Very nice and well cared for, the only critical point would be the fountains with drinking water
Very nice and well cared for, the only critical point would be the fountains with drinking water
Rome is so full of history. It's so hard to not to miss it.
It s good place to spend time and to have a look to a different kinds of animals
Only for sadist beings that enjoy to see animals mistreated. Enjoy
Nice place, just need more place where find food with enough employees
Excellent experience for children, a little expensive for the ticket 16 euro adults
Awesome experience with so many exotic animals definitely one for the memoirs!!!!!
The biopark is as usual unmissable, beautiful, well-kept animals, lots of greenery .... All impeccable ..... Only note .... That prevented me from giving 5 stars ..... Despite the site you talk about contingent entrances ..... as soon as we entered we got a hit, lots of people ...... Too many people ...... Or better it would take staff in some areas ..... Which enforce distances. Example on the giraffe bridge people were stuck and seen emergency covid is absolutely not good ....
A zoo with a human face. Animals not stressed in large and suitable enclosures, in a beautiful park. Recommended for children who have interesting and engaging educational itineraries, but pleasant for everyone.
Little space for the animals... this is not a bio park, is jus a regular zoo who needs a lot more work :( it was a sad experience
We loved this zoo! One of the coolest reptile houses I've seen.
Most zoos in europe dont have the elephant. But this one does infact a few ( 3 or 4). Childrens definately want to see that one.
Mediocre zoo, nothing special. Both the zoo and the animals appear to be well taken care of.
What a lovely place to visit. Loads of animals to see. We didn't take children but it would be a lovely place for them. The park is nicely tucked away and didn't have many tourists which was a nice change. It only lost a star due to the cafe being closed for renovation so there was nowhere to get a coffee or a bite to eat.
Located in the beautiful Villa Borghese (where parking is free) the Bioparco zoo reeks of faded glory. The gates alone make you feel you re entering a lost world of Victorian zoology. The sensation continues as you move around the zoo. Most of the animals seemed happy enough and there is a great exhibit about preventing the smuggling of exotic animals (and other diverse items, including fake organic jam). A lot of the enclosures did appear small to us though. In particular the seals seemed a bit miserable. We watched the daily seals show; and the keepers didn t seem to be at all engaged with the animals, or with us. In response to whistling and in exchange for fish, the seals did a few tricks and came out of the water to have some rudimentary checks. The keepers spoke neither to us nor the seals (nor even to each other). Perhaps it is best for seals not to have a huge amount of engagement from their keepers, but I felt sorry for these highly intelligent and (in the wild) highly active animals; confined to a small leaf-filled pool with little to engage their busy brains. Similarly the small Asian elephant seemed somewhat forlorn. Perhaps we should have given it a miss, but we do love a good zoo. I m just not sure this is a good zoo.
There was a wide range of species and had very good educational pieces on poaching and domestication throught. However, some enclosures may need an update as are a bit old, but otherwise it was brilliant for a city zoo.
Well-kept, attentive to both animal and human well-being, a paradise for children
Off the tourist track a little but a great day out. Absolutely loads of animals and all look very well looked after. The ticket booths work on a "take a number system" just remember to grab a number and look at the screens above the ticket booth if don't speak Italian. We went September 17, wouldn't recommend using the toilets in the zoo, would try and go somewhere before hand, they can be unpleasant.
Although much improved compared to the past the animal welfare is still a bit hit and miss. Some enclosures are spacious and well maintained where others are crammed and neglected. Chronic absence of refreshment options inside the Zoo, so make sure you take supplies or stock up before going in.
We love going to the zoo but we have some remarks regarsing Biopark Roma.
They don't utilise their space properly. There were big areas not in use. Some of the inclosures were too small for the felines and birds. There were also some empty cages with no information of the missing animals.
An intense and very pleasant day spent at the Bioparco in Rome.
Located in the center of Rome, in a large area, it can be easily reached from the main arteries of the city. Parking is easy and the path to get to the entrance is pleasant and well structured.
Few queues at the entrance, very large interior spaces throughout the biopark.
Great cleaning and care of the flora and fauna; the animals are all toned up and well fed. Particular attention also to the microclimate of some environments, necessary for the good survival of certain species of animals.
I recommend everyone, especially families, to spend a whole day in the complex, both for the vastness of the rooms and for the pleasant atmosphere.
Nice for children ... Green is definitely worth taking care of
Wien, Zurich, London, this are phD zoos in comparison to Bioparco. There is a lot to improve.
Nice looking zoo/park- worth bringing your children on a visit.
All the comments here about the park being small or the animals looking mistreated must have been before a change of ownership. The park we visited was beautiful with all the animals given more than enough space and care. It was a steal for how little entry cost. Our only advice woukd be bring your own food (there were food stalls though most were closed perhaps because it was a wednesday) and watch out for mosquitos.
This place is r ally nice in everything, it s clean all animals in good condition, big space between every section for animals,
It s not smelly at all, their is cafes, playgrounds for kids , the garden is so big you can stroll around it have lots of picturesque places in, kids will enjoy this place so much, same as the whole family will do also teens will. Good diversity of animals and easy to find in the city. However, we did notice the animals enclosures were very small with animals such as tigers in very small enclosures. It was great to vizit Roman Zoo. Very good exhibition of animals ,very good separated . It has a white tiger, primate and many others. Terarium's is one of the best I've ever seen.
Tickets only online .... It's not written anywhere ....
A walk among the animals of the world: from giraffes to penguins, from bears to poisonous snakes. A fascinating journey among the animal species of the planet that is tinged with melancholy if you stop to think about the reasons why these living beings are not free in their natural environment.
Beautiful, fun and interesting. Too bad we didn't manage to see tigers and lions, access was closed
...because the pink flowering cherries are now opening...
Nice little place to retreat from all that sculptures. LOL.
We ve seen this ZOO as a nice getaway, especially found interesting watching seals being fed, they ve made pretty much a live show.
Brilliant. Enclosures are good and spacious. Loved that there weren't many viewing places for some animals, to stop stress. Fab price too!
Can you pay over there? Or do you necessarily need the online fate ticket?
Beautiful reality in the heart of Rome inside Villa Borghese.
The Bioparco as a whole is well kept, the animals have enough space to not feel too "caged".
I am aware of the greatness and enormous work involved in maintaining such a structure, but there are some corners that would need some extra attention.
Tickets do not cost much ( 16 full price) if one takes into account all the costs necessary to keep the animals healthy and the infrastructure of the park is kept well, plus the costs for all personnel.
Honestly, I would focus more on the catering aspect. It is true that most of them carry packed lunches but beyond a diner, which is hardly publicized, and there is nothing else in some bars.
Overall, maximum evaluation for one of the few noteworthy offers in the capital.
A nice place where relax and enjoy the beauty of nature
The Bioparco is a place that deserves to be visited, it is preferable in the months of September, October or April, May. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. The spaces equipped for games and picnics are pleasant.
Very large, varied and well-kept zoological park compared to the average of the structures present in Italy.
Ottimo gli animali sembra che non soffrano non denutriti
Nice and quite place at the center of Rome. Good place to spend half of day and it would be very intersting for childern.
Fun and informative. It's very important to try to attend feeding times since the staff not only help gather the animals for viewing but also explain a lot about the species as well as the specific animal traits present amongst the ones in the enclosure.
I liked the fact that is in the middle of Villa Borghese. Nevertheless I hate and dislike that so many animals are stressed and kept in small cages!!!
May not be the best in Europe, but a cozy zoo with lots on wild animals. The reptiles house is awesome and a must see. Lots of stores and picnic areas and the park toilets are well kept.
Great experience .... little entertainment for children ... but maybe just because of the covid .... cmq very recommended ...
It would take more water points, but the day goes by pleasant.
I thought it was like country zoos quite seedy but I know or had to change my mind, really big zoo with a large number of animals even some very rare species. To visit.
Great zoo. Not too big but with a great variety of animals, well laid out
The zoo is sized just right, not too big so it gets tiring and not too small so it you'd be out in no time. It is laid out well so you don't have be going back and forth to see everything. Beware that a lot of attractions and exhibits are closed in winter (penguins, alligators were absent). None of the catering places inside the part worked, save for the occasional vending machines. There were no animal shows going on either.
Best tiger I ever saw. So cute, so close, in front of me.
Lots of animals and lots of things to see. In the park there are refreshment points and toilets (not worthily cleaned ...) scattered here and there. Pleasant visit and affordable price. Near some animals there are "interactive" explanations of their characteristics. Some places were closed and poorly maintained and other refreshment points were dilapidated shacks to be demolished and a lot of abandoned and dark points. Green kept pretty well. Mediocre park conditions. A pond (if it was a pond ....) with the ducks had water covered with green slime .... the ducks seemed to swim on a lawn ... bears instead come close to the glass and it's a show! Long walk and afternoon spent quietly. To visit for sure but to go back I would say maybe!
Great zoo. Nice selection of animals, big and small. They have a siberian tiger and a tapiro. Two animals I had never seen in a zoo. They have lots of bathrooms. The only thing is that they do not have a lot of places to eat and a small selection of food. You can bring outside food in
There are no cages and the animals have enough space to move. The place is an oasis of greenery and tranquility where you can go with the children to teach them to love animals and nature. There is also a picnic area and many dining options. Beautiful cats, wolves and the small Komido dragon. I advise
Nice place but the habitats of the animals are not always adequate to their needs in fact all those accustomed to low temperatures all exhausted by the heat since their area is not refrigerated, for the rest there is a lack of manpower in general. In any case it must be said that the staff is very nice and helpful.
Wonderful place for young and old. You can admire many animals. The reptile house is very beautiful. Modest price 10 euros each if bought online from the official website, instead of 16 euros.
Bioparco di Roma, very nice, all in all the animals are well kept, apart from some species it has too narrow spaces! Being under the covid period you can only book online, so far so good! The only thing is that if you do not give me the opportunity to buy the ticket on the spot, they must remove the presale euro per person, otherwise ok.
Children lived it, very good experience, lots of animals and nice park walking.
Had a great day all staff were friendly and helpfull. Would recommend visiting. On site vendors were reasonably priced and food was tasty.
Beautiful but to be revised a little the directions and the various signs made a little bad
A wonderful little piece of nature in the middle of Rome, and would be an excellent activity for young children. However, compared to other zoos there was quite a small amount of animals.
It is true that animals do not have to stay in cages, however many of these would not have a long life if left in the wild. The park is well kept, the staff courteous. .
Enclosures are large with good room for the animals to roam. Good selection of animals to see too. Only down side is that it closes at 5 and not 6 like the website says and the reptile house closes at 4. Over all it's good way to spend an afternoon.
1.5-2 hr zoo
Nice set up and some good exhibits
An enjoyable day, the zoo had many great animals and enclosures with signs in English and Italian! All but one food stall was closed. Be warned, seagulls will attack you for your food, be careful!!!
Perfect place for a relaxing afternoon with the kids
Spending a day at the Bioparco is a wonderful experience, to do if you have some time in Rome. It is not cheap but the Biopark is very large and there are many animal species. In addition, at certain times it is possible to attend the delivery of the meal by workers to some animals, such as lions, monkeys, tigers, etc.
I haven't been in a zoo for years, I must say that for a different day it can be done.
The only thing to do the ticket in advance, on the park portal. Cannot be made on site.
A beautiful place to go with the family. Well maintained and varied
Wild animals do not belong in the cages. I do not visit zoo's.
Well organized path, many refreshment areas, nice for children ... you walk a lot, it took us 4 hours to see all the animals ...
Beautiful zoo in the heart of Rome .. many species of animals to see for adults and children!
My experience has been regular. The treatment of the staff is good, they are all attentive and respectful. I think the design of the complex is nice and well thought out. The trails and picnic areas are nice. As for the exhibition areas of the animals, some are very well cared for but others are not. I found a great contrast between various areas. Some Monkeys are sick and it is visibly noticeable because they have lost their fur and have red skin, they should improve the health condition. Some glass is dirty making it difficult to visualize animals. I also found areas totally neglected and without maintenance. I think the reptile house is the most cared for area and where the exhibition of the cubicles of the different species are in perfect condition.
Nice place animals look healthy but DONT BUY FROM THE LITTLE SHOPS OUTSIDE THE PARK THEY ARE RIP OFFS the drinks are cheaper inside.
It is always melancholy to see fenced animals somewhere, even if they are well and are well treated. A kind of Noah's ark, in a sad period for world fauna.
In the beautiful context of Villa Borghese a place where you can see many animals recovered from difficult and protected situations to contribute to the conservation of the species. Very nice for children and the visit is certainly long enough to justify the cost of the ticket, especially if you have lunch inside, in the equipped areas.
You can visit many reptiles.
Zoo is a bit neglected. Animals look lonely.
Price was perfectly fine.
Very nice, certainly you can improve a lot. Still, it was a great experience
In Italy there are more well-kept parks and with spaces for the best animals. It was a pain to see the tigers pacing back and forth in a comatose state. For children it is a point of leisure all here.
