We order the wheel chair service for 2 80+ seniors who traveled with Hainan airline. However, when they arrived at PVG, the people only sent them to the baggage claim area even didn't help them to take their bags from the belt. What kind of humanity those people are! what a shame for the business.

One of the most terribly designed airports I've been to. There's no way to change flights from within the terminal, only at check-in counters outside which makes no sense for transfers. Gates don't even have proper computers, but use some antiquated fax machines. Have seen better infrastructure at tiny domestic airports in developing countries

All of the food places close super early and when they are open they don t accept us cash, credit, or debit so you have to go to a money exchange and exchange cash. Any airport could seem small. The Pudong Airport is very well signposted, the check-in places are marked by letters and in information they give the place of the airline.
Immigration is a very demanding place. Busan - Shanghai - Wuhan Route, it took about an hour even though the line was not long. The airport is a very big and long airport over 600 meters, clean and very expensive. For drinks, the first floor vending machine is half the price of the second floor.
Compare to how modern the city of Shanghai is, the airport is a bit of disappointment. It has all the facilities of modern airports but somehow doesn't have a very appealing environment.
Architecturally, Pudong is a very pretty airport but everything closes at 11pm or midnight. The seats are comfy enough to sleep on but it would be good if you had a pillow and a blankie. There were not many food options in the area where we were but they did have a Starbucks. It's quite popular tho so expect a long line during high traffic. We also ate at one of their Chinese restaurants and it was quite good.
Clean, easy to navigate and architecturally well designed.
Navigation: considering the number of passengers that goes through this airport it is quite stunning how it doesn't fill (at least on an average) overly dirty or crowded.
Immigration process: straightforward and the signage helps a lot
Transport to the city: Maglev, Subway and Buses as well as Taxi - couldn't ask for more.
Staff: friendly and professional
Lounge: went to the SkyTeam China Eastern and they had massage chairs which made my day.
Shopping: n/a didn't try it

I think it's good that the smoking areas have been moved to the open air. TSA has but directly collected my lighter, which happened to me at no airport. Public lighters will be provided.
A very large and spacious airport with lots of modern facilities. However the staff's attitude needs improvement. Customer service is not as good as what I've experienced in Japan, Singapore, etc.

This airport is great. Whenever I come here, I feel that is a location just like the neck of a jar. If you just arrive here, you should be excited that before you there is a big world unknown to you, full of tricks. Come and challenge yourself. If you are going to leave, this is just like a place you finally find a relief. No more quizzes and relax.
The facility of the airport is ok. If you want to make a transfer from plane to any high speed train, that will be very very painful. You need to take a shuttle to another airport.

Use of Terminal 1. It is beautiful. Is the security check place more severe than others? Don't have an umbrella? I was asked. The Worst Airport Ever in Asia. If only I can give this Airport a Zero Rating, I will. They have the guts to call it an International Airport even though their employees can't communicate with you in English. No wifi. Rude Employees, they are not happy to work there nor help you. Lacking with knowledge on how to give good customer service.
Lots of check points or immigration desk that you need to go through even though you are only connecting to your next flight to your final destination. You have to claim your luggages and check it in again. Getting your boarding pass is tricky as well coz they will direct you to several desk before you get to the right one to claim your boarding pass. 5 hours of lay over weren't enough. Please avoid this Airport. Just go through Hongkong, Tokyo, Japan, or Taiwan.
Some of the things they are good at is misleading you, shouting at you, and letting scammers to be in their facilities. Be ware of people selling you an iPhone. They will approached you by asking you if you have a phone and they will force their product on you. Fortunately I can tell if a man is a scammer so he wasn't able to scam us. Be careful people or better yet just avoid this Airport.
Information staff will speak in English and return it in Chinese. Since there is no priority lane, it takes time to transfer between terminals. It is an airport that you do not want to use as much as possible.

Many cab drivers also waiting for you but they will charge more if you want low cost transportation try to get bus. If you r with family then go by taxi only it will cost same for family 3 member 1 taxi.

Great airport. Well connected to city via metro and maglev. There are two terminals. Terminal 1 is mainly international and terminal 2 is domestic. Airport also has a nice hotel walking distance.

This is the worst experience in my life. People are literally staring at you all the time, they don't care if you stare back. Airport workers are very rude and no one speaks english, no one is going to help you with anything. I was surrounded by people spliting, coughing and trashing the place. I am very relieved to go out of this place forever. THE WORST. DON'T EVER STAY HERE.
