Great food, but very busy and crowded around lunch time on weekends. Definitely make a reservation so you don't have to wait an hour+. Even with a reservation, you may have to wait 10-15 min for people to clear out. It's nice that you can order from either the brunch menu or the lunch menu so you have a lot of options. The servers are friendly and attentive, and we didn't have to wait long for the food. The avocado bacon burger is a solid choice - it's huge and delicious.
This is a popular place. Hand crafted cocktails, farm to table menu. . .the biscuits are terrific, the ahi tuna poke salad outstanding, and great service. Plus, the breakfast selections are served with generous portions: you might think you would take half of it home, but it is so delicious, you wonder why there are no leftovers.
The food was excellent. We went at lunch on a Wednesday and they were seating people with reservations, so we just sat at the bar. I had a cheeseburger and my wife has the fried chicken. The fried chicken was amazing! We like that there were many vegetable options for sides.
I wish there was more info about the farms/farmers where the food is sourced. It's "farm to table" but it's unclear if anything is local.
Crab cakes with baked sweet potato and spinach for main course, prosciutto bread & cornbread for appetizers, all absolutely delicious. Service was extraordinary too!
Guest ordered bare burger with side of ketchup and mayo. Received bare burger with side of mayo and thousand island dressing. After 3 separate requests for ketchup, she finally received it on her last bite. Terrible service!
When I think of chicken and waffles I don't think of chicken tenders. What a disappoinment! And a strange spicy mix breading. I've had many good versions of this in DC, and this was the worst. They should have a better description in the menu.
Our order for other food had an error, but was ok. The service also wasn't great. It didn't feel like the food was worth the price. Too bad because I heard this place was good.
Great service! Ruby was extra helpful and knowledgeable on menu items. We had a coupon for a desert item we didn't realize had expired and the manager covered it without even asking! That's customer first!
Disappointed...I ordered chicken and waffles and it was good, but it only came with HALF a waffle and not a whole one. Plus inside seating upstairs was like a furnace!
This is one of my favorite spots. Everything is tasty. I especially like their kettle popcorn and garlic wings. This visit I tasted their sliders and French toast and I wasn't disappointed. The staff is courteous and accommodating.
A decent place, would have given a 5 if not for the fruit flies and other bugs bothering us at the patio seating. I think the patio seating is too close to the dumpsters.
Recently moved to the area and have been disappointmented by lack of GOOD food and founding farmers is our new favorite! Had a reservation and were seated quickly. Started with cocktails and cornbread and bacon lollis. Ordered ribs and small house salad and ribeye and mashed potatoes! All were excellent! Great service from Arianna. Took chocolate mouse home because we were so stuffed from dinner! Actually we took half our dinners home too! Large portions! Enjoyable experience. Will be back again to try brunch!
Great food, great drinks, great service. A lot of unique dishes I've never had before
Love it here! Saddle up at the bar, order a bone cocktail, and share a bunch of appetizers and flat breads with friends. Always a great time!
Founding Farmers is a great place. I had the chicken and waffles and I really enjoyed it. I would have liked a bit larger of a portion, but the size wasn t detrimental. As far as the service goes, they ve got that down. The waiters/waitresses know the menu and can speak to each meal; they are also very personable and welcoming. If you re looking for a bit above the casual vibe with good food and service, I think Founding Farmers is a solid option for you!
Wings are very very good oh my goodness and they give you allot of wings and the milkshakes are pretty good the bbqs sandwich is pretty good gumbo is pretty good want to try the fried chicken when I go back a little expensive you may need two wallet's
Incredible farm to table restaurant. I highly recommend it. The drinks are fantastic, too. Kudos to the mixologists.
Very pricey food but worth every penny!! The food brunch was so so good. Although I wasn t too impressed with the waiter, I did love the grits and the peach Bellini. The waiter barely communicated with my boyfriend and I and whenever I ordered something that wasn t available he would come back 15 minutes later when I m expecting my order.
Not what it once was. Appetizers were good we had bacon wrapped dates and deviled eggs. The entrees were over sauced but the brisket was tender under all that sauce. Scallops almost $30, comes with 4 actual scallops. Autumn vegetables could've used seasoning. Ordered a Moscow Mule that came to the table looking like a Margarita from Applebees. I was really blown away at how much lower the standards seem. Didn't help the waitress brought the wrong wine, the wrong sides, and left every single glass we touched on the table the whole night. Dessert was beignets that could have passed for jumbo Funnel cake balls, and extremely dry chocolate cake. For what the food costs, could have been a lot better.
Our family of 11 celebrated a birthday on Sunday and we can t begin to thank the entire staff enough for a nice, delicious and enjoyable meal.
Our waitress Erika was amazing. She was courteous, informative, happy and made the time we were dining a great experience.
The hostess gave us updates on our seating options and seated us as soon as we all arrived.
Our family ordered different items and everyone raved about the taste and presentation. The menu suggestions given by Erika were also spot on and so tasty.
The Apple Pie was the perfect finishing touch to our meal.
Thank you from our family for making the afternoon together so enjoyable and to Erika for being so wonderful. We will definitely be back again.
Always delicious. Great vegetarian options! The baked goods (esp the biscuits) are amazing.
We've been here several times. Founding Farmers is one of our favorite restaurants and it's one of the few places I've been where I almost always get something different and always L-O-V-E it. So it seemed fitting that we came in for Valentine's Day dinner. Frankly, the place should change its name to "Gluttony" because my hubby and I can't seem to leave without being completely and utterly stuffed to the gills. Last night we went in and tried to go a little lighter than the last time we came in for dinner.
We got the Farmers Chips, Cheddar Crisps and Dips as a starter and it was OK. I'm not a huge fan of kettle cooked chips, but hubby liked them and the dips were really tasty. I got the Southern Fried Chicken Salad for my entree and it was phenomenal. I've never gotten the fried chicken here and honestly I'm not a huge fried chicken person, but this chicken. Wow. It was a little spicy and a lot juicy and tender. M-m-m! Hubby got the Chicken Salad Salad and although he said it was good, he was very jealous of my salad!
We finished our night with an order of Uncle Buck's Beignets and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Those Beignets. Are. To. Die. For.
A few of my other favorites entrees are: Chicken Pot Pie, Angry Pasta and Chicken Bolognese with Bucatini. If you're here for brunch, get the Florentine with Spinach and Tomato Eggs Benedict. My sister, dad and husband all swear by the Fried Chicken and Waffles.
Also worth noting is our server: Kevin. This was the second time he was our server. He's super friendly and attentive, but not overbearing. If you're lucky, you'll end up in his section.
I was underwhelmed by Founding Farmers. The Potomac location looks good...but the acoustics are too loud. The food was decent..but pricey. The Thai chicken wings were very good. Deviled eggs were just okay. Skirt steak was a good spicy. They make a big deal out of everything being made from scratch.. even the sodas. Ordered a mango soda...which was tasty, but more ice than soda at $4 bucks. The waitress was a little over attentive and couldn't wait to clear my empty glass. At $4 dollars..let me enjoy the ice okay? I told her next time I'd order it with no ice. She told me, "Oh no, you'd get the same amount of soda even without the ice". Didn't make me feel better. Might as well have said "Oh no, you'd get ripped off just the same!". Founding Farmers was meh. I'd rather go to Largents Restaurant in in the Kentlands.
Amazing as always. Excellent vegetarian dishes and options. Staff is always friendly and prompt.
Went to this lovely spot around 9am. My friend and I were able to easily obtain outdoor seating. Both of our food looked and tasted amazing! I was particularly pleased with the cream filled french toast with blueberry compote. I was not aware it would come as three large french toast sticks, but it was a nice surprise and I absolutely loved it. Their fresh lemonade was also very tasty with a little sweet and a little sour.
I love the food here. The staff are very friendly. I have been to restaurants where they would not seat you until the entire party arrives and this location did not do that to me which was nice because I got to order my coffee and think about my order.
Ample amount of seating place inside and outside.
Welcoming staff members.
If you want to try vegetarian please try the impossible burger that is really good.
Usually crowded during the weekends so please make sure you make reservations before going.
I was not a fan. It was packed which I was hoping was a good thing. They are very large portions but the smoked bacon only tasted like strong smoke, my biscuit was bone dry, and my server was unenthusiastic the whole time. Looks like she hated her job. I will not be visiting the Montgomery county founding Farmers ever again.
Have had several negative experiences, but Founding Farmers is one of those places you can go to 100 times and still find something different on the menu and be surprised by how good it is. Drink specials like the flight and a shot and breakfast specials are my stand out favs. One of those places I'll keep going back too because I know they will keep trying.
Had the Impossible burger - very impressed, plus great selection of drinks! I love a good burger and everyone agreed it was up there with real prime beef - amazing it's a vegetarian option! Good range of beers and great to see some more independent drinks on the menu as well rather than the same old brands.
Bourbon French toast was delicious! The chicken apple sausage was too dry for my taste. Husband liked the chicken and waffles.
Excellent food (why doesn't the google review ask me to rate that???). We sat outside on the patio. It is very nice, but was incessantly windy on that particular day. Service was friendly and attentive.
All american place with great cocktails and ample of parking as compared to the downtown location
I went through the process of ordering through DoorDash for pick up and was unable to pay with a FF gift card through the service so I called the restaurant to order pick up. I was told I d have to come in to the restaurant to order! They wouldn t accept my order over the phone! With 3 small children under the age of 4, that is not an option. Seriously, Founding Farmers? You ve lost a patron.
Personable server, my salad was great, and my friends really liked his mail tai. Overall had a nice atmosphere
Always a treat! Food never disappoints! Atmosphere is fun and lively! However, still laid back enough to enjoy your meal without interruption. I always have a great time here!
This place has pretty flexible hours and always has a few unique things on both the food and drink menus. It has, however, lost some of its excellent service experience over the time its been open.
When it first opened I liked it much better than I do now. Today its more of the local last-ditch for a 930pm dinner.
Awesome place my daughter love it, I have been at the DC location and this one is much better service and location speaking, the food still very good as all Founding Farmers.
We went here for an office dinner recently. Nice place. Good ambience, food is good and their non alcoholic beverages are pretty good. Nothing like some of the other places where they get too watered down. Have got positive comments from friends and colleagues as well. They could do well to expand their menu and add some more vegan options. Current options are kind of limited. But the ones that are there are good. Definitely recommend the place
Slow but enthusiastic service, amazing cornbread. My husband loves the scratch sodas and I always order a cortado. Food and drinks were very good.
Great cocktails, food, and service. A must visit place.
Friendly serving staff. Good food. portions are big. Hostess was just ok.
Had a good lunch with friends. Would recommend.
Great food with great atmosphere!! Place to be when you have something to celebrate, or even when simply looking for a nice place to eat. Just make sure you make reservation. Very crowded most of the time.
We visited with a group of 12. Service was friendly, but a bit slow and confused. Items requested multiple times. Food was excellent!
The Yankee pot roast is excellent. The beef and gravy sits on a bed of mashed potatoes surrounded with small carrots, celery, and potato chunks for added texture. Also, the crab and artichoke dip served with large toast is amazing. The dip is large enough for 7 people to try.
This is one of the amazing restaurants in the Potomac area, the food is absolutely fresh hospitality was on point service was awesome great atmosphere, I was with a party of four people no one had a complaint, we all love the food and the timely service, the restaurant was very clean. You have to visit this Wonderful extinguishment.
Let the good food roll....... They got everything but the kitchen sink at this fabulous restaurant!
Amazing Breakfast!! Amazing Lunch, everyone should try it!
I have been hearing great things about Founding Fathers and finally had a chance to dine there. We had a wonderful birthday dinner there. I enjoyed the meaty lightly sauteed crabcake with mustard sauce, and sauteed spinach. It was delicious. Great friendly service.
5 stars food and 4 star service. Great brunches, lunches and dinners. We ate Thanksgiving dinner here one year too. Good Rib Eye and delivery via services too.
Spectacularly mediocre. Busy lunch on a Saturday afternoon, waited a bit over 10 minutes to sit down. Drinks came right away, we ordered, and then,,,,,,,,,,nothing for about 20 minutes until a plate of biscuits arrived. They were the highlight of the meal. My prime rib sandwich was warm and a bit too chewy. The french fries (thin strips) which should have been hot and crisp were barely warm and limp. My wife's grilled cheese and tomato soup were alright, but everything was a bit salty. I would try it again at another time to see if it's better, and if not I would just move on. Service was slow, the atmosphere is comfortable yet Pretentious (yes, with a capital "P"). They would do well to spend more effort on cooking and service instead of lecturing their customers about how everything they do is so freakin' "sustainable."
Each visit to Founding Farmers has been exceptional. Service, food, drinks, and dessert are all wonderful. Could not recommend more!
I come here regularly and have never been disappointed. Chicken and waffles are excellent, chicken pot pie is excellent. Those are probably the only things I've had for lunch/dinner because they are both so good. Sunday brunch is good stuff as well, the largest french toast I've ever had - and quite tasty. I've had the beignets for desert and enjoyed them, mixing the chocolate sauce with the raspberry is glorious. Bacon wrapped dates are a good appetizer. Entree portion sizes are pretty generous.
Drink wise they have a decent beer list and an excellent cocktail menu. It's no longer on the menu but, if you are feeling kind of frisky, ask the bartender for a 'Streetcar Named Decanton'. Still my favorite cocktail in the world, several years after my first experience.
We eat here a lot more because of the convenient location. The food is good/great and the customer service is pretty good. Overall a great go to for an elegant tasty meal.
Great place to get lunch the menu has a lot of options for everyone....
Easily some of the most delicious food I've had in a long time! WELL worth the hour drive
This is one of my favorite places to eat you have a very wide variety of food to choose from everything from prime rib to gourmet hot dogs. The servers are professional and polite and I can't wait to go again
A good cocktail and a tasty morsel place. hint: the chicken wing appetizer is what brings us here.
Always a great time here, food is fresh and homemade sodas
Love the brunch offers breakfast and lunch food is great friendly staff.
Food was excellent, "all the way up" the drink was different and good. Waffle with banana Foster was crunchy and delicious.
I had heard about this restaurant from a friend so I decided to go for my birthday. One of the best experiences ever! So glad we went and tried it out. It is a bit on the expensive side, but so worth it!
Our sever Fatima was amazing! She answered all our questions (and we had a lot) and even recommended some things that she herself had tried and liked. We ordered an appetizer, Steak & enchiladas, and the crab cakes. Everything was delicious! The sweet tea was addictive, I had like 6 of them! She even gave me one to go since I liked it so much!!
The serving sizes were very decent, and I even had some left over (most likely because of al the tea I was drinking). We sat outside and the weather was also amazing.
Highly recommend.
This location is slightly less packed than the downtown spot and every bit as delicious--if not even more. Try the stuffed French toast for breakfast and you'll be full all day!
Bad smelling napkins and water glass. One star is for poached eggs, pretty good. Eggs Benedict wasn't tasty, not were the beignets.
