OK airport with decent facilities, charging ports, ample seating space etc etc. However no WiFi was available during my time there meaning I had to pay 60 Yuan for a WiFi box which is quite frankly unacceptable for an airport of this size.

When transiting from Shanghai Pudong International Airport with China Eastern Airlines etc. and connecting to an international flight, you must proceed at the transit counter. Depending on the time of day, there is a long line, and even if there is 2 hours of connection time, there is a case where it is last minute, so if you are connecting internationally, you must go to the transit counter quickly.

I landed at this airport in 2015 when visited Shanghai for attending yarn Expo. This airport is well managed and very clean. All instructions are very clear .Process of migration is also fast. Transportation for all places very easily available depending on requirement.Security system is very strong.

Long-term love baggage sampling, people check each, people suddenly and more released, passengers with the same baggage are not sampled, but the baggage is less loved, but no one is assisting, only a mouth is called passenger Put the baggage up and watch the suitcase with the brand name and love the spot check! What is the significance of the entire unprincipled inspection? The employees of the duty-free shops are also slow, and they are chatting, so please don t increase the efficiency of a bunch of people! It s a really eye-opening country. If young people don t like to work, they will have a mouth! Staff quality is bad enough! The airport line is also bad! It is often necessary to wait for the car to pick up the machine. Rainy days require passengers to shower, and the car will not stop. The boarding gate does not know what route to use!

Took the number 5 bus to downtown. No way I was going to take the metro with all my luggage.

This is the international airport. The other airport is on the other side of Shanghai. Make sure not to go to the wrong one.

Although there is no second time for a linear motor car, it may be better to ride it once. You can buy a one-day ticket or a three-day ticket at the subway information center at the entrance of this airport station. There is also a beef bowl sukiya. The airport is large and comfortable. After immigration, abundant stores are worth seeing and restaurants are good. There is a shop where you can make a seal in about 30 minutes. It is cheaper, tastes and becomes a real seal compared to Japan. Please note that you have to travel one stop by shuttle to the Spring Airlines gate.

I used it at a flight departing and arriving late at night. At the time of arrival, the immigration judgment was all over and it was around 2 o'clock in the morning but a part of the duty free shop was vacant and it was possible to buy perfumes etc. Even though it should be a luxury item, the treatment was about the cosmetic surroundings of the neighborhood and the clerk also took a chance to talk with the sales clerks without difficulty, but I learned a shock.

Another day we used the return trip, we arrived at the airport at 10 o'clock in the evening. I ask a taxi to read at the front desk of the hotel in Shanghai town, and it does not cost 5000 yen in Japanese yen. Fast substitution.
By the way, I used the taxi many times in Shanghai for about 4 days, but this time the first time I got a little English and it was safe driving. I could use it with confidence in bad weather.

When entering the airport, there is a baggage inspection. It is the same as there is a subway ticket gate etc.

I have been on the airline check - in counter for an hour. Almost everything was closed at 11 o'clock souvenir shops etc.
After that it took more than an hour for departure examination etc., all the duty free shops were closed. In the English site I had memories of seeing it as available 24 hours a day. It seems to be closed at 23 o'clock.
Because the cafes such as Starbucks were available for cash used for use in the gate, it can be used up to purchase tumbler etc.
The vending machine did not accept cash, so I could not buy any drinks. Please be careful especially for LCC users.
I had no choice but to secure drinking water to drink medicine at the drinking water supply station on a possessed empty bottle and purchased tea at Starba. They drank me well drinks. Sandwiches also warm up.

It is a large and respectable airport, but users of late-night flights should not expect shopping etc.

If you don't have a cellphone from China, you will have a difficult time finding wifi connections, especially when you are arriving at the airport from other countries. The free wifi at pvg is just a pathetic joke!

Had 4 hours to spend here for a connecting flight. The airport is very clean. Got bored quickly though because there's not much to do. There's free wifi but don't expect to be able to really do anything with it since a lot of websites are blocked. There are a lot of free drinking water points which is really convenient since it can get quite hot there.

Beautiful airport in the international section. They just don t have the navigation signs in the right place... I remember constantly having to retrace my steps because the signs took me the wrong way.

IMMIGRATING:

IMMIGRATING:

PVG (Shanghai Pudong) is China's 2nd busiest airport in China behind Beijing and busiest in the city of Shanghai (the city has 2 airports). After arrival in the immigration area the lines were humongous and it took lots of time. You are NOT allowed to use your cell-phone in certain areas so pay attention to the signs (it's a China thing). After you pick up your bags and exit the baggage claim, the private taxi drivers are waiting and they will aggressively try to solicit you. Just ignore them and go to the airport's official taxi stand. Be prepared to get in a taxi quickly as the taxi line moves quickly. The drivers mostly don't speak English so bring translation cards with you.

DEPARTING:
Leaving PVG was much easier than arriving. I was flying to HKG (Hong Kong) and even though it took some time to get to the gate, the process was much more straightforward. That flight is designated as an Int'l flight and leaves from that terminal.

AIRLINES:
Arriving: United (from SFO)
Departing: Hong Kong Airlines (to HKG)

Cean wierd airport but customer service lacking and they are extremely slow when it comes to connecting flights and transfer of checked bags I almost missed my flight both times and nobody speaks english all.So all just busy and there is always a delay whether your 5th in line for take off or somethings wrong with air traffic control its just an ok airport.

Overall, the transportation is very good. There're shuttles/metro/Magnetic levitation for tourist to go to downtown. And it's easy to get any information from airport inside, such as directions/transport timetables.

One of the biggest airports I have ever seen, I connected here on my way back to Heathrow with China Eastern Airlines... getting through Chinese customs and security definitely wasn't the most comfortable.. no smiles from anyone and having to get body searched twice by 2 women wearing militarized cargo gear....

The china eastern business lounge was brilliant and the service inside the lounge was top... despite when having a shower.. one of the workers tried unlocking the door not realising me and my girlfriend were inside.. which if it wasn't for me holding onto the handle would have been quite embarrassing!!

Food was a little shabby but the options for tea, coffee and drinks in the lounge was great!! Brilliant for a 8 hour lay over!

When boarding the plane having a old security guard keep checking mine and only what seemed to be caucasian peoples passports wasn't the nicest goodbye to china i was expecting, asking unnecessary questions in chinese and english!

Knowing the way china is sadly going back to its communist rhetoric nowadays and the old "red guard" period.. its not surprising why someone of his age would do that, like he is trying to keep an eye on "suspicious foreign diplomats" doing his part in making china safe haha! Just would have been good to have these sorts of dopes on a leash... and to at least try to give a good perspective to passing foreigners that china isnt a authoritarian big brother like state.

Was good to experience this first hand though as I had only heard stories before.

A pretty airport but just okay... but for a big city like Shanghai.. I expected better!!

The worst international airport I've ever been! The personnel is unhelpful, impolite and very dismissive! They barely speak English and will do nothing to help you. The sign and instructions are confusing at best. They're not enough space to relax if you have long lay-over and you'll constantly be bothered by people trying to dupe travelers fake iPhones with the complicity of local police! Please don't get fooled! They will show you a real one and switch the box for a fake once you've paid. They invent something stupid (i.e you have to pay extra for the charger and USB) to distract you while they do the switch. The local police cannot say they do not know about it since they're the same guy day after day and th're not traveling anywhere! They are somehow complicit to this con in my opinion!

Word to the wise: for some reason TSA agents here are notorious for heavily scrutinizing portable chargers. I was forced by the TSA agent to throw out my portable charger which I have been using for at least 3-4 years beforehand since the battery's capacity was not written on it (I think once upon a time it had been, but had since worn off). This is the only time in my life, after likely at least 100 airports or more, that a TSA agent has so much as even commented on the fact that I had a portable charger, and the horror of seeing my beloved battery thrown out after years and years of travel together was an automatic 1-star rating from the get-go.

Nonetheless, I will bump my rating up from rock bottom since international arrivals was actually quite smooth. Immigration was slow but reasonable for the high volume of travelers, and it is even faster for those doing the 144-hour transit without visa - the line is much shorter. It is very easy to navigate to the Maglev train into the city after baggage claim. There are also many currency exchange desks & ATMs before the exit to get some RMB before heading into the city.

International departures, on the other hand, was much less smooth. Waiting in line at baggage drop at Terminal 1 took around 45 minutes, and that really set the tone for what would be an agonizingly slow journey from the door of the airport to the gate of the flight. Factor in immigration, customs, and TSA, and it is definitely best to get to this airport at least 2.5 hours before your international flight - 3 would be preferable.

Final advice: for those doing 144-hour transit without visa, make sure you have your departure flight confirmation email of the itinerary printed out in advance OR available on your phone. You seem to not need to fill out the yellow arrival & departure form you get on the airplane - there are blue ones at the 144-hour transit without visa desk that you will fill out once you're there. After disembarking the plane, follow all the way until you reach the standard immigration lines, and then look for signs for the 24/144-hour transit section. Once there, you must get your fingerprints scanned and then fill out the blue arrival/departure form. You must have an address you're staying at on hand as well as a contact phone number while in China to fill the form. With the completed form, head into the line with your blue arrival/departure form, departure flight itinerary, and passport. It is a super straightforward process and shouldn't take long to get through. There are many other guides available on the internet for going through the transit without visa at PVG but it is really an easy process.

Wonderful airport, especially T2. I know there are complaints about wifi, but other Chinese airports are the same, so no particular complaints here. Air China let my 26kg baggage on for free, great! T2 is new and clean, how it works is that it has 2 layers: the domestic passengers are more or less "crammed" into the bottom portion, while international passengers enjoy the massive upper floor space, which is much more airy. Well, it's a design that works, and is an engineering feat. My flight departed on time, no problem whatsoever. Overall, enjoyable experience here!

It's an enormous size It's bigger than Incheon International Airport One Liter is not allowed in. It's hard to smoke once you enter.
The downside is that there's not much to see
There's more than 10 times more outlets than Incheon International Airport

If you can speak Chinese this may not be such a bad place, but I still wouldn't set foot here ever again. The workers we encountered were rude and unhelpful (well beyond anything I've ever experienced in the States), including an insanely mean lady in the international transfer area who was yelling at passengers to re-form their lines. The whole feel of the place is very cold and militaristic (perhaps not surprising given it is a Communist country). If that wasn't enough, we exited our inbound flight out on the tarmac in a cold rain (okay for me, but not my wife with her back problems and several elderly passengers who needed wheelchairs and were forced to slowly walk to the waiting buses). Our outbound flight, which was a long-haul route in a 777, was boarded in much the same way. Does this place even have jetways? Also, Instead of putting us at a decent gate upstairs, we were packed into the dungy downstairs gates. We wanted to take advantage of the low fares of China Eastern Airlines, but the airport ruined it for us and we will be sure to find an alternative route next time (through Hong Kong, Seoul, or Tokyo). I'm amazed this place averages 4.1/5 stars. Are you all reviewing the same airport?? Pay more and find a better transfer point in SE Asia.

Nobody speaks English so don t expect it, even at the counters printed in English. WiFi didn t work both times I was there in different hangars. I arrived on a domestic flight and had to transfer to international flight out. Security wouldn t let a group of us go to our international flight gates and we were forced to leave the airport. Once outside I walked in the departure gate and nobody cared or checked my ticket. Also not a lot of food options for layovers.

This airport is a shambles for both departures and arrivals. The immigration and security are inefficient and take far too long. And once you get through to the departure lounge, there is a disgustingly poor selection of shops beyond anything that isn't a duty free shop. In terminal 2 there isn't a single convenience store in the departure lounge. Despite being one of the largest airport terminals I have seen.

There is no good thing.

There is no good thing.
The internet is also regulated. A troublesome security check even though you are connecting to an international flight. I was caught by a metal detector, but I could not find any metal. . .
Shosen communist country. I used it for transit but still avoid China.

Note that the mobile battery will be forfeited.

Thanks to the reviews I was dreading going to this airport with my family. But, it's absolutely fine. All signage was in English as well as Chinese; easy to find way around for a transfer flight, staff were fine (no less helpful or cheerful than they were in Birmingham, Dubai, Bangkok or Tokyo on same holiday) yes, you need Chinese money to buy food but you can exchange there and free water is available. Loos were clean, all went well.

Spent 11 hours at this airport for a layover. Rude staff the men at customs were talking and laughing at people in their language. Got followed and watched by the guard dog of an employee in the souvenir shop. Bathrooms were dirty. The McDonald's there didn't take debit/credit cards so my brother and I went to exchange the little cash we had. While heading to money exchange counter we were stopped by a guy who claimed he worked for the airport, he tried to get us to exchange our money with him for a "cheaper" exchange rate. He showed us the money I was almost sold, I was hungry and tired my brother said no and we exchanged our money at he exchange counter. The money this man showed us looked nothing like the money we were given at the exchange counter. Watch out for this guy as he may try and exchange with you fake money.

Terrible airport- worst I have ever been to. The signs are not clear. Once you are queuing up in a line because the signs show that you have to stand in this line, you are directed to queuing up in another line. It takes time to get through all the customes! I met other Western people that missed their flights due to all the wrong signals and unhelpfull people. Signs are definitely NOT clear! Even worse, my bank card was taken by the ATM and none of the Chinese staff of the airport was willing to help me!!! I was completely frustrated. Will try not to have my transfer here again.

Place within international rules ...
All necessary points for boarding and disembarking are in well-marked English ...

International restaurants and fast food chains ...

But there are very few people who speak English in the shops.

I had no difficulty, very organized and rigid security.

Large and modern airport. Very clean and enlightened! Terminal 1 was pretty boring and Lounge 37 was like that (priority pass). Think terminal 2 has better range. However, everything worked out and it was quick to change to Bangkok

Lacks of services of a modern airport. Only one place to grab a coffee to go (segafredo) and they didn't even know how to use the machine. 20' to have a latte with no coffee whatsoever. Age hasn't favored this airport.

Shanghai Pudong International Airport (IATA: PVG, ...

Shanghai Pudong International Airport (IATA: PVG, ICAO: ZSPD); Chinese: pinyin: Shijiazhuang Guiyang Jishang) is an airport located east of Pudong District, Hai, China. Love this airport! I have passed through here many times and every single time the procedure has taken less then an hour for departures. The staff are super friendly and the terminal is huge and modern. The planes are always on time with a lot of things to do while you wait to board the plane. The ground transportation options are also very good. Modern, huge, sleek, fast and flyer friendly airport!

Every year I go to work around the world, but it is the worst airport. Although we arrived at 8:00 pm, there were no people in the subway ticket office and there were only ticket vending machines, but credit cards could not be used. There were a lot of machines, but all credit cards were broken. A Japanese lady who passed by bought me a ticket without having cash. Without her, I think I was in great trouble. The subway ticket vending machines at Shanghai International Airport, the largest city in the world, are all broken. I can not think in Japan. Only Chinese yuan can be used. And, clearly I was in trouble, many Chinese people didn't help me as one of them. And although I was staying in the center of Shanghai, the Chinese were violent and violent, and even if they hit people, they would spit their ribs on the road, walk tobacco, and restaurants Pee in the restroom. It is not one or two people. There are countless such people. I will never go to China again. I thought.

It s modern and clean, efficient. It s a very convenient hub with so many choices of transportation to the city.

Modern and clean airport. Poor for connecting flight overnight. After midnight no airline counter is opened. Passengers have to wait till 5:30 for only one staff to come to work. You can easily miss the flight.

The building itself looks modernised on the outside but I found some places inside this airport still not fully renovated. Dun expect staff to help you here. They all seems cold and not welcoming. Lucky I was here for a short transit but if I have a choice, I will prefer airports elsewhere.
