I frequently dine at the DC location (which is my favorite) because it's within walking distance but my daughter and son in law made a reservation for this one recently. Naturally I was hesitant because I like the vibe of the city and have never been to this one. I called the restaurant and spoke with Emani who was very friendly but sadly wasn't in the restaurant when I dined. She mentioned I should write a yelp review but the experience was great enough i thought I'd write one anyway. She really sold me on this location and convinced me it was worth a shot. She recommended some appetizers drinks and desserts for us to try and we did and they were pretty great. Our server was very attentive but not annoying and was great at bringing our food out timely even though it was busy. We've even gone back a second time to try the dessert Emani suggested and it was great then too. I still like the DC one best but I wouldn't mind coming back to this one again.

Always enjoy a fresh and delicious meal at Founding Farmers. From the beverages to the appetizers to the main course anything on the menu is an excellent choice! There are plenty of selwctions, but nor overwhelming. Some of my favorites are the shrimp and grits, beef burgoo, salmon, deviled eggs, southern fried chicken and collard greens, any salad and a fat tasty burger. There are plenty of delicious healthy and vegan food options too...yum!

I order southern fried chicken home delivery tonight August 12, 2019 from Founding Farmers Potomac, MD. The kale was burnt and bitter. It had a bad smell. There were no sauces and mash was not tasty or well done at all. The chicken was only OK. I had the same order a week ago in restaurant dining in Potomac and the experience was totally different. Terrible experience - I am a very disappointed customer who will not order from you anymore. My daughters says her meal is good.

Ahi Tuna bites are a perfect light lunch snack! Great flavor! Tried the fried green tomatoes.. didn't like them... waiter was very kind and understanding took them off my bill immediately! Great atmosphere!!

Excellent bunch option and lunch/dinner. They have amazing biscuits, cornbread and Pancakes. The hangover hash is a must try. Egg benedicts options are great. Fresh and local produces and meats. You won't be disappointed.

went there for sunday brunch. very disappointed for the wait after my reservation time, along with the time it took to place an order, and get the food. we rarely seen the waitress. the establishment has too many tables and it seems very crowded which probably is the reason for the terrible waiting.

Borderline, terrible service. Twenty minutes after being seated on a slow Tuesday night, we had to call the hostess to have someone take our orders. Our starters came out quickly but our entrees took what felt like, forever. An hour after sitting there and talking about our life stories, our food came out. My waffle was as cold and hard as a rice cake in 18th century Slovenia. My wife's shrimp and grits just as cold. So after an hour of waiting for our food, we complained about the cold dishes and they prepared new fresh plates that were hot when served. My wife said her dish was bland, though I enjoyed mines despite my exasperation toward the chef and our cavalier, smooth talking waiter. After our meal, we both regretted the experience we had here. Took literally an hour to get our food and there was like nobody there

Food is expertly prepared - from the simple kettle corn up to dishes like squash ravioli.

Menu could probably use some paring down with a focus on fewer items.

Patio is nice, but seems new enough that wait-staff were a little disorganized.

Our first visit there was fabulous. Food and the young lady serving us was great. Last night we had the unfortunate experience of having Danny as a server and he ruined the experience of what should have been a nice New
Years Eve dinner. He was rude and actually added things to the bill I think hoping we wouldn t notice. Then said it was from the table that sat there before us(???) I have never written a poor review before this one but if you get this waiter ask for another It was awful

and actually added

Had the most horrible experience here. Went in with a friend, the waiter decided to give us time to talk and didn t show up for a good 30 minutes
I go looking for the guy so that we can order. He finally shows and we order quickly. I tell him I am Hypoglycemic and would appreciate urgency. He gives me the line saying I am the first in line etc etc
The food arrived a whole 20 minutes later. By this time I am having nausea and getting truly sick
I ended up throwing up in bathroom, as I walk out the staff there are upset they have to deal with it
I ended up leaving the restaurant just to get home and stabilize
I hope the management trains their staff to understand how to react quickly.

Everything here is awesome. Just order anything on the menu and you will leave satisfied. Definitely try the popcorn, corn bread, chicken and waffles and if you are sharing try the platter. I try to go to a founding farmers every time I m in the area.

Always super Crowded. I definitely recommend reserving a table!. The breakfast/brunch is really good. Best pancakes ever and really good chia bowl. Cauliflower steak is really good and the pastas too. It's one of our favorite places for any meal! If you want coffee get the 4cup French press. Never the 2cup! The 2cup one is really grainy.

I like this place because they take their drinks seriously. I like this place because they take their food serious. Most of all, I LOVE this place because they take their drinks SERIOUSLY! Each beverage is crafted with the skill of an artisan and has a unique personality. You'll want to meet each and every one of them, I assure you.

My main attraction to this fine establishment are the Dark n Stormy's. It will make you slap the person next to you, then immediately kiss them right after. I had become accustomed to the basic ginger beer and Goslings mixture of a traditional Dark n Stormy, but Founding Farmers puts a delightful twist on this antique cocktail. A drink this good makes me easily spend $100 on cocktails (which I have done at least twice so far).

Their food is fantastic. Complete, flavorful, and full bodied meals that will have you worshiping your sense of taste. I like to call it, 'Barnyard Chic'. The kind of food that you'd find gracing a farmhouse table, but also, modern enough for city-dwellin' folks.

Lucky for me, every time I've gone to FF, the wait hasn't been too long. I've always lucked out and gotten a seat at the bar. Great opportunity to have the bartender whip up something random or engage in some banter with the other guests or the bartender.

Im not sure if you've figured it out, but I adore this place and I HIGHLY suggest dining at any of their locations. Both of them are simply divine.

The host came off as rather rude and that was quite offputting when we arrived. Not upscale enough or crowded enough that they should require a reservation. We had a reservation only because we had called to make an unrelated inquiry, but being asked if we had a reservation while the restaurant was fairly empty (four tables in use) was silly. The food was great, table service was great. I prefer a dining location the feels welcoming and am not likely to return, but I would still recommend giving them a try

Ingredients are sourced locally or regionally when possible, great selection of meat and seafood (freshwater fish too) and super nice staff. The downtown DC location is a nicer spot to sit, but they both get full mark's on everything esle

I liked the ambiance of the restaurant. It was quiet and comfortable, but that may be the case because I went towards the end of the night on a weekday.

The waiter had zero personality and came off as pompous and/or indifferent. I was dining with two other individuals who are vibrant, all smiles, funny, and friendly individuals and yet he was very dry and dull. I hope this isn't the case with all the waiters at FF.

Every item of food I got seemed highly salted. The biscuit I got was salty, cornbread was salty, the sauce for the steak was liquid salt. I ended up eating the steak without anything. It was alright, but nothing to go bragging about.

They seemed to pride themselves about the freshly made sodas, but I wasn't wowed by them.

At the end of the day, not a restaurant I will go back to, BUT not a place I would go out of my way to avoid at all costs.

My first experience here was superb. I went here on a double date with some friends and my significant other for Valentine's Day. We went for breakfast. Surprisingly the portions were good and the food had flavor. Everything tasted fresh and preservative free. The menu has options for everyone. We are willing to try it again for the dinner that everyone raves about. It was also affordable.

There was a hair in the food. They exchanged it promptly with new food, but still. The steak was over cooked a bit. The waitress got everyone's sides wrong. Other than that the food was delicious.

It is hard to find a truly unique restaurant experience anymore. It is especially hard to find one with reasonable prices. But Founding Fathers does it. The food here is nothing like what you can get anywhere else in Maryland. The decor is immerse. The service is very friendly.

And you have to try one of their craft sodas. They are super cool and very good.

Amazing restaurant and amazing staff! I went today for my birthday lunch with friends and our waitress was very nice. The hostess was nice and seated us fast and the food came fast and hot. Thank you for everything. We sat outside and there were heaters and a tent. Very accommodating

The food was delicious, but geared for a sophisticated palate. Upscale, modern atmosphere, open and spacious, lots of room. Great place to meet friends.

Food is pretty good but it is nothing that you couldn't find somewhere else. When going there was expecting a much better dish than other places. Service was good but had to wait a while for them to first get our order. After that it went pretty smoothly. Will probably go there again.

The Sunday brunch was very enjoyable at MoCo's Founding Farmers. Even though the restaurant was packed, the services and foods were exceptionally good. The Hangover Hash, Protein Plate with chicken sausage, Steak and Eggs, and Spinach and Mushrooms Scrambled were all delicious and good values.

Ordered $40 breakfast to go, got home and no butter and no syrup for the French toast and waffle. Waffle was wet and rubbery, uneatable. Worst breakfast we ever had. Called the restaurant and girl was very sweet and said she understood, but didn't even apologize. We eat here often and never had this bad of an experience although the to go orders are always wrong and never up to par. I will never order to go again.

I consistently get cold food. I only go because my daughter likes it, and doesn't seem to have issues with the food like I do. The management will always correct the problem, but I just want to eat my dinner without asking for my food to be remade, it actually embarrasses my daughter so I wish it would just come out right the first time.

The Service was amazing! They make you feel welcome, know everything about the specials, and were helpful with recommendations! The Mac and Cheese was a million times better than I thought it could ever be! I also love the water bottle and glasses they give you :)

This is my spot. Everything is consistently good. I honestly don't know what the negative reviews are complaining about. I guess when something gets enough attention or praise there'll be people waiting to try to tear it down. I usually go for brunch or a special dinner.

Terrific wait staff! Highly recommend the iced tea, its refreshing and not bitter in the slightest. This is comfort food without weighing you down, and a great place for a variety of palettes. And great for family brunch to an intimate dinner.

Tried here out of the blue for brunch. The food was excellent but service spotty. I figured it was very business so understandable until we went back for lunch and it was pretty empty and the service was worse than when it was busy.

Any good food spotty sevice.

Food is good and mostly healthful. Table service was fine. I ordered the mushroom and swiss reuban that came with a "crop" side. I asked for the sweet potato, and the waitress responded, "that comes with the side salad, but we can substitute for extra." I pointed out the place on the menu where it said it came with a side. Instead of saying woops or sorry, she said that was a recent change in the menu and she guessed she could do that for me. We laughed it off, but then I was annoyed when the reuban came out as a mostly sauerkraut sandwich. The menu didn't even mention that it had sauerkraut in it, which is weird, because it's a very strong acquired taste. Further annoyed when we tried to use the restrooms before leaving: they were completely blocked off by a private party at the bar. When we informed the host, he shrugged and said we could try going around the bar, but the bartender wouldn't allow it and it really wouldn't have helped much anyway, since the bathrooms are in the center of the far side of the long bar, so we'd be attacking the same crowd just from a different angle. Also, the wine/beer options were way overpriced, like $14/glass.
