The 2021 Winter Restaurant Week take-home dinner for two included Brie Farmbread (well prepared with many toppings), Garlic Wings (quite tasty but too sweet), Prime Rib (was very raw... still had blood came out), Scallops (soft and tender), Cheesecake (too soft and watery), and Key Lime Pie (very delicious). Half of them were much below our past on-site dining experiences. UPDATE: The issues were professionally and satisfactorily resolved.
The venue provides a wide assortment of hot plates from all the meat realms. Their play is their ingredients supplied by local farms and their scratch recipes. Once known as the land of milk and honey of primetime local dining experiences, this location has lost some of its flash and flair as some prices for classic dishes have increased while the platea have remained the same. For example, the thick clumos of tender white meat served with the chicken and waffles have become overly battered chicken mediocrity. And the desserts are passable. Come for the brunch which never disappoints with their stuffed French toast and monster truck pancakes. Reservations are recommended as seating and parking are scarce at busier times.
Fantastic food and perfect service in a laid back, beautiful space.
I stopped by here around 5pm with a couple of friends for some drinks and appetizers. Prices are a bit high. We each had 2 drinks and ordered 2 appetizers to share and the bill was over $80 not including tip! The quality of the food and drinks are pretty good, if the prices were a bit more reasonable I may be inclined to give it 5 stars.
Came in on a Wednesday around 2 pm for lunch and it was half empty. Blue cheese balsamic bacon burger and their scallops were really good. Food took about 10-15 minutes and was super quick, but again it was not too full so that's probably why. But the service was also rather quick. I ordered a medium rare, was probably more like a medium, but other than that it definitely worth it. Would definitely come back.
Great place for a date. I have been there for brunch, lunch and dinner. Every time the food was great. They have a selection for just about everyone and the staff is wonderful. I highly recommend this place.
The food is always amazing, today I want to give a huge shout out to our Server, Chris. Chris was SO friendly, welcoming, professional and knowledegable. The best service experience I've had in years
Great location for brunch. Plenty of parking in the back. Love their burgers, entrees w chicken, fried green tomatoes and butternut squash soup
Lots of delicious options here!
Note: the kettle corn is very good, but LARGE -- splitting between two people (along with entrees), we still took half the order home at the end of the night!
I have been here twice now. The atmosphere is relaxing and the food is wonderful. Both times the service was great. The staff is very good at making suggestions when you are not sure what to order. Also, the bathrooms are clean and well stocked. I would like the lighting in the bathroom to be brighter. Will go again.
Founding Farmers in DC was a better experience. The service was fine, but the food was mediocre at this location. $2 upcharge for average "heirloom" tomatoes was not worth it.
Good food in a cool restaurant...but a little pricey.
This restaurant is large and spacious. My food choices were yummy. I love their ginger soda, its very refreshing, flavorful and tasty. Oh! And the decadent carrot cake is so yummy and moist. The customer service and the staff at my time of visit were helpful, friendly, and on point. I recommend.
Delightful atmosphere with a delicious selection of appetizers and main courses. Scallops we seasoned and cooked perfectly. The crab cakes were amazing!
Best Brunch Ever! Just Go. Service, food & atmosphere are terrific. Be prepared to wait, but I think they take reservations. Great unique, large selection. Fresh food, & fresh juices. Awesome.
This place is my go to breakfast spot in Montgomery county. The food is always great and you can tell that the quality is exceptional.
Founding Farmers is good. It is also overrated and more popular for what reasons I know not. Expensive place to get some eggs and biscuits but sometimes you just need some Founding Farmers!
Excellent food. Excellent customer services. The best Farmers Restaurant in Metropolitan area.
Food was very disappointing. My husband ordered stake ,it was dry and burnt, and no sauce came with it. But server was very nice, thats why 3 stars not 2
This is my second visit to a different restaurant of the chain that boasts local organic, non-GMO produce. This is a newly opened restaurant and has quickly become very popular in the affluent Potomac suburb. We went there for a late lunch on Sunday, which was good, since the waitress informed us that the wait during lunch time was 2 hours.
We ordered their new Impossible Burger and avocado toast. Both were delicious and quite filling. The waitress was super friendly and the wait for the food was minimal. The restaurant has an open, cheerful look with quaint geese figurines hanging from the roof around a mysterious "blob" whose identity we debated for quite some time before setting on "brain" So the motif is "your brain on geese" Go figure...
Overall a great experience and a culinary delight.
My food was delicious and the service first class. I can't wait to go back again!!!
Great!!!! Can't put into words how good the food is!!!
Sunday Brunch: Packed House, nowhere to park, nowhere to sit, nowhere to stand, nowhere to go for an hour?!?
Parking was difficult, only two Handicapped spaces, both occupied. Interesting note: There are THREE parking spaces boldly marked "RESERVED" next to the Handicapped spaces, not being used.
Hostess: She is a Hero and is capable of herding felines across the Delaware River in the rain, to get there Rabies vaccination injections at an Annual Championship Dog Show in Madison Square Gardens.
Yes, she is that good. We had reservations for 12 people at Noon.
(BTW: All seated, menu'd, water'd, ready to dine at approximately 11:49AM)
UNtil Noon shall we 'Wait at the Bar?' Sure especially if you don't mind paying high dollar for a high quality beverage from a Bartender THAT deliberately ignores you, therefore making impossible for you to walk on the check or stiff them on a tip if/when you do get seated. (Your table is ready and it ain't going nowhere Famished Patron - Please Promptly Pay the tab, request the drinks be delivered and then Thank & Tip your Tender, our Hero 'The Hostess' will gladly wait).
Service came with a smile, skills, knowledge courteous and professional.
Food: Brunch Menu, just the facts. Manna from Heaven?
Bad Day For Beignets the few fully cooked were balls of dough infused with synthetic flavored non-stick cooking spray.
The other few - Generously filled with raw batter immediately snuffing your appetite.
The three little cups of Chocolate, Raspberry and Salted Caramel toppings was just enough to start a cold war between members of a peace loving family. Thankfully more arrived with only moments to spare.
Waffles cold, same synthetic non stick spray flavoring.
Chicken tenders OMG! Excellent.
Eggs, any style? Okay, could get the same at IHOP or Denny's for less.
Stuffed French Toast/Hash Dishes- They must have set off a synthetic tasting non-stick cooking spray bug bomb in the kitchen early this morning.
The finest selection of a la carte breakfast meats available
#1) Maple Ham - The best center cut, boneless piece of "The other white meat" I have had ever had. After the glaze cooled then coagulated and scraped off that morsel of meat was merrily masticated.
#2 )Thick Cut Bacon - Any flavor is fine, the bacon brightly shines thru.
#3) Regular Cut Bacon - Suitable for adults order it for your kids.
Even with reservations and smooth sailing from start to finish, coming and going when it's crowded and for Brunch it's always crowded this place is a hassle. Everything is over priced. Since the place is so popular with the in crowd, nobody wants to complain, let alone take the time to tell you the truth. They are not really there for the food (Perhaps an off day since the consensus for today was sadly hit or miss.
Now if someone wants to take you there and treat you to Brunch...
Go! Go! Go!
Everyone has a bad day now and again, when it happens to you remember it was not intentional or deliberate. If there is something not right with your order, they need to know, the sooner the better. Just respectfully communicate this to your Server and allow them to advocate on your behalf to right the wrong. The food was pretty good, but nothing special. It was definitely not worth the high prices they charge. The biscuit could have doubled as a hockey puck. It tasted pretty good, but it was hard as a rock. The service was absolutely terrible. We sat at the table for about 20 minutes and no one had come to the table. We eventually had to stop someone and ask for our server to be sent to the table. Once he finally came, he did a pretty good job. I would recommend skipping this place.
Really long wait. Slow service. Just not good enough food for the hassle
service great...food not so much..I'll leave it at that..manager did compensate us for the first plate of poor food...
Me, my husband, and our almost 2 year old just ate here tonight. We made a reservation a couple hours beforehand so luckily we didnt have to wait (I recommend this, as did their staff). It was a warm, friendly atmosphere and AMAZING food. The scallop and risotto dish was the best scallop dish I've ever had! I told my husband I thought I might actually cry when i finished my dish cause i was so sad there was no more left to eat!
My husband had chicken and waffles, which he also loved, and our son had some pretty great chicken tenders. Had the vanilla cheesecake and three warm cookies for dessert (chocolate chip, snickerdoodle and shortbread). Couldve eaten a billion of the chocolate chip. Everything was definitely 100% from scratch and delicious!
Our waiter Abu was also very polite, professional, and helpful, and the food came out promptly ( quicker than we expected too given how busy they were). In fact all the staff seemed pretty attentive and professional.
100% would recommend. Please go to this restaurant. It was great as a small family outing but also seems especially perfect for date nights!
Ordered a togo order and received the wrong order. I lived too far to bring it back. The food I had was descent. Its not what I would have ordered though so I may be biased
The food was absolutely delicious (kettle corn is a must-get as an appetizer) and the drinks were pre-Prohibition era (lots of gin choices) which was a cool concept. Our waiter was excellent (I think his name was Brandon) and knew the menu off the top of his head. The atmosphere was cozy and the decor fit the food very well. Overall, it was an awesome restaurant and I highly recommend it!
decent place, food was little better than bar food.
Awesome experience!
We came in here for a quick drink and coffee and had an awesome time. We walked in and were greeted by three very helpful hosts who explained the difference between the KOP Founding Farmers that we are used to and this one. They guided us to the bar and we had a lovely time drinking, enjoying coffee, and ordering desserts.
I don't get a very fancy drink but the bartenders really put a lot of care and labor into each of their specialty cocktails. They seem very experienced and even commented when they overheard us marveling over whatever drink they happened to be making.
All in all it was an awesome experience, I highly recommend visiting, even if just for dessert.
Great meal, a nice variety of cocktails, great service, and a very interesting menu.
Great farm to table with an expansive menu that doesn't disappoint. Bacon lollipops is a must. The steak and enchiladas was great. Good beer selection and extremely friendly staff. Must go for the area.
Their food was devine and delicious.
Would recommend to everyone.
Food is excellent. You can sit inside or out. Close to 270 so easy to get to.
Friendly Environment, great staff, awesome food! Chicken and Waffles are to die for!
Best brunch ever the waffle Is life will be back again very soon service was first class
And the management was very professional and kind
Fresh food. Cooked to perfection the service was also great.
Always delicious and staff is very patient and prompt.
Wonderful experience. From beginning to end. Thanks
Busy Busy, this place is popular. We had a 6:30 reservation and they said they were "running behind. It was almost 30 minutes later before we were seated. On the positive side, server was very nice and very efficient. food is relatively simple but pretty well crafted. Wide menu, and some good beers on draft. We liked it and would be back but not with crowds.
Food's good! Wait service was good. Bring money (wink, ).
Very expensive place, small portions, in general quality food! Terrible experience.
They treat delivery drivers like dirty peasants, meanwhile they treat customers like royalty.
The attention the service the super delicious food I recommend a breakfast in this restaurant is the best everything is fresh
Went for dinner one Saturday evening with my gf. We called up to make a resy for 7.45, Got there and the place was packed!!! Had to wait about 15 mins until we got seated which wasn't a problem.....Food came out quickly, and was pretty gd. Shared an app, a cocktail, each had a main dish and no desert,. Bill came to $60 total. Recommend the spicy chicken sandwhich
Party of nine...great service, great food all around. Love this restaurant. Bacon lollis are a must.
I've always wanted to visit Founding Farmer's when i moved to the DC-MD-VA area. And when i found out there's one closer to where I live, I immediately made reservations for my work team. Was I disappointed?
Absolutely not.
There are tons of vegetarian options. They have some good beer selection and the draft beers change with season. The ambiance is great. service is a bit slow, but its understandable since they're always busy. I would recommend going to this Potomac branch!!
The brunch options were big for the price points. The beignets were a very comforting starter, great on its own or with the sauces served with. I also got this drink called a Milkmaid's brew and boy was that delicious! I need to come back to try other offerings.
Busy place but service was great and the lemonade was awesome.
This is a great place for meetings. I am in a BNI group that meets here every Friday morning. Oscar, our server, does a wonderful job really taking care of us. The wifi needs to be greatly improved.
Good food. Always packed. Make reservations ahead or you ll have to wait a while to be seated.
So when it's your birthday you obviously need to go to a bunch of different restaurants lol, especially when you're new to the area. We came here as my final birthday dinner. The food was good and the portions were decent but the service was mediocre, I don't think we saw our waitress again after we ordered our food, she just came to drop off the check. I ordered a mule, like I always do and it was very good. They definitely know how to make their drinks, my other half never got a drink because the waitress never bothered to come back. For appetizers we did the deviled eggs, biscuits and the crab dip. I really love their crab dip and have ever since I went to brunch with friends early this year. The biscuits were delightfully light too, I wish we would of had more of those with the honey butter. For the entrees the four of us shared, because what else should you do when out with the family, right? We ordered the ham and apple Mac and cheese, the scallops, goat cheese ravioli with butternut squash and the shore style crab feast. I picked out the crab feast and I am glad I did because it came with a crab cake and fried chicken which were both very yummy. I also really liked the ham and apple Mac and cheese surprisingly because I'm pretty plain with Mac and cheese but it was light and not over bearing. The crab cake was up to par to the other seafood restaurants in the area and the scallops was cooked to perfection. Founding farmers is one of my favorite choices for brunch and now it's a contender for dinner even though I would probably go to a different location.
Delicious food. Server was awesome. This crab cake benedict hit the spot.
Don't bother making a reservation. Apparently the concept is lost on people who think the priority is to seat walk-ins first. I also wouldn't order a drink from the bar after watching the bartender get a little too comfortable with people's straws...
It was the worst brunch ever.... I order egg Benedict, it come with a very small portion of Benedict sauce and when I asked for more, they ask to charge me extra... my wife order medium steak , and it came burned... it is not worst at all to wait 40 min to be seated and have an untasted Meal... I even asked the waiter if I want to buy dark chocolate ( can I taste before buying) he said I will check and never come back.... I loved the atmosphere but unfortunately I will never come again.
Fire. Pancakes fire. Eggs fire. Coffee fire. Baguettes eh. Service fire. Great staff and food.
Will NOT go back . Food was awful. they charged $24 for overcooked, tasteless low quality meet, they called Rib eye steak. even the waitress new the steak was overcooked. overpriced, slow service and hostess couldn't be more unfriendly. will not go back. F
The food is good but we waited a long time to be served even for a waiter to check in on us. I order a coffee to start and never got it. I had to canceled it after 15 min waiting.
I have been to this location multiple times and have not had a bad experience yet! Great food and nice atmosphere!
Delicious week day brunch. Had the table buttermilk biscuits with the homemade preserves and honey butter. To die for. Also had he spinach and mushroom scramble. So good. Will definitely be back. The server was sweet and knowledgeable.
Great atmosphere. Delicious food. Well prepared and seasoned. We travelled fifty miles for the opportunity and it was worth the trip.
Great brunch options. They have a lot of traditional options on the menu with a nice twist (eg French toast with vanilla cream filling).
Steak is alright. I'd expect more tender and better quality meat.
Great food. Wonderful environment. You can carry on a conversation even at larger tables.
Food was great, had to go to another bar across the street to wait for table
Get the spicy fried chicken dinner! Good value for a family meal, we spend about $30 and got 5 meals out of it
Unfortunately the wait isn t worth it. Very expensive breakfast for average quality. Second time and last time. Best: fresh oj and bacon.
Nice atmosphere but the food is becoming overrated.
I ordered the Reuben Melt. To my surprise it didn't have sauerkraut. It had coleslaw. No description in the menu. I didn't like it, didn't eat it. I complained and the manager didn't charge me for it and offered to comp another entree. No condiments at my table. It took a long time for waiter to bring them after requested multiple times. I ordered a cherry coke from the bar. Waiter brought a cup of ice, a can of coke, and a shot glass of grenadine. He said "they weren't allowed to mix drinks themselves."
They don't have a kids menu.
I'd give 2 stars but the manager was accommodating.
Food was bland. Ordered chicken and waffles for the first time ever and the waffle was not sweetened or flavored in any type of manner. We have to ask for syrup which was overly sweetened. The chicken sizing was wonderful I got the spicy option. Overall the ambiance was really nice and I did appreciate the little touches they had for dinnerware. Initially the waitress was attentive and as the dinner went on she was less engaging. We had to keep asking that she bring items and refills to the table. She did not even check to see if we need anything periodically. The dessert was a bit oversized it was an apple pie and they flopped a huge helping of ice cream on top of it. The pie was more of a pot pie concept and not really giving you the authentic homemade apple pie. I have had store bought that tasted better. I have heard that their brunch is actually really nice however I am not interested in returning to give them another try. I am glad I went during restaurant week, money wasted!
Founding Farmers definitely did not disappoint! Our group recently came here to celebrate a couple of birthdays and our server (Benya?) was absolutely fantastic. The food came out quickly and the atmosphere was great. We'll definitely be coming back soon!
