Nice spot for a quiet and shaded walk, especially if you have little kids with you and the streets of Rome are a bit too much! It s big enough to spend half a day here if you re moving at toddler pace. There are a few different playgrounds - all good ones - if your children tire of looking at animals. Just beware that the two cafe-kiosks inside the zoo were not open when we went on a Monday in September - only the cafe that s outside the zoo exit/gift shop was open. So, come armed with water and snacks.
In terms of the animals, some enclosures were nice and the animals seemed content. Others were not so good; it was sad to see a female lion just walking in circles.
