I was in transit at this airport. The restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. At boarding, things were well controlled and well organised.
The only reason why I subtracted one star is because of the really long and tedious security check before boarding. Other than that not a bad experience.

The worst airport in the world , no management, no client consideration at all, not one single flight on time - this is the absolute nightmare each time time you need to come here - not to mention that it is very dirty everywhere -
The customs is a true battle to go through without any English signs and no one to direct you - when you finally go through, you would have lost a solid hour if not more

As a repeat victim, I would say this is an airport you should avoid at all cost.

No matter your fligh is international or domestic flight. It's quite often flight departure are delayed for 3 hours or more and Airport staff just consider it as normal and won't give a **** to you. Bad weather, traffic control are some a common reasons. If you are lucky then you'll still reach your destination hours later than schedule but for the unlucky one you would stuck in the airport overnight due to flight cancellation. (I've been in both situations )

So if you want to transit here please also seriously consider the high chance of servere delay and flight cancellation.

Shanghai Pudong International Airport (IATA: PVG, ...

Shanghai Pudong International Airport (IATA: PVG, ICAO: ZSPD) is one of two international airports of Shanghai and a major aviation hub of China. Pudong Airport mainly serves international flights, while the city's other major airport Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport mainly serves domestic and regional flights. Located about 30 kilometres (19 mi) east of the city center, Pudong Airport occupies a 40-square-kilometre (10,000-acre) site adjacent to the coastline in eastern Pudong. The airport is operated by Shanghai Airport Authority (Chinese: , SSE: 600009).

A terrible airport. After the security check, you have no more opportunities to buy something normal for dinner. Auser instant noodles, chicken feet and chocolate, there is nothing left to buy. In addition, always late regarding Airtraffics.

Huge airport with 3 terminals and is building the 4th terminal.
Security procedures take a long time because it is always crowded,
The plane lined up to go around 30 minutes to get the runway waiting to take off.
Many duty-free shops sell for the same price as duty-free shops bought in Vietnam.
Pudong does not have many train routes like Shanghai Hongqiao Airport: there are many high-speed train lines and buses radiating all over Chinese cities.
Can experience the car running on the world's fastest magnetic cushion here.

The recently renovated Terminal 1 is beautiful, with plenty of power, and a toilet with a washlet. Not so much overseas. However, there are only a few duty-free shops and restaurants that don't have a lot, so there are very few places where you can easily buy water. However, it is free and you can drink water, so if you don't care, you can use it.
The terminal 2 is a bit old, but the food court has been renovated and I think it is the same quality as the Japanese food court.
I could eat seafood and sour spicy ramen that I can't eat in Japan. I tried to enter a high restaurant, but the quality was just below that of a food court. The card can be used anywhere, so there is no problem even if you do not have the original. However, free wifi at the airport is difficult to connect. (It's like a ticket vending machine, you need to issue a number. Please ask your info sister), I don't want a mobile wifi shop, but I was told about 1500 yen for a day, and I showed it on a calculator I guess I've been drunk.
Originally in China, neither line nor Facebook nor gmail is connected. Transit people will give up on the net, and those who have time may get out of town on a linear train.

Quite a nice airport, yet the smell was (I believe) overly smoky. You'd think that they'd seal smoking rooms better. I also think lounge food is a bit iffy, yet still quite nice for a Chinese airport!

Worst airport for business travelers with a connexion. No priority line. And the icy cold welcome of the staff shows how they appreciate visitors. To leave this airport is a relief. They did inproove the AirFrance Business lounge which is a nice change from the old and dirty China Eastern one. But I'll avoid going through Shanghai next time.

It's a shame I had to give this a full star. I was traveling with my 78 year old mother, who rode a wheelchair through the airports on our trip from Florida to the Philippines. When we got to the Shanghai airport, we didn't pull into a gate!! She had to (very slowly and carefully) walk down the steps and ride a bus to the terminal! The flight to leave Shanghai was the exact same thing in reverse: walk out to the bus, ride to the plane, and climb the stairs. It is absolutely RIDICULOUS you cannot pull the plane into a gate since there were so many empty ones!!

Airport is decent and easy to navigate. Free water is provided at stations dotted along the terminal, however the main problem I had while here was the customer service, I found the staff here very unwelcoming and really are just working for the pay check. Information desk was the worst experience, I was waiting in line for the people in front of me to finished speaking with the member of staff, when they finished, I waited to be seen next as it looked like she was just finishing something on the computer, however 5 minutes later, she still was looking at the screen, so I just asked if she could help, only for her to just look up and say not working. I walked behind the desk to see what the staff member was up to only see them browsing a shopping website and continued to ignore people for the next 30 minutes.

Thanks to the satellite which started operation in September
Since I did not encounter the offshore stop, I will use this evaluation.
Previously, I boarded an airplane from a bus in the rain.
Even if you can board first, even business class people
I was really sorry because it was the same.

About T1, after we arrived in Shanghai
If you must change money at the airport,
Than SPD right after immigration
SPD in the arrival lobby after exiting customs
Exchange rate is good.

But in China, the situation is changing

Everything in order and clean. From airport, you can go to Shanghai by Maglev, speed up to 430km/h... very fast.

You will wait on board for an hour at least everytime. I have flown from pvg many times and every flight sits for lengthy amounts of time after the plane is boarded. Inside the airport it is Chinese not international, which is a surprise considering it is in Shanghai.

Free wifi when you get out from the plane! Wide and diaphanous spaces, new and comfortable facilities.

Good public transportation. Something to appreciate is that the last bus at night from the airport to the city center departs 45 minutes after the last plane lands.

Terrible airport. The staff all provided conflicting information when we asked where we should go. Because of this we got lost for almost two hours, until a fellow traveler could finally help us. Our payment cards that were placed on a world profile did not work anywhere at the airport and the 20 euros that I still had with me was hardly enough for 2 cans of coke after changing it. We also almost lost our luggage because an employee who was at the band kept insisting that our luggage would be automatically taken to the next flight, which turned out not to be so a few hours later.

It is very nice airport, I loved it. However the transit from international to domestic flight is smooth. Hopefully they will improve the transit to make it easier for international travellers.

Before entering the customs, I met three ladies asking me to eat ... Although I thought 99% was deceiving. But I still took them to buy food. This kind of thing will happen in the international airport .. It s amazing. !! !!

It's a reasonably newer airport. If you need to catch a connecting flight here the transfer process is smooth. A few restaurants and cafes you can hang out. The waiting area downstairs tends to get overcrowded. There are a few downstairs (those take you to the aircraft via a bus) doesn't really have seatings.

The place is very new. I traveled from Hong Kong to China via Eastern Airlines, so I had to take a flight here. I had to take the bus to the shipping building after going to the PVR twice, and I can go straight to the plane. The instructions for the transfer are not clear, and the staff are often asked. The store sells (especially catering) more expensive than the city. My plane arrived on time, so it was punctual, so I flew away after two hours. If not, I have to wait a whole day in minutes. Airport passengers are small, so there is no problem with long queues. China Eastern Airlines is the airline that I found to be able to provide two pieces of mail to Europe. The price is also flat, and I believe that I will come back in the future.

This airport is the worst. Typical China, build something that looks good for the world on the outside but completely forget about the inside. Let s see.... security check just to walk inside, long lines for immigration, almost no services past security other than duty free shops, incessant announcements blasted over the PA, heavy reliance on bus gates... hopefully, everything goes smooth because if you have a problem and don t speak chinese you are toast.

State-of-the-art airport with connections to all parts of the world. But. as is always the case in China, the restrooms are less than perfectly clean and the staff range from indifferent to rude.

Is experiencing a terrible return Sitting China Airlines

People per row are thousands of people to reach first. Check-in time 3 hours The machine will be released. Haven't checked in yet Once you have an emergency call, the check-in line is quick enough to check in. Thousands more rows than those who have to line up. Must request to insert a queue of queues in order to keep up

Thai people do not recommend returning to China Airlines to return to Thai Airways or airlines that are more convenient in our homes because they do not have to queue up for a long time. Different people

Literally the worst airport I ve been to. Extremely disorganized. I almost missed my connecting flight. Airport personnel were rude and not willing to help either. I d literally pay a thousand dollars more to transfer at any other airport

This place is simply humongous. Perhaps the biggest airport I've ever been in. When we came, in 2016, we had a very hard time finding cash machines that would accept our non-Chinese bank cards. We ended up booking a taxi that had a card reader, though we would've preferred to transact in cash.

There is a lot of stars .. It is very noisy and the bench waiting for the gate in the station is waiting for the Chinese people to eat ... If you think that it is the market .. The search is too inefficient and slow .. But the real size of the airport is big .. The road itself is very inefficient .. The route guide itself is not done properly and it is really real slow ... It is stupid .. I want to go back to China again. I feel like my life will be reduced by one day.

They wouldn t let anyone through for 48 hour free transit. Unfortunate for some travelers who booked their layovers long on purpose. English speakers are limited so no one could explain why no one could leave the airport for 48 hour visa free. Airport is small and not a place you want to be for a long layover

Truly amazing architecture. Impressive. Until getting up close or in usage. Mildew in bathrooms, cracks in walls. Huge lines at each check point, complete lack of signage throughout. This is not an airport friendly to almost anyone, but it looks nearly impossible to navigate by anyone with mobility issues. Even the ultra high output sodium lamps densely placed throughout could burn a hole in anyone s retina...and yet an amazing number of people are able to take up 3-4 seats with luggage and additional seats for sleeping.

Truly awful service, amenities and planning. Not just rude, but flat out aggressive attitudes throughout. From the checkpoints, information desk, lounges, transfer desks and even at the departure gates.

They removed a battery bank from our hand luggage and demanded to know the capacity (international laws govern the capacity and output). This was a rather small one, and had the information in English on the bottom. They refused to accept what it said and confiscated it. When asked about the specific violations, or the maximum capacity of battery banks, the guards not only started yelling at us, but started to dig through our bags more thoroughly.

One star because it is just a huge amazing piece of construction. And a snarky bonus star because we had to walk an extra 5km total during our transit to other plane. Working off the awful food from our previous China Eastern flight was appreciated.

The cost savings was entirely off set by the frustration, anger and awful experience. This is one of the few airports that I will go out of my way to avoid (the others being Addis Ababa & Dhaka)

There are som many other airports in the region that are both amazing architecture AND well planned and great service...that unless you are forced to go here...skip it. I am.

Since there are fingerprints of all hands at the time of entry
This will take some time. Also when you leave the airport, you have to go to the airport terminal for security checks and also carry on consignment in the airplane with a considerable number of items and baggage inspection is carried out, it took time. The thick heel boots with small metal fittings were also removed __

Immigration and transit are not well managed but still better than at the Airport in Beijing. If you are lucky you get escorted to your connecting flight by Airport staff which makes it much easier to get through the passport control procedure and to find the right way.
The maglev train makes it quite convenient to travel to the city in a very fast manner.
