DoubleTree by Hilton LAX Review

One of best hotels around, beautiful and comfortable.

Overall I really enjoyed my stay..I love how they greet you with a cookie after you check in, I loved the little fitness area, I love the breakfast, & also that they cleaned our room every day and gave us new towels...only thing that I didn't like was the size of the room and the fact that it was really dim when I was getting ready but overall this is a great place to stay! I would definitely come back!

I was only here for one night, but I loved the hotel. Very clean, very friendly staff. Rooms were also nice, and very clean. They have a restaurant downstairs, which I didnt get a chance to try, but I love the convenience of that. They also have a small store downstairs with convenient items and snacks.

AVOID! I booked knowing there was a possibility that I would need to cancel due to US travel restrictions on the UK. I read the Ts&Cs and the updated Coronavirus cancellation policy to ensure that should this happen, I could get a refund.

Unfortunately, I needed to cancel, I called the customer service who cancelled my reservation and said I would get my refund In 14days. A month later, nothing. I called the customer service to chase my refund. The lovely gentleman called the hotel who stated my booking was non-refundable! Once the website policy was explained, the hotel requested proof of why I needed to cancel! Regardless of there being no mention of this in the cancellation policy. The receptionist said I needed to speak to the hotel manger, which I refused. Why should I argue for my refund when I booked on the premise that I can cancel as per their policy.

Ultimately, I had to discuss with the customer relations team who have requested my refund but I now have to wait 7-10days for this to be processed, then wait for a cheque to come via the mail.

Absolutely shameful.

Staff was incredibly nice - super helpful and accommodating front desk staff. Room was clean and simple, and the location was great for an early flight.

I had drinks and a meeting in room 509 and was pleasantly surprised with the taste of Peroinis out the hotel fridge and server talk with the boss. The only thing that I can think of to gripe about would have to be the entrance in and how confusing it is was to navigate through the Mattel 'Private Property' 'No Parking Except for Mattel Employees' signs that had me spending an extra five minutes circling around the bordering streets until the only choice I had was to be like Hasbro and blow Mattel off. This is the way to park and enter the double tree, ignore the Matell signs and save yourself a u-turn for the best experience possible.

Spent 2 weeks here. Smells like smoke and weed often. Carpet stains in my room. The main elevator has been broken for nearly two years. Everyone has to use the service elevator. This "Double Tree" is more of a motel.

Service was polite and helpful.

This was the greatest place I stayed here until my son's girlfriend could pick me up she's in the Navy so it took her a couple of days it was awesome the room was nice the people were friendly the food was great I enjoyed it although the food you have to order out and there's a lot of nice restaurants around the area to order from they give you a menu in the hotel room great I enjoyed every bit of it definitely going back must stay and it's very close to the airport Sulphur flying in and flying out you have great access and it's close to the malls and other areas to

I love the convenience of this hotel it s only a 5 min drive to the airport! Check in was easy and quick. My only complaint was that housekeeping didn t clean at at all my whole stay while I was there and the AC was wonky. The staff was always friendly and always said hi when I passed by. I also like the warm cookie they give you when you first check in!

There grab n go breakfast was so bad. Def not worth it. Lots of issues with elevator.

First room I was given the bed was broken. Callee the front desk no answer. The next morning General manager Tim moved the room to across the hall where the bathtub had a piece broken off sitting to side. Tried to talked to him for the rest of my stay. No response!!!! I stopped by the front desk 3 times. Each time I asked for A a call back never had a response. Was charged for a phone call to front desk. And then $101.96 for lodging when I paid through third party Company should not have been charged by Hilton. Front desk was not helpful Maria was complaining how she was suppose to get off 30 minutes ago. I asked for additional towel it took 2 days later. The elevator was shared with cleaninh staff during pandemic no social distancing. The elevator has been this way for over 2 months.(my last stay) was the same/ waiting for 1 elevator for the whole hotel. Disappointment for the Hilton name to be on this establishment.

On point hotel. Great services and easy in and out.

Reeks of pot smoke. The hallways and lobby are choked with pot smoke. Over the 4 nights I stayed here, I dreaded walking to my room. Overall the hotel is aging and in need of renovations. The finish on all the hardware is worn, paint is scraped, light switches and outlets are grungy looking, floor tile dirty and 2 of the 3 elevators were out of order.

Its a little overpriced but I mean its Cali. The staff is great. And well the room serves ita purpose it was clean and our sheets were clean.

The Hilton App says this place has a shuttle to the Airport. They DON'T have a shuttle and they no longer offer Uber to compensate. Staff is rude and calloused. Manager does not seem interested in guest concerns .

Elevators are not well maintained. You're better off taking the stairs. The stairs case was packed full of chairs and unused equipment.

If you like Hilton properties, stay at another one. Avoid the DoubleTree if you can .

The manager and staff truly impressed me during a recent visit to LA. Even though I was not a guest at this hotel, the staffers and management went out of their way to help me. Based upon my experience with this team, I will certainly make a point to stay at DoubleTree in the future. Well done!

I have stayed here many times. I park and fly. It's airport close, shuttle service to LAX. Overall, a great hotel. Hilton rewards member.

I stayed on the 6th floor.

Liked:
- warm chocolate chip cookie at check in
- Nice, spacious, bright room and bathroom
- Clean room and bathroom
- Close to the airport
- Breakfast - it would be nice if the menu is changed everyday
- Walgreens, chipotle, burger grill etc within 5mins walk from the hotel
- Huge tv in the room
- very nice breakfast patio on the ground floor
- Safe location near the LAX

Did not like:
- I had to wait for over an hour for the airport shuttle. Apparently you have to call them beforehand to make sure they come get you. Other hotels shuttle did 5-6 runs in the time I waited for their shuttle to arrive at the airport
- Slow response time from the staff (one time I was put on hold for a very long time)
- Expensive - believe there are cheaper options but with some trade offs such as cleanliness etc

They need to renovate. Its 2020. Old mattress, carpet, bathroom just old everything except the TV. Staff was great but the Hotel is out of date.

My husband I just stayed at this hotel over the weekend. The room was clean and the best part was the bed. It was very comfortable! But parking was charged separately (paid for the room prior to arrival) which I am not use to. We had two choices either valet park for $18/daily or park in a shared garage across the street for 15/daily. No continental breakfast offered only a restaurant inside the hotel. In my opinion, a very basic hotel not very fancy. The customer service is pretty good and so is the valet.

Shuttle service from the airport was smooth and easy. The Double Tree is conveniently located to many corporate locations in El Segundo. It's a short walk from the Mariposa Green Line Metro stop. In-N-Out is also just a 5-10 minute walk away.

Good place and staff is helpful..
Unfortunately sales staff is not responsive at all as I was trying to book one conference room for my team meetings but sales never responded.. even the front desk couldn't help as it was with sales control.

I'm all over the city and this is one of the friendliest and nicest hotels specially right next to the water Ruby's Diner the pier walking distance and of course the ocean right there

Continental Breakfast is better than most I've had. I prefer daily restroom and bedroom refreshing vs the 3 days in between that they wait for here, but one can always call to request it daily. Free wifi and nice looking inside and outside.

Spent one night here. The room was nice, clean, and spacious. The restaurant area is nice and the food is pricey but the chicken quesadilla was great!

This is a great hotel to stay at if you are either coming arriving from or departing from LAX. The local area highways are usually busy because of LAX but other than that depending on what you are coming to LA this hotel is in the middle of the LA area and is a good spot to stay if one is wanting to go to Hollywood and Santa Monica. There will always be traffic anywhere you go but of course, there is a lot of traffic from either side of the LA area.

The only complaint that I have would be that there are no microwaves in the rooms. Other than that the rooms where great and I recommend staying in this hotel.

Good hotel but valet service not working go with self parking

For being a Hilton, I expected the beds to be better quality. The place is ok. Only other complaint would be having only one elevator working at the time was a little annoying. (Reasons why I didn't give 5 stars) The staff was great and the breakfast was pleasantly good. Good, safe location and very close to airport.

Clean rooms, and they give you a free cookie at check in. Rooms are a little pricey but worth it because the rooms are clean and neat.

Always expect quality from DoubleTree and today didn't disappoint. From the cleanliness and sparkle of the front lobby to the spotless room, perfect! The folks at the front desk we're friendly, courteous and helpful. The room was spotless and the bed was comfortable. Didn't get a chance to to try breakfast. Definitely will stay there again!

Great service and rooms are very comfortable and updated

The rooms were clean and the location is fairly close to LAX. Doing business nearby put me within walking distance. The food in bar is pretty decent and priced like a normal hotel kitchen. Overall a good experience. Would stay again.

No problem with arriving past midnight and check-out was a breeze. Room was clean and comfortable. Front desk personnel were very welcoming. I will definitely return to this hotel when visiting Los Angeles.

We just checked for a day. Checked in in the evening around 7.30 pm due to flight delay. Went out for some shopping etc.
When we pulled off the covers to sleep, the sheets looked slept in. It looked like they hadn't bothered to refresh them since our stay was just one night.
Haven't complained about it cause I know what excuse will be given, they will say we have used them and are complining now!!
But won't be making any plans to stay here again!

Room is clean and the bed is comfortable. The refrigerator is a nice feature too.

I loved the rooms so clean and spacious the staff friendly though a bit snobby. I didn't like how they didn't have a luggage cart to bring your luggage inside and to your room.being a woman traveling alone I had to make several trips to and fro when I should've had to make only 1 trip. By the time I finally got settled in it was almost too late to get dinner in town. They make no mention of parking fees that for a 3day stay is an extra 60.00 they need to state that in their add and with booking cos. Plus the booking co description of all amenities states it includes a breakfast meal. But the hotel states that breakfast is an extra charge. I booked thru hotwire so I couldn't change my reservation it was prepaid I kind of feel as though I've been shanghaied because these extra fees weren't mentioned before I booked it and it was too late to do anything about it after I checked in. Thank God I had enough to cover their extras . But the cost of my dinner went from a good hot meal to a burger from dollar menu. That's not fair for me. Next time I'll go to a heaper place that's clean and has parking for free and breakfast like best westerns . It cost me a total of 100.00 extra that I was stuck having to pay it since I had prepaid my booking non refundable. I feel I should be refunded those fees since it wasn't stated before making that non refundable prepaid reservation.

This is not the doubletree you may know. This might as well be a motel 8.

My first time at the LAX DoubleTree and I will definately be back. This was the perfect staycation!!!

Good location close to airport but not in the extremely busy area. The Hilton Hotels in general can use some updates and modernization, this one included.

Pretty solid hotel. The room is a bit dated and the wear shows, but the given the price the hotel was good value.

No drinks menu! Which meant the poor waiter had to try and recite their massive selection to us. Not cool.

But it has a nice atmosphere and the appetizers we got were pretty good.

Room was cool, the assistant manager Perfecta was not perfect at all she was rude and very judgmental didn't even greet me when I walked then just asked for my ID didn't ask how i was doing or anything. The accommodations I asked for in my room weren't there. I won't be staying at this place anymore using my Hilton honors.

Not for business travelers. Full of tourists and teenagers every day of the week. Elevators barely work. Scant items in shop. Hard to find from street.

Staff was friendly and let us check in early. Hallways smell awful rooms not any better. The water pressure in the shower was awesome. The bed is horrible!! I Definitely will take that into consideration next time I need to book an LA.

It was a great stay. Relatively cheap in a great neighborhood and the staff was extremely friendly. They also give you a tasty cookie when you arrive

This hotel discontinued its hotel shuttle as of 1/1/2018. It's slightly outdated, and if you don't have a breakfast coupon, you will pay $19.95 for the regular buffet. I'm a Diamond status, and I can't believe I'm saying this, however do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

This hotel is clean and safe, very friendly staff. Excellent value close to LAX airport, best complimentary cookies!

Great customer service. Free parking available. Onsite parking is $13 per day. Very close to Hermosa beach.

I prefer this area compared right by LAX. This is about 10 min away from the airport and 10 minutes from manhattan beach. Rooms are nice. No real views and good parking. I didn't get my warm cookie this visit though!

The location is close to LAX, room service is on point, and very suitable rooms for the price, close to breakfast places and other shops.

Hilton the most reliable hotel chain, watch out for America if you go outside the box you're in trouble.

No breakfast. Room smelled like a 400 lb sweaty man. Cookie was good I guess.

Hotel needs lots of maintenance. Grimy carpets. Peeling wallpaper. Poorly patched walls. Not a pleasant place to stay.

Went to meet some out of town family for dinner at the hotel restaurant. Lots of parking (free for us too), no wait at restsurant, and quiet. Food was good, but expensive for quality and quantity. Hotel is much nicer inside than I expected from the outside. Nice lobby area too where we were able to continue our visit after dinner.

Great stay, near the airport and convenient. Recommended for any travelers coming through la. Service was good

Clean, friendly staff but no early shuttles and they're only for "corporate"

The location of the hotel is very good. The rooms were clean and big. Staff concerned and friendly. The breakfast buffet is rich and satisfying. Service quality is high. It costs $ 15 extra for parking. The airconditionu of our room was making sound. The problem may be in case of continuous operation. It is recommended.

We stay at Doubletree El Segundo every time we travel to L.A. and it is always a good stay. From the front desk staff to the restaurant/bar staff. Friendly, professional and accommodating. If there is something wrong with the room, they will promptly address and resolve the issue. Thanks for always taking care of your guests. And the chocolate chip cookies are an added bonus. ;-)

Made reservation, at check-in they say they are full and won't honor it. Hilton won't rebook in another property. It's 1 am and we have nowhere to go. Thanks Hilton!

Staff is friendly!

The information given to us on the app, website, and when we called in was different than what the hotel told us. We needed a shuttle to the airport at 5am and everyone told us it will be running until we showed up at the hotel and they said it didn't start until 6am

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!
We got in from LAX earlier than expected and couldn t check in to our Airbnb for another couple of hours. We checked in to this hotel only to get a couple hours of sleep and then go to our Airbnb. That s exactly what we did. We checked in and were there 2/3 hours to sleep. Didn t use a bathroom. Didn t do anything else. They charged us an extra $400 because of a broken toilet that we never used and told us to take it up with our card company if we want to dispute it. Thats $400 that could ve gone to our vacation instead of fixing what someone else broke! They're sneaky. I don t recommend staying here AT ALL!!!!

Hilton honors are great and so is DOUBLE TREE HILTON HOTEL

Don t be fooled with the photos, the realty is quite different. The smell of the corridors and the left was disgusting. If you check out a minute after 12pm then there s a charge of $25! Generally, the hotel is far away from Hilton standard.

Location may be king, and it's certainly the Double Tree's strongest asset, but the other aspects don't get the job done. From loose fixtures in the bathroom to a wall unit airconditioner ( which produces noise at a level prohibitive to tv watching/listening ) the quality is a disappointment. Well below Hilton standards.

It certainly wouldn t be my first choice but if u must stay close to the airport it s close. The hotel had obvious dirt and handprints about common areas as well as my bathroom. The pillows are in poor condition with a smell and very uncomfortable. Because of covid the restaurant was closed yet for $8.50 there was a continental breakfast available
Also parking was extremely over priced at $20! 1 out of 3 elevators are working with a 2 person limit.(which guests don t respect)
I think when a Hotel has a reputation like double tree does they have certain standards to uphold i won t be staying again.

The hotel was nice but the bathroom smelled. I had to close the door at night.
