One of the biggest airports I have ever seen, I connected here on my way back to Heathrow with China Eastern Airlines... getting through Chinese customs and security definitely wasn't the most comfortable.. no smiles from anyone and having to get body searched twice by 2 women wearing militarized cargo gear....

The china eastern business lounge was brilliant and the service inside the lounge was top... despite when having a shower.. one of the workers tried unlocking the door not realising me and my girlfriend were inside.. which if it wasn't for me holding onto the handle would have been quite embarrassing!!

Food was a little shabby but the options for tea, coffee and drinks in the lounge was great!! Brilliant for a 8 hour lay over!

When boarding the plane having a old security guard keep checking mine and only what seemed to be caucasian peoples passports wasn't the nicest goodbye to china i was expecting, asking unnecessary questions in chinese and english!

Knowing the way china is sadly going back to its communist rhetoric nowadays and the old "red guard" period.. its not surprising why someone of his age would do that, like he is trying to keep an eye on "suspicious foreign diplomats" doing his part in making china safe haha! Just would have been good to have these sorts of dopes on a leash... and to at least try to give a good perspective to passing foreigners that china isnt a authoritarian big brother like state.

Was good to experience this first hand though as I had only heard stories before.

A pretty airport but just okay... but for a big city like Shanghai.. I expected better!!
