you're looking for hip, it's pretty good, though The Standard comes off less forced.

The staff were all great, especially Lauren at reception. The one thing that this place has over The Standard in spades is the actual utility of the bathrooms. The Gansevoort has, like, normal bathrooms. It's awesome. I don't need hipness when I'm trying to get ready in the morning.

One star withheld because the restaurant and beer garden are good, but nothing especially notable. I wouldn't go out of my way to frequent them. Unlike The Standard Grill, which is a pretty great venue, regardless of the fact that it's in a hotel.

Still. Next trip to NYC I think I'll be staying at the Gansevoort. It's cool, it's comfortable, and in my experience the staff were great.

Went for a friends birthday. Had a great time. They had a very nice room. Big bed where 4 or 5 of us fit comfortably. Didn't get to see the pool though. Kiss and Fly and Ajna Bar are two nice clubs right down the street. Will be coming back shortly to check that out!

Young immature crowd with your typical pretty boys, girls acting like hoes, overrated security and bouncers, and bartenders that think they are doing you a favor. I couldn't wait to get home.

Guest rooms are clean. Equipped with gym and locker rooms in the basement floor. Close to SOHO and good to have a walk for (window) shopping.

Clean and spacious rooms. There is also a gym with a locker room in the basement. Because SOHO is near, area which can enjoy leisurely such as shopping or window shopping.

It's okay. I stay in lots of hotels, not my favorite hotel on earth, but it's nice enough. Sometimes people can be loud here. I like the pool, the rooms are clean and neat but the meatpacking district feels very touristy and not like real NY. So I don't like all the "mall feeling" of the area. It doesn't feel authentic but tourist trap in the area. But if you get a deal online It's a nice hotel to stay in.

Great location near Chelsea Markets, and a short walk to the waterfront. Very clean and modern rooms, with comfy beds and an awesome shower. Quite noisy on a Friday and saturday night as its near a few bars, but if you use the ear plugs they give you, you'll be fine.

Arrived with some friends at Gansevoort early Friday night (~9:30 pm) to show them the views from a rooftop bar in the area (they were from out of town and wanted some evening views of the city). We were turned away at the door though, having been told our group of 12 wouldn't be allowed in unless we ordered 3 bottles ($300 minimum each). Considering there'd been no one else in line at the time and the place was more than capable of hosting us at the time, we all felt insulted and will definitely be avoiding this place in the future.

The Gansevoort is in a great location...& whithin walking distance to many great places & restaurants.
The rooms are bootique deco, which I found tacky & tired.
Rooms are also small & the air con units very loud with live water running which was strange & felt unsafe, bizarrely when you check in they ask you to sign a disclaimer against any liability for floods or fire...be aware!
Most of the staff I came across were great...esp the manager Paul who was very professional, Raul & Charles were also very helpful-thank you.
I d def stay in the same area but it wouldn t be the Gansevoort.

Amazing view. Amazing food and drinks. The price was a little steep (but what do you expect) and the service was slow, they had one girl waiting the whole restaurant! But overall awesome place to chill on a nice evening with friends.

Stopped by for a quick drink at the bar. It was overpriced and pretentious with barely any activity on a Saturday night. You can find a number of better spots in the city that won't break the bank.

If you plan on actually sleeping don't stay here. At least not on the weekend. The music coming from the rooftop bar was shaking our room until 4am. Front desk's response was "yea it's loud, not gonna lie." They did offer to move us but after walking through the hotel we realized we were ten floors away from the music and there wasn't much moving was going to do to help. Wish we were warned about this before hand. Such a fun area but if you plan on sleeping I would suggest a different hotel.
