I don't like animals in captivity, however the Bioparco is very well cared for and the animals seem to be doing well
Great place to spend the afternoon with the kids. The zoo looks great. The only thing that can use some improvement are the restaurants...the food/ snack options are not very good. Nothing healthy to eat
I found the 20 Euro entry fee per person pricey and didn't see the exhibits as a result. The staff at the ticket counter seemed to hate their jobs and were unenthusiastic and bored. My understanding is that a good portion of the zoo features farm animals so I don't feel I missed much :s
This is a pretty nice zoo located inside of a great park to spend some time in before or after your visit. It is quite easy to make your way around and has a decent variety of animals from all continents, though mostly Asia, Africa, and Europe. It was not especially busy or crowded when we were there which is always nice.
The animals had very small places and they looked extremely miserable. Half of the places where closed and none of the cafes or restaurants where open while we where there. Saddest zoo I've ever been to.
This zoo is pretty comfortable to walk around with plenty to see. The price isn't too bad though it's a little hard to get to down those tiny winding streets. I wish the food inside the zoo would accept credit cards. Make sure to bring euros! They do regular feedings to get the animals to come out and move around so you can get a nice view.
I like this place. If you travel with kids in Rome you should come here.
Very nice, well maintained, lots of space dedicated to animals that can move freely in an appropriate environment ... we went with my three year old son and was thrilled !!!
Nice, the signs explain very well, but the greenery and the structures could be more cared for !!!
Il giusto posto per passare una giornata insieme alla propria famiglia/amici... Ottimo per conoscere la maggior parte degli a animali
The beauty of the Animal kingdom .. well-kept and perfect place to introduce animals to the little ones.
It is a nice Biopark, I appreciate the fact that the spaces are much wider than other parks I have visited, it is rich in species and has many activities to bring the public closer and sensitize. It can be visited very well in summer since being full of trees and vegetation it is sheltered from the sun and there are many dining options
The Rome Zoo is really good and it is getting better day by day. It is a pleasure to walk around
A beautiful day in a special corner of the bourgeois villa ... The biopark is really big and you can shoot it in about 4 hours also because you often stop to take pictures ... I visited the park I Easter Monday for which day very busy with families however I noticed that everything was very clean. A beautiful alternative day
Immense park. Price entry expensive and internal refreshment even more expensive. Some slightly small cages and animals suffer. Other fences hardly visible especially for short children. Maintenance and renewal necessary
Beautiful to spend a different day and see the animals, which seem to be well and happy.
There are many drinking fountains around the park and this helps a lot in hot weather.
Was a great zoo! Cute little train perfect for children, free roaming peacocks too! The cafe is cheap to eat in! Had a hot dog and paninis available, feeding shows only on weekends
Honestly, I expected more.
The animals are not visible completely, but can only be seen through some (in some cases) very small windows .. and when there are many people it is hard to see ... or better, you have to queue.
In a couple of hours the complete tour of the park takes place.
Bathrooms in very bad condition .. while the rest of the park is very clean.
One of the biggest Zoo I have visited ever, if not the biggest, the tour offers a unique experience and would recommend for anyone who stays more than 1 week in Rome.
Took us around 5 hours to explore. You get a handy map when you enter showing where all animals are and a guide so you don't miss anything. Lots of interesting and exotic animals that we haven't seen before. Even poisonous frogs and lots of rare insects. Would definitely recommend but be sure to wear insect repellent as we got bitten badly at this zoo, perhaps by midges.
The zoo was amazing. Wide range of animals and lots of bathrooms.
The cages were mostly suitable for the animals, but some could be bigger.
The park was clean and it was lots of fun.
We got to get selfies with the bears. And the hippos were very active.
100% worth the 14 euros and I would recommend.
It is a super nice and nice place the animals have some nice and big cages, the elephant could well use a mate and some more space otherwise the animals have good space and opportunity to activate, you can also come across reptile land which is part of the park. It really is a place I will visit again is very impressed. You have to bring food and there are picnic areas where you can eat your food. Visited 18/10-19 at 14-18 We could easily spend more time in there.
You can spend all day here. It's a pretty good zoo. Better than London zoo, not as good as Amsterdam zoo. The Japanese Macaques are hilarious. The big cats wake up at dusk.
Definitely the largest zoo I have ever seen. I visited the biopark recently in one afternoon, from about half past one until closing time (5.00 pm), but I can say that it was not enough for me to calmly see all the animals, also considering the fact that unfortunately these are collected in their cages already about half an hour before the park closes. Unfortunately many animals were not there although they appeared on the map, but this was compensated for by the fact that there is still a great variety of different animals to see. I recommend visiting the park from the morning, also inquiring about the times of some activities that are announced through speakers such as meal times in the various cages.
Nice spot for a quiet and shaded walk, especially if you have little kids with you and the streets of Rome are a bit too much! It s big enough to spend half a day here if you re moving at toddler pace. There are a few different playgrounds - all good ones - if your children tire of looking at animals. Just beware that the two cafe-kiosks inside the zoo were not open when we went on a Monday in September - only the cafe that s outside the zoo exit/gift shop was open. So, come armed with water and snacks.
In terms of the animals, some enclosures were nice and the animals seemed content. Others were not so good; it was sad to see a female lion just walking in circles.
Very nice park in Villa Borghese, you can find all kind of animals.
A joy for the kids, highly recommended for families.
Nice to see live the feeding of the different animals at different times of the day.
A cosy zoo. Good for walks wiith children. Has a train which goes around and starts every half an hour.
Good place for family. Good size zoo. Not far from center city.
The zoo itself had amazing animals in but i felt sorry for them. None looked happy or well looked after and was dirty. The monkeys had bad fur. All animals surrounded by electric fences. And most animals were seperated so alone. Enclosures for the larger animals (tigers, elephants) not big enough.
Park full of people despite the Covid19 emergency. Assemblies everywhere without any control, people without masks everywhere despite being mandatory on the park regulations.
Too bad, it would have taken little for a better organization.
Despite the obvious problems caused by the coronavirus with forced closure of some areas, it is always a pleasant place to visit, especially for children. The animals do not seem as stressed as in other sites and the quota of the entrances makes the visit relaxing and not chaotic
Great place for a walk and hiking. Lots of stock to see.
The park is open all days of the week, from 28 October to 29 March The park is open from 09.30 to 17.00 The last entrance to the park 16.00 from 30 March to 26 October, The park is open from 09.30 to 19.00 The last entrance to the park at 17.00 on Saturday and Sunday Holidays are from April 20 to September 28. The park is open from 09.30 to 19.00. Tickets are 8.50 for adults, 6.50 for children from 3 to 12 years, for older people over 60 on Wednesday only for free, and for children under For 3 years, the disabled have free admission to the park every day of the week.
Great break from crowds - even for a family with teenagers. Well worth an hour or two if you're sick of ancient Roman ruins.
Very nice biopark with a variety of wild animals of almost every species
It was a sad experience. The zoo is tiny, the enclosures are far too small for the animals and they put them inside little houses about an hour before closing. There was one elephant, the lions were skinny and pacing in a corner and it was just a reminder of how zoos were in the 80s. Rome really needs to invest in their animal welfare! So sad.
A beautiful place to make the animals know the beauty of biodiversity and help species in danger of extinction. But in my opinion it is a very expensive place if you pay a 10 euro ticket for a 3-year-old. For a grown-up 16 euros a little bit even if it is a little high but for a child of 3 and too 10 euros and too much.
Cute little zoo. My favorite section was the monkeys playing funny near and in their pool. lol
Nice view of animals. There was a lot of benches. The animals seem happy. Not so many animals as in Berlin or Wein. Cute lemurs and seals.
We had a great time at Bioparco. The zoo is very compact but well-curated and has a rich selection of animals.
The zoo is very small and quaint in a charming way. The layouts are much like they are in the United States, and for the most part carry similar animals like they do in smaller cities. If you are coming to see rare exotic animals you will be disappointed. If you are wanting a more personal, and quick experience this is definitely worth the stop.
Very good location, kids love it, glad was clean, animals were relaxed, prices are a bit high,
A bio-park that uses combustion means makes you smile, dirty with leaves and brushwood everywhere ... well ... there is so much to improve
Animals very active ,
Well done
Reptile section is a must see if you visit this park!
Amazing zoo for being so close to the city centre, very cheap entry fee for such a big zoo, took 3 hours to see it all. Very impressed. If travelling from metro. Get the MA from Termini to Flamino and have a lovely walk through the park.
Wonderful zoo full of clean spacious animal exibits. Easy to follow flow and maps. Very clean, multiple entrances and clean bathrooms. Good choices for wallet friendly food an beverages. Multilingual staff are friendly and informative. 19 Euro per adult.
A beautiful park surrounded by greenery. ...
Very large and gorgeous. .. entry is not expensive ....
But it deserves all the attention of the children. .... the children will have fun
I recommend them
Picnic area inadequate for the flow of people in the park
I really liked the Roman Zoo, very clean, comfortable. The price on-line for a particular day is slightly cheaper than at the box office. Children below a meter are free. We walked from the Spanish Steps, admiring the panoramas, through the park of Villa Borghese - very beautiful, especially in fine weather! All cafes (the terms are indicated on the site) specifically in January 2020 are closed for repairs. There is parking.
Animals are groomed. The territory is compact. Satisfied!
Great day out with children's, really lots of fun, huge play area, many animals etc.
Old both enclosures and facilities, lots of enclosures where empty, some where overgrown, several places to eat were closed. The toilets were incredibly dirty.
Always interesting and well kept. Only the cleaning of the windows should be improved, which sometimes hinders the animals' vision a lot. This year we went back to see Aasha and Naischa ... lovely!
Very sad. Animals look unhealthy and enclosures are not big enough or up to par.
Great place to learn about animal species of all kinds.
Historic zoo in Rome, ideal for spending a day of leisure with the children
Very nice well looked after zoo in the middle of Rome. Animals looked well looked after and not bored. Nice bit of quietness in the middle of such a bustling city.
We (two adults) enjoyed the zoo. Ik think we spent 3 hours there. There were elephants giraffes, though in small numbers, probably 3 giraffes etc. Or the others were inside who knows. I had a lot of fun observing the animals. The zoo looked good. And if your feet are tired you can take a train that goes through the park. I don"t know if that is fun. Because we didnt do it. It costs 1.50 i think a train ride.
My boyfriend and I are huge zoo lovers and have visited almost all zoo s and natural parks in Europe. This one has been by far the worst: VERY smelly, limited space for animals who by the way seem very unhappy and unnaturally thin. You can literally see their bones through the skin/fur. Would NEVER recommend this to anyone.
Awesome zoo, great place to have a walk with kids...I've spent there 3,5 hrs...and didn't manage to see all animals :)
A looove that you can watch how the animals are fed ;)
Immersed in the greenery of Villa Borghese it is simply gorgeous. Every time I travel with the family and we go to a city with the zoo we go to visit it. So I have seen a lot of zoos, but I can say that certainly the bio park in Rome and among the three most beautiful that I have ever seen. Very large, clean, courteous staff. There were not many people so it was nice to be able to visit the animals very calmly. Equipped with picnic and play areas for children. Equipped with interactive areas for children near the animal cages. Good variety of animals. Really large and clean cages. Animals treated well and it was evident that they were well and relaxed. Also as a fairly good price with numerous discount possibilities (see the website under conventions). So surely if you are in Rome, spend a few hours with your children in a place where they can meet and see animals that can hardly be seen in freedom.
One of fee activities in Rome that the kids will enjoy. Lot of animals and special tropical zone with unique reptiles.
Entrance is 16 euro and 13 for kids.
Worth the money.... Minimum 2 hours but recommended more.
There are few clean toilets and few coffee shops and restaurant.
It is a place I visited many years ago. Now it looks very different ... Many areas in the shade that are decidedly necessary in this period, but the refreshment areas are not very functional ... Perhaps due to covid all the kiosks are closed. Too bad that at the info number they give incorrect information. Yesterday Food and beverage outlets were opened and picnic areas closed ... today the exact opposite was the case.
Wonderful for the children even if we have taken a lot of rain, there are no shelters
We toured the park in the opposite direction from the usual tour and found it very nice and clean, well cared for and pleasant. It is an immersion in nature and its sounds, incredible to think that you are in the heart of the chaotic capital!
The animals are all clean and well kept, as demonstrated by the fact that different species show off their puppies were born in the park, and some are always admired even during breastfeeding intimacy offering unique emotions! All wonderful until you reach the area dedicated to wolves and great apes.
Wolves are truly sacrificed in a ridiculous space, I have seen 4 in a space that would have been just enough for the same number of hunting dogs; wolves in the wild have a vast hunting area, it really is a pain to see them go back and forth with making obsessive, bored and nervous, visibly to the limits of endurance.
In front of the fence of the great apes I almost started to cry: two beautiful creatures apathetic, lethargic, with the blank stare ... abandoned and unused games by saddest animals I've ever seen. Even when one of the attendants jelly has repeatedly stimulated Martina to get up, to go to meet the food, nothing ... the animal did not respond either to the primary sense of hunger, his sister in the meantime had moved to the food, she nothing ... continued to stare into space and give some slight hint of annoyance.
What a magone!
It seems incredible that a few meters from there the smallest happy little monkeys carry their puppies while here ... what a desolation! Perhaps it would be to review their presence in the park, as well as that of the wolves ... if the environments are forcing the animals in a state of true captivity maybe you should dedicate to other animals who are content rather than segregating creatures so smart ...
Other than that, a really nice experience, but with a really bitter ending ...
Wonderful experience for children and families, with lots of animals from different areas, the chance to watch them during lunches offers amazing scenes and the passionate personnel describes the habits and features of the single animal you meet. I'll come back soon!
Beautiful Place for have a different Day If you like animals and people that Love animals
